1. Is it the employee that is quitting with a two week notice that has no stake in the success of your office?
2. Is it an employee that you think is great at their job following ALL the procedures and protocols that you have as policy for the running of you office? (Sorry to say not many of us have that kind of staff) By the way when was the last time you checked?
3. Do you show the staff the job once or do you put them in front a computer to watch and training video and trust they watched it comprehended it and are now doing it correctly or completely?                       4. Or does the training in your office comes from on the job experience and you let them handle it by trial and error? Eventually they figure it out and a system that will work for “them”.

Now I would ask you which category above best describes your office. First, you have to realize that your staff is the first impression potential patients have of your office. They can decide to come or not come into your office from that first experience with your staff. Would you not agree? That this an important area that deserves your attention?
How about the first visit, when you’re gathering all the vital and required information (HIPPA LAWS). Does this not deserve you attention?
Let’s look at the financial side of the practice….collecting money (who, how and when would be a great thing to know about don’t you think? Does this area deserve your attention?
Or maybe patient care, your treatment care follow through (what is being said to you patients in the private conversations or what advice is being given intentional or not?
Doctor what part of YOUR office is least important? Then that is the area that you can let the above four scenarios apply to.
That’s right it’s your office, your business, your income and your reputation. You need to put value in the Chiropractic Assistants job. You need to make and investment of your time and knowledge into them and the jobs. No you don’t have to hold their hand but you need to set time to show them that you do care about these areas and then set up easy cross checks to know that you care enough to follow up and help them grow. Invest into education for the more they understand what Chiropractic is and what it can do the more enthusiastic they will be about their place and responsibilities in the office. You see the truth is you get out of it what you put into it. Do you really want to put this important position into the hands of the one who looks at it as a job or would you rather spread you love, passion and knowledge to others. Be smart with your time and give it to the ones who will make a difference. You won’t be sorry!
