The above is a quick, but awesome, speech given Tony Robbins in 2006. In the vid, Tony discusses the “invisible forces” that motivate everyone’s actions—and high-fives Al Gore in the front row.

The next time you are giving a presentation and are looking to discuss the truest motivating factors in your company, try giving this (and other TED videos) a look. I think you’ll be glad you did.

History of the Internet from PICOL on Vimeo.
"History of the Internet briefly highlights the technical inventions throughout the Internet’s history, which have made “the series of tubes and wires” what it is today. The clean illustrations and voice-over illicit the tone of an retro science film colliding with a sterilized future. It is an interesting project and you can find more at blog.picol.org.“

Here’s another great post from Gary Vaynerchuck. Regardless of industry, building your business or organization takes two things above all:

1.) Patience

2.) Hard Work.

As many of you know, I’m a huge fan of Gary Vaynerchuck and all that he represents. After one of his sites was recently hacked by an adult content vendor, he set into motion an interesting chain of events that I think speaks volumes about the online social network movement as a whole.

One of my favorite knowledge-sharing sites around is slideshare. Slideshare’s Rashmi Sinha, Cofounder & CEO, was recently interviewed about slideshare’s traffic, origins and community. I think it’s a fascinating look at the global community as a whole, especially when you check out her own personal favorite. Turns out it is a deck called “Shift Happens.”

Oh, and if you want to check out my slideshare presentations to-date, you can find them here.

The 10/20/30 Rule of PowerPoint

A constant battle I’m always waging is over the use of PowerPoint presentations. Not about if they should be used, but over how they are abused used. A classic post that quickly became a Golden Rule in corporate design and presentation-building is one that Guy Kawasaki nailed on the head. The only problem: so many of the heads that were nailed also turned deaf ears. That’s why today so many of us still fight the good fight, day in and day out, on how not to make your audience’s eyes bleed.
Guy says that all Powerpoint presentations should subscribe to these tried and true rules:

“A PowerPoint presentation should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points.”

I can’t agree enough. Via.
