I use my debian-5.0-x86 VPS hosting in Dallas, USA to download my torrent files, then if the download complete, i will download that file with internet download manager (yeah, i got multiple speed :D). To do that, we must have torrent client that called BitTorrent. BitTorrent is the name of a peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution protocol, and of a free software implementation of that protocol.

The BitTorrent client is a computer program developed by BitTorrent, Inc. used to download and upload files via the BitTorrent protocol. You can download python based command line BitTorrent client download for Linux/BSD/Mac OS X/UNIX link oses. This is quite useful, if you would like to download file remotely over SSH session. bittorrent.com offers bittorrent client in .deb (Debian Linux) or rpm (RedHat/Fedora Core/CentOS Linux) file formats.

First step, you must check your python version. Type following command to find out python version :

If you own a printer I am pretty much confident that you must have encountered the dreaded issue of a stuck printer job, getting rid of a stuck print job is not as straight forward as it sounds and the worst part is that subsequent print or fax jobs sent to the queue will not print until the first job (which is unfortunately stuck) is cleared from the spooler queue this is also known as printer spooler restoration.

There could be various reasons for a print request to get stuck in the printer spooler queue which cannot be deleted, most of the time this is caused by a corrupt or incomplete print job sent by applications or any other reason which interrupts the print job in middle of the printing. I have been using a hand-coded dos-batch script to tackle this issue which simply stops the spooler service, deletes the queue content and re-starts the spooler service, now I have found a better alternative as free portable utility for Windows - Stalled Printer Repair.

Tune Your MySQL Server To Achieve Faster Website Loading

All popular blogging platforms and Content Management Systems (CMS) like Drupal, Wordpress and Joomla make extensive use of database back-end and having a fine-tuned database server is crucial to achieve optimal performance on these. As the saying goes "one size does not fit all" the default my.cnf which comes with MySQL server needs fixing as per your scripts requirements and hardware configuration, thankfully we do have free tools to get this done effectively and easily.

Today, I will be showing two scripts and a simple tip which will help us optimize our databases to achieve maximum performance - before proceeding do keep in mind that this is quite advanced as it requires editing database configuration files and working via shell access to linux root on your server.

First of all, I will tell you a simple procedure which you should perform regularly on your databases to achieve optimal performance, MySQL supports a OPTIMIZE TABLE command which is used to de-fragment mysql tables and is specially useful for tables which are frequently updated and/or deleted. Using OPTIMIZE TABLE command basically repairs/rebuilds a table bringing down it's size on disk if de-fragmented resulting in better performance, here is how you can do this using phpMyAdmin interface.

Launch phpMyAdmin and select a database.
All tables from the selected database will get listed on left-side frame, scroll to the bottom of the frame and click Check All link now select Optimize Table option from the With Selected drop-down box and the command will get executed.
Here are my results, notice how this simple command recovered 184.8 MB of wasted database disk-space.

Now, we will use two free database tuning scripts mysqltuner.pl and tuning-primer.sh to find the optimal configuration for our MySQL server installation, unlike the above procedure this needs to be done only once.

Log into your server console as root and execute the following commands to download both scripts.

Now, we need to make these scripts executable - use the following commands to do so.

Let the Updater finish its job until the DOS window disappears.
Check file report.txt in same folder for full report.
All the required update files will be now downloaded to the folder "Updates", You can now update the target machines using the offline update method discussed above pointing the Update location to the folder in removable disk.
