The team discussed a recent Phi Delta Kappa/Gallup annual poll stating that "three of four Americans say they have trust and confidence in the men and women who teach children in the public schools"--a finding that's stayed steady for the past three years. However, there's also been escalating negative rhetoric about teachers--or what president of the American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten has called the "demonization" of teachers--over the last few years, especially by politicians and other public figures.

Express your opinions about the future of technology instruction in the classroom at the Office of Technology at the Department of Education.

The questions are worth discussing and there were almost no responses when we last checked the website:Please share your thoughts and experiences with the Department of Education. The team discussed the vague nature of the questions found at the website including: What is your greatest challenge? In what ways does technology help you address that challenge?Who decides what learning technologies you use (district leaders, school leaders, or teachers)? Matt thought that less vague questions might help the department actually get concrete evidence that they could use in documentation.
