5th Annual Youth Conference Inspires Teens, Unites Families

Over 500 youth and their families attended the fifth annual Amazing Facts Youth conference, Vertical Vision: Learn to Look Up, from June 11 to 14, 2025, with as many as 1,500 attending the Sabbath services. Held at the Granite Bay Hilltop Church on the Amazing Facts W.O.R.D. Center campus, the Spirit-filled conference inspired young people to stay focused on Jesus and provided them with practical tools for their spiritual journey.

“Vertical Vision was a huge blessing to me!” said Elliana, from San Diego. “All the speakers had such powerful messages. I could tell the Holy Spirit was speaking through them. It was also encouraging to meet fellow youth who love the Lord. By the end of the conference, my faith was greatly strengthened, and I feel so encouraged to make changes in my life for Jesus!”

The weekend also included outreach activities, a special concert on Sabbath afternoon put on by the young people, and afterglow sessions. Delicious meals prepared and served by volunteers provided the perfect venue for young people to build meaningful friendships. A special Amazing Adventure program designed for children aged 7 to 11 was also held.

The Holy Spirit’s Moving

God worked powerfully to reach the hearts of the young people. “I’ve been to past AFY meetings and all of them have been powerful,” said Benjamin from Costa Rica. “But this time I saw people listening who I thought maybe didn’t care. I saw a movement within God’s people—the Holy Spirit was working.”

Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts International, saw the same thing: “Sometimes you can just sense the Lord parting the waters. He did that at AFY 2025. It increased my belief that God really wants to reach the youth at this time in Earth’s history.”

Young people, and often their parents, streamed forward for appeals given throughout the weekend. “It was thrilling to see the youth dedicating themselves to serving the Lord,” said Tony Scarpino, AFY coordinator. “Vertical Vision left a deep and lasting impact. I saw so many encounter Christ in a fresh, powerful, and deeply personal way. There were so many divine appointments!”

Inspiration to Look Up

Weekend speakers challenged the youth to put away distractions and focus their energy on knowing Jesus and sharing Him with others. Pastor Doug, Carlos Muñoz, David Shin, Dr. Eric Walsh, and Oceana Munsey each gave inspiring messages and participated in a question-and-answer session.

“I truly felt God working in my heart during AFY 2025,” says Misha, who traveled from Tennessee to attend. “The speakers openly addressed issues that youth face today. I learned why and how to guard my mind from worldly influences and instead lift my eyes to God. I experienced a spiritual revival and feel a deeper desire to lead others to the same truth and live with intention away from the world’s influence.”

“It’s so refreshing to hear speakers preach the truths that are hard to hear but need to be said,” added Natalie, who watched from Chicago. “The messages were engaging and gave me practical ways to strengthen my faith and focus the habits and decisions I make on Christ. Family Blessings

Many families traveled long distances to attend Vertical Vision. They came from Florida, New York, Washington State, Southern California, and everywhere in between. One family had never been to a Sabbath-keeping church but had been watching Amazing Facts programming and decided to attend.

Jessica and her family made a three-week road trip from Virginia to attend the youth conference. Her 13-year-old daughter, Isabel, was baptized on Sabbath afternoon. “It’s been a huge blessing for our family to be here. We’re really happy that Isabel could be baptized as part of this weekend.”

Janine brought her four children from Southern California to Vertical Vision. “It’s the first time we’ve been to an AFY conference,” Janine shares, “but we’re so glad we came. It’s been such a powerful thing to see how it’s affected my kids and their commitment to follow Christ and live for Him.”

One father said, “I had lost hope for my daughter. I’ve been trying to hold her back from the world but was almost ready to give up. Thank you for giving me hope to keep praying for her.”

“The Amazing Facts Youth Conference marked a before and after in our family,” said a family from Alaska. “We returned home with a renewed and firm decision: to keep looking up, cleanse our lives from every trap of the world, and pursue our sanctification with diligence and joy. We’re already planning to come back next year—and bring others with us!”

Outreach Opportunities

On Thursday and Friday afternoons, AFCOE instructors Carlos Muñoz and Daniel Hudgens taught the youth how to share their faith. Their enthusiasm for witnessing was contagious, and over 100 young people went out each afternoon to pray with people and give out free copies of Footsteps, a reprint of Steps to Christ by Ellen White. Many came back with stories to tell.

Eden from New Mexico reported: “We went to a park to witness. Some people gave us a cold shoulder, but we were able to give books to several people. It was my first time doing something like this, so I’m glad I was able to get over the dread of it.” It was the first time for many of the other kids as well.

Some of the young people got creative. One group went into Walmart and prayed for the people they saw there. Another group of boys slipped them into unexpected places in a grocery store and dropped them in shopping carts. The Farnham family played their guitars in front of a local music store and gave books to people who came by. A duo of girls left books on park benches. “They kept disappearing,” Abby said. “So it must have been working.”

“Attending the AFY Conference was such an enriching and spiritually reviving experience!” says Alyssa, who came from Georgia. “Being able to serve alongside my friends, meeting and connecting with new people, and hearing impactful sermons really encouraged me to dive deeper into the Word. It was a great reminder of how we, as young people, can be a light in this world and an example this generation needs!”

Amazing Facts Youth also hosts two weekly youth-led meetings online. “Hey Let’s Pray” is a prayer meeting for youth that meets every Monday at 6:00 PM PT. AFY Live vespers on Fridays at 6:00 PM provides a place for youth to draw closer to God, share their talents, and build friendships with other young people who love God.

Amazing Facts Celebrates 60 Years of Miracles!

Sixty years ago, God inspired a group of pastors to pray for a new way to do evangelism. He gave them a surprising idea: an innovative radio broadcast designed to catch the attention of secular people and teach them Bible prophecy.

The first program aired on March 7, 1966, on WBMD in Baltimore, Maryland. A young car salesman happened to hear that broadcast. Bringing Hope to the Grieving: Amazing Facts in the Dominican Republic

A team of 150 volunteers from Amazing Facts International and the Granite Bay Church traveled to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from April 6–13, 2025, to provide free medical and dental services, assist with church construction, conduct children’s outreach, and train local church leaders in evangelism.

The weeklong trip ended on a high note when God turned a nationwide tragedy into an opportunity to share the gospel in a big way.

“Jesus ministered to every aspect of a person’s needs,” said Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts. “He preached the gospel and healed the sick. We tried to follow His example and do a little bit of everything in the Dominican Republic so that we could reach as many people as possible while we were there.”

Ministering Like Jesus

During the week, the medical and dental teams served over 1,000 individuals, offering free care at the Invivienda Sports Complex. One little girl had been born with an extra finger protruding from the side of each hand. Orthopedic surgeon Todd Christiansen removed the extra fingers and gave her a chance at a normal life. His wife, Debbie, shares, “It is moments like this that make the mission so worthwhile!”

An organization called “Chair the Love” brought 50 donated wheelchairs to give to people who could never afford one. One of the recipients was an impoverished elderly woman who suffered constant pain from a broken leg that had healed improperly. Her radiant smile of gratitude touched the hearts of the missionaries. “What a joy it was to see the lit-up faces of this group of disabled individuals,” says Debbie. “But you can’t even imagine how my face lit up when I saw that darling woman sitting in her brand-new wheelchair and her beaming face!”

The construction team partnered with Maranatha Volunteers International to help construct a new church building in Santo Domingo and paint a nearby church that was in disrepair.

[PQ-HERE]The children’s ministry team conducted a vacation Bible school for about 300 children in a local school. They also visited an orphanage in Bonao and a poverty-stricken family. The team donated clothing, shoes, toys, and school supplies to bless the children.

Amazing Facts leadership also conducted a two-day evangelism training seminar for 350 pastors and 250 local church leaders. These leaders received practical tools and biblical resources to use in their ministry.

Tragedy Turns Into an Opportunity for the Gospel

The week the mission team arrived in the Dominican Republic, a concrete roof collapsed on a nightclub in Santo Domingo, killing over 230 people. The disaster shocked the island nation, and Luis Abinader, president of the Dominican Republic, proclaimed six days of mourning.

All public gatherings—including the large Sabbath convocation Amazing Facts was planning to host—were canceled during mourning.

“We could sense the devil fighting to keep us from sharing the hope of Jesus,” says Pastor Doug. “Some of the local church leadership contacted President Abinader and explained that our previously scheduled event would turn into a day of prayer for the whole country. He loved that idea and gave us permission to proceed.”

What had been planned as a “day of brotherhood” for Dominican Sabbath-keepers became a community-wide day of prayer and healing for the grieving nation. The response was overwhelming.

“Over 10,000 people came because they heard it was a day of prayer for the country,” Pastor Doug explains. “They stayed all day! Even the mayor attended. People were very grateful and thanked Amazing Facts for coming.” The event took place in an outdoor pavilion and included biblical teaching, prayer, and even a baptism ceremony held in pools just 18 inches deep.

“Truly, the Lord turned what the devil meant for harm into a great blessing!” shares Pastor Doug.

Pastor Doug Has Divine Appointment in Brazil

Over the 2025 Resurrection weekend, Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts International, spoke at a Christian convocation in Brazil. Over 2,500 were in attendance for the sermon presented on Sabbath morning. Pastor Jëan Ross, vice president of evangelism, also offered a seminar on how local churches can experience better growth.

Together, they presented a Bible Answers Live-type program during which eager audience members were able to get answers to their questions.

Hander Heim, director of Amazing Facts Brazil, provided translation throughout the weekend. In 2022, the Amazing Facts Brazil ministry was established and held its first AFCOE training program.

While the weekend was Pastor Doug’s first public speaking engagement in Brazil, many youth and young adults at the convocation were already familiar with him through his book The Richest Caveman and from watching Amazing Facts’ programs.

Surprise Interview

Just before returning to the United States, a series of divine “coincidences” led to Pastor Doug being scheduled for a five-minute interview on a secular TV news station, REDE, the fifth-largest TV network in the country. “I almost canceled that interview,” Pastor Doug explains. “We were flying home the next day on a tight schedule, but the Lord convinced me to keep this appointment.”

The planned five-minute interview with Hermano Henning, a well-known news anchor in Brazil, was at 7:00 pm. However, the prime-time segment turned into nearly a half-hour interview! Mr. Henning asked Pastor Doug about the Sabbath, the Ten Commandments, and his conversion story.

The interview took place right after a lengthy report on the pope’s death. Mr. Henning then asked Pastor Doug what he thought about the pope’s passing—a delicate question in a country with more Catholics than any other in the world. “He also asked me about Bible prophecy, the book of Revelation, and the three angels’ messages,” Pastor Doug shares.

[PQ-HERE]It was an extraordinary opportunity to share about Amazing Facts. Throughout the interview, the TV station put up the Amazing Facts Brazil website on the screen. Pastor Doug says, “I think that interview made a greater impact on Brazil than all of our other presentations!”

Something unusual also happened during the interview. Hander Heim translated Mr. Hennings’ questions for Pastor Doug from Portuguese into English, but Pastor Doug says, “I suddenly understood everything Mr. Henning was saying, even before the translator whispered in my ear.” After the interview, Pastor Doug could no longer understand what Hennings was saying.

“I’m still pinching myself,” Pastor Doug marvels, “and praising God about the divine providence of all of this. The same day the pope dies, a Sabbath-keeping pastor is invited on a national news network in one of the most densely Catholic countries in the world to explain to [a potential audience of] over 200 million people why he joined the remnant church! Maranatha! The Lord is coming!”

The theme for this year’s event is Vertical Vision: Learn to Look Up. The four-day conference is designed to help young people discover how to stay focused on Jesus, no matter how distracting life is. Attendees will learn essential strategies for riveting their attention on Christ so that they can “set [their] mind[s] on things above, not on things on earth” (Colossians 3:2).

Creation Summit Reaffirms Faith, Draws Record Crowd!

Over 2,200 people gathered at the W.O.R.D. Center this past weekend for the Creation or Evolution Summit, which was hosted by the Granite Bay Hilltop Church and Amazing Facts International. Attendees came from as far away as Ireland to better understand the scientific and biblical foundations of their faith.

Speakers for the weekend included Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts International; Clifford Goldstein, author of Baptizing the Devil; Walter Veith, Ph.D. in Zoology; and Rich Aguilera, president of One Mustard Seed.

Though each speaker covered very different subjects, each gave solid reasons for believing in God as the Creator who made our world in six literal days.

Many audience members expressed appreciation for the weekend and its impact on their faith. “I’ve been in public schools all my life, so I’ve never had an opportunity to hear the scientific support for creation,” said Zugey, a recent college graduate living in the Sacramento area. “Listening to these presentations has totally changed my perspective on our origins and strengthened my faith in God and the Bible.”

Building Faith Locally and Abroad

Weekend attendees came to the Creation or Evolution Summit from near and far. Some came because of the invitation of a church member or from advertising at the local community college. Others saw the giant inflatable stegosaurus in front of the W.O.R.D. Center! Still others saw online ads or received an email from Amazing Facts.

Brian and Shauna from Yakima, Washington, received an email about the event and made a family road trip. “It was all really good,” they enthused. “Our kids liked Rich Aguilera, and we all enjoyed the variety of speakers. They each added a unique perspective that was helpful for us.”

Patrick and Aline from Kildare, Ireland, made the Creation or Evolution Summit part of their recent trip to the United States. “We’ve learned so much this weekend,” Patrick said. “Pastor Doug’s testimony was instrumental in bringing me to the Lord. So getting to meet him in person was a blessing.”

The livestream recordings of the event have already received over 60,000 views since the weekend. They are also posted on social media and the AFSummit.org website. Each program will also be repackaged for television and posted in multiple languages online.

“People will be watching these presentations for years to come,” said Pastor Doug. “This is clearly a topic that people are interested in. I know it was immensely productive in reaching people’s lives.”

About 400 people stayed for a prayer breakfast Sunday morning with Pastor Doug and Dr. Veith. The Granite Bay Pathfinder Club hosted the occasion. Says Pastor Doug, “I am so proud of our church members and Amazing Facts staff for all their hard work for this weekend.”

Why Talk About Creation and Evolution?

Until the middle of the 19th century, most Westerners believed that God created the world in six literal days. Then Charles Darwin and other scientists began promoting a naturalistic view of origins that denied God as the author of creation. Their new theory directly opposed the biblical record of creation in Genesis 1 and 2 and denied the worldwide flood recorded in Genesis 7.

The Creation or Evolution Summit sought to demonstrate that one can faithfully believe the biblical creation account while also engaging with modern science.

It also highlighted the important implications for Christians who believe in the three angels’ messages. The first angel’s message includes a call to “worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water” (Revelation 14:7).

“We are being called back to worship the Creator who made all things,” says Pastor Doug. “To reach non-Christians and atheists who are genuinely seeking truth, we need to provide them with logical answers and scientific evidence that supports the Bible’s account of creation.”

Solid Reasons for Faith

The Creation or Evolution Summit speakers presented solid scientific and intellectual evidence supporting the biblical account of creation. “We have different styles of presentation,” shares Pastor Doug. “Walter is more cerebral. Cliff is more philosophical. Rich is animated and did a great job keeping the kids engaged. But we all pointed in the same direction—to the glory of God and the reliability of His Word.”

Goldstein’s presentations built a solid philosophical foundation for believing in God as the Creator. Dr. Veith presented challenges regarding irreducible complexity, the Cambrian explosion, gaps in the geological column, the lack of intermediary fossils, among other things. Aguilera’s dramatic presentation on creation held the attention of young and old alike. Rich also gave an engaging presentation on Sabbath afternoon for over 150 children aged 8 to 13.

[PQ-HERE]“Before I was a Christian, I used to feel sorry for people who believed in creation,” says Pastor Doug. “I felt like there was no purpose for my life and often contemplated suicide. Then, I lived alone in a Southern California cave and began to realize that the beauty I saw could not have happened by chance. Discovering the God of creation in the Bible gave me hope and a purpose.”

“I think all of us want to believe in the truth,” Aguilera adds. “None of us want to be deceived, yet the enemy is out to deceive us. He is trying to hide the truth from us. That’s why I’m thankful that God gave us the Bible so we can know the truth.

“I can honestly say I’m at the stage of my experience where not just the existence of God, but the existence of a God of love is the most obvious truth I know,” Goldstein concluded. “It’s like the veil is torn, and the reality of the Creator’s love screams out at me.”

AFCOE 3-Month Course Begins August 2025!

Amazing Facts International is excited to announce that our Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism (AFCOE) will hold its fall 2025 3-Month course in Granite Bay, California, beginning this August!

The three-month program coincides with a Sacramento-area evangelistic series, meaning students will help several congregations prepare for a reaping event while receiving professional, intensive outreach training, including giving Bible studies, answering difficult Bible questions, organizing effective pre-work, discipling new believers, and much more.

However, the training provided for this series is not meant to benefit only local students. Carlos Muñoz, AFCOE director, says, “We invite everyone, from everywhere, to come train and work for this event and learn how to replicate it in their local congregations. What you learn and practice here will help you grow your community of faith wherever you live!”

AFCOE is designed to help Christians from all backgrounds speak persuasively for Christ in public settings, develop a vibrant devotional life, confidently share their faith with others, and identify their specific calling in ministry.
