Eurostar’s ski trains offer direct connections on winter weekends between London and the most popular ski resorts in France. The direct ski train, which cut out the cumbersome transfer between trains and different stations in France, connect London St Pancras and Ashford International in England with Moûtiers, Aime La Plagne and Bourg St Maurice in France. These stations are within less than half an hour’s transfer time to popular French ski resorts such as Meribel, La Tania, Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, La Plagne, Les Arcs, Sainte Foy, Val d'lsère, and Tignes.<br />
<h3 class="dynamic">Eurostar’s Ski Train Schedules </h3>The ski train operates on weekends during the French ski season that generally runs from around Christmas time to mid-April. Two trains – one day time and one overnight – are available most weekends in each direction.<br />
Eurostar ski trains generally depart from London on Friday nights and Saturday mornings and return from France to London on Saturdays. On vacation weekends, schedules can be somewhat altered with trains running on Sundays too.<br />
Traveling time on the ski train from London to Bourg St Maurice train can be as fast as seven hours for the day train. The overnight ski trains can take up to ten hours but allow for an additional full day of skiing.<br />
<h3 class="dynamic">Eurostar’s Ski Train Timetables from London to France</h3>The overnight Eurostar ski trains depart London St Pancras International on Friday evening at around 8:30 pm, stop at Ashford International in Kent 45 minutes later and then continue non-stop to France to arrive at around 5:30 am in Moûtiers, just after 6 am in Aime La Plagne, and at 6:30 am in Bourg St Maurice.<br />
The day Eurostar ski trains depart London St Pancras International on Saturday mornings at 10 am and after a stop at Ashford continue to the French Alps to reach Moûtiers at around 5:30 pm, Aime La Plagne at 6 pm, and Bourg St Maurice at 6:30 pm.<br />
<h3 class="dynamic">Eurostar’s Ski Train Timetables from France to London </h3>Trains from the French Alps to London generally run on Saturdays. The day ski trains depart Bourg St Maurice at around 10 am and Moûtiers just before 11 am to reach Ashford International at around 5:30 pm and London St Pancras just after 6 pm. The night Eurostar ski trains depart from Bourg St Maurice at around 10 pm and Moûtiers just after 11 pm to reach Ashford the next morning at 6:30 am and London just after 7 am.<br />
Note that on the return journeys from the French Alps to England, the Ski Train does not stop at Aime La Plagne.<br />

<span class="date">09/04/09 7:05 PM EDT</span> </h3></div><div class="story_text"> <span id="dateline"> WASHINGTON </span> — The European Union is strongly criticizing a congressional proposal to charge a $10 fee to some visitors to the United States and suggesting it may carry a price for U.S. travelers.<br />
If it passes, the EU says, some U.S. travelers to Europe could face retaliation.<br />
The fee now under consideration in Congress would finance a new U.S. program to promote travel, a burden that the EU believes Americans should bear.<br />
"Only in `Alice in Wonderland' could a penalty be seen as promoting the activity on which it is imposed," the European Commission's Ambassador to Washington, John Bruton, said in a statement Friday.<br />
One of the bill's sponsors, Democratic Rep. William Delahunt, said the EU was getting too worked up over what he called "a nominal fee."<br />
But Europeans see the issue as yet another potential hassle that the United States is preparing to burden Europe's citizens with. Visitors from most European countries have long enjoyed the privilege of visa-free travel to the United States.<br />
Early, this year, however, the United States began requiring people traveling to the United States under the visa waiver program to register online at least 72 hours before travel and renew their registration every two years. If the new proposal is passed by Congress and signed into law by the president, it would require all visitors to pay the fee when they register.<br />
The money would pay for a travel promotion campaign run as a public-private partnership. Among its aims would be educating foreign visitors on U.S. entry procedures, including the online registration for visa free travel.<br />
Sponsors have been promoting the law as cost-free to the U.S. taxpayer. The EU thinks it should not be.<br />
Bruton said the EU will have to reconsider whether the U.S. registration system with the new fee would amount to a visa. The EU might then have to consider visas for U.S. travelers.<br />
