Tonight, American Idol 2024 comes to an end. Since February, we have watched the contestants fight for their place in the competition. We have seen a lot of great singers go home, some of them far too early. Now, by the end of this three-hour broadcast, a new person takes the crown as the American Idol winner. Last year, Ian Tongi became the American Idol.

This year, either Abi Carter, Will Moseley, or Jack Blocker becomes the 22nd person to win American Idol. Hopefully, tonight’s finale brings plenty of memorable moments, surprising performances, and exciting battles. The episode is jam-packed with performances and special guests. During the semi-finals, host Ryan Seacrest announced that Cody Johnson, Bishop Briggs, James Bay, Hootie and the Blowfish, Nick Fradiani, Cece Winans, Seal, Wynonna Judd, New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, and Jon Bon Jovi would all make appearances. We can’t even begin to predict how they will perform and with which Idol finalists. That makes tonight even more exciting.

We also know the final three perform three times tonight, plus duets and group performances. Therefore, we’ll really have a chance to see how Abi, Will, and Jack perform before making one the winner. Katy Perry also plans to make her exit from the show tonight. Therefore, we expect some sort of tribute to her time on American Idol. It’s going to be a fun night, so let’s get into the recap.

Round 1

Round 1 starts with Jon Bon Jovi mentoring the final three. Will Moseley allows his father to meet Bon Jovi (via video chat), because he’s a big fan. Will wants to sing his father’s favorite song, “It’s My Life” by Jon Bon Jovi.

Vote for Abi by texting 8 to 21523 or voting on the American Idol app or AmericanIdol.com/Vote.

The crowd goes wild for Abi. They chant her name.

Luke says the room speaks for them and that was amazing. Katy tells them to vote. Billie Eilish sends Abi a message telling her that she’s rooting for her and loves her. She says she heard her rendition of “What Was I Made For?”

Round 2

This round is hometown dedications. Once again kicking off with Will. We see a package of his hometown visit to Hazlehurst. A lot of people know his original song, “Gone for Good.”

Will Moseley sings “My Town” by Montgomery Gentry.

Lionel says he loved his performance. Katy says American Idol is keeping the American dream alive. Luke says he started the song really smooth. He says he has all the tools to be anything he wants. He calls him a wonderful talent.

Dallas’s Jack Blocker gets a message from Mark Cuban that invites him to sing at a Dallas Mavericks game.

Jack Blocker sings “All My Ex’s Live in Texas” by George Strait.

Vote for Jack by texting 20 to 21523 or voting on the American Idol app or AmericanIdol.com/Vote.

Luke says Jack put his stamp on the song, and Lionel says he’s on to something called career.

Abi returns to Indio for her hometown visit.

Abi Carter sings “Somewhere” from West Side Story.

Vote for Abi by texting 8 to 21523 or voting on the American Idol app or AmericanIdol.com/Vote.

The crowd once again goes wild for Abi. Luke says Abi gave a showstopping moment. It doesn’t get any better than that. Katy says it was magic and if Abi wins American Idol, the bar will be so high.

An elimination coming up after the break.

Fantasia returns to the show, 20 years after winning the show. Seacrest congrats her on all her success. She tells the contestants to keep God first and that he has a plan for them. She talks about the show opening doors for her and teases that she has new music coming. We then see a segment about auditioning for the show.

Jason Mraz and Julia Gagnon sing “I Feel Like Dancing.”

The final three work on their original songs. The final two will perform their songs.

Seal and Janina Elise perform “Crazy.”

Round 3

We get to the first elimination of the night. Will advances to the final round and is still in the running to win American Idol. Abi also joins him in the final two. Jack has been eliminated.

McKenna Faith Brienholt and Kaibrienne sing “Let it Go” with James Bay.

Luke Bryan sings “Love You, Miss You Mean It.” Mia Matthews then comes to sing “Run” by George Strait with him.

Lionel Richie sings “Running with the Night.” The Top 12 American Idol finalists join him on stage at the end.

Nick Fradiani sings “America” and “Sweet Caroline,” by Neil Diamond with the Top 12 guys.

Hootie and the Blowfish sing “Hold My Hand, “Let Her Cry,” and “Only Wanna Be With You” with Will.

Katy sings “What Makes A Woman,” with special lyrics written by Jack added to the song for this performance.

New Kids on the Block sing “Kids,” and “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” with Kayko.

Emmy Russell and Wynonna Judd sing “Coal Miner’s Daughter” by Loretta Lynn and “No One Else on Earth.”

Cece Winans and Roman Collins sing “Goodness of God”

The Top 12 ladies do a melody of Katy Perry’s song as a tribute. They sing “Teenage Dream,” “Dark Horse,” and “California Girls.”

Ryan announces that Will and Abi get a trip for four to the Bahamas.

Will Moseley sings his new single “Good Book Bad”

Lionel says he made it, Katy says that he has sung the best she has heard him sing, and Luke says the ball is in his court. He tells him to take it as far as he can. They wish him the best.

Vote for Will by texting 11 to 21523 or voting on the American Idol app or AmericanIdol.com/Vote.

Abi Carter sings her new single “This isn’t Over.”

The crowd once again chants her name, so the judges stay silent and let that speak for them.

Vote for Abi by texting 8 to 21523 or voting on the American Idol app or AmericanIdol.com/Vote.

And the American Idol 2024 winner is…Abi Carter!

She closes the show with an emotional cover of “What Was I Made For?” Katy also gets emotional as her time on Idol comes to an end. We see the Top 12 and Abi’s family come on stage to congratulate and shower her with love.

Abi was such an amazing performer that I am glad she won.

Abi Carter stole our hearts from her first note. She had the soul and talent that made American Idol contestants so memorable. She was able to convey emotions while delivering such intense but controlled vocals. Abi became an early favorite. Then she managed to continue to have these really amazing moments each week.

With such a talented bunch of contestants, Abi didn’t have an easy time making herself standout among them. But she did it. Now she’s one of the final three contestants. I can’t wait to see what she sings tonight. For now, let’s look back at some of her performances that landed her in the American Idol 2024 finale.

“What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish

I stand by my statement that American Idol 2024 had many amazing auditions. Even with the season kicking off with high standards, Abi had one of the best auditions of the season. “What Was I Made For?” already had such a big year with its Oscar and Grammy wins, so it was definitely a risk singing it. Eilish is such an incredible singer that this Barbie song is very hard to sing for the average artist. Abi at least matches Eilish power and captures her ability to mesmerize you with this song. It makes you immediately want to cry hearing it sung by Abi. She creates the emotions of it so well.

“Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence

Abi had been giving good performances all season. However, her rendition of “Bring Me To Life” pushed her toward the front as one of the top American Idol 2024 performers. She was going to give it her all and deliver astonishing vocals. Abi became the contestant I looked forward to seeing what she would sing every week. “Bring Me To Life” showed her cover potential. We started to see that Abi could take risks and they would pay off.

“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John

“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” is another favorite of mine. Therefore, I may be biased and just love when anyone can sing this song so well. Despite my bias, I think this is such a beautiful cover. It gives the song the emotion and precision it needs. It’s also one of Abi’s most consistent and hypnotic performances.

“Welcome to The Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance

This is another biased pick because The Black Parade is one of my favorite albums of all time. I was immediately excited when I heard that Abi would sing this song. My excitement was warranted because she had another star-making moment with her version of “Welcome to the Black Parade.” She gives it the drama that it needs. It made me want to see a Broadway version of The Black Parade with Abi as the star.

Honorable Mention: “The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac, “Hello” by Adele, and “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

I had a really hard time narrowing down Abi’s performances to just four. Therefore, I would love to hear your favorite Abi Carter performances.

Join us tonight for the American Idol 2024 grand finale. We’ll see who in the Top 3 takes home the Idol crown. Make sure to add us on Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) for more American Idol spoilers, recaps, exclusives, news, and much more.

It’s funny to think about how Jack Blocker came close to not making it on American Idol (or at least that’s how the show portrayed it). Now he’s going to finish in the Top 3. Jack has given solid performances every week during American Idol 2024. His intense facial expressions may have made Katy Perry wonder if it was too much, but now it’s become a signature part of his performance style.

Jack doesn’t neatly fit into any music genre, but that’s what makes him a fascinating artist. Let’s explore some of his best performances from American Idol 22.

“Always On My Mind” by Willie Nelson

This may be the best Jack has sounded all season. “Always on My Mind” really works for him because it allows him to showcase different elements of his voice. We hear the softer tones, then some vocal growls, and he even pushes his voice to a range we don’t normally hear from him. Ballads also seem to be the sweet spot for Jack. They fit his Idol persona and match his vocal tones.

“Rainbow” by Kacey Musgraves

I’ll admit I just might really like this song, and that might be why I loved Jack’s rendition of it so much. Even if I didn’t like the song prior to hearing his version, his version would make me a fan of it. He sings it with ease. It helps enhance and highlight the beauty of this simple but powerful song.

“Space Oddity” by David Bowie

Jack takes on such a powerhouse of a song with “Space Oddity.” It was really a sink-or-swim moment for him because if he failed to deliver this song, many fans would not be happy. Thankfully, Jack doesn’t just deliver the song in his way, but it becomes one of his best performances on American Idol 2024. It made me wish Jack took on more unexpected songs like this one throughout the show because he really can give classics a unique style but still honor them. I appreciate that we got to hear him take on a Bowie classic.

“Hello” by Lionel Richie

This “Hello” duet is such a highlight moment for Jack and Emmy Russell. They have such different singing styles but it worked well on this duet. They also sound so good on this song. Emmy and Jack should really consider touring together, just for this duet. It was that phenomenal. It was probably the best duet we heard on American Idol 2024.

Honorable Mention: “One & Only” by Adele, “Believe” by Cher, and “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright” by Bob Dylan.

What has been your favorite Jack Blocker performance from American Idol?

American Idol comes to an end tonight. However, before the show bows out for the season, we want to look at the top performances from the American Idol 2024 Top 3. Let’s start with Will [...]

American Idol comes to an end tonight. However, before the show bows out for the season, we want to look at the top performances from the American Idol 2024 Top 3. Let’s start with Will Moseley. The former football star captures your attention the moment you hear his voice.

It’s rich and feels far beyond his years. Then when he sings his first notes, you know this guy will leave an impression, especially in the country music world. Will isn’t just a great country singer, but his tone and style make rock music also a perfect fit for his voice.

I picked four performances from Will that show his versatility and nearly spotless vocals.

“Gone For Good” by Will Moseley

Will auditions with “Gone for Good” and it’s such a great original song. It’s heartfelt, showcases his voice, and is very marketable. He keeps his performance simple by just allowing his guitar and voice to shine. It shows his true artistry, not only as a brilliant vocalist but as a songwriter.

“Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde” by Travis Tritt

This is where Will’s talent for rock music comes across. “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde” has this edge that makes whoever sings it sound very cool. It’s bluesy, soulful, and rock. Will has a lot of great musical moments throughout American Idol 2024, but this may be one of his biggest. It’s another performance that showcases his extraordinary vocal tones and how he already feels so polished as an artist, even at such a young age.

“Rolling in the Deep” by Adele

A cool thing about this crop of American Idol contestants is that most of them were able to add their stamp to any song. Will constantly made every cover his song. He is comfortable in the country lane. Therefore, I was really curious how he would tackle a song so far from his style and genre. I was very pleasantly surprised by how he made this Adele classic a Will Moseley hit. This rock version is the type of cover that makes American Idol such a special show, even over 20 seasons later.

“Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay” by Otis Redding

Will’s voice and style make him seem like an artist stripped from another generation and put into the American Idol world. I love the song “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay,” so I am partial to the original. However, there is no denying that Will’s version is so fantastic. It seems effortless, cool, and memorable.

Honorable Mention: “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” from Toy Story 4, “Gimme Three Steps” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf

Will has done so many great American Idol performances, so let us know your favorites.

Join us tonight for the American Idol 2024 grand finale.

In a few hours, we’ll see if Abi Carter, Jack Blocker, or Will Moseley manages to win American Idol 2024. It’s going to be a tough battle between them. Abi was an early favorite and even won the Platinum Ticket. However, Will and Jack both have had consistently great performances all season. They earned their spots right alongside her. It’s one of the most unpredictable final three in Idol history. Any of them could still win it.

Usually, prior to the finale, I can guess who will win. I knew Iam Tongi would take it home the minute he made it into the Top 12. Early seasons, we’re a bit more unpredictable with winners but there has always been one or two contestants to pull ahead. Abi, Jack, and Will all have dedicated fans. Therefore, a few votes could really determine who wins American Idol 2024.

If I had to make my own predictions, I think Abi and Jack will end up the final two, and Abi will get the final victory. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if any of these three win it. Additionally, I also wouldn’t be surprised by any combination of the final three in the final two. The final song choices and performances may really determine the winner of American Idol 22.

It’s crazy to say this, a few hours before the finale, but it may be too early to predict a winner. However, I would like to know who you think will win American Idol 2024 and who should win it. Vote in our poll below.

American Idol 2024 ends next week. We already know it will be back for a 23rd season overall and 8th on ABC. We’re excited for another season, though sad to see Katy Perry leave. Before we can even start discussing who could replace the pop star, we need to see who earns the American Idol 22 crown. Last week, we saw Abi Carter, Triston Harper, Jack Blocker, Emmy Russell, and Will Moseley become the Top 5 contestants.

By the end of tonight’s two-hour broadcast, two more are leaving. Heading into finale night, this takes us to the final three. To be perfectly honest, if you asked me who would be in the finale at the start of American Idol 2024, I am not sure I would name any of the Top 5. This isn’t to say they aren’t talented. I just think this season has been very unpredictable. Therefore, I have no clue who will win American Idol 2024.

The Top 3 will be a shock either way. Tonight’s episode involves the final five singing two songs each from the Disney songbook. A Few hours ago, American Idol put tonight’s tracklist on their Instagram page. We now know we’ll be hearing “Part of Your World,” “The Climb,” “Almost There,” “Born To Be Wild,” and a lot of other great Disney songs.

The interesting thing about this Top 5 Disney Night is that many selected songs aren’t typically heard on Idol. It’ll be nice to hear different songs performed with this batch of semi-finalists. Kane Brown will mentor the contestants tonight. Jenifer Lewis also performs.

Let’s dive into this penultimate episode and see who pulls ahead.

The episode starts with an intro with Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Ryan Seacrest enjoying Disneyland. There is also a version of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story sung by Luke, Lionel, and Katy.

Emmy Russell talks about her nerves with Kane. She sings “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie.

We’re down to the final seven American Idol 2024 contestants. Then by the end of the two-hour broadcast, we’re down to the final five. This marks the beginning of the end. For the next three weeks, only one episode airs a night. Once the final five are revealed, the contestants have a week off before they compete for their spots in the final three. Then the following week is the American Idol 2024 finale.

Stress and anticipation are at an all-time high for the contestants. Therefore, it is nice that they get a bit of a break by performing one night a week instead of two. Tonight’s episode has the potential to be one of the best of the season. It’s Adele week. The final seven contestants get to pick from the singer’s songbook and perform her songs in their styles. The English singer has so many great songs, so I look forward to hearing what Jack Blocker, Emmy Russell, Julia Gagnon, Abi Carter, Will Moseley, Triston Harper, and Mckenna Faith Breinholt bring to Adele’s songbook.

They’re also performing twice tonight. They perform Adele’s songs and dance songs. This means they have the potential to show off their softer, ballad sides and some fun, dance performances. In addition to the contestants performing two songs each, Ciara will be along for the ride to help mentor the final seven.

Meghan Trainor, who mentored the contestants a few episodes ago, returns tonight to perform. These two hours will be a breeze with so much to pack into them. Let’s dive into the recap.

The Top Seven Perform

The show kicks off with the Top 7 performing dance songs.

Round 1: Dance songs.

American Idol 2024 is now down to only eight contestants. That’s a big drop from the hundreds who started Season 22. This Monday American Idol episode ends in one more elimination, taking us to the Top 7. America votes for six contestants to continue and judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry save one of the bottom two. This American Idol 2024 episode focuses a lot on the judges’ decisions and opinions.

Not only do they save one contestant from elimination, but they help determine the fate of the final eight Idol hopefuls. It’s the Judge’s Song Contest night. This means the judges submit three song choices.

Then the contestants select one of the submitted songs to sing. The judges earn points and bragging rights if the contestants pick their songs (which are anonymously submitted to the contestants). The episode also includes a tribute to Mandisa, who recently passed away.

On Sunday’s episode, host Ryan Seacrest mentioned that Mandisa’s tribute involved those close to the late singer returning to the Idol stage for it. She appeared on the fifth season of American Idol, so we may see former contestants from that season and contestants from other seasons.

American Idol Top 8 Perform

American Idol 2024 has entered the Top 10 portion of the season. We only have a few weeks left before the finale. By the end of tomorrow night’s episode, only seven contestants will remain. These final ten have an intense battle ahead for the American Idol 2024 crown.

Unfortunately, last week’s episodes ended with some surprising eliminations. Nya, Jordan Anthony, Roman Collins, and Jayna Elise were sent out of the competition. The judges loved Nya, Roman, and Jayna’s performances so these eliminations saddened them (and many of us).

However, the judges saved all four and put them into the Top 14, so their eliminations weren’t totally shocking, just completely heartbreaking. Tonight the Top 10 must sing songs from their birth years to try to make it into the Top 8. This means we’ll hear lots of mid to late-90s songs and early-2000s hits.

All of those eras have plenty of great songs across genres. The contestants shouldn’t struggle to find a song in which they can add a unique spin and style. To help them tackle these songs, icon, and superstar Shania Twain joins the episode. She acts as a mentor to the Top 10.

American Idol winners Scotty McCreery and Just Sam return to perform. It’s a jam-packed episode with ten performances, two eliminations, plenty of performances, and some great advice from Shania Twain. Let’s get into the AmericanvIdol 2024 Top 10 Recap.

American Idol 2024 enters the final few weeks with more live performances. Tonight, we see the Top 12 perform. Then by the end of the two-hour broadcast, two more contestants are sent home. Then, in the next few weeks, more cutthroat cuts will take us into the single digits of contestants. American Idol 22 has been on speed mode as the finale quickly approaches. You can’t miss a single episode or your favorite may be cut. The votes matter more than ever at this stage of the competition.

Yesterday, America voted 12 finalists to the next round. This meant that two contestants were eliminated. Jordan Anthony and Nya were those unfortunate contestants to leave the competition. Both Jordan and Nya gave great performances last night. The talent is just so high this season that many great performers will be eliminated before we reach the finale. It’s not a complete surprise that Jordan and Nya were eliminated because they were at the bottom of the Top 14.

Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie saved them from leaving a few episodes ago. However, this does not necessarily mean that the other two who the judges saved will go tonight. It comes down to whether they can make this performance their best yet. We shall see how the Top 12 leave a lasting impression to continue to advance in American Idol.
