Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao more commonly known as N.T. Rama Rao, NTR, or Anna garu.
He was a film actor, director, producer and a Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. His repertoire of films included
mythological, social and folk themes. He was awarded the Padma Sree by the government of India in the 1960s, recognizing his contribution to the Telugu cinema.
After his film career, N.T. Ramarao became a political activist and party leader.He was born in Nimmakuru, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Andhra-Christian College of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.He later received an honorary doctorate from Andhra University.Many believe Ramarao highlighted Andhra Pradesh's distinct cultural identity, distinguishing it from Madras state, with which it was so often associated.

Politics
NTR formed the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982. Promoting a new movie, he was asked a question by a person in the audience who asked "ayya, memu mimmalni devudu laga adarincamu, kani meeru maku emi chesaru?"; literaly translated from telugu meant "Sir, we have treated you like a God but what have you done for us ?". He was so moved by this that he formed TDP and lead to victory in the immediate election, formed a government and ruled the state of AP for a full term. He went into the elections with the slogan 'Atma Gauravam' which meant self-pride.Like
his movies, the formation of the party and storming into the assembly was very dramatic. TDP came into power within 9 months of its formation. Initially ridiculed by the Congress that state politics is not like movie acting among others, TDP was considered a no match for the congress, with the local representatives unheard of, the complete burden rested on the shoulders of NTR, and true to his charisma he won the elections with a landslide majority. Among other reasons why he won the elections was no real alternative to the Congress, lack of development, unemployment etc. He was very well supported by Ramoji Rao who gave wide publicity through the Telugu daily Eenadu. NTR himself contested elections from the constituency of Gudivada in Krishna District.During the first term as
Chief Minister of AP, he got into the costumes of Swami Vivekananda and tried to govern the entire state solely on idealogical terms which later proved to be disastrous as he lost the elections after serving a full term of 5 years. Among the most significant change he made was to abolish the Legislative Council of the State of Andhra Pradesh citing the reason that it was a non-performing body which just a burden on the state exchequer. Among the lesser known were the educational reforms he brought about in the state, where he overhauled the entire state education syllabus for
schools. NTR lost the subsequent elections held in 1989 mainly to do with his political inexperience and a strong central government lead by Rajiv Gandhi among others. But during the same period he gained valuable experience and had people like N Chandrababu Naidu, Daggubati Venkateswara Rao (both sons-in-Law) in his party.Even though he lost
the 1989 elections, he shot to fame at the national level and was capable of uniting many regional parties. He formed a Third Front with parties like Janata Dal as an alternative to Congress. He offered no competition against PV Narasimha Rao when he was chosen to be the Prime Minister of India, citing that he was proud that an Andhrudu (Andhrite) would hold the highest office in the country.NTR stormed back to power in 1994 when he promised he would offer rice at Rs. 2/kg and to make AP an "Alcohol Free" state. True to his word he kept his promises only to burden
the state exchequer. He also faced serious problems within his party because of the interference from his second wife Lakshmi Parvathi in party and government affairs. Foreseeing the imminent threat of the de-stabilising wave within the party commaradre, N Chandrababu Naidu lead a sudden revolt and split TDP into two, where the political careers of more than 180 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) was at stake. Naidu survived NTR's onslaught when NTR approached the public for an opinion and went on to break the record held by NTR as the longest serving
Chief Minister of AP making a mark for himself. The break-up of the party and the drama that took place on the Tank-Bund (road connecting Hyderabad and Secunderabad on the banks of Hussain Sagar) were probably the last significant events in NTR's life.The loss of power and the subsequent events can be summmed up as the start of anti-climax in NTRs life with a majority of people believing that Lakshmi Parvathi was responsible for what would otherwise have been the greatest life lived by an Andhrite since Sri Krishna Devarayalu (a 15th Century King). Officially he died of a severe heart stroke but there are conspiracy theorists who believe he had high traces of steroids in his blood which were unacceptable for a man of that age. The entire state was shocked to hear the news of his death and paid homage in a way only a king receives. His funeral was a state-affair which set the then

World-record.
It is believed that he could have become the Prime Minister of India, as the third-front won the national electionsand was strugling to find a leader who was acceptable to all the parties. Chandrababu Naidu went on record that
he would have supported NTR as the the Prime Minister as the third-front was his brain child, but it was six months too late.NTR was survived by seven sons and four daughters, and his second wife Lakshmi Parvathi.

What is CMM ?

CMM stands for Capability Maturity Model.
Focuses on elements of essential practices and processes from various bodies of knowledge.
Describes common sense, efficient, proven ways of doing business (which you should already be doing) - not a radical new approach.
CMM is a method to evaluate and measure the maturity of the software development process of an organizations.
CMM measures the maturity of the software development process on a scale of 1 to 5.
CMM v1.0 was developed by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.
CMM was originally developed for Software Development and Maintenance but later it was developed for :

Supplier Sourcing
Integrated Product and Process Development
People CMM
Software Acquisition
Others

CMM Examples:

What is Maturity ?

Definitions vary but mature processes are generally thought to be:

Well defined
Repeatable
Measured
Analyzed
Improved

And most importantly ... effective. Poor but mature processes are just as bad as no maturity at all!

The CMM helps to solve the maturity problem by defining a set of practices and providing a general framework for improving them. The CMM focus is on identifying key process areas and the exemplary practices that may comprise a disciplined software process.

Immature vs Mature Organization:

What is CMMI ?

CMM Integration project was formed to sort out the problem of using multiple CMMs. CMMI Product Team's mission was to combine three Source Models into a single improvement framework to be used by the organizations pursuing enterprise-wide process improvement. These three Source Models are :

Capability Maturity Model for Software (SW-CMM) - v2.0 Draft C
Electronic Industries Alliance Interim Standard (EIA/IS) - 731 Systems Engineering
Integrated Product Development Capability Maturity Model (IPD-CMM) v0.98

CMM Integration:

- builds an initial set of integrated models.
- improves best practices from source models based on lessons learned.
- establishes a framework to enable integration of future models.

Difference between CMM and CMMI:

CMM is a reference model of matured practices in a specified discipline like Systems Engineering CMM, Software CMM, People CMM, Software Acquisition CMM etc. But they were difficult to integrate as and when needed.

CMMI is the successor of the CMM and evolved as a more matured set of guidelines and was built combining the best components of individual disciplines of CMM(Software CMM, People CMM etc). It can be applied to product manufacturing, People management, Software development etc.

CMM describes about the software engineering alone where as CMM Integrated describes both software and system engineering. CMMI also incorporates the Integrated Procees and Product Development and the supplier sourcing.

CMMI and Business Objectives

Following are obvious objectives of CMMI:

Produce quality products or services: The process-improvement concept in CMMI models evolved out of the Deming, Juran, and Crosby quality paradigm: Quality products are a result of quality processes. CMMI has a strong focus on quality-related activities including requirements management, quality assurance, verification, and validation.
Create value for the stockholders: Mature organizations are more likely to make better cost and revenue estimates than those with less maturity, and then perform in line with those estimates. CMMI supports quality products, predictable schedules, and effective measurement to support management in making accurate and defensible forecasts. This process maturity can guard against project performance problems that could weaken the value of the organization in the eyes of investors.
Enhance customer satisfaction: Meeting cost and schedule targets with high-quality products that are validated against customer needs is a good formula for customer satisfaction. CMMI addresses all of these ingredients through its emphasis on planning, monitoring, and measuring, and the improved predictability that comes with more capable processes.
Increase market share: Market share is a result of many factors, including quality products and services, name identification, pricing, and image. Customers like to deal with suppliers who have a reputation for meeting their commitments.
Gain an industry-wide recognition for excellence: The best way to develop a reputation for excellence is to consistently perform well on projects, delivering quality products and services within cost and schedule parameters. Having processes that conform to CMMI requirements can enhance that reputation.

How to Print a Folder (Directory) Listing

The following instructions explain how to print a folder listing directly to your printer or to copy the listing to a text file that you can open (and format) in a text editor or word processor before printing.

Printing a List of Files Directly to Your Printer

1. Exit to a command prompt by clicking Start on the Taskbar and choosing Programs, then Command Prompt.
2. To print a list of files in a folder on your computer's hard disk, type the following command at the prompt (e.g., C:\>), replacing c:\folderpath with the full path to the folder you want to print ( e.g., c:\MyFiles). (See also NOTE, below.)

dir c:\folderpath > prn:

3. Tap the ENTER key.
4. Most likely the list won't print until you initiate a form feed on your printer. On an HP laser printer, press the On Line button and then the Form Feed button. When the list has finished printing, press the On Line button again.
5. When finished printing your folder list(s), at the command prompt type Exit and tap the ENTER key to return to Windows NT/95.

Note: If you want to print a listing of the files on a floppy disk (such as A:), in Step 2 (above) type the following (replacing a: with a different drive designation, if appropriate) :

dir a:\ > prn:

Copying a Folder List to a File Before Printing

1. Exit to a command prompt by clicking Start on the Taskbar and choosing Programs, then Command Prompt.
2. To copy a list of files in a folder on your computer's hard disk and place the resulting file in the root directory on your C drive, type the following command at the prompt ( e.g., C:\>), replacing c:\folderpath with the full path to the folder you want to print (e.g., c:\MyFiles). (See also WARNING and NOTES, below).

dir c:\folderpath > c:\folderlist. txt

3. Tap the ENTER key.
4. When finished copying your folder list(s), at the command prompt type Exit and tap the ENTER key to return to Windows NT/95.
5. Open, edit/format, and print as follows:

o You can open a file containing a folder list in the text editor Notepad by simply opening (double-clicking) My Computer and double-clicking the name of the text file you want to open ( e.g., folderlist.txt) . Edit and print as desired.
o If you want to edit or format a folder listing in ways that aren't possible in a simple text editor, you can open the file in your word processor. Be sure to choose a "text" file type ( Text Files in Word 97) and to "look in" the correct folder [such as (C:)]. Edit, format, and print as desired.

WARNING: If you already have a file saved as c:\folderlist. txt, the file created in this procedure will overwrite the previously saved file. If you don't want to overwrite the existing file, choose a name you haven't already used.

Notes:

* If you want to copy the list of the files on a floppy disk (such as A:), type the following at the command prompt (replacing a: with a different drive designation if appropriate) :

dir a:\ > c:\folderlist. txt

* If you want to place the file list somewhere other than the root directory of your C drive, type the full path name for the resulting file (e.g., c:\MyFiles\folderli st.txt).

Income Tax - Knowhow of Income Tax

QUICK LOOK

* Income tax is levied on the 'total income' of the assesses.
* Income of the 'previous year' is taxed in the 'assessment year.'
* Income is classified into and completed under five categories called 'heads of income'.
* The basic scheme of income tax is the principle 'pay as you earn.'
* One must pay his taxes in advance and by the due dates, in the prescribed percentages.
* Deferment in the payment of advance tax would result in the payment of interest.

The income tax basic scheme is explained in brief as:

* Income tax is levied on the 'total income' of the assessable entity which is computed under the provisions of the Act.
* The income which are pertaining to the 'previous year' is taxed, but in the 'assessment year'.
* Income tax is charged at the rates being fixed by the for the year by the annual Finance Act. But the liability to pay the tax is based on the principle 'pay as you earn'.

Pay as you Earn

A person is not allowed to wait until 31 March to pay his/her taxes. The Income Tax Act has the provision of 'pay as you earn.' This do not pinch a tax payer at the end of the year making a lump sum payment. Such payments are done during the previous year in the form of 'TDS', 'TCS' and 'advance tax.'

TDS (Tax deducted at source)

This tax is deducted at the source of income, by the employer or the payer and paid to the government. It includes salary, interest, commission and contract fees, rent, professional fees, etc. This type of deduction is popularly known as TDS.

Such tax is subject to certain limits and certain conditions. For example if the earning up on fixed deposit is Rs. 5,000 in a bank, TDS at 10% and education cess at 2% i.e. a total of 10.2% will be deducted at the time of credit or at the time of payment, whichever is earlier.

In case of senior citizen, if he/she estimates that the tax on the income is nil, Form No.15H duly filled and signed is to be submitted in duplicate to the bank. So, no TDS will be deducted. If the total income is less than the threshold limit, Form No.15G is to be submitted to the payer to prevent TDS from such interest.

TCS (Tax collected at source)

Unlike tax deducted at source, TCS is collected by a seller of certain specified goods at the specified rates on the purchase of the goods and it is remitted to the treasury on behalf of the buyer. In the same way, a person granting a lease or license in a parking lot, toll-plaza, etc. collects the taxes at the specified rates as tax paid on behalf of the lessee.

Advance Tax

Advance Tax is paid by the income earner during the previous year. The computing of the liability of advance tax is done by estimating the 'total income' for the year, calculating the surcharge and taking into consideration the rebate that will be available. The advance tax is required to be paid in three installments.

Schedule of Advance Tax:

1. On or before 15 September Not less than 30% of advance tax.
2. On or before 15 December Not less than 60% of advance tax as reduced by amount paid earlier.
3. On of before 15 March Full advance tax as reduced by the amount or amounts if any, paid in earlier installments.

If the assesses does not pays the advance tax as described above, an interest of 1% is charged per month for 3 months for the deferment of advance tax installment.

If the total amount of advance tax is not paid on or before 15 March, an interest of 1% is charged for one month.

Further, if the total advance tax paid is less than 90% of the advance tax payable, the interest at 1% per month is charged for the shortfall in the advance tax paid for the period commencing from 1 April of the assessment year and ending on the date of payment or assessment, whichever is earlier.
