<p>Should I be concerned?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>In case you've been living under a rock, you know that the dominating headline this week is that Facebook went public on the NASDAQ and was one of, if not the, biggest stock offering of all time. Major league wealth was created for many involved. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">MAJOR</span> league wealth.</p>
<p>Speaking of <em>headlines</em>...</p>
<p>What kind of headlines are YOU making about you and your business these days? Any? I sure hope so, because most aren't.</p>
<p>Today, I have a powerful little "headline formula" for you that will do exactly what it MUST do...<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Get attention</span>. There is NO other job you have as an Entrepreneur today than to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">GET Attention</span>, otherwise you'll get lost in the shuffle, lost among all the noise and distractions out there, lost among ALL the choices people have, and lost among the sea of people playing on Facebook all day long...&nbsp; ;)<br /><br /></p>

<p><strong></strong><br />Welcome to the <em>Attention Deficit Age</em>...</p>
<p>Yeah, I know, not such an encouraging <em>Age</em> to be in, right? But it is what it is. And whether we like it or not, we're in it and it's here to stay. So let's play ball.</p>
<p>Now, what to do?</p>
<p>Let's talk about it...</p>
<p>We all face a battle like never before. It's the battle to "get noticed." And it's now harder than ever due to this massive "media landscape" we live in, in which everyone and everything, for the most part, is wide open. We have media hitting us from every possible angle now - Social Media, Email, text messaging, TV, radio, phone, and yes, still, print and newspaper. Yes, that was a <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em>real</em></span> newspaper my son was reading above. Made with real paper and everything. Fascinating, right?</p>
<p>A study showed the average length of time a visitor goes to <em>The New York Times</em> web site and stays there to read...</p>
<p>Answer - 2 minutes and 17 seconds. <em>The New York Times</em>! Shocking.</p>
<p>So how the heck do <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><em>you</em></strong></span> break in and grab some mind-share when even the big boys are struggling with it?</p>
<p>Two ways. But first, you must start with two questions...</p>
<p>1) How compelling is <strong><em>your</em></strong> message?</p>
<p>2) How unique are <strong><em>you</em></strong>?</p>
<p>Hmmm.....</p>
<p>Most look at me like a deer in headlights when I ask these questions, as I often do when I'm speaking and training on Copywriting. The reason... because most are too busy running around throwing up on anyone they can about their products and services. VERY few have <span style="text-decoration: underline;">first</span>, taken the time to craft a powerful <span style="text-decoration: underline;">message</span>. Even fewer have taken the time to structure a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Unique</span> Selling Proposition (USP).</p>
<p>Here's what I've noticed...</p>
<p>Very few Entrepreneurs have either. The ones that do make all the money. Take note.</p>
<p>Let's take a look at what I mean so that you can get the heck out of the mediocre majority and start separating yourself from the masses so that you <span style="text-decoration: underline;">GET Attention</span>. Here's two examples of boring, mundane, everyday messages vs. compelling, eye-catching, stop-you-in-your-tracks messages that lead to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">more sales</span>.<br /><br /></p>

<p><br />So, which one stands out? Which headline is more compelling? Pretty obvious it's message #2, right? Message #1 is what just about everyone else NOT trained on this subject does. Boring! Very little chance of any sales activity.</p>

<p>&nbsp;<br />Which is the winner here? Obvious again it's headline #2, right? See how deep it goes? See how it <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">digs</span> in</em> and gets specific? <span style="text-decoration: underline;">This is a skill anyone can learn</span>. No english degree required. In fact, NOT having one preferred....</p>
<p>Now let's talk about your Unique Selling Proposition (USP). This is key. In fact, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">everything</span> must start here. This is your defining statement. I never, ever begin a project without first creating a USP. Everything else follows.</p>
<p>Here's a few you may recognize...</p>
<p>Nike - <em>"Just Do It"</em></p>
<p>BMW - <em>"The Ultimate Driving Machine"</em></p>
<p>Fed Ex - <em>"When It Absolutely, Positively Has To be There On Time"</em></p>
<p>Those are great. But you won't get away with being that brief today unless you're a giant, publicly traded brand like those guys are. You, the independent Entrepreneur and small business owner, will have to go much, much deeper than this to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">GET Attention</span>.</p>
<p>Here's an all-time favorite example of mine that launched one of the largest pizza empires in the world. See if you can identify who it is now that there are a sea of pizza businesses out there...<br /><br /></p>

<p>Dominoes Pizza. This USP literally turned Dominoes from a struggling, almost bankrupt pizza business, to a worldwide brand now in hundreds of countries.</p>
<p>On a side note, you will no longer see that USP being used by Dominoes anymore... Too many car accidents followed by too many law suits started happening when their delivery guys drove like maniacs to make the 30-minute deliveries. True story.</p>
<p>Here's the USP I created when I launched my new sales training brand earlier this year, <em>CASH CONTROL For Networkers</em>...<br /><br /></p>

            <title>The 5 BIG &amp;quot;Breakthrough Areas&amp;quot; In Business. Plus, An Inside Look At My Workout Regimen..</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><br />Below is a shot of my condo where I live in downtown Miami, FL. It's an amazing spot right on the Biscayne Bay, less than ten minutes from South Beach, and only a few hours by car from Key West. I can't think of a better place to live in ALL of America than in <em>deep</em> South Florida, pretty much at the bottom eastern corner of the United States. You can't go too much lower or you'll, literally, be in the Caribbean. In fact, my son Nicolas and I, just last night, saw three dolphins swimming right in the bay outside our complex, only a few feet from the edge. Not sure you'd see that "in a city" anywhere else in the continental US. Insanely cool.</p>
<p>Anyway...</p>
<p>The complex is 44 floors high and once or twice a week, I do the stairs first thing in the morning. Meaning, I walk up them, at a brisk pace. Twice. That's 88 flights of stairs. Oh, and I do every other step for more intensity. Double steps. Then, I jump in the pool and swim a few laps. It's a pretty tough regimen, but it's quick. <br /><br /></p>

<div><br />What I've found, is that when you start your day with physical activity, it not only gets you in shape, it <span style="text-decoration: underline;">powers the mind</span> and makes you <span style="text-decoration: underline;">more alert</span> and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">far more creative</span> throughout the day. Your mental clarity will <span style="text-decoration: underline;">surge</span>. And I'm NOT talking about this mamsy-pansy <em>'cardio'</em> bull S&amp;^!T, walk or jog on the treadmill or ride a bike at the same pace for 40-minutes, <em>stuff</em>. I'm talking about <em>really </em>pushing yourself for only about 15 or 20 minutes. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Working</span>.<br /><br />(By the way - '<em>cardio'</em> is a total myth. The body was never designed for <em>'cardio</em>.' It was designed for <span style="text-decoration: underline;">short bursts</span> of high-intensity exercise. Do the research. All you have to do is look at the people who go to the gym four or five days per week and do<em> 'cardio'</em> for hours on end. Ever wonder why their bodies never change? Now you know - zero intensity, long, drawn out, low-intensity (God forbid I push myself, I might get injured) <em>'cardio</em>.' Ok, rant over. A topic for another day).<br /><br />So now that I've given you, what could be a <em>physical</em> breakthrough for you, which will, ultimately, become a <em>mental </em>breakthrough for you... on to my "5 Big 'Breakthrough Areas' In Business," which I know, will make a BIG difference in how you operate. In case you don't know who Eben is, he's one of, if not THE top Information Marketers in the world. His enterprise currently does in excess of $20 Million in revenue per year. Per year. Selling "how to" info primarily in the dating arena. Pre Match.com days I might add. This guy is sharp as a tack.</p>
At that event, he laid out the five highest growth areas of business that <em>must</em> be in place for your business to really take off. I call them "breakthrough areas." As you go through each of the five, take a minute to analyze where <span style="text-decoration: underline;">YOU</span> are at with each one. <br /><br />How are you doing in this area? How 'bout you give yourself a grade on each. An A, B, C, D or F. Whatdaya think? Wanna play?
<p><br />And be honest! You can't fix what you don't know needs fixin'...</p>

<p>Here we go...</p>
<strong>#1 - You:</strong>"You are your highest leverage." You call the shots and you get to decide how big or how small you want to be. You control your state of mind. The size of your box is only limited by you. You must constantly be developing yourself and your skills. "To become a person who attracts, keeps, and develops great people, you must first develop yourself in many ways."
<p><br />Right to the point and right on...</p>
<p><strong>#2 - Your Market:</strong> "Narrow your focus in the face of increasing opportunity." I thought this was interesting: "Develop the skill of overlooking opportunity." Hmmm…Contrary to popular belief. But, popular belief has never really won out when you think about it. Leaders don't follow the herd. They create the herd.</p>
<p>Simply put... FOCUS. Stop entertaining every idea that comes your way and jumping from the next opportunity to the next. Don't be a 'jack of all trades' and 'a master of none.' The masters win out. Stop trying to be all things to all people. It’s a rookie mindset anyway. Commit and focus. And never lose focus... or you lose. Period.</p>
<p>Put the blinders on. Pick a direction and run with it like there is no tomorrow. THIS is where the big success starts to show up. Do you think Eben was entertaining <em>other</em> business opportunities while he was building his multi-million dollar empire early on? Of course not! He knew where he was going and he successfully developed the skill of "overlooking opportunity" once he created <em>his</em> opportunity.</p>
<p>That couldn't have come at a more appropriate time than today as we are ALL over exposed and inundated with <em>new</em> information and <em>new</em> ideas...</p>
<p><strong>#3 - Your Marketing:</strong> You must create "public consciousness" in your marketing efforts. Look for customers who are looking for you. "It's better to be <span style="text-decoration: underline;">first</span> than it is to be <span style="text-decoration: underline;">better</span>."</p>
<p>Love that comment.</p>
<p>Make sure there is pain and urgency in your message or an "irrational passion." This causes an emotional drive from your prospect or customer. People <em>act</em> on emotion and justify with logic. Its human nature. We are all wired this way.</p>
<p>Another interesting concept here.... He said, when it comes to creating <em>names</em> for you or your business, "create names that are impossible to forget, not easy to remember." You might want to read that again. Eben used the pen name David Deangelo, "Double Your Dating" for years. Say that a few times. David Deangelo, "Double Your Dating." It bounces around in your head, right? Tough to forget.</p>
<p>And... start giving away more for FREE. Don’t keep your best ideas a secret. Share them. Give them away. Lose the scarcity mentality. Give to get. "Give away the what to do. Sell the how to do it."</p>
<p>Genius. Yet so simple...</p>
<p><strong>#4 - Your People: </strong> When you start bringing people into your business to assist you with your growth (and this better be in your plans or you are NOT planning for success) make sure they are "Drivers."</p>
<p>I love this term... <em>Drivers</em>. Drivers are people who focus on <em>results</em> not work. Big difference. A Driver has a sense of personal responsibility. In my world I call this "taking ownership" or what Eben says: "Taking ownership of the result." Even better. A Driver is persistent and determined. A Driver does NOT need to be told what to do.</p>
<p>This is why Eben only hires Virtual Assistants in his multi-million dollar enterprise. Because he can give them ownership. He can pick out the stars and he has no obligation to them. He does not pay them a salary. He does not pay their benefits. They are independent contractors. No entitlement mentality. VA's are not employees and they tend NOT to view their projects in terms of <em>work</em> but in terms of <em>results</em> (at least the good ones will).</p>
<p>VA's are becoming the <em>secret of the wealthy</em> in the Information Marketing world these days, and the growth in this space has been staggering as of late. Personally, I have a half dozen VA's currently working with me in my business ventures. I couldn't function at a high level without them.</p>
<p>Eben now has 80 full time VA's around the world. 80.</p>
<p><strong>#5 - Your Systems:</strong> Three words here: Automate, <em>Automate</em>, and Automate. "Automate the repetitive tasks and outsource the more complex projects." Always remember.. systems never fail, people fail.</p>
<p>BUT, and this is a big BUT... never outsource your core marketing projects. This is your baby and no one knows your business like YOU do. Those of you who know me personally, or are coached and mentored by me directly, know that I feel pretty strongly about that last point and you should too...</p>
<p>Writing your own sales copy and your own ads and your own offers is your most valuable skill and will allow you to be YOU in your advertising efforts. Finger on the pulse. I'm shocked time and time again by the people who want to <em>outsource</em> their marketing. What?! That's like a heart surgeon outsourcing heart surgery! Goodness! Your marketing is your <span style="text-decoration: underline;">single highest revenue activity</span>. Bar none. Outsource everything else if you must but NOT your marketing. You are IN the marketing business.</p>
<p>So there you have it from one of the top Info Marketers of our time. Bold statement, I know. I'm not afraid to make it though after hearing and seeing Eben speak for two hours and learning about the outrageous revenue he's pulling in.</p>
<p>Notice how often the word "Your" was used in his overview. See a theme developing here?</p>
<p>Everything is in YOUR control my friend. At the end of the day... YOU are your most important asset. Stop looking for answers outside YOU.</p>

            <title>The Game - Take The Self ________ Challenge ?</title>

<p>(Ever notice how most people call it <em>cold</em>, <em>hard</em> cash. Not me! That stuff is <em>warm</em> and <em>soft</em>. Keep calling it <em>cold</em> and <em>hard</em> and you'll be lucky if you ever get much of it. FYI).</p>
<p>Anyway... That's a topic for another time...</p>
<p>So every month I give away one $100 bill to the "Marketer of the Month." Three people each month get to compete. They need to show the audience the exact marketing campaign(s) they are running and the audience, usually close to 100 people, votes. The winner takes the cash. But the winner gets more than that. He or she also greatly improves their game just by competing. Competition has a funny way of making us step up and perform at a much higher level.</p>

<p>We’re going to talk about the inner game of building your business.&nbsp; I believe that the inner game is simply all-important.&nbsp; “The inner game” is a new term for a classic idea explained many different times, many different ways by virtually every success educator, and even philosophers...</p>
<p>In the book <em>Think and Grow Rich</em>, Napoleon Hill reveals the secret using the words, “thoughts are things.” Dennis Waitley has worked with U.S. astronauts and Olympic athletes on their inner games.&nbsp; Author Tim Galloway explores the ideas of his books, <em>The Inner Game of Golf, The Inner Game of Tennis</em> and <em>The Inner Game of Selling.</em></p>
<p>Interestingly, there is a never-ending connection between the inner game in sport and the inner game in business, allowing experts like Waitley, Galloway, ex-quarterback Fran Tarkenton and golfer Arnold Palmer, among others, to step back and forth between expounding on success techniques in the athletic and business worlds.</p>
<p>In all cases, these people speak much more about attitudes than aptitudes for a good reason.&nbsp; Surveys, studies and research consistently reaffirm that 85% of your success will depend on attitudinal factors, 15% on aptitude. Yet in your formal education and in most continuing education, the emphasis is on the opposite - 15% on attitude, 85% on aptitude.</p>
<p>Certainly technical knowledge and skills are important. In your profession, you must deliver <span style="text-decoration: underline;">excellence</span> based on your staying up to date in techniques, products, materials and ideas. However, such <span style="text-decoration: underline;">excellence</span> alone will never build a successful, growing, profitable business. The excellence that will, is an excellence created and sustained in your own mind.&nbsp; This is the most difficult, least tangible aspect of building your business that we’ll ever talk about, but it's also one of the most important...</p>
<p>Yeah, but what is it?</p>
<p>So what is the <strong><em>Inner Game</em></strong>?&nbsp;</p>
<p>The way I see it, the inner game can be broken down into three major components:</p>
<p>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Self esteem<br />•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Self image&nbsp;<br />•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Self discipline</p>
<p>Quality in these four areas is a necessary foundation to personal and professional success.</p>
<p><strong><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Self Esteem</span></strong>:</p>
<p>Self Esteem is essentially your feelings of worth.&nbsp; How much success do you deserve?&nbsp; How much money should you make?&nbsp; How much is your time worth?</p>
<p>Here, briefly, are seven ideas for strengthening self-esteem:</p>
<p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Establish worthwhile, meaningful goals and values.<br /><br />2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Take massive action to get your own financial house in order if it isn’t now. Reduce debt, bring expenses under income, and invest every single month.<br /><br />3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Give yourself recognition for each and every accomplishment.</p>
<p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Manage your time productively.&nbsp; Procrastination and disorganization rob many people of their self-esteem.</p>
<p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Associate with positive-minded, happy people who encourage and motivate you.&nbsp; Don’t hang out with folks who are negative, unhappy, critical or jealous.</p>
<p>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Continually acquire new know-how in you profession and in the areas of business, sales and communication.</p>
<p>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Regularly invest in improving your office and home environments, tools and equipment, wardrobe and other external things that impact on your attitudes. <strong></strong></p>
<p><strong><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Self Image</span></strong>:</p>
<p>Self image is how you see yourself. It’s who you think you are. Your self image is controlled mostly by <em>self-imposed limits</em>. Very few people ever perform beyond those self-imposed limits. A salesman whose father never earned more than $25,000 a year in his life may well see himself as a $25,000 a year guy.&nbsp; And he will subconsciously screw up the opportunities to earn more that come his way.</p>
<p>In the financial area, the controversial Reverend Ike calls this a money rejection syndrome, and I am convinced that such a thing definitely exists.&nbsp; One man I know, who made over $100 million in his business in its first three years from scratch, had gone broke in business several times before. After the three years of remarkable success, he said, “Making $100 million is about the easiest thing I’ve ever done.&nbsp; Believing it could happen to me was the hard part that took 20 years.”</p>
<p>Your self image was created and is sustained through self talk, the use of affirmations - and that is also the method you can use to alter and modify your self image, literally as you wish. I call the process self image goal setting, because most people who set goals set only “to get” and “to have” goals; they fail to set “to be” goals.&nbsp; I encourage you to balance your approach to goal setting by including some self image modification.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Self Discipline</strong></span>:</p>
<p>Self Disciple, the 3rd component of the inner game, is quite possibly the most important. Success lecturer Jim Rohn says that most people do not associate lack of discipline with lack of success.</p>
<p>Most people think of failure as one earth-shattering event, such as a company going out of business or a home being foreclosed on. This, however, Jim Rohn says, is how failure happens.</p>
<p>Failure is rarely the result of some isolated event; rather, it is a consequence of a long list of accumulated little failures, which happen as a result of too little discipline. I agree. I find that most people understandably tend to look everywhere but in the mirror for the sources of their failures as well as the victories.</p>
<p>I’m here to tell you it’s not the town you’re in, not your location, not the economy, not the weather, not your competitors - it’s your own discipline that makes the difference between excellence or mediocrity, between getting by or getting rich.</p>
<p>It’s interesting to observe professionals.&nbsp; I often say to my associates, “Let me watch the professional’s behavior before, during and after the seminar, and I’ll guess his annual income within a few thousand dollars.”&nbsp; It’s actually pretty easy to do.</p>
<p>Jim Rohn says that: <em>"discipline is the bridge between thought and accomplishment."</em></p>
<p>I’d encourage you to take the self discipline challenge very seriously...</p>
<p>Select those areas that you know are your weakest links - timely paperwork, punctuality, daily self-improvement study, being happy and enthusiastic first thing in the morning, whatever your personal stumbling blocks are - and apply new, tough, demanding disciplines to yourself in those areas. You’ll find that success in these particular areas of your day-to-day life will roll over into greater success in all parts of you life.</p>
<p>For example, let’s look at the ultimate athletes - professional football players.&nbsp; A pro ball player knows that every single moment of his on-the-job performance is recorded on film, to be replayed and reviewed later in stop-action slow motion, for critique by his superiors and co-workers.</p>
<p>If your day was filmed and reviewed, how would you feel during the replay?</p>
<p>Of course, the professional football players who have to put up with this sort of thing are highly paid....</p>
<p>Yes, the inner game stuff is tough.&nbsp; If being a big success were easy, everybody would be one. You’ve got to decide what <em><strong>you</strong></em> really want to be, do, have, accomplish - and decide whether or not you’re willing to adhere to the disciplines necessary to get it.</p>
<p>In order to have the opportunity to accomplish virtually any goals you honestly desire, you must accept the related responsibility for everything you get...</p>

            <title>&amp;quot;10 Things To Look For In A Coach&amp;quot; (Important)</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><br /><br /><img style="margin: 10px 20px; float: left;" src="http://andrewjcass.com/images/2012-nfl-draft-logo.jpg" height="235" width="250" />If you're a football fan here in the US, you know that last night the 2012 NFL Draft kicked off in prime time (college players being drafted to play Pro Football and become instant Millionaires, for those of you who may not know, and for some perspective).</p>
<p>The talent this year was big. These guys are bigger, faster, and more agile then ever. Many are physical freaks of nature, blessed to play the game. But many are not. Many got there through <span style="text-decoration: underline;">brutally hard work</span> and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">fierce commitment</span>. Growing up playing football all the way up to the NCAA Division 1-AA level, I know what goes on. I also know there is "one commonality" among <em>all</em> these high-level athletes that, also, seems to be a commonality among all high-level entrepreneurs....</p>
<p>They <em>all</em> put a major emphasis on "coaching." There's always some sort of coach(s) or trainer(s) or advisor(s) surrounding ALL of them. Many, since they were young, and some, simply in the form of their parent(s) as mentors, which we should all be as parents. I know I am, and strive to be always for my son (who turned 16 months old today).</p>
<p>So this week, a super article I have for you on what to look for in a coach or mentor. Read it closely. Often times, its only one or two people in our lives in the form of "coach" or "mentor" that changes <span style="text-decoration: underline;">everything</span> for us. It has been for me, and countless others. I can point back to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">less than three people</span> who served me as "coach" or "mentor" and opened doors for me that, otherwise, would NOT have been opened, and who knows where I'd be had it not been for <em>them</em>...<br /><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>"10 Things To Look For In A Coach" </strong></em></p>
<p><br />In my last Blog post,<strong><em></em></strong>I wrote about "Fakers" in business, and it got a LOT of attention and ended up being published on a few major syndication networks. With good reason... because so many agree. And because so few are "Real" anymore these days.</p>
<p>That said, a friend of mine and a member of my Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle chapter here in South Florida, sent me the following article from <em>Forbes</em> on what to look for in coach or mentor. It's a great piece and a perfect follow up to my piece on "Fakers" in business. I think you'll enjoy this...</p>

<p><em><strong></strong></em><em><strong><br /></strong></em>Peyton Manning signs a new deal for nearly $100 million to play football. Some guy named CC Sabathia signs last fall for $122 million to throw a fastball over a white piece of rubber. Both guys at the top of their game. Skill off the charts. Champions. Leaders.&lt;p &gt;And they still have 3 coaches… each.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You would think it crazy if Peyton suddenly declared he didn’t need a coach anymore. Can you hear him now?<em> “Listen. I am the best. I know how to play and have it all figured out. What more can anyone teach me? What more do I need to learn? Nope. I am just going out there on my own now. No coaching needed. Just get out of my way.”</em></p>
<p>Yeah, right.</p>
<p>If these guys still need 3 coaches each, maybe you and I need at least 10...</p>
<p>Even the all-time greatest entrepreneur of our time, Steve Jobs, had a team of coaches. Sure, he called them “advisors” and “board members”, but it’s the same thing. The purpose is the same. To get counsel. To get advice.</p>
<p>One of the worst mistakes you can make as an entrepreneur is trying to go it alone. Like a lone-wolf. Out there on your own. Maybe starving to death.</p>
<p>Mistake.</p>
<p>When I spoke with one successful entrepreneur coach and mentor, she said this: <em>“One of the big reasons entrepreneurs fail is they do not listen to the wisdom of others. They just refuse to get counsel.”</em></p>
<p>But it doesn't have to be this way. You and I can learn from others. We can get guidance. We can get coaching.</p>
<p>Don’t currently have a mentor or coach? Don’t know where to start?</p>
<p>Lucky for you I've got… "10 Traits To Look For In a Coach and Mentor."</p>
<p><strong>1) Previous Entrepreneurial Experience</strong> -- Yes, this may seem obvious, but do you know how many mentors, consultants and coaches out there have never actually had their own business before? And no, their consulting business to help you doesn’t count. <br /><br />Think of it this way: It would be like seeking marriage counseling from a person who has never been married. Um, yeah. Moving on please…<br /><br /><strong>2) Variety of Experience as an Entrepreneur </strong>(Including the “F” Word) -- And one step further? Why not go for a mentor who has started or owned multiple businesses? Yes, the more variety the better. Remember, you’re looking for a mentor and coach who can help you see a different perspective on things. No better match than a serial entrepreneur -- especially one who has experienced success and yes: failure.<br /><br /><strong>3) High Level of Integrity, Honesty and Respect</strong> -- Bruce Nordstrom of, well, Nordstrom used to say this: <em>“We can hire nice people and teach them to sell, but we can’t hire salespeople and teach them to be nice.</em><br /><br />In other words, you have to look at the core of the person whom you wish to be your coach and mentor. Their core character. If it’s somehow whacked -- better turn and run. Fast.<br /><br /><strong>4) No “Yes-Man” Please</strong> -- It’s important you find someone who will give it to you straight. You don’t need a “yes-man” around, and you sure don’t need things sugar coated. You need real input. Real perspective. And real guidance. And yes, you get to make the final decision, but at least you’re getting some tangible input to go on. Oh, and a promise to make you rich in 30 days? See #3 above.<br /><br /><strong>5) Big Picture Thinker</strong> -- You want a mentor who helps you think about the big picture, and then drills down to the details from there. One of the biggest hurdles entrepreneurs have is getting too close to their own ideas. You’ve got to have someone who can back you up a bit. Help you see the big vision. And then yes, help you build detailed strategies to get there. <br /><br /><strong>6) Genuinely Cares About You</strong> -- You want someone who is genuinely concerned about helping you realize your dreams as an entrepreneur. Having a coach who only cares about themselves and cashing your check at the end of the week is a dead end road. No, they don’t need to bring you milk and cookies every day, but you get the point, right?<br /><br /><strong>7) Encouraging &amp; Empathetic</strong> -- This may seem counter to #4, but we’re not talking about the same thing here. You will need someone there to pick you up after you’ve gotten knocked to the ground. And believe me, as an entrepreneur, you will get knocked down.<br /><br />So, it’s good to have a coach and mentor who will encourage you and cheer you on. And yes, be there to stick a bandage on your knee and tell you it’s going to be okay.<br /><br /><strong>8) Results Oriented</strong> -- Ever been to a counselor who just wants to sit on the couch and talk about your feelings all the time? Day after day, week after week, month after month? Never really making any breakthrough and getting results on the problem? Believe me, you don’t want to go there. You want results and you want a mentor who will help you get them. Period.<br /><br /><strong>9) Body of Work</strong> -- Try to find a coach and mentor who has created their own content and body of work. Meaning? Someone who is a thought leader and maybe written articles, books, or speeches on the entrepreneurial life. Again, this goes to #1 above — ‘tis better to have someone who has lived the life vs. just reading you a bedtime story about it.<br /><br /><strong>10) Trusted Authority</strong> -- Lastly, you want a person who has credibility and is seen as an authority by others for their entrepreneurial wisdom. Quoted or found in major publications like Forbes, Entrepreneur or Inc. Magazine. A person who is well-thought of and knows what they’re doing. Basically, a trusted source and leader.<br /><br />Do whatever it takes to find yourself a guy or gal who fits all the above. And yes, you could take shortcuts and disregard some of these traits. But why would you? We’re talking about your life here my friend...</p>
<p>And although you probably haven’t bagged that $100 million dollar deal yet, look to Peyton Manning and say “yes” to coaching.             <description><![CDATA[<p><img style="margin: 10px 20px; float: left;" src="http://andrewjcass.com/images/Aristotle.jpg" height="292" width="219" /><br />I love this picture to the left...</p>
<p>I have an office (outside of my home) in mid town Miami that I show up at once in awhile. Usually when I want to be distracted by people who get nothing done and like to gossip all day. Fun to watch once in awhile. Actually, I use it mainly for my private mastermind groups.</p>
<p>Anyways, this picture is on one of the walls. In case you can't read it, it says: <em>"No great genius has ever existed without some touch of madness." </em>- Aristotle</p>
<p>It really is true when you think about. In fact, if you analyze and study any great business mind, entrepreneur, or super-achiever, you'll see some <em>madness</em>, for sure. Steve Jobs is one example that comes to mind. <em>Madness</em> in a good way, by the way. Check the definition. One of it's meanings is: "Intense excitement or enthusiasm."</p>
<p>My point... there's madness happening in our little business world these days. Not the good kind. The other kind. As in one if it's <span style="text-decoration: underline;">other</span> meanings: "insanity."</p>
<p>So today, a bit of rant. Let's just say, I'm at the boiling point. Read on and you'll see what I'm talking about (a BIG lesson within).<br /><br />This will be a brief (but instructive) rant...<em></em></p>
<p>I have growing disdain for the amount of coaches, mentors, consultants, advisors, etc. popping up like tulips in the spring. Have you noticed the surge of these guys and gals as of late? I feel like it's everywhere I turn...</p>
<p>The success coach with no success... the money coach with no money... the sales trainer who never made sales... the online business coach with no online business revenue. And my favorite... the life coach with no life.</p>
<p>Gotta love this country.<br /><br />Drives me nuts.</p>
<p>I have three words for it: Out Of Integrity.</p>
<p>Whatever happened to good old fashion "results <span style="text-decoration: underline;">first</span>" ??</p>
<p>Back in the day (pre-Internet) we wouldn't even hear of this <em>madness</em>. But today, it's rampant. My point in all of this for you is two-fold:</p>
<p>1. Take note. Keep score. Be mindful of who you let advise YOU or coach YOU. Look for track records, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">long-term track records</span>, before you hand over your hard earned money. As in "years" doing it, not "months." Qualify them. Offend them if you must. And if they're offended, they're simply not qualified to advise you (good test by the way).</p>
<p>2. Be even more mindful of who YOU aspire <span style="text-decoration: underline;">to be</span> in your business or who you might be <span style="text-decoration: underline;">being</span> right now. Because whether you realize it or not, you will never, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">ever</span> have the results you're looking for if you're masquerading around as a teacher of something you've never successfully performed at. Never. Don't even try and kid yourself. Subconsciously, you'll never <span style="text-decoration: underline;">allow</span> yourself to succeed because deep down, you know you're faking it...</p>
<p>Any wonder why our school system in the US is broken, and why Washington DC is broken (and broke)?</p>
<p>Professors teaching business who have never been in business. Politicians running the "business of America" who have never run a business. Ever.</p>
<p>Gotta love this country.</p>
<p>My solution, always the same, and almost always met with disappointment...</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Go out and produce "sales results" first</span>. Yes, sales results. Imagine that. No other kind of results even matter because if something isn't sold, there is no business. Move products and services in large numbers into the hands of those who need them. THIS IS HOW BUSINESS WORKS. Always has, always will. Anyone who tells you different, well, probably the Professor from above.</p>
<p>As in, become the top sales guy or gal in your company first. "Zip the lip and produce", I like to say. Then, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">and only then</span>, do you get to go out and teach it. Doesn't work the other way around.</p>
<p>Jeez, is it really this hard?<br /><br />Ok my rant has ended.&nbsp;&nbsp; ;)<br /><br />Think about all this...<br /><br />I hope to see many of you next week in Las Vegas at <strong>No Excuses 3 Summit </strong>where I speak on Sunday morning April 22nd. Come say hello. I'd love to meet you in person If I haven't already....</p>
<p><br />(Hey, next time you sit down with a Financial Advisor, flip the switch on him and ask him for <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em>his</em></span> net worth statement instead. I'll bet he looks at you like a dear in headlights. If he produces it, there's your guy! If not, there's your answer. Why would you want someone handling your money if they don't have more of it than you?)</p>

            <title>Everyone Wants 'The Secret' But Very Few Want This..</title>

<p>No matter how technologically advanced we've become, nothing will ever replace good old-fashioned, "belly-to-belly" human interaction. Especially in the Direct Selling business, the ultimate people business. That's one secret. And today, I have another, that may surprise you. <br /><br />Read on....<br /><br />I recently co-authored a book with the world's #1 marketing strategist and highest paid copywriter, Dan Kennedy, along with a dozen of my Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle members here in South Florida called: "<em>The Ultimate Success Secret - South Florida Edition."</em> The timing of this project couldn't have been any better because nowadays it seems as if everyone wants 'the secret' - the secret to success, the secret to more money, the secret to better relationships, the secret to losing weight, and on and on. <br /> <br /> But there's just one problem... <br /> <br /> They want <em>the secret</em>... but they rarely want <em>the strategy</em>. <br /> <br /> Which brings me to a timely story, or analogy...<br /><br />A man is lost in the middle of the desert, in blistering heat; nothing but simmering sand in every direction farther than he can see. In his possession he has a good, but small canteen filled with water. He <em>could</em> hunker down, bury the canteen in the sand, lie above it, take it out and permit himself only the tiniest of sips, and <em>hope</em> for rescue. But even in the best of canteens, the water is evaporating. And it will, in relatively short order, be gone. <br /> <br /> While this may seem the safest, most <em>hopeful</em> approach, it actually has plenty of risk: evaporation + sipping may = death long, long, long before any rescue party wanders by. Or, instead of a rescue party, a band of thieves may come by, take his water, clothes, gold coins, and leave him for dead. A wild animal may eat him. A deadly snake may bite him in his fitful sleep. Further, <em>hope</em> of rescue is a very poor strategy. <br /> <br /> In truth, his best chances... admittedly, not all that encouraging in this scenario, but still the best, would be to pick a direction and start hiking, probably at night rather than day, and drink the water as he must to fuel his forward <em>movement</em>. Of course, if he had with him a compass, a map, or a companion very knowledgeable about their isolated location and about survival in the desert, his chances go way up with <em>motion</em>. They stay the same if the two hunker down and <em>hope</em>.....</p>
<p>My point... Your associations, your networks, you relationships, represent that <em>helpful companion</em>.<br /> <br /> You can pretty much ask people about their strategy nowadays after using this quick story and most likely you will get a blind stare, a 'deer-in-headlights' look by many. If someone is honestly committed to the "hope 'n hunker down" strategy, we can all wish him or her the best of luck and a quick good bye. They're on their way out....<br /> <br /> Do YOU have a strategy?<br /> <br /> Most don't. They're too busy looking for <em>the secret</em>. But the secret is... there is no secret. There's only action, motion, movement. The secret is <em>never</em> about some new weight loss thingy or some new marketing technique you see online or on TV. It's <em>always</em> about the action someone takes <strong>with</strong> the new thingy or technique.... That, my friend, is the real <em>secret</em> of high-achievers. <br /> <br /> Stay in motion. Always. No "hoping and hunkering down" for you. I won't allow that kind of behavior in those I train and mentor<strong></strong>.             <title>The Deepest Driver Of Human Behavior...</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><br /><br /><img style="margin: 10px 20px; float: left;" src="http://andrewjcass.com/images/Steve-Jobs-with-iphone.jpg" height="237" width="201" />The world lost one of the greatest innovators of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">all time</span> this past week, Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs. Aside of Walt Disney, I know of  no other business mogul that impacted as many people as Steve Jobs did.<br /><br />Very sad news to me...<br /><br />I  love Apple products and I loved Steve Jobs. He'll be greatly missed. I  wanted to take a second and acknowledge him here today for all he did to  make technology more efficient and FUN.<br /><br />I especially loved how  he always seemed to&nbsp; miraculously see the future before the future even  arrived. Think iTunes. He somehow revolutionized the way we now ALL get  and listen to music. Unbelievable to me. Thank you Steve Jobs...<br /><br />On  to this week's blog post, a topic Steve Jobs knew better than anyone -  <em>what drives human behavior.</em> Everything he built centered around this  "one topic."<br /><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>"The Deepest Driver Of Human Behavior"<br /></strong></em></p>
<p><br />Many people don't know this, but the deepest drivers of human behavior are a sense of "inadequacy" and "inferiority" and the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">desire to overcome it</span>...<em><br /><br />Everybody</em>...   even the most accomplished and wealthiest people, feel inferior in  some  way, to someone. And nowadays, everyone is always trying to  impress  someone or "one up" someone else. Think about it. It's a BIG  reason  behind the mortgage meltdown in the US. Many people over leveraged themselves to buy houses they really couldn't afford.</p>
<p>For what? Because they needed more space? Or because they needed to feel <em>adequate</em>? Or, perhaps, because they needed to feel like they "one upped" their friends or co-workers?</p>
<p>Here's  a  better example of this human behavior in action: let's say Johnny  buys  DVD's, gadgets, and lessons to fix his swing so he can hit the  golf ball  harder and straighter. Is he working this hard to hit the  ball harder  and straighter? Doubt it. He desperately wants to stop  being  embarrassed. He is sick of his buddy Bob hitting the ball  perfectly  when he can't. He's even sicker of Bob's arrogant superiority  about  it...</p>
<p>Johnny  at  least wants to hit the ball harder and straighter than someone else  in  his foursome. But of course, harder and straighter than Bob.   Therefore, his purchases are all about Bob, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not about himself</span>.   If Johnny played golf all alone on an isolated golf course in the  middle  of no where, for his own pleasure, why would he care how hard he  could  hit the ball, right?</p>
<p>You  may be  tempted to think this kind of psychology doesn't apply to your  product  or service. You'd be dead wrong. Resist the temptation. Not  catering to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">the deepest drivers of human behavior</span> leaves you vulnerable to commoditization, price-based competition, and average positioning...</p>
<p>People don't pay for average. Steve Jobs knew this every day he woke up and went to work...</p>
<p>Now, how can YOU  weave this into your marketing and/or your sales presentation? <br /><br />This applies  to every business you know...             <title>Are You A &amp;quot;Protester&amp;quot; Or A &amp;quot;Producer&amp;quot; ?</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p><br /><img style="margin: 10px 20px; float: left;" src="http://andrewjcass.com/images/Ipadpic.jpg" height="219" width="300" /><br />I recently won two iPads in a sales contest for a big product launch this summer...<br /><br />I tell you this for two reasons:<br /><br />1) Most people take it easy during the summer and market <em>less</em>. Not me.<br /><br />2) Most people lose momentum during the summer. And they <em>rarely</em> get it back. Not me. <br /><br />Momentum  is a funny thing actually. It works well in both directions. Many don't  realize that until it's often times too late.....<br /><br />Now that the  summer is over and the fall is here, it's time to get back on track (if you  fell off) or ramp things up, if you maintained your momentum through the  <em>dog days of summer</em>. And I have just the thing for you today, which is one of the ways I maintain momentum at ALL times in my businesses....</p>
<p>So on to my topic here.....<br /><br />"Protester" or "Producer"&nbsp; ??<br /><br />Hmmmm....<br /><br />I heard this distinction awhile back from human achievement expert, Dennis Waitley, and it  stuck with me. He said: <em>"in life, you can either be a protester or a producer, but you can't be both."</em></p>
<p>How true.</p>
<p>Have  you  noticed nowadays that a large segment of the population are always   complaining, pointing fingers, justifying, and blaming someone or   something for their shortcomings (protesting)? While a much smaller  segment of the population are <em>quietly</em> creating more value, inspiring, and influencing others positively with their ideas and actions (producing)?</p>
<p>Unfortunately,  the latter group is shrinking and the former group is growing, fast.   You see, the latter group feels it is "someone else's" responsibility   while the former group feels it is "their" responsibility. A monumental   difference. And a difference that, no doubt, separates one from   happiness, success, and prosperity in ALL areas of their lives...</p>
<p>I  bring this up here today because as we head into the fall and the late  part of 2011, this is an ideal time to identify whether or not YOU have   been a "protester" or a "producer" thus far, this year....</p>
<p>I've  always felt that September is a pivotal month in the Direct Selling  industry, only behind January, because it is the month that begins the  fall and sets the tone for the close of the year AND sets you up for the  beginning of NEXT year. This is great time to  re-analyze where you're  at with your goals and big ideas you came into 2011 with.  Many fall  short a few weeks into the New Year, others a few months into  the New  Year. But here's what almost everyone makes the mistake of doing...</p>
<p>They stop. They chalk it up as a loss because they fell off course. They say: <em>"oh well, maybe next year." </em>And ya know what happens?</p>
<p>Year  after  year goes by... and no "production." And then they "protest."  They start  placing blame, pointing fingers, justifying, and making  excuses. It's a  vicious cycle. It spreads like wildfire...if you let  it. <em>Momentum</em>... remember, it works in both directions....</p>
<p>I'm  asking  you to draw a line in the sand right now, right here as we kick  off the fall, and to reject those thoughts. I'm asking you to take   responsibility for your outcomes, to stand for nothing less than  deliberate  "production" in ALL areas of your life, both business and  personal.  I'm asking you to no longer stand for blaming, finger  pointing, excuse  making, and "protesting" of any kind.<br /><br />(I'm guessing because you're a subscriber to my Blog you already don't stand for these things. But I still had to put it out there)</p>
<p>I've  lived my  life this way since I was as a young boy in high school.  Playing  football at a highly competitive level in both high school and  college  began this journey for me.</p>
<p>How?</p>
<p>Because I forced myself into an <em>environment</em> that, initially, was way over my head. On paper, I shouldn't have even   played the game. I was too small and not fast enough. I was cut from my   freshman high school football team. I could have made every excuse in   the book not to continue. My best friend at the time did. He was also   cut. We never really spoke again...</p>
<p>Instead of making excuses and pointing fingers, I <em>persisted</em>.   I even had to play little league football that year, as a high school   freshman, with all the 7th and 8th graders. Embarrassing. I worked   through the pain, frustration and discomfort though. I took   responsibility for my short comings and I improved in all areas I   could.&nbsp; By the time I was a senior, I led the entire school in   touchdowns that year and was the only player who went on to play   football at a Division 1 college... <br /><br /><em>Momentum</em>.</p>
<p>Somewhere in  your life you may be pointing fingers or making excuses for <em>not</em> being  where you want to be, and you may be justifying why. You may not be forcing  yourself into an <em>environment</em> that forces you to step up, step out  of your comfort zone, and "produce." You may not be asking enough of   yourself. It's common. But, it should be unacceptable to you....</p>
<p>You can get past it though... if you want to. You'll first need to relinquish all blaming, excuse making, and justifying... all "protesting." When you do, you can't help but "produce." Trust me.</p>
<p>I promise you  this... the feeling you get, the control you gain, and the liberation  you'll feel, is like no other when you take responsibility and make the  choice  to live this way, to push yourself a little bit more, to live as a   "producer" not as a "protester." It, also, spreads like wild fire...if   you let it.<br /><br /><em>Momentum</em>.</p>
<p>This is the way I maintain my <em>momentum</em> throughout the year - by choosing to be a "producer" in ALL areas of my  life. Each and every day. Because small changes in language lead to BIG  changes in behavior. Doesn't work the other way around.<br /><br />So are you up for my little challenge here?</p>
