Unforgettable Experiences at Sports Camp

Here are just a few of the lyrics from some of the songs surely still playing in the heads of tons of area youngsters (as well as volunteers) who attended the Amelia Church of Christ Beyond the Gold Sports Camp at Batavia Township Park last week.

ACC took a chance on a completely new concept this summer by introducing the community to a totally free Sports Camp instead of the traditional Vacation Bible School. The results were enormous as we were blessed with more than double our usual VBS turnout.

About 200 children signed up for the unique opportunity to both learn a sport and soak up plenty of God-honoring lessons about being a good sport. Each night saw kids having a blast on the field while learning the importance of teamwork, perseverance, respect, sacrifice and strategy.

Sports included soccer, flag football, cheerleading and Sports of All Sorts (ultimate Frisbee, kickball, wiffle ball and more).

Special thanks to our many volunteers, led by ACC Children's Minister Melanie Presta ; our special guests, WKRC Sports Reporter Tara Pachmayer and the UC Bearcat mascot; Cahall Bros. for use of their equipment; and a huge thanks to Batavia Township for use of the park.

We can�t wait to do it all again next year, so stay tuned.

Sports Camp Kicks Off in a Big Way

About 200 children are taking part in the Amelia Church of Christ Beyond the Gold Sports Camp this week at the Batavia Township Park. Things got rolling on Monday for the June 22-26 camp (sorry registration is closed) where kids are learning and playing all types of sports including soccer, cheerleading, flag football, ultimate Frisbee, kickball and more.

In between sports sessions, ACC volunteers are huddling up with small groups of kids all across the park to teach invaluable God-honoring lessons about the value of being a good sport on and off the field.

Others are taking the stage to lead the children with dramas, singing and, of course, plenty of dancing.

Please continue to pray for all the children, our volunteers and the success of this awesome outreach event.

Don't Miss Dave Ramsey's Money Series at ACC

For three straight weeks beginning Sunday, June 7, the Amelia Church of Christ will host the guru of Biblical finance. Dave Ramsey will be delivering the message at ACC via video June 7, 14 and 21.

It is no secret that worries about the economy are dominating the news headlines every day. Ramsey will give us a radically different and thoroughly Biblical approach regarding our money. You don't want to miss it.

Donate Bottled Water, Pour Love Into Area Kids

If you are looking for a way to make an impact in the lives of young people this summer, we've got a refreshing solution for you. Help us provide free water bottles to all the children who will be attending the Amelia Church of Christ Sports Camp June 22-26.

We are asking families to donate 100 bottles of water.� If you are able to donate, please sign a water bottle on the bulletin board.

Sports Camp Volunteer Meeting, Sunday May 31

We are having a meeting immediately following second service Sunday, May 31, for ALL Sports Camp volunteers.� Every aspect of Sports Camp will be explained, so it is very important to make every effort to be there.

Also, remember, Sports Camp registration ends Sunday, May 31, so get your children, neighbors, friends and friends of friends registered right away.

Registration Now Open for Sports Camp

The Amelia Church of Christ is now taking registrations for Beyond the Gold, our free Sports Camp this summer. Sign up now, as registration ends May 31, and the camp will be capped at 500 children. So be sure to lock up your spot for your son or daughter's favorite sport soon.

The camp, open for all students who are going into K-5th grade, will run Monday, June 22- Friday, June 26, 6-9:00 p.m. The sports offered include Soccer, Cheerleading, Flag Football and Sports of All Sorts. Sports Camp will take place at the Batavia Township Park on Clough Pike (not the Helicopter park).

Please join us for lunch on Saturday, May 9 from 11:30am to 3:00pm� at the Holiday Inn Eastgate.� Lunch will consist of lasagna, salad, and breadsticks and will begin promptly at noon.� Following lunch there will be a short devotion and then an opportunity to reveal your creative self.� The cost is $6.00 per person.� Reservations must be received by Sunday, May 3 and may be left in the wood box in the foyer.

Dave Ramsey's Town Hall for Hope at ACC

On April 23 at 8:00pm, Amelia Church of Christ (and thousands of other venues across the country) will be hosting Dave Ramsey's Town Hall for Hope.

Town Hall for Hope is your opportunity to sit down with people in your community for a nationwide town hall meeting led by Dave Ramsey. Thousands of venues across the country will host the event, broadcasting Dave's live presentation. In the opening half hour, Dave will offer straight talk about the economy, recession, foreclosures and more. He'll carefully explain where we've come from, where we are now, and what we should be doing with our money during this time. Then, Dave will spend an hour answering your questions live!

Come early for Easter at ACC

Our Easter worship services will be at our regular times of 9:00 and 11:00 am. However, there will be no 10:00 am Bible classes that day. That will allow more time to visit, easier ebb and flow in the parking lot.

We will offer identical children's ministry programming in both hours. Regardless of which hour you attend, your kids will experience the same awesome worship designed just for them.

Even if your family normally attends at 11:00, would you come at 9:00 on Easter Sunday? Most of our guests will come at 11:00 and we need open seats for them. Will you serve them by giving them your seat so they can experience Jesus?

Spring Picnic and Easter Egg Hunt April 5

On Sunday, April 5, following the second worship service, the Amelia Church of Christ will be having a spring picnic. Everyone is welcome. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and macroni and cheese are on the menu. Immediately following the picnic there will be an Easter egg hunt for children through sixth grade. Connect Coffeehouse returns Sunday, March 1 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Don't miss this time of relaxation and conversation with others from the ACC community. This event is designed to deepen relationships and get to know people you may not know. The best part is that all of the coffee and desserts are absolutely free, and there's absolutely no age limit. Whether you're 6 or 96, there is something for each and every person to enjoy at this fun informal event -- even if you don't drink coffee. Come and play a game or discuss the topic of the night.

Do you love volleyball? Why not sign up to play on one of the ACC volleyball teams.

Our church takes part in the co-ed volleyball league at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp, a few miles from the church. The league runs from March through the end of April on Monday and Tuesday nights. Game times are 6:30 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30. Monday night is recreation night and Tuesday night is competitive night.

Please don't hesitate to invite your friends and family who don't attend our church.

The cost is around $30 per person, depending on how many end up on each team. Sign up on the bulletin board in the church foyer by Feb. 15. Payment is due by March 1.

This Sunday, March 8, is the last day to submit your questions

There have been times when it seemed like the church was very good at answering questions that nobody is asking. ACC is not that kind of church. We want people to encounter God in a powerful and understandable way in their lives.

That's why we're offering a four-week teaching series where you set the agenda. Beginning on March 15, our senior minister, Mike Edmisten, will answer questions that you have asked. All questions will be kept anonymous.

You can submit questions online or by filling out a questionnaire at church. Don't miss this series! After all, you asked for it! Submit your question to Mike, now.

CIY SuperStart for 4th-6th Graders

Mark your calendars, 4th-6th graders!! April 24-25 we will be going to CIY SuperStart at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. This is a Friday and Saturday. Registration cost is $33 per child. Parents, if you are interested in being a chaperone, the cost is $20. There will be an additional cost for lunch on Saturday and our play event Saturday afternoon. Reserve Spot at Hearts Dinner Dance Feb. 13

The annual Hearts Dinner Dance will be held at Receptions at Eastgate on Friday evening, Feb. 13.� Doors will open at 6:00 pm, and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. Dinner includes a garden salad, grilled chicken with tomato-basil salsa, sliced roast beef au jus, southern green beans, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls. Choice of drinks will be iced tea, lemonade, and coffee.

Cost will be $20.00 per person. There will be envelopes for reservations and payment, and a box to deposit them in the church foyer beginning Jan. 11.

New Ministry for Girls Starts Soon

Beginning in February, KidZone will be starting a new Girl's Ministry called GLOW (Girls Living Out the Word).� This is for all girls grades 3-8.� We will meet monthly at Children's Minister Melanie Presta's house and then also every month have a fun activity that we will do as a group.� Be thinking of friends that you would like to invite.� We are looking for mentors for this program.� If you are interested, please register or contact Miss Melanie ASAP.
