A month has past since the senseless murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin. The overwhelming response to his death has shook the nation and the world. People need to realize that no matter what Trayvon’s past history portrait, The focus should be on the present and the last moments of his life. Someone unarmed wearing a hoodie in the rain, just trying to get home should not be gun down 100 yards from their home point blank. This is just about right and wrong, Justice needs to be served! 

It’s great to see the music industry getting involved when important situations like this effect a lot of people and they’re doing their part to spread awareness. Last night, Toronto native Melanie Fiona brought the house down at World Cafe Live in Philly. She mentioned she was a little under the weather, but even with a cold you wouldn’t know it. She was full of energy and you could really feel the emotions pooring out of her in each song she sang. “Wrong Side Of A Love Song”, “This Time”, “Running”, “Watch Me Work” “4 AM” ” and “Rock Scissors Paper” were the chosen tracks Melanie perform off her new album ‘The MF Life.’  She also thru in the best tracks off her first album ‘The Bridge’ which included “Bang Bang”, “It Kills Me”, “Give It To Me Right”, “Ay yo” and “Monday Morning.”  Melanie had to also perform her Grammy award winning record “Fool For You”  courtesy of Cee lo Green. Over all she knows how to put on a good show. You can really see her growth as an artist and entertainer. When I first heard the record “Monster” by Meg Myers, I was instantly drawn to her, the song is hauntingly beautiful. I was getting over a relationship that had ended, and this was a record I could really relate too a the moment. The emotion behind Meg’s voice hit me like a ton of bricks. Her vocal delivery reminds me of  the great Alanis Morissette in some ways. Meg has recently dropped her new EP ‘Daughter In The Choir’with 7 incredible tracks produced by Doctor Rosen Rosen also her writing partner. This is a great preview of what’s yet to come from this talented game changer. Enjoy!
