Hike with Alterra at Cowles Mountain

Residents of Alterra we hope that you all will be in attendance to a few of the great events we have planned for you all this week. We will not only have 1 event but 3 events this week. Check them out below.

Make plans to attend the Neighborhood Watch Meeting on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:30PM. We want to keep our Alterra community safe.

End your week on the good note, with a nice hike up Cowles Mountain this Friday, May 18th at 6:30PM. We’ll meet at the base. Be sure to look for us in our Alterra shirts.

Alterra will definitely end your week with a bang and start your weekend with a nice fulfilling breakfast. We would like to ask everyone to join us for our Alterra Pancake Breakfast at 9AM in the Alterra Clubroom.Cox Communications will sponsor the breakfast, and there will be special drawings & prize giveaways.

Big May events at Alterra

The month of May is here Alterra residents, and we will have plenty of great resident events just for you! Take a look at what’s coming up,and let us know if you have any questions.

With Mother’s Day being this Sunday, May 13th, we will be having a special Mother’s Day Potting Class on Saturday, May 12th. This event will start at 10AM by the pool, and everyone is welcome to attend. We named the event “Blooming with Love”, and residents will be able customize their own pot. Everyone will receive pots and potting kits. If you are interested in attending, please make sure you sign-up in the office.

Enjoy Mother's Day all around La Mesa

Mother’s Day is only a few days away, so you should probably start making some great plans for you and your special lady, mom. Mother’s Day will be on Sunday, May 13th this year and there will be lots of great things in La Mesa for and your mom to participate in. Enjoy lots of drink for Cinco de Mayo in San Diego

What do you have planned this weekend for Cinco de Mayo? If nothing comes to mind, you will definitely be able to celebrate in San Diego. Get ready for the official Cinco de Mayo Pub Crawl of San Diego as it takes over the town this Saturday, May 5th. The pub crawl is being hosted by Pubcrawls.com and tickets are only $1. Cinco de Mayo is known to be one of the biggest celebrated holidays around the world, so you have to make sure you are in attendance.

So what exactly is a Pub Crawl? Well it is pretty much a group of people gathering and at one bar then moving on to the next. No need to spend the entire night at one bar, you might as well go out and enjoy all local bars in the neighborhood. The pubcrawl will feature lots of great drink specials and a fun & safe atmosphere. This will be your chance to meet new people from around time, and celebrate the Mexican Independence.

Go green in celebration of Earth Day

Residents of Alterra know that we pride ourselves on being an Eco-friendly apartment community,so it comes to no surprise that we want to help residents of La Mesa celebrate Earth Day. Sunday, April 22nd is the official Earth Day, and there will be plenty of Earth Day events happening around town. take a look, and let us know if you will be attending any.

The Grossmont Center will be celebrating Earth Day in full effect with its big Earth Day Celebration. The center will be filled with dozens of fuel efficient cars on display from the local Bob Stall Chevrolet.Attendees will also be to receive living green tips from Brickman Landscaping. All of the festivities will take place on April 22nd at 11AM at the Grossmont Center and will be free to the public.

You don’t have necessarily have to celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd because on Sunday, May 1st the East County Earth Day will be taking place. The free event will kick off at 11AM on Mt. Helix Drive.East County Earth Day will include live music, speakers,a raffle, children’s activities, and exhibitors.

So get out and celebrate Earth Day in La Mesa, and continue to live Eco-friendly at Alterra.

Be your own chef at Alterra Apartments

Ladies and gentlemen of Alterra, no need to plan for dinner tonight because we will have dinner here at the property just for you.The local Papa John’s Pizza will be onsite selling pizza for our Alterra Pizza Party Purchase. This big event will kick off at 5PM in the Alterra Clubroom.

So what type of pizza do you enjoy the most? There will definitely be cheese and pepperoni on sale, so make sure you get there on time to get yours.As you all can tell, we love to make sure our residents of Alterra eat good with all of these great resident food events.We hope our residents enjoyed the Big City Chef’s Cooking Class earlier this week. So for those of you who attended, have you tried any of the recipes from the cooking class just yet? Let us know on our Alterra Facebook page.

La Mesa 2012 Spring Clean Up

With Alterra being an Eco-friendly apartment community in La Mesa, it is only right that we mention the annual La Mesa Spring Clean Up. This event will take place on Saturday’s April 14th and April 21st. Expect the event to be held at the EDCO Station between 7AM and 2PM on both Saturdays. The Spring Clean Up event will only be open to La Mesa residents and will be free of charge. Proof of residency will be required.

So what items will be accepted for recycling at the Spring Clean Up?

• Old Appliances
• Broken or Unwanted Furniture
• Electronics
• Reusable Items

If you are interested in receyling a few items, please call 287.5696 ext.4270 or email lmhhw@edcodisposal.com to make an appointment to dispose of HHW.

Don’t forget about all of the great Eco-friendly options we have here at Alterra including a onsite recycling program, trash compactors, ceiling fans, and so much more. For more information, please contact Alterra 866-959-5452.

Since we are advocates of green living at Alterra, we wanted to share some eco friendly laundry tips below courtesy of TLC:

• Instead of washing several small loads, try to consolidate your items into one wash if possible to conserve water and energy.  Please note that it is never a good idea to overstuff your washing machine, so sometimes it will be necessary to run a few loads of laundry back-to-back.
• Choosing to wash your clothes in cold water will help use less energy.  It also helps to minimize laundry errors as clothes generally don’t bleed in cold water.
• If you are washing several loads of laundry and utilizing your dryer, it’s a good idea to take advantage of the leftover heat from the dryer when throwing in another load.  This helps save energy as the dryer does not have to heat all the way back up again.
