I am so sorry everyone. I had planned to make you all new presents this year. But with my operation, my father’s accident, my grandfather’s illness, & my ER visits. I just don’t have the money to make them or send them. The only reason I have the ability to do the Pages bookmarks is because I squandered that money away last January. Otherwise they would have to wait until February to get them when my parents will be getting money in again (tax season starts again). November & December are always the tightest months in our family. If you want things done you do them prior to the last two months, but this time with the medical issues, I wasn’t able to save any money. Again I am so sorry.

The topic for this post is going to be…….READING!!! Yep, my absolute favorite hobby. Yes, it is even higher then cross stitching. My parents are huge readers so it was no wonder that as I grew up that I read also. I never got into trouble for not reading. I always got into trouble for reading too much. I was in second grade (about 7 or 8 years old) and I was already reading adult books, like Lord of the Rings, Gone With The Wind, Little Women, etc. I hated my school library cause they refused to let me check those type of books out. They only let me check out book in my age range. So I just brought my books from home. I can not even remember the number of times one of my parents had to go to school because I brought an older then my age range book to school to read. My teachers figured since I couldn’t read aloud very well, then I couldn’t read silently either. Wrong! I read very fast & I understand & remember my books. I find great pleasure in my reading. I enjoy reading almost everything I can get my hands on. Whether it be the back of a cereal box or my latest book. I know I am weird. I have to have a book with me or something to read at all times. If I don’t then I, honestly, feel like I am naked. You can go through my purse or my cross stitching bag & in one of them there will be a book.

I do not understand how people can not enjoy reading. In my case, it transports me out of the world that I am in & into another world where I am watching the story unfold. Sort of like a movie in my head. Now you tell me, how can people not enjoy that? I just don’t understand that. But some people don’t enjoy it & tell me it is a waste of time. I do not understand that.

I also don’t understand how people can buy a book & then not read it either. They say that it is a collectible. Ok, but what is the joy of that? To me books are made to read, if you don’t read & enjoy them, then you are not letting them reach their full potential. Is that understandable? A book wants to be read, that is the reason it was printed.

Then you have the people that read the books, but only read the surface of the book. They don’t get into the story. To me they don’t understand how wonderful a book is. How can they only read the story & not get into the story. To me that is not reading the story. I did that with the books I had to read in school. I didn’t enjoy those books, so I don’t think people enjoy reading when they just reading the surface of the books.

What is your opinion of reading? Do you read the surface or do you get into your books?

Well, I got to spend another night in the St. John’s Emergency room last night. This time I manage to get out of the house & onto the covered back porch. Then we (my parents & I) are guessing that I must have fallen & then had numerous seizures cause the only reason that my father found me was because in my seizures I was banging my right wrist into the washer front. So now my left hip, neck, right wrist, left shoulder, & the back of my head are really hurting. But the ER cat scanned my head & neck & x-rayed everything else & said that I didn’t break anything. Spent about four hours there waiting for the tests & the doc (rude one this time) to let me go. I even got to go in the ambulance! Yippee!!!! *please not that is being typed very sarcastically* I am honestly afraid one of these days I am actually going to either break something or kill myself with these stupid seizures. Oh, I forgot to say this all happened around midnight. So much fun. *again very sarcastic*

In other news I have updated Melly’s Wedding Gallery with a bunch of new wedding designs for her to look at. Hear that Melly!!!! But then I may have enough time to actually design her one so I may do that. I don’t know yet. It depends on what my muse (my world) give me to work with & time constraints.

Also I have made another gallery. This one is my BOINK gallery. I am simply crazy. This gallery is going to be a work in progress (WIP) for a very long time. The design is huge. It isn’t going to look anything like the colors in the picture to the left by the time I get through with it. I am changing the corners & I am not for sure if I am putting the middle knots in it. I haven’t really decided yet. I have picked my colors, but you will need to visit the gallery for that. I can’t give away everything here can I? I need to get you to visit the other parts of the sites every now & then, LOL. The design will be the same, just not the colors or the outside borders. Though I love the colors that Tracy picked I am not a primary color girl, I have to be different, LOL.

Oh, if you haven’t noticed that at the bottom of the posts there is a Now Playing list. Yep, I have started to post to Amarantine using Windows Writer & this is just one of the many plug-ins that it offers. It keeps listing the songs that my media player goes through while I put my posts together. But I do enjoy the remote posting cause it allows me to write my posts off-line & then post them when I go back online again. But again this is just another way to prove just how crazy my music listing is, lol.

I have to tell you about this book. It was wonderful. It is about Dean Koontz’s dog Trixie. It will make you laugh & cry, but it is worth the read. I don’t normally read non-fiction books, but when Mr. Koontz wrote about Trixie (I am an animal lover) I knew I had to read the book. He doesn’t get overly sappy nor does he gloss over how much Trixie meant to them. He was a wonderful dog owner. I really suggest you read this book.

Quick Note: I have moved all the baby designs into their own gallery for easier browsing. I just don’t think Jem was happy with the ones I had & so I picked out different ones. If she still choses the one she did then I will be happy to make it for her.

Now Playing: Consider Me Gone – Reba, Mamma Mia – ABBA, Thank You – Alanis Morissette, Just Dance – Lady GaGa, Forever Lovers – Mac Davis, One Week (Album Version) – Barenaked Ladies, Where’ve You Been – Kathy Mattea, Dirrty (feat. Redman) – Christina Aguilera, & Romeo – Dolly Parton

Well, I have had lots of fun for the last few days. I don’t know what it is that I ate that didn’t agree with me, but something did. Between the nasty food at Jefferson City & what every I ate when we got back home something didn’t like me. So I have been staying at my parent’s house cause I have been too weak & tired to go home plus the bathroom at my house is way to far away from my bedroom. So everything that I had planned to get done via site wise is post-poned until I get better. I didn’t even get to go to the library today because of my sickness. The doc says that within 24 to 48 hours I should be feeling better. Hmm…this is pushing on 48 hours now. Don’t worry, I am not pregnant. Haven’t been exposed, lol. Unless you can get pregnant by reading about sex. But if that was the case I would have been pregnant about half a million times by now. Though I have drunk enough lemon-lime Gatorade (the only flavor I can stand) to choke a horse. I hate the stuff. I don’t know how people drink it, but I need the stuff it has in it. Oh well, I will get better soon or die, lol.

I have beautiful pictures of Melly’s design. Though I have no strength to get up, go get the camera, load them to the laptop, customize them for the site, & then upload them. I am sorry. I wouldn’t even be making this post except for the fact that Daddy was nice enough to set the laptop up for me & all I had to do was turn it on & type. So the pictures will have to wait.

My grandfather has Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. Which isn’t actually horrible. It is treatable & able to be put into remission. So he is on his way to getting better. Though I am very happy that he is getting better, I just wish I hadn’t gone to Jefferson City. People up there are snobs & rude. They act as if they are the only ones that matter & you are some piece of trash laying in the street. I am so glad my parents moved away from there when I was three. I was born in Jefferson City & then my parents moved to where my father’s family was around Branson & Springfield in 1983 & we have been down here every since. Thank goodness. I love the people, the land, & the environment that I live in. I have nothing against those that choose to stay in Jefferson City but it isn’t for me. But then no city is for me, LOL.

Now my grandmother is in the hospital for an ulcer (they think) cause she hasn’t been eating like she should & hasn’t been taking care of herself. She is so concerned over grandfather that she forgets herself. She will be ok though. My aunt is going to keep up on top of things in that department also.

If it isn’t one thing it is another anymore. I swear we never get ahead.

I went to see a new doctor after my previous one just up & left without notice. Wasn’t he nice? Well, this one says that according to my medical history I am not having seizures but instead having pseudoseizures.

Pseudoseizures are a physical manifestation of an emotional disturbance. They resemble epileptic seizures, but, unlike the seizures caused by epilepsy, they are not caused by electrical disruptions in the brain. People experiencing pseudoseizures often experience loss of consciousness, grand mal-like twitching or jerking, and aggravated emotional states. These episodes may last for 20 minutes or more.

Hmm… ok. He also says that I need to talk to a psychiatrist. Why? There is no problem that I don’t discuss with my mother. I don’t talk to strangers. Period. Why do I need to talk to a psychiatrist? I don’t like those people. All the ones I have ever met only like to play mind games & I am not up to playing games anymore. This doctor doesn’t seem to be much older then me. I am not sure that I want to be taking medical advice from someone that young. He is just out of school & residency. He wants to take me off my Topamax but not my Paxil (good thing cause then there would be war in the doc office). I don’t know. He gave me my scripts so that is good for now. I can always look for another doctor between now & when I need my new scripts, I guess. I hate doctors, have I mentioned that? But then I hate the fact that I have to take medication just to be what I consider normal for myself.

And with that I will leave you until next time…

OMG! I can’t believe it. We went to Tulsa for the weekend for rest & relaxation LOL (also to give me a stress break from my court hearing). Well, we went to Silver Needle again hoping that they would have more clearance bundles (bags of about 10 charts books for $10) but they didn’t but I walked out with a huge bundle. Wanna see what I got? Sure you do, LOL.

Emma’s Garden by Lavender & Lace. I picked this one up cause it reminded me of Desi when I first seen her in her Grandmother’s garden. She was just four, but it was like she had never seen that many flowers in one place. She still gets like this five years later when the flowers start to bloom. She loves to pick out new annuals to plant every year. She loves to see what they wind up looking like. *As always click on the picture to view it full size.*

English Garden Sampler by Teresa Wentzler. What can I say about this one? I love it. It looks so calm & serene that I just couldn’t pass it up. Plus, it has peacocks on it. I can’t pass that up ever. Hee hee, peacocks are so beautiful no matter. Though they usually are too rigid for me, to uniform, LOL. I like to allow my garden to go free-form & wild looking. To me if it is wild looking then it is more nature looking. But I still find beauty in ordered English garden also. But then I find beauty in most Earthy things. I enjoy just sitting in the middle of it & enjoying the colors, sights & sounds the land makes.

I have actually bought a Châtelaine design. I think I must be losing my mind, LOL. But every time I went to Tulsa I thought of this one & finally they had it in the store. I just couldn’t help myself. I had to have it. It had gorgeous blues & beautiful peacocks in it. I have no idea when I will actually get to it or where I will hang it once I get it completed, but I couldn’t pass it up. I may decide to make it into a huge pillow or a window curtain. Though It probably would be safer as a picture. Though I do have to admit I doubt if this one will be a gift. Too much work & I doubt if anyone (unless they are a stitcher) would understand the amount of work that goes into these pieces.

Saint Sophia by Papillon Creations. They had this one done in the browns & it was simply too cute to leave in the store without me purchasing the chart for me to do. This one is going to be made into a pillow for my bed. I doubt if I am going to do it in any of the four color choices that are presented. I think I am going to do it in purples & teals or maroons & teals. I really think teals will be the focal point of this design. Of course the first thing is to get these all scanned onto my hard drive first, LOL. That way I don’t have to use my original copies & I can mark up my copies all I want. I do that will all my charts & books. I don’t care what the publisher’s say. They are mine & I will make copies for me as many times as I need them.

Well, Bubs received her present, but until she opens it (either before or on her wedding) you all don’t get to see the gallery. Sorry. I got the tweet message from her today telling me that she got it. Thank goodness. I was beginning to think it got lost. I know I am impatient, but that present meant a lot to me. I just wished I could have handed it to her in person, LOL. Trust me, I am the last person she needs at her wedding.

Hmm…*I know that Jem made her choice but something just didn’t read right in her response to me. So I have added more designs to the choices & here we go again. There are 24 here & if Jem still doesn’t find one she likes then I think I may pull my hair out. These are all the ones that I feel suit Jem & Karl. I may be wrong.

I am going to quote two news stories to you then I will make my post. I got these from my local paper (The Springfield News-Leader).

Man faces felony charge after alleged vigilante act
To police and prosecutors, Charles R. Webb is a criminal, who recklessly fired a gun from his car window Friday, near a host of Springfield businesses.

But let 75-year-old Mary O’Neal tell it, and Webb is a hero.

“I think he’s wonderful,” O’Neal said Monday. “I would give him a reward.”

It’s thanks to Webb, after all, that O’Neal has her purse, and the various personal items that it contained when it was ripped from her arm Friday night. Still, the woman can see authorities’ reasons for charging Webb with unlawful use of a weapon, a class D felony.

“I’m very unhappy about that, but I understand,” she said. “You can’t go around shooting a gun.”

The chain of events that transformed 61-year-old Webb from apparent well-meaning witness to alleged vigilante began at 9:15 p.m. Friday, police say. O’Neal had just completed a grocery run at a Price Cutter store at 3620 E. Battlefield Road.

“I go, oh, maybe 10 feet past the doorway and a young man came from behind me,” she said. “He grabbed the purse and yanked it.”

As the man “ran like a deer” to an accomplice’s awaiting vehicle, O’Neal gave chase. Meanwhile, Webb — who O’Neal learned was waiting for his wife to complete a grocery run of her own — looked on. Police say he chased the purse snatcher’s gray sport utility vehicle across Moulder Avenue, to the parking lot of a Super 8 Motel, 3034 S. Moulder Ave. A witness told police that Webb blocked the SUV in with his own car and, as the purse snatcher tried to escape, fired a 9mm handgun at the car three times. Webb has a concealed carry permit for the weapon. Across the road, O’Neal heard the shots.

“But he was aiming for their tires,” she said. “That’s what he was trying to do was just stop them.”

Indeed, Webb would allegedly tell police shooting out the vehicle’s tires was his goal. The purse snatcher’s SUV, though, was still mobile. Webb allegedly followed the thief east on Battlefield and out of city limits.
According to witnesses, the chase might have reached speeds of 80 mph, police say. Eventually, the SUV
turned around, and Webb followed the vehicle back toward the Price Cutter. They stopped on the 2900
block of South Moulder.

Webb allegedly got out of his car, gun in hand, and approached the purse snatcher’s vehicle.

He ordered the driver to turn off the car, and toss the purse and car keys out the window. The driver complied but apparently used an extra key to re-ignite the engine and flee. They have not been found.

While investigating the incident, police found evidence of three fired rounds in the motel parking lot, a probable cause statement says.

They also found two spent shell casings at the site of the second altercation, where the thieves tossed out O’Neal’s purse.

When a police officer asked Webb to explain the second set of casings, his attorney advised him not to answer, the probable cause statement says.

The man allegedly told police he hadn’t seen anyone in the purse snatcher’s vehicle display a weapon, but that “he fired at the other vehicle because he was in fear for his well – being,” the statement says.

Shortly after his arrest Friday night, Webb allegedly made another statement.

“He shouldn’t have done that,” police say Webb told an officer. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t let this go.”

Webb did not return a call for comment Monday. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine .

Though the man’s motives might have been pure, Police Chief Lynn Rowe said he acted too recklessly.

In situations like Webb found himself in Friday, police ask citizens to act solely as witnesses.

“Get a license plate number,” Rowe said. “We’ve had people follow suspects, which is fine if you don’t engage in a chase. People have to be prudent and keep an eye on the bigger picture.”

When Webb allegedly fired shots and raced through area roadways, he crossed the line between do-gooder and criminal, Rowe said.

For O’Neal, however, that line is somewhat blurred. Her purse — and the credit cards, cell phone and blood pressure medication within — are now safely back in her possession.

“He certainly helped me out,” she said. “There are wonderful people in Springfield, Missouri.”

And the second one that is a continuation of the first one:

Alleged vigilante loses permit

The Springfield man who allegedly fired several shots at a fleeing purse thief last week has had his concealed carry endorsement revoked, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

Charles R. Webb, 61, is charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon in the Friday night incident.

Police say Webb was waiting in his car outside a Price Cutter store, 3260 E. Battlefield Road , when he saw the purse- snatching occur.

The thief hopped into a waiting sport utility vehicle, and Webb pursued the man.

He allegedly cornered the SUV in a nearby motel parking lot, and fired three shots with a 9mm handgun at the vehicle, an apparent attempt to disable its tires.

The purse thief’s vehicle escaped, and Webb allegedly engaged in a chase that reached speeds of 80 mph.

Police say the chase ended near the Price Cutter store, and that Webb ordered the driver to toss the purse and his car keys out of the window.

The driver complied but apparently used an extra key to restart the engine and speed off.

The case has sparked heated debate on online message boards, with posters alternately defending and disparaging Webb’s actions.

The purse snatching victim, 75-year-old Mary O’Neal, has praised the man.

In Missouri, it’s legal to stow a registered weapon in a vehicle, even without a concealed carry
endorsement.

However, state law dictates the privilege must be taken away if a felony charge is pending against a permit
holder.

In light of the charge against Webb, the sheriff’s office has revoked his concealed carry endorsement, said Maj. Phil Corcoran.

Depending on the outcome of the criminal case, he might be able to re-apply for the endorsement, Corcoran said.

Webb is next scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

My Opinion – Is he a hero or a criminal?

Well, a little of both. Yes, he was doing a wonderful thing to try a get the lady’s purse back, but get the license plate number, don’t take off after the criminal. That is putting the criminal, innocent bystanders, yourself at risk. Or in my words being stupid. I am a woman & I carry very personal things in my purse, but nothing, I repeat, nothing is worth getting killed over. I can replace everything in my purse I can not replace a human life. This kind of thing is what I was afraid of when they passed the law. Yes, I know that guns do not kill or harm people, but if you put a gun in the hands of a person that does not think (case in point here) you will find that guns do harm people. I, for one, will not carry a gun (seizures aside) because I have a fast burning temper & too often I feel like hitting something (notice something not someone) & I am afraid that I would be to tempted to use it, LOL. Not that I ever would, but I don’t care to have that temptation available. I have more fun shooting my father’s 22 rifle at the targets. At least there, I know I am harming no one & all I am doing is burning my anger off. Plus, if keeps my eye-hand coordination up. But I am getting off track.

Should this man be charged with the felony of shooting in public? Yep. He could have killed the criminal, an innocent bystander or even himself. The bullets could have rebounded off of the asphalt (at least I think that they may have). Then who would have been responsible, hmmm? There is nothing worth killing another person over, nothing.

What do you all think about this? I have given you the stories straight from the paper, I haven’t edited it in any way, I have given you my opinion. Now it is your turn. All comments will be posted provided that they are relevant. All I ask is that you keep the language clean.

I can’t really think of a name for this one except for Battered Roses. I wanted a dark theme this time yet one that was easy to navigate & see. I hope I have managed to make this theme do that. Along the top bar you will find the main navigation. Then the sub-navigation will show up in the sidebar on the right. You will also find three columns of different info at the bottom of the site. I know the stuff isn’t needed, but I like having it there.

There will be some other changes that are happening behind the scenes. I have the Now Reading plug-in up & running. That is what is running my library now. I am also going to use the WPs coding for the links (hopefully). Thanks to Melly & her helpfulness & not minding when I come asking questions.

The galleries have moved to the Cross Stitch section cause that is all that is in there anyway. So I didn’t see the sense of leaving them as a section by themselves.

Hmm…I think that is all that I have changed at the moment. The entire site is running on a new database so hopefully it will go a lot smoother. It is for me, so here is to smoothness, lol.
