It’s called “Watercolor Magic” and in between its 128 Pages it contains just that: a whole lot of Watercolor Magic (with a lot of Mixed Media added in). I will share all of my Knowledge about the Basics of Supplies, Color Mixing, finding Inspiration, my favourite Techniques as well as teaching you how to draw cute, whimsical Faces and other whimsical Things (like Pets). If you’re not familiar with using Oracle Decks …

One of the most asked Question over the last Weeks was the Question about my favourite Colors by Daniel Smith or which Colors I would suggest to start with. So I decided to share my favourite Colors, the Colors I do not want to be without, with you and I did set up my own personal Top Ten Daniel Smith Pallette. In the Video I share about my favourite Colors, why I picked them and some more useful Information for Beginners on how to use the Watercolors from the Tube etc. , . . so I hope you will enjoy the Video and it is useful for you . . .

Picking just a few (and the right Colors) is not easy and seems like an unmanageable task especially for Beginners . . . Daniel Smith provides this awesome Color Chart with small Samples of each Color they have in their Range . . . that really helps to pick your own, personal favourites . . . so if you can get your hands on them, I would definitely suggest to get them . . . you will refer back to them whenever you want to purchase new Colors to expand your Palette, plus it helps to keep track of the Colors you already own.

The tale of the starving Artist, we all know it. BUT if you work hard and put all your Heart into it, it can be proven wrong. You CAN be an Artist and make a living of it, even a good Living. However, there are Things that can be so frustrating that sometimes you doubt what you do and that make you want to quit what you are doing. I thought about talking about this here on my Blog for quite a While now, and there are Pros and Cons (yes, I know that this Article might actually point some new future Customers to those cheap China Platforms I am talking about, but those have to make that up with their own conscience). I finally decided to share my two Cents on this . . . I just need to talk about this on here to get it off my System . . . so please consider watching this Video I made talking about how you feel as an Artist behind Designs that get stolen and copied and sold for cheap on large Platforms . . . and if this will help that only just a few people reconsider purchasing those cheap Ripoffs . . . then it was so worth it . . . I still do believe in the good in People . . .

So . . . what is this all about?

It started last Year when two or three of my Stamp Designs where copied by a Chinese Company . . . but lately more and more Copies popped up and by now you can really find ALL of my Stamps as cheap China Copies on this Platform. For Years I am designing and selling my Cre8tive Cre8tions Stamps and I enjoy coming up with new Illustrations and bringing you new Stamps, I enjoy this so much. It is my Passion, it brings me so much Joy . . . BUT, I also have to sell them and make some profit with them, quite obviously, as any small Business has to. And then . . . some big chinese Companies just steal all of your hard Work, all of your unique Designs, everything that you put all of your Heart into . . . and they sell them for very little Money . . . actually for less than I myself have to invest to even have the Stamps manufactured. They just steal your Designs, they do not even care about Copyright, they do not care about the Artists they destroy with their Actions, they just ignore any copyright law, they even remove Watermarks . . . this is so sad . . . but what is even more sad . . . people do buy those cheap Copies . . . because they are cheap, because they can save a couple of Bucks . . . but please consider, you get what you pay for . . . you might get the same Designs as in my Shop, BUT, the Quality of those cheap China Copies is pretty poor and the Stamps will not bring you lots of Joy on the long Run . . . but some People do not care, they only see the Money they can save . . . what is left is the Artist behind the Designs, frustrated and sad, considering to quit creating those Designs alltogether . . .

So if YOU are buying cheap stolen Design Stamps (or other Products) on those cheap China Platforms . . . it is your persoanl Decision . . . but next time consider the Artist behind the Designs, consider that this supports the Chinese Companies and it helps them to continue to do what they do . . . stealing from small Artists and small heartdriven Businesses . . . buying on those Platforms destroys those small, unique Businesses and sooner or later your favourite Artists will not provide any new Designs, because it is just not worth all the hard work anymore . . .

I know there are many people out there supporting the Artists they like, supporting small Businesses . . . supporting ME . . . and I totally appreciate that . . . but on the flipside I know there are those other people out there as well . . . and this goes out to all of them . . . please think twice next Time, please consider the consequences and think about how YOU would feel about this as an Artist behind those Designs those Chinese Companies steal to make some quick Money with them.

So . . . until I made up my mind about how I will proceed with the Stamp Part of my Business and with future Releases I have a huge Sale in my Shop for all existing Designs until those are gone . . .

One of the Questions I hear so so often is Which Skincolor do you use? or Which Watercolor Colors do I need? . . . and to be honest . . . it is so hard to give an Answer here because it really depends . . . if you want the convenient Solution and have some spare Money to spend on Art Supplies then I could recomment some of my favourite Pallettes / Brands / Colors (like the Prima Marketing / Art Philosophy Complexion, Woodlands, Decadent Pies, Vintage Pastels or in general Daniel Smith Watercolors). Those are wonderful, amazing Sets and Pre-Mixed Colors and of course it is super easy and convenient to just grab them and you are ready to go . . . however . . . if you ask which Colors you really NEED . . . then my answer would be very simple: 3 Colors . . . a Red, a Yellow and a Blue . . . that is actually all you need.

I talked a lot about this and about Mixing Skincolors in my new Online Class FACEcinating Girls Around the World, where I teach how to create 7 different Girls with different Ethnicities / different Skincolors from very pale to dark brown . . . and while I recorded those Videos for the Class I really liked the Idea of creating a couple of Pieces in the future ONLY using those 3 Primary Colors and mixing all Colors that I want / need myself. Because let us face it . . . I am an Art Supply Junkie and I am totally guilty myself of purchasing / owning every new Pallette that is available out there just because -look how pretty!- . . . but you learn so much when limiting yourself to only working with those 3 Primary colors and mixing all the Colors you want / need yourself . . . it is leaning by doing . . . if you ask me, the best Way of learning. You learn a lot about which Colors to mix to achive a certain Color, about the different Mixing Rations, about the amount of Water to add for a certain Look . . . and it is just so much fun.

Long Story Short . . . I just created my first Piece for this little Challenge . . . a cute little whimsical Spring Girl, and I would like to share a Video of the Process with you. Hey Hey wonderful artsy Friends! It is that Time of the Year again . . . December is drawing closer and we`re getting ready for another Year of the Artsy Advent Calendar, yay . . . super excited. This is the 4th Year I am doing the Artsy Advent Calendar and I am really excited for this Year`s Changes I have made . . .

As every Year there will be YouTube Videos (I will add those to the ) and I will share my Calendar Pages on Instagram and I will also share about the daily Prompts in my Insta Stories . . . and that is the New Thing this Year, we have a List of daily Prompts for the Artsy Advent Calendar.
