Today I just received an email from Kya to inform me that Bubble Hosting is now going to merge with Klue. Thus all new members will have to pay for hosting (i.e. free plans will no longer be available). And for thus existing members who had paid or donated to Bubble, they will be able to have Bubble/Klue largest plan on offer free for two years, after which time they will have to pay or downgrade to a smaller plan.

This means, in two years time, Kitty-Kat.org‘s disk space will be reduced. Ooooo…..

Anyway, just to let everyone know, I’ve snagged a job now which means these days are going to be a lot more hectic than ever. Oh me.

I’m quite excited because I finally found the book I wanted to read (Tales from the Perilous Realm by J.R.R. Tolkien). I couldn’t find it here in Brunei. I haven’t exactly looked into every bookstore in Brunei but there aren’t too many bookstores here so it is quite safe to assume the book is not currently being sold in this country. And I couldn’t find any online stores that ship the book to here without charging outrageous shipping cost. Fortunately my sister’s friend found the book in Malaysia and she’s going to get my dad (who will be in Malaysia as well for a couple of days) to bring it back to me.

Speaking of costly shipping charges, I want to get a replacement data cable for my sister’s digital camera since she’s lost the original cable. I found one on Amazon for USD8 but the shipping tax is 10 times the item’s cost! I think it’s just way too much so in the end I didn’t buy it. I would’ve just gone to the store where we bought the camera if they had any spare in stock (which they don’t, obviously).

It’s been a while since the last time I played Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town (MFoMT) (GBA platform) and I’m only picking it up again. Only that this time I can play it on the computer with the help of game emulator.

Kitty-Kat.org now has a new layout! I’ve finally changed the layout after using the previous one for umm.. a year? This isn’t exactly a brand new layout, actually. I created it some time ago for blogs powered by the Blogger platform. I’ve been meaning to convert it to WordPress but never got around to do it until today. It’s just a simple design and I used as little colours as I can; mainly brown, black and blue.

Yeah I think that’s the only update I can think of.

Wow I haven’t blogged on this site for close to 4 months! This is definitely a record-breaking moment. :p

Anyway, I’ve finally had the guts to tell my parents about my relationship with Leon. Surprisingly, they didn’t lapse into a fit and accept it quietly. But they did warn me to be absolutely-100%-no-backsies sure about my decision.

Other than that, there’s nothing much going on apart from I finally graduated after spending 5 years in university, got rejected for my Masters degree application and that I’m feeling low from the fact I don’t have a job.

Yeah. FML.

I admit that I am no expert coder, heck I don’t think I even qualify to be one. So it’s no surprise if I always stumble upon coding problems; just like any other coding noobs. Yet, whenever I come across a script and get stuck over some coding issues, I will try my hardest to fix it by myself. If I can’t, I try to seek for tutorials that may help me with the problem. In fact, that’s what I did when I was fiddling with the Build-A-Blog script. Not once I actually seek the help from the author(s). This is because, I feel that if I really want to use the script, I should try and figure out how it works.

The same rule should apply to everyone. I’m not saying that people shouldn’t come to me and ask for help, but it would really help if they could try and solve the problem themselves beforehand. I believe that one should make every attempt to tackle the issues before turning to others for assistance. This is what I call a learning process. If you keep relying on others to fix things for you, you won’t ever learn anything.

P.S.: My last post was almost a month ago, oy.

I seriously think people who put music players on their websites that are set to auto-play on page load are retards. Especially those who removed the STOP/PAUSE button of the music players. It is massively annoying. And it is fucking irritating when the music/song of MY CHOICE that I play on my computer is interrupted by some background music from the website. The morons simply assume everybody will share their taste in music. It’s arrogance on their part, I believe.

I think it is one of the worst aspect in user experience. The website owners take away the visitors choices of whether they want to listen or not to the music. HELLO, I don’t need your uninvited music, thank you very much. Or if YOU HAVE TO install one (I don’t see the need to do it), please place the music player where the visitors can see it (like at the top of the page?) so we poor visitors don’t have to search all over the place for the PAUSE/STOP button.

Oh you know what’s worse? It’s when you have lots of websites opened at the same time on different tabs and you HAVE NO BLEEDING IDEA which website the music is coming from. Plus, what if all of those websites have their own background music? *GASPS* OH NOOO!

Simply put, the said website owners just don’t hold respect for the visitors.

After such a long unannounced hiatus, Random Rants is back up and running again. The reason for the brief disappearance of the website was because the domain (amalina.org) on which this website is hosted has expired and I didn’t renew it on time. Boo. So I had to transfer the site to a new domain (the one you see now). Anyway, now that the site is active again I’m hoping to do a facelift by putting up a new layout. Then again that is not a certainty, I just might not do it at all as I am way too busy with offline life right now.
