My mother has a favorite saying about life & wanted me to stitch it for her. I told her I would & that I would put bees & spiders (my mother most hated things) on it. She laughed & said ok. So when I got finished designing it, she told me that I should put it up on my site for others to download. So I thought I would offer it to you all as a thank you. But it does contain a bad word in it (well, some consider it a bad word). The word rhythms with witch,so from that you should be able to figure it out, lol. I warned you about the word so I don’t want to hear any fussing or fuming about it. I will just delete them if I get any.

Just click on the image to download the PDF file. I only offer PDF versions of my charts. I used Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 to create this, but my father has no problem open them with his reader. You are not allowed to break this chart apart & use the motifs separately.

I just want this known before I delve into my posting. I love & respect my mother. She has gone well above what a mother does. She takes care of me without complaint, does things that no mother should ever have to do for their 29yo daughter.

In my years (though I am not that old) I have observed two main types of women. Yeah, there are those that are in the middle (I should know, I am one of those that fall in the middle), but when it comes down to the bare bones it is two. You have dominant & submissive (not that it is a bad thing) women. Let me explain. Dominant women are normally your leaders, the ones that are in control of things. this is what they are comfortable with. Submissive women are your followers. They are happy to do what others ask them to do. There is nothing wrong with being either of these. Each one has strengths that the other doesn’t. In my own case, I am a very dominant woman when I deal with people outside my mother. When I deal with my mother I am more submissive. People don’t understand how I can be both, but I am one of those that can play both sides of the fence.

Normally, two dominant (at least highly dominant) will not get along very well without one giving ground. If one doesn’t give ground it will be a battle ground between the two of them. Though the battle may be a silent, it is a battle.

My mother is what could be called a dominant woman. Everything is either her way or her way. There is no other way. For example, the other night 48-hours was doing a show on Michael Jackson & his death that I would have liked to watch. Mom didn’t so we watched the news. Yeah, if I had asked to watch 48-hours we would have watched it, but she would have been very upset & complaining the entire time & would have picked a fight about it in a couple of days. Well, if you are going to be around my mother you are either going to have to be a less dominant woman or you are going to hate her. In my mother & my case I am the one that gives most of the time. But most of the time I don’t mind. Other times I do mind & a argument (aka fight) breaks out.

When I was in college I had a wonderful friend that was a classic version of a submissive woman. She would drive me insane sometimes cause she would just meekly go along with what ever anyone would say or tell her to do. Sometimes I honestly want to wring her neck, but that was her. But I finally realized that she was just showing her strength by meekly going along with everything. For that I adored her. Probably more then she ever knew.

When I am in a relationship with a man, I prefer to have a equal relationship with the man. I have seen what happens when the woman is dominant in the relationship (my parents marriage). But if I have to then I will be the dominant one in the relationship, there is no way I will ever let someone else be dominant over me. I have enough of that with my mother, lol.

So to save my sanity, you get to have this one. I have liked it since I seen it on WP.org so I am using it. I completely re-did the sidebar & I am still not happy with it, but I will work on it some more tomorrow in all honesty I will work offline tonight on my netbook & upload it tomorrow, lol.

I have so many pages to take off my netbook & add to Amarantine it isn’t funny. I don’t know why but everything comes to me at about 1am instead of when I actually have the internet. It is horrible.

You know I really like this theme, but it is bugging the devil out of me at the moment. Unless I decide to completely re-do the top navigation I am going to have to make another theme (though I do have one in the wings being worked one, it isn’t nearly ready yet) just to hold the new sections that I have completed. Even now this theme isn’t handling all the pages that it should (i.e. Archives). I am a little stumped on how to change the navigation & the links. The plan was to get them to work up like Melly’s but differently, but it isn’t working. Hence it isn’t completed yet. But on a good note, the galleries have gotten off the launching pad without a hitch. Now just to get those pesky links to work right.

Oh man, the area that I live in is under a major heatwave. We have been going to the local library everyday to get out of the heat. So on the plus side I get faster internet via the WIFI with my Netbook, but I am so wore out & in so much pain for the expense of it that I am dying or at least feel like it, lol. But I can’t really complain, I love the WIFI & the library is like a huge toy store. All those books *shivers in delight*

…came yesterday about 4pm. My parents told me Saturday night that there was going to be a family outing on Sunday. Ok, that wasn’t a huge deal. So we go to town on Sunday. Our first stop was the County Library (my version of a toy store). Then to my surprise my father pays the $50 to get us library cards. Our county library leaves a lot to be desired. They try, but they just can not afford to do a lot. But two counties over (were we go to town every week) has a wonderful library system. Unfortunately, if you live outside the county you have to pay $50 a year per family to have a card. But for the amount that I read & my family reads this will save oodles & boodles on book costs, lol. So now I have three new books to read, three new cross stitch books to scan, & about ten books on hold to read. , I am in absolute heaven. But I haven’t even got to the best part of the day yet.

Then Mom & Dad take me Staples (hate the store). Mom tells me that we are here to see if just by chance they sell PDAs. Nope, but they have me look at the Netbooks, with the understanding that I would not be getting it today, but I could look at them & see if they would work for what I was wanting. I fall in love with a little Acer Aspire D150, but they don’t have it in stock. So I didn’t think anything of it. Then Mom goes to Office Depot. Huh? So we go in but they don’t have the one in stock either, but they have the next size up which is only about $75 more & with it you get a longer battery life & a bigger hard drive. So Mom said to me, Merry Christmas, Hev. Then went ahead & bought me the Netbook & $20 Targus (best cases & customer support ever) case for it. I just about fell through the floor in shock. The entire bill was $441 & then afterwords I find out that Mom & Dad have been saving for the last nine months to get me this. I stopped them & asked them to take it back & use the money for themselves, but they refused. What wonderful parents I have. So now I am setting it up to house my book lists, cross stitch inventory lists, & my E-Books. Oh, this little baby (it’s name is Shami) also has a web cam *what is that?* & a WIFI *what do I do with that & what it is?* card. HELP? So at the moment, all I am planning on putting on it is Adobe Reader, Open Office (just the word processer & spreadsheet), Microsoft Reader (my e-reader, since I don’t know any other), Firefox (for once I learn how to work the WIFI), Editpad (for the times when I do code), & my organizer (I use C Pro Organizer, very small program). I am hoping my friends will at least tell me what a webcam is & how a WIFI works. When I looked WIFI up there was so much technical jargon I got confused.

Oh, by the way, the galleries here at Amarantine are finally live, if you care to visit them. You can get to them by clicking on the last choice in the top navigation. There are two albums at the moment, but I am busy loading more pictures & pages, so you never know when more will show up, lol.

Umm…maybe this would be the right time to tell everyone that I am known to play both sides of the fence when it comes to conversational subjects, i.e. the previous post. My friends get infuriated with me cause I may start out on one side then switch to another just to make things interesting. Yeah, I know it doesn’t let anyone know my true feelings, but that is the way I am.

But seriously though. I love the fact that is a Disney movie out with a interracial relationship, a different time era, & a black princess. I am also aware that Africa is a continent (my seizures screw up my word processing & I say or type one thing while probably meaning another sometimes) & I missed that word when I read back through the post. Sorry about that one. I am also aware that there were errors major errors in all the stories that Disney produces. What movie that is based on a book or story is without them?

What I was trying to say about Africa was that I think it would be a really good idea if Disney would take a African legend, story, etc & turn it into a movie. I think it would bring about a lot of interest into the horrible plight in that continent. *See I got it right that time* I think they should do that with all cultures & areas, but this is my opinions. Personally, I enjoy learning about different cultures, religions, clothing (especially clothing) & history.

What I was trying to say about the time era is that if Disney isn’t careful about when they may tread to hard on the Blacks that still feel hatred over what the Whites did to them. Do I think enslaving them was wrong? Hell yes! Would I change it if I could? Hell yes! But do I think some of them take it a little to far? Yes, I do.

The name of the Princess is confusing (very very pretty) but confusing. It almost sounds like a name of one of the slaves out of Roots, but I may not be correct. That made Mom wonder if they were setting the story during the slavery times *bad times*. Then Stephanie told me that it was during the Jazz era & if I did my research correctly then that makes it the period of 1918-1930. I did research cultures & other items during this time. There was still a line drawn between the Blacks & Whites. Geesh, that line in some places still hasn’t disappeared completely (even though it sometimes has gone the other way & Whites are the ones discriminated against); at least where I live it is that way.

I am not a racist. I do not care about the color of your skin. I do not care about the color of the skin for the person you love. If you love them then I am happy for you. Do I get into arguments with some of my offline friends about this? Yep. Does it change my feelings for them? Nope, it is their decisions & feelings. You should hear the discussions we get into over religion & abortion, lol. They are enough to make you think we all hate each other.

I don’t think African Princess should only wear tribal clothing. Hell, wear what they want to wear. Go naked if they want. As for learning about a country in Africa, I am well aware that you can not learn about it through a cartoon, Amanda. But you can learn a little bit & it can cue your interest & make you want to learn more. How do you think I got interested in cats? Hmm? From Aristocrats (the Disney movie). I watched it & it made it curious so I read about cats. That was what I was saying.

I have never understood racism either, Christine. I live with one that is mildly racist & I still don’t understand it. To me all life is precious whether it be the plant in the soil, to the newborn child in the hospital. I don’t care what it is. I have a fit over killing a spider or a mouse that is in the house.

Inter-racial relationships are fine with me, Manda. I have a couple of friends that are in them. Personally, I think most Black men are quite handsome & elegant looking. But that is another thing. My point is that in real life outside of the movies & where I live those bi-racial children are bullied. I know that they are cause I have seen it. It is horrible & though it is wrong I have actually seen teachers & parents turn a blind eye to the problem. You will find when it comes to any child I am like a Tigress protecting it’s cub. I don’t care who the child belongs to, I will not let a child get hurt if I can stop it. Even if I can’t stop I will do my damnedest to protect the child.

I think that has cleared all the confusion or made my feelings about the race & racial issue known. Hmm…it seems you all like conversational subjects. Maybe I should do more of these. Hmm…let’s see I could play the religion, abortion, stem cell, cloning, & a bunch of other. Hmmm…I’ll think about it. I can start out with my personal opinion & then jump the fence.

What in the world are they thinking? I am all for a African Princess, but can we please make the story line in Africa? I saw the story promo on CBS News tonight. No, I am not saying that all Africans belong in Africa, but if you remember Pocahontas was set in her time & place, Mulan was set in her place & time. So why may I ask is this princess dressed in a Cinderella style dress in a castle? I have never seen a African Princess dressed like that. They could turn this movie into a huge learning experience if they would set the storyline in Africa. Geesh, I wouldn’t even mind learning more about that country.

Then I find out that the Prince in the story is Brazilian? Huh? I don’t have a problem with inter-racial relationships, but I don’t think that parents are going to like that. Again I think it would be better, if it was an African Prince.

I know that Walt Disney is still saying that the story & characters are developing, but I think that they really need to do some thinking about the line of thinking they are doing. I have been eagerly awaiting the African Princess, but I was hoping that it would take place in Africa & have the traditional clothing & tribes. That would have been very interesting to me. I am not saying that I won’t see the movie “Princess & The Frog”. But I would love to see the storyline change.

What do you all think?

but I am grateful for them. Let me explain. Yesterday (Thursday) I was just piddling on my computer & stitching when I heard a car pull into the driveway. Hmm…I knew it had to be a box from the post office cause no one ever visits without calling first. When you live in the boonies people get lost very very easy. So I went out & discovered my postwoman with a big box for me. I thanked her & brought it in the house. I was completely blown away by what I found inside. There was no return address, packing slip or anything on it. According to the stamps on it though I am guessing it came from overseas or Canada (I don’t have any friends in Mexico or South). Given the nature of what was in the box, I immediately suspected Rhea (one of my best friends that lives in Ireland) but she swears that she didn’t send it. Though I am not really believing her. Hmm…I have a feeling that I am never going to know who this stalker is. Wanna see what I got? Of course you do, .

Well, I had planned on this entry being full of happiness, but I am just too depressed to make it so. So instead of filling it full of the reasons why I am depressed (short part: stress & too many things needing to get done) I will tell you what is happening right now. I know not very interesting, but oh well.

One thing, I do want to introduce my new avatar. I have always wanted an avatar that was me. Kinda like Jem’s or Melly’s or any other avatar that people knew without looking at the name who it was. Well, the other day mom & I were at Justice Jeweler’s & I happened to see this adorable shamrock charm. Mom told me that I could have it to add to my necklace. She remarked that no matter what I have always been drawn to shamrocks. For some reason that remark stayed with me & kept hitting me upside the head until I drew the picture to the right. When it was completed (the outline) I couldn’t find the right green that I liked until I hit the colors that are there. Yep, I know that those colors are not the normal colors for a shamrock, but for me I like them. If you will also notice that there is a needle in the shamrock to represent my cross stitching, lol. So I am happy with it & I doubt if I will change it again. Now I am making my way throughout my online presence to change all my identities to this image. You can even see in the charm on Tiger Whispers Stitching I have implemented the shamrock.

I get to miss Desi & Jock for the entire week. They are both on a horseback riding camping trip in Arkansas this week. So I don’t get to have them this week, but Desi was very excited to go. Though she wanted to take Patches (the horse she usually gets to ride) but couldn’t since Patches still needs to stay with her babies. So Desi is riding a gelding called Sky High. Jock is riding a gelding called Rust & Desi says that though Jock will never be a “born in the saddle” man, he isn’t too bad. Oh, they are going with the riding class that Desi belongs too.

There is a new posting over at Tiger Whispers Stitching that isn’t & won’t be posted here.

I have recently done some figuring *thanks to my OpenOffice Spreadsheets* & I have discovered that on my thick books (over 600 pages) alone I have spent over $600 replacing them in the last eight months. That would be my Gabaldon’s, Jean Auel’s. Goodkind’s, Mist of Avalon series. I couldn’t believe that. Now I have even more reason to save my money up for a Kindle ereader or Sony ereader. Haven’t decided which one I really want. I do know that which ever one I do get it is going to have to meet some standards, which are:

Handle a lot of use. I read anywhere from six to eight hours a day if not more.

Handle abuse if I decide to take it places. For example my purse on vacation.

Would love to be able to change the batteries, cause rechargeable ones do not last forever

The ability to back up the books on my own computer

The ability to read the books on my own computer would be a plus

Wireless download option is not needed. Prefer to download to my computer.

At least 1500 books. Don’t need newspapers, mags, or blogs.

I have done research & narrowed my choices down to either the Kindle or Sony. The Sony is cheaper, but the accessories for it are more expensive. Whereis the Kindle is more expensive but the accessories are cheaper. I am basically looking at about $470 for the ereader. That is a huge amount of money for someone that isn’t working. But if I can monitor my cross stitching budget & not go crazy, Mom says that she will hold what I don’t spend of that budget & possibly by next year I may be able to afford it. But I have to make sure that the Family is able to do without the money. If we have a bad year then the money will be needed to live on. I am not about to take money that is needed elsewhere.

I have added my review for Outlander in the liabrary section. I am trying to figure out a way to rework that section. I am kinda waiting on Melly’s post about incorporating Mediashelf into WP. But then when I went to download Mediashelf I couldn’t find it. I don’t know. I want something that all I have to do is enter the title, author, & possibly the image. Aargh! I think I am so lazy some times. I don’t know. Where can you download MediaShelf?

In other news, my mother is after me to crochet her a grocery bag for the past to weeks. I swear she is going to learn how to crochet from a pattern one of these days or I am going to scream. If you will also notice that this is number one. Mom has also decided that she likes this one so much she has already purchased the yarn for about two more. I am sitting here thinking. Hmm…I have four xstitch projects that have to be done & she wants a total of three bags crocheted. Where am I supposed to find the bloody time to do those? , this is my mother. Don’t we love them?

Oh for those that are interested I do have a Dreamwidth account now. It is called Amarantine also (I know real original, lol). One warning though, the journal is going to be my “adult” journal. Since Desi isn’t allowed into it, language & subject matters are going to be more mature then here. Feel free to follow or whatever you do in Dreamwidth. I am still learning everything that is in there.
