Women's Fellowship Meeting Moved to Oct. 27th

Youth Heading for Cornfield Maze Fri., Oct. 10

It's time to get your compass out and put your platform shoes on, because we're headed to our annual trip at the Turpin Farms Cornfield Maze.

This Friday night, Oct. 10, we will meet at the church at 5:30pm in order to drive to Newtown, where Turpin Farms is located. Tickets are $9.00 for ages 13 and up and $7.00 for kids 13-2. Children under 2 are free. If you also want to do the Field of Fright, combo tickets for both mazes are $15.00.

Also, there is a hayride and other fun things to check out. You'll have loads of fun. Check out Brian's blog for more details.

Women's Bible Study

Start Building Your Car for Veggie Tales Drive-In!

The Amelia Church of Christ KidZone is hosting a free Veggie Tales Drive-In on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. Be creative and build your own car to bring inside the auditorium for our upcoming indoor Drive-In. Be sure to register your child for the event by letting Melanie know the number who will be attending.

We are pleased to announce the launch of www.ameliakidzone.com!!! We have been anticipating this day for months and we are so excited that the day has arrived.

So, what does the launch of this website mean for you? It means that you are going to have information at your fingertips about everything that goes on in KidZone! Each week you will be able to come to the Parent Connection and learn about what your child(ren) has learned in the time they were in church. The reason we are so excited is the fact that you will be able to reinforce the themes throughout the week in your home.

This will also be a place that you will be able to get information on special events, register for events online and most importantly, send other parents to check out the website which will in turn, hopefully, excite them about our programming and lead them to check it out for themselves.

Annual Church Picnic - Sunday, August 31

Our annual church picnic is this Sunday, August 31 beginning at 2:00 pm at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp. Here's the picnic schedule:

2:00-3:30 pm - Swimming

(Note: There is no lifeguard on duty, so children must be supervised by an adult.)

3:45-4:45 pm - Co-ed Softball game

5:00 pm - Dinner

(The church will supply fried chicken. Each family is asked to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share. Also, bring drinks for your family.)
6:15 pm - Cornhole tournament, followed by watermelon and desserts

Basement Update & Work Day

The HVAC work will be completed this week. The next step is painting the ceiling in the main area of the basement.

Please note: the basement will be closed to any and all activities August 4-8 for ceiling painting.

Once the ceiling painting is complete, we can begin painting the walls. There will be a churchwide painting work day on Saturday, August 23 (and possibly another on August 30). Please add these dates to your calendar. Don't forget to bring rollers, brushes, paint pans, etc!

Jay Henry at ACC - July 6

Jay Henry, of Mid-India Christian Mission, will be at ACC this Sunday, July 6. Jay is one of two foreign missionaries that ACC supports. You don't want to miss this rare opportunity to meet Jay face-to-face! He will be preaching in both services. He'll also be speaking to our combined teen/adult classes at 10:00 am.

Basement Renovation Begins

Just in time for the kickoff of KIDZONE Sunday, June 1, the ACC basement renovation got well underway as 15 volunteers dug into the project May 31.

Down came all the old ceiling tiles, the block wall, as well as the old accordian dividers -- all of which were hauled out to a waiting dumpster.

Stay tuned for the next work day as we take the next step toward remaking our children's center -- a project we intend to wrap up by fall for the full kickoff of our new children's program.

Next up, new lights, new ceiling, new paint, new doors and more. Plus, we'll be taking steps to eliminate any future flooding and moisture issues.

New Programming for KIDZONE!

New programming will take place June 1 for KIDZONE. Children ages birth - 2 will be in the nursery. All other ages will be downstairs where the child(ren) will be checked in and taken to the age appropriate class. Safari Park (ages 3-K) will be having worship at 10:10 a.m. and Sunday School 11:00 a.m. STAND! will be having Sunday School at 10:10 a.m. and worship at 11:00 a.m. We will also begin a Child Check-in program on this day. Parents will be required to drop off and pick up their own child. So, please allow extra time to get everyone checked in to the appropriate rooms.

ACC Hires Children's Minister

Earlier this year our church started a search for a children's minister. We are excited to announce that Melanie Presta will be joining our staff as our children's minister this month.

Melanie and her husband, Paul, live in Amelia along with their four children.

In addition to being a wife and mom, Melanie has a wealth of children's ministry experience in volunteer and paid positions at Syria Christian Church in Paoli, IN and Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY.

Melanie was onstage during both services this Sunday, May 4, to share her passion and vision for this ministry. She has some HUGE plans and dreams for the children's ministry at ACC! Be sure to give Melanie and her family a warm welcome!

Connect Coffeehouse is Back!

We had a great turnout last time, and it's sure to be just as great this month! Come on out and get some great Italian Creme Sodas, coffee, cappuccino, mochas, whatever you can think of. Our barista, Brian, will be happy to make it just the way you like it!

Connect Coffeehouse will begin this Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 6pm.

This is a chance for old and young, big and small, to get together and fellowship. Come out to relax and unwind a bit in an atmosphere of comfort.

We will offer a full FREE line-up of regular and decaf coffees as well as hot chocolate, espresso, cappuccino, mochas and Italian creme sodas. Well also have games such as checkers/chess and Guitar Hero as well as Connect Cards that will assist in starting conversation with people you might not know. They might even help you to get to know some people better!

Dont miss this new way to fellowship at ACC starting this Sunday from 6:00 - 9:00pm.

Connect has been cancelled for March 2nd due to an emergency plumbing issue.

Connect Coffeehouse will begin on March 2nd and will feature an evening of relaxation, games, and conversation...in short, a chance to "connect" with each other through a shared life in Christ.

Connect will feature a full service coffee lounge, complete with all the coffee and pop you can drink. Tables will be set-up with games and conversation cards so that you can relax and have a great time with friends. Live music and comedians will be featured on certain evenings as well as a talent night.

Connect runs once a month, the doors open at 6:00 pm, and it is open to the everyone.

2008 Volleyball Signup

Woodland Lakes coed indoor volleyball will begin March 3rd. Sign up in the foyer by February 15th for either Monday night (recreational) or Tuesday night (competitive).

The season lasts seven weeks, with a tournament at the end of April. Each team will consist of 5 to 8 players. We can sign up as many teams as we can fill.

The cost will be roughly $30 per person depending on the number of players. See John Bach with questions.
