Samsung has just released a new update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S2. This is the ROM XWLSN that comes to improve battery life and some bugs in the rear camera.

This firmware has basically the same features as the XWLSJ and incorporates:

Corrigendum

TouchWiz Nature UX

S Cloud

New lock screen

Direct Call, Stay Smart and Pop Up Play

Galaxy S3 Widgets

50 GB free space in Dropbox

Google Now

New Notifications bar and Toggles

Two home screen modes

Previous requirements:

All data such as contacts, SMS, photos, music and videos will be deleted if they are stored in your phone. Please do not do a backup of the data with KIES as it creates the backup in the format (. SBU) that sometimes has problems in the restoration or does not recognize the phone. Therefore, is strictly recommended that the backup contacts as well as the SMS is performed by following the steps below:

SMS – Use SMS Backup y app Restoration

Contacts – Sync with Gmail application

Songs, videos, files – Copy to SD card

Take note of APN and MMS settings in Applications> Settings> Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks> APN

Make sure that all security solutions like firewalls, antivirus and KIES application are completely closed until firmware update finishes.

It is very important to make sure you have ADMIN privileges before proceeding to update the phone and the USB port must be open which means you must have read / write so that the firmware can be applied successfully.

Note that you will need to charge your phone at least 90% battery to ensure that does not interrupt the update.

Never interrupt the firmware update manually, just in case, if interrupted by power failure there is no need to worry because all you have to do is follow the instructions from the beginning.

Whatever firmware you currently using, if you have root access you will lose it because it´s an official firmware.

Samsung fulfills their promise and updates another of its popular devices to the benefits of Jelly Bean

For nearly a year since the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 was confirmed by their manufacturers to receive Jelly Bean at some point, and while it has taken more than usual finally is here the so precious update to Android 4.1.2.

As usual, the update is being released gradually for the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (GT-I8160) via Samsung KIES or via OTA. No country knows what is available but, as usual, is expected in a few weeks to have support for all regions where the device is marketed.

Among the major developments that brings updating the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean we find the new version of the TouchWiz interface, Direct Call, Pop Up Play, Google Now, improvements in battery and camera, expandable notifications and overall better performance.

As for models of the carriers, is unknown at what date will the update, although it could be in a few months. Added to this, we remind you that the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 has confirmed the update to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which will be the last official this device will get.

Sure many of you are anxious for the release of a new Android phone completely based and designed for Facebook, and as silly as I think the idea is (sources claim that it is not about April fools day), now the speculations indicate the “Facebook Phone” will be presented on Thursday April 4 along with a launcher and unveiled their specifications.

According to an APK AndroidPolice site received, the Facebook Phone would be a device that would run with a modified version of Android in order to stay all day connected to Facebook. They dismantled step by step this APK and the assumed specs are:

Manufacturer: HTC

Model: MYSTUL (Myst_UL)

Carrier: AT&T

Platform: MSM8960 (Dual Core)

Ram: 1GB

Display: 4.3 inch @ 720p resolution

Android Version: 4.1.2

Sense Version: 4.5

Rear Camera = 5M

Front Camera = 1.6M

No SD Card

Bluetooth 4.0

Wi-Fi a/b/g/n

Rumors match regarding previous reports since spoke of the manufacturer HTC, Android version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and a dual-core processor at 1.5 GHz If so, would be in presence of a midrange Android sure to draw the price because does not provide too many attributes, if we add the low resolution of the display and the lack of support microSD then Facebook boys should make a financial effort to make this device a “phone tempting” to the user.

We found the biggest news in the software, and that despite having the interface HTC Sense 4.5, it has a Facebook application created for the phone because if we look at the names differ: the traditional now is com.facebook.katana while the new is com.facebook.wakizashi. This new Facebook application requests additional permissions such as start with phone boot, system settings, manage WiFi connections and which other applications run, these permissions would indicate a partial control of the device by this “core application”.

Added to the Facebook Phone seems that we will have a new launcher, four permits indicate that could read the Android launcher configuration, which would suggest that they intended to launch Facebook Home as an application on Google Play or even from the same page of Facebook. Without the Facebook application, Facebook Home fails.

Other smaller developments indicate a new set of icons to change the look of the interface device that looks similar to Facebook; despite having an agreement with Bing, Google would remain as default search engine. As for the messaging application not seen many changes from previous versions.

Undoubtedly this is a very important move for Facebook, undoubtedly the most important they’ve done in the mobile sector after buying Instagram. But I wonder what sense does launching a phone entirely based on their social network when they could spend that time and money on further improving its application. I do not think specs tempt many users except that we are facing a phone for under $ 200, otherwise I do not think that many opt for it.

We will monitor all developments arising on the issue, and on Thursday we will provide full coverage of the new and intriguing announce of Facebook.

Would you buy a phone from Facebook?

Kabam has just released the first official trailer for Fast and the Furious 6 which will arrive in May

February Rumors about a union between Kabam and NBC Universal for the next game of Fast and the Furious were true. While the film will arrive on May 26, 2013, the game will do in the same month but is presumed to do so a few days before the film hits theaters.

The developers of Kabam are known for their massive multiplayer games via PC browsers but have some Android titles as The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth and Arcane Empires. While there is little information about the game, it is known that will include some game modes including one known as “Heist Mode” in which players must complete different tasks in the shortest time possible.

As expected, the majority of game will be racing and drifting that will be through the streets of London while we complete different jobs and tasks. The fact that the developer of the title is Kabam suggests that Fast and the Furious 6 will feature some sort of multiplayer massive nature likely, although little is known about it.

Beyond rumors, Fast and the Furious 6 seems interesting for what can be seen in the trailer. All that is known is that it will be arriving in March 2013 and is expected to do so before the premiere of the film which will be the 26th. As you can see not much data on this, but will keep you informed of all the news.

The popular gamer benchmark for PC reaches Android

The developers of Futuremark 3D Mark just released for Android, something many gamers longed for some time as this benchmark is one of the most iconic and popular for PC´s.

With 3D Mark for Android we can perform two tests called Ice Storm and Ice Storm Extreme in which we can measure the performance of the GPU and processor of our device.

On the one hand we have Ice Storm which is designed to test phones and tablets that have OpenGL ES 2.0 while Ice Storm Extreme is designed for more powerful devices because it has a high resolution tests with more detailed textures and better graphics effects. Like other benchmarks, after completing tests we get in numbers our score and we can compare them to other devices.

3D Mark is currently available on Windows and Android and in the future will be too for Windows RT and iOS, so hopefully 3D Mark becomes a cross-platform benchmark, which currently does GeekBench. We may also choose which tests we want to perform.

No doubt that the arrival of 3D Mark is great news for gamers and hardware enthusiasts that now have a few benchmarks to compare the performance of their devices. Personally I’ve tried it and while my Samsung Galaxy S2 did not supported the tests in the best way I must say that its realization falls short of previous desktop deliveries.

3D Mark for Android is now available to download for free from Google Play and requires Android 3.1 or higher. The download weighs 283 MB and according to its developer has support for more than a thousand devices.

Since last month we have started to make a ranking of the best games released or updated during the month as we have been doing with the applications from last year.

The month of March has been pretty full of games and although we have great FPS deliveries we have seen the arrival of some interesting alternatives Shoot Many Robots and classics like Temple Run 2. Therefore today we bring to AndroidADN our selection of new releases and updates of Android games of the month.

Best Android Games 2013

Angry Birds: Star Wars

The latest installment of the Angry Birds franchise has just added a new chapter called Cloud City where we will find 20 new levels. Will find a new gas planet filled with floating cities where appears a new character named Boba Fett and some new physics due to the effects of the gas.

Boba Fett missions can be unlocked after finding the five thrusters that are hidden in the levels, using a promotion code or, paying EUR 0.89 through the app store.

Google PLAY : Cloud City

Shoot Many Robots

A new game has come to Google PLAY and it is Shoot Many Robots, a game that was already available on other consoles and is now available on the Android platform.

In Shoot Many Robots we must go as far as possible and eliminate as many robots we can, we’ll just jump, dodge obstacles and shoot. At each level we will go getting gear to level up and get new weapons and items to go farther and eliminate more robots. You can also get these improvements with real money within the application through micropayments.

Shoot Many Robots can be downloaded for free from Google Play and the version of Android required varies by model.

Google PLAY: Shoot Many Robots

The Croods

From the creators of Angry Birds, Rovio, comes a new title called “The Croods” which is based on the film created by DreamWorks Animation.

The Croods for Android recreates the characters from the movie and alongside them will discover the idea, a new tool with which you will have to get out of the stone age embarking on a journey through a path in which you should hunt and gather food to survive the wild environment.

Throughout the game you will have to catch and tame 10 creatures evolutionarily mixed as Girelephant or Molarbear, create absurd inventions with Grug to open and explore new areas and decorate your prehistoric world with the latest in fashion accessories for cavemen.

Google PLAY: The Croods

Temple Run 2

The famous Disney game was updated during the month of March and although didn´t incorporated great innovations it did corrected some application errors and added some interesting elements.

Basically it solved a series of fixes to improve stability and overall performance of the title, and perfected the system of power-ups to improve and maintain the powers and not resulting in errors.

Finally, another improvement of this update brought a reward system daily and weekly that will make the game more entertaining and dynamic.

Google PLAY: Temple Run 2

Mini Ninjas

It is rare to see a title from developers Square Enix that is not RPG, however this is the case of Mini Ninjas, a game in which you assume the role of Hiro and his friends, and we must go around collecting coins and gut our way in the name of the recovery of stolen artifacts.

On the way we will also be able to build Kuji energy and the power that is held by releasing trapped animals, destroying obstacles and basically everything you do in this game except for the collection of coins. We may also cast spells created as well as attacks against large enemies.

In total there are 4 hérores which you may use, each with its own style of combat, magic and special weapon. We may customize our ninja from his clothes, dresses and weapons. While the game is now available on Google Play still the ability to possess animals we have released is not enabled.

Earn to Die

Another zombie game comes to Google Play and it is Earn to Die, a title that besides playing galore the typical zombie apocalypse theme, we also drive and dismember the undead hordes through which we have to open road .

Earn to Die is a game with beautiful graphics and very addictive and frantic gameplay. We will not stop one second to shoot, hitting objects and dismembering zombies. The perspective is the classic 2D, and scenarios are well done too.

Earn to Die can be downloaded from Google Play at a price of one dollar, but if you are not sure to spend money you can try the Lite version which is also available but we can only play the first mission. Requires Android 2.1 or higher.

Angry Birds Rio

Angry Birds Rio received an update during the month of March, this is Market Mayhem which incorporates 36 new levels, new fruits to collect and more!

The new episode is set in a market with awnings and fruits. Marmosets are wreaking havoc in the market and our mission is to stop them.

The update includes 36 new levels (between standard and special) and 15 fruits you will use for unlocking new bonus levels.

Cut the Rope: Experiments

Cut the Rope: Experiments has been updated with the inclusion of a new character in the puzzles, ants. Now we must adapt our wit to pass the levels and bring the candy to the tender Om Nom.

Now, in Cut the Rope: Experiments we can use ants to drag the candy through different locations to reach Om Nom, but be careful because as we facilitate the transportation also can cause problems if we are not careful. A new form of play that definitely adds something interesting to the already popular title.

Gun Bros 2

There were two sequels that were released this month from developers Glu Mobile, and the first one has been Gun Bros 2, the second installment in the saga of longline action.

Gun Bros 2 is basically the same as its predecessor, at least in its gameplay. It remains a dual controller shooter full of enemies that you must eliminate with a large arsenal of weapons. The story is the same: keep defending the universe of TOOL, although this time we’ll have even more weapons, new Mods to improve them and the powerful and destructive Tank Commander.

The Gun Bros 2 graphics are well done and the gameplay reminds me of Zombiewood: isometric perspective and dual stick control, one for movement and the other to aim the gun.

Throughout Gun Bros 2 we must deal with powerful bosses as well as dangerous hordes of enemies. It has a multiplayer mode where you can play endlessly with your “bros” in real-time co-op multiplayer. If you played the first installment probably want to try the second, it is really fun and worth it.

Google PLAY: Gun Bros 2

Samuria vs Zombies Defense 2

The other sequel was released by Glu Mobile Samurai vs Zombies Defense 2, and as in the first delivery remains the same mechanics, the same perspective in 2D and now adds two new warriors: the deadliest assassin and loyal Ronin Kunoichi with armor. The mission is to defend your village from hordes of zombies and demons to recruit allies to the cause, raising defenses and recover sacred artifacts to stop them.

While the gameplay of Samurai vs Zombies Defense 2 is almost identical to the previous one, now there is a new variety of weapons and abilities at our disposal as well as more content and a magic upgrade for our warriors.

Google PLAY: Samurai vs Zombie Defense 2

Google has done an excellent job with the launch of Roboto, the default Android font and its update known as Roboto Slab. However in AndroidADN we are customization lovers, and we believe that there will always be users who want to add a personal touch to their devices so you may prefer some other fonts.

So today we bring you a tutorial where we explain step by step how to change the font on your Android, which can be tricky because Android does not offer a native form to change the font, but we are here to help you.

NON ROOT users

If you do not have root access, we will not have the possibility of replacing the font from the system files, but we can still change it using launchers or some specialized applications.

Change launcher

One way to change the font of our apps for users without root access is to install a new launcher, as some of them include a specific function for switching fonts or themes.

One of the most popular launchers that offer this feature is GO Launcher EX and although you can not change the font in the applications and Android system menus, it does in certain parts of the user interface.

After downloading and installing GO Launcher EX, to change the font of your Android you have to copy the font files into TTF format to the / sdcard / GOLauncherEx / fonts directory.

From the application GO Launcher EX have to go to the main Home screen, touch the Menu button or slide the screen up.

Click on the Settings button and enter Visual Settings and select fonts.

Click on the Scan button and select the font fonts you want to use.

iFont (for Samsung devices)

Another way to change the font of Android without root is iFont application that works only for Samsung devices, but may work on other devices rooted.

Then you have to press the Set button or go to Settings> Font Style> Display and select the font from the list.

ROOT users

Users with root access have things somewhat easier and can change the fonts of their devices with specialized applications or making changes directly to system files, but does not make sense because the latter is much more complicated.

Font Installer

Font Installer is one of the best applications to change the system font on devices with root access. This is a feature that allows you to preview the selected font as you move up or down the list of embedded fonts.

Facebook has begun sending invitations to the press for an event on April 4th in which will show their “new home on Android.” It is still unclear what what exactly is that tey´ll present but according to a recent report, what we will see is an HTC smartphone running a custom Android version.

There was talk of a Facebook Phone, a new application of a proprietary operating system … and it looks like we will see a bit of it. In an article published a few hours ago, the New York Times points out that on Thursday Facebook will present an HTC phone that will run a customized version of Android to deeply integrate the social network services. The famous newspaper reports that while there will be other announcements, the main novelty of the event will be this version of Facebook-centric Android to replace the traditional home screen with the main user of Facebook. In addition, the camera default applications and messaging apps will be replaced by themselves.

The report quotes a Facebook employee familiar with the company’s plans and indicates that this new Android version will be available from Facebook not only on the HTC phone which will be presented but also in other (which is still unknown). It is still unclear whether the new Facebook will be just like the classic Samsung interface TouchWiz or if it will something separate, similar to the the approach of Amazon Kindle Fire.

In less than a week we will learn about this new home of Facebook in Android. Long ago there has been talk of a Facebook Phone, but Mark Zuckerberg has denied on numerous occasions. However, it feels that the social network is looking for work outside the Android ecosystem which is controlled by Google.

Today in AndroidADN I bring you a comparative analysis between the new Samsung Galaxy S4 and other major devices of the market based on a series of benchmarks. The results are clear and show that currently, the Galaxy S4 is the best smartphone in the world.

All that Samsung Galaxy S smartphones range launched in the last three years have always had one thing in common: they have managed to beat all competitors in most benchmarks thanks to the efforts of the Korean company by developing better and more powerful chipsets every year. And the Galaxy S4 is no exception.

The new flagship of Samsung comes in two variants: one with the new processor Exynos 5 Octa of eight cores and another powered by a chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 at 1.9GHz and both have demonstrated excellent performance in all measurements and tests to which has been subjected.

In AndroidADN we have seen the performance comparison on a benchmark between the Galaxy S4 and HTC One but today I bring you a much more complete because will face the Galaxy S4 with some of the main devices in the most famous benchmarks: Geekbench, Quadrant and AnTuTu.

Geekbench

Geekbench is a cross-platform benchmark that measures CPU power and although each operating system has a lot of factors that modify their performance attributes, provides a good measure of the performance of the devices.

For these measurements, the variation of the Galaxy S4 with chip Snapdragon 600 comfortably defeated all devices: HTC One (integrates the same processor but slower clock speeds), Apple iPhone 5, BlackBerry Z10, Google Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3.

At the moment, the model with chip Exynos 5 Octa of the Galaxy S4 has not been tested in Geekbench so I have to wait to see the results, but is expected to have a similar performance or even higher than Snapdragon variant.

Galaxy S4 (Snapdragon)

3163

HTC One

2687

LG Nexus 4

2040

Galaxy S3 Exynos

1717

Apple iPhone 5

1569

BlackBerry Z10

1480

Quadrant

Quadrant is a benchmark only for Android which measures the performance of the devices in different categories: processor, graphics, speed input / output and mathematical calculations.

Here, the Galaxy S4 with processor Exynos 5 Octa scored 12,726, far above the Xperia Z, iPhone 5, LG Optimus G, Galaxy Note 2 among others. While also outperformed the HTC One, the difference was much better than the other smartphones (the One scored 11,746, while the third place was taken by the Xperia Z with 8075 points).

Galaxy S4 (Exynos)

12726

HTC One

11746

Sony Xperia Z

8075

HTC One X+

7632

LG Optimus G

7439

HTC One X

5952

Galaxy Note 2

5916

LG Nexus 4

4567

AnTuTu Benchmark

AnTuTu is another reference tool like Quadrant because tests the device in several areas including the processor, graphics card, RAM and performance of data transfer.

AnTuTu benchmark is where the variant Exynos of the Galaxy S4 really shined, scoring no more and no less than 27,417 points, up by nearly 1,500 points to the variant with processor Snapdragon and almost 5,000 to the HTC One, which placed second and third place respectively.

Currently, AnTuTu benchmark for Android is the most popular and a score as high as that obtained by the Galaxy S4 does nothing but impress.

<col width="122" />
<col width="64" />

Galaxy S4 (Exynos 5 Octa)

27417

Galaxy S4 (Snapdragon 600)

25900

HTC One

22678

Sony Xperia Z

20794

LG Nexus 4

19318

Galaxy S3

15547

HTC Butterfly

12631

So if we refer to the tests, we can say that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has proven to be the best smartphone in the world, at least in the benchmark tests. This is even more impressive when you consider that the Galaxy S4 that was used for the test was not running the latest version of Android, so we can expect results to further improve when tested with the latest version Jelly Bean 4.2. 2.

It should be noted that while the benchmarks give us an idea of the power and performance that can offer a phone, the performance in real life is what really matters to users.

Great news for the users of HTC One X! Official sources have confirmed that the formidable device will be updated to the latest version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will have its new interface Sense 5 recently released with the HTC One

According to sources, HTC wants the update to be available via OTA for next summer. Besides incorporating Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Sende 5 is expected to port some functionalities like BlinkFeed. Recall that the new interface Sense 5 allows us to interact in a different way with our device because it allows us to be constantly connected to our social networks and with a simple swipe from the home screen to access a news feed with all of our virtual environment.

Sense 5 and its new features like BlinkFeed were presented along with the launch of HTC One and I must say that both the device and the new interface features are the best of the Android world.

So now you know, great news for users of HTC One X. We will keep you informed of all developments arising on the issue.
