For those in the dark, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a Joss Whedon directed three-part musical web series starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion. It tells the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to.

Act I has just been released, and you can check it out by clicking the image below. Stay tuned for Acts II and III on July 17th and 19th, respectively.

It may not be a movie, but regardless, this collaboration is a fanboy's wet dream. Set to be released in the next month or so, Buffy-creator Joss Whedon has created a three-part musical web series titled Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which stars Doogie Howser (aka Neil Patrick Harris) as the supervillain Dr. Horrible and Captain Mal Reynolds (aka Nathan Fillion) as the superhero Captain Hammer. Each episode will be about 10 minutes long.

Trailers for Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" and J.J. Abrams' "Fringe" Make Fanboys Drool

I'm not sure how Fox managed it, but they've secured a very strong lineup next season with two new television series by Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. It's somewhat shocking that Whedon is back with Fox at all, but I'm assuming he's still under contract and had no choice. Since the idiot executives who cancelled Firefly seem to be gone, he may have better luck this time as well. Fox was also wise to grab Abrams, who has crafted two insanely popular series (Alias and Lost) for ABC.

It looks like AMC is trying to continue their trend of high-quality TV productions with a new psychological thriller by Pi/Reqiuem for a Dream mastermind Darren Aronofsky. The series, Riverview Towers, is about a family who moves into a supposedly haunted apartment. Other talent on board includes John J. McLaughlin (screenwriter of Aronofsky's upcoming Black Swan), and Monster director Patty Jenkins.

Fans of Sci-Fi's sublime Battlestar Galactica can rest easy -- the series will live on beyond its upcoming fourth (and final) season in the form of a prequel series, Caprica. Set 50 years before the events of Battlestar, the prequel will give us a glimpse at the Cylon Wars as well as flesh out the history of the Adama family. A two hour pilot is currently being produced, with the hopes of it becoming a full-fledged series ala its older brother.
