Content originally created at AndroidCritics.com. Find the best reviews, apps, and tutorials.

Samsung has released some staggering sales figures with the Galaxy S4 stating that it has surpassed the 10 million mark in global sales in less than a month after its commercial launch in New York City. The figure sets a new record for the Korean electronics giant. In comparison to its predeessors, the Galaxy S III needed 50 days to reach the same figure, while the S II took 5 months. Samsung also announced that they will be adding new colors to the Galaxy S4 lineup come this summer, with names like Brown Autumn and Purple Mirage. As with any statistics, it’s hard to gauge what angle these numbers are coming from. Last week Samsung Electronics co-CEO Shin Jong-kuyung estimated that the S4 would hit the 10 million mark this week. There is a lot of debate when it comes to putting numbers on smartphones shipped vs smartphones actually sold to the end consumer. Theoretically the shipped phones could be sitting on shelves and not actually in consumers hands. In comparison, Apple announced it had sold 5 million units of the iPhone 5 in its first weekend. They were referring to actual sales to end users. Regardless of the debatable figure, Samsung’s figure is still very impressive, and a sign of many great things to come for the Android’s largest OEM manufacturer. via The Verge

The post Samsung Galaxy S4 hits 10 million units shipped appeared first on Android Critics.

Jump Out is an android game that is very intuitive and is a relatively new game. Not only that, but you can tell that it is a very new and polished game.Jump Out features 140 levels of endless fun, and the main objective is to get the object to hit the target. In addition it has an angry birds feel to it, in which you have 3 tries to reach the main objective. Overall, Jump Out is a very good game and I can see it becoming very big in the future. It also has this addictive sense to it in which you are very competitive and you want to beat the game. All in all, this game is rated very high and I believe you will enjoy this game as much as I did.

Content originally created at AndroidCritics.com. Find the best reviews, apps, and tutorials.

Why You Should Not Buy The Galaxy S4 Google Edition Google recently announced the Galaxy S4 Google Edition at the Google I/O press conference. The device will run stock Android, seemingly with no modifications from Samsung. For all software purposes, this is a Nexus device, meaning that it will get prompt updates directly from Google, without the intervention of Samsung or carriers. This is great for Google as they are letting other companies develop their android devices. Although, you can simply root your Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 and run stock Android 4.2.2, which will be what the Google Edition S4 will be running. The Galaxy S4 will be sold through the Play Store starting on June 26th, and will ship with an unlocked bootloader, and 16 GB of internal storage. This can also cause some issues as Google had a major dibocle with the launch of the Nexus 4. Also, with the Galaxy S4 Google Edition, you will not have any of the Samsung features such as smart stay, air gesture, air view and more. Overall, this is a great opportunity for Google, although it may not appeal to everybody. This is mostly for the people who love the quality of Samsung products and the hardware, screen, etc. but don’t want TouchWiz on it, they want the Nexus feel to it and the quick updates directly from Google.

The post Why You Should Not Buy The Galaxy S4 Google Edition appeared first on Android Critics.

Overall, this is a great opportunity for Google, although it may not appeal to everybody. This is mostly for the people who love the quality of Samsung products and the hardware, screen, etc. but don’t want TouchWiz on it, they want the Nexus feel to it and the quick updates directly from Google.

It will be selling directly through Google Play and it will enjoy timely Android updates just like all Nexus devices. Best of all, it will have an unlocked bootloader for that extra flexibility. This Google edition of the Galaxy S4 will be selling in the US starting from June 26 without a contract and with no carrier subsidy. The retail price will be $649 and it will work on both the AT&T and T-Mobile US networks (LTE included). So far we don’t know whether there are some changes in specs. We suppose that at least the proprietary “smart” software features designed by Samsung will be gone along with TouchWiz. For now we’ve been able to only confirm the 16GB of built-in storage along with a microSD slot to expand those.

The post Galaxy S4 Google Edition Is Official,Releasing On June 26 With Stock Android appeared first on Android Critics.

Content originally created at AndroidCritics.com. Find the best reviews, apps, and tutorials.

Google Play Game Services For Android Brings Cross Platform Multiplayer, Achievements, Leaderboards Google has launched its rumored Google Play Game Services, which will finally give the Android platform a Game Center-esque experience for those looking to enjoy multiplayer competition on some of their favorite titles. Then again, if the demonstration of the multiplayer feature in action today (note: it didn’t connect) is anything to go by, Android users will be hoping the hit-and-miss demonstration of the service is not representative of the eventual experiences. It has long since been speculated that Google would bring Game Center-like functionality to Android, with reports dating back well over a year ago. But only in the run-up to this year’s I/O did the rumor mill really gain traction, and although it does appear to be an unpolished gem on the count of the botched demo, at least avid gamers will soon have an interface through which they can nurture their skills. Google officially announced the new Play Game Services API, and not only will it cover titles across the Android platform, but also those on other platforms. As you’d expect, there’s the usual dose of leaderboards and achievements, and with the latter including an integrated ‘cloud saves’ feature spanning Android, iOS (iPhone and iPad) and desktop / web browsers, it’s an exciting implementation indeed. And yes, it uses Google+ to find your friends, so you better start using the social network more often if you want to take full advantage of this service. The cross-platform cloud saves support means, for example, that one could potentially enjoy a game of Angry Birds on an Android tablet, continue on an iPhone, and finish the day’s play from within a desktop browser. Patently, there is some fine tuning to be done, but as a recent Android adopter of a predominantly iOS background, I am pleased to see the wheels in motion.

The post Google Play Game Services For Android Brings Cross Platform Multiplayer, Achievements, Leaderboards appeared first on Android Critics.

Content originally created at AndroidCritics.com. Find the best reviews, apps, and tutorials.

AudioZest 3D Music Player App Review Like most of the usual android music player app, this one offers sorting the existing songs by genre, album, artists, playlist, playback and songs. When you start the app, on the right top corner you will notice that you can turn on or turn off the equalizer, and here is the key feature of the app, you can use the previously saved equalizer configurations or start customize by yourself. Configuring by yourself will lead to match your taste in any sense, you can increase the bass if you want to ‘feel’ it much more, or you can increase the treble if you want your music to be louder. AudioZest is simply the best music player that I have ever used for many reasons. It is mostly because of how it integrates the 3D music player in the most seamless way possible. In addition, it allows you to balance the equalizer for the audiophiles out there. Having this app on your android device will be a huge plus. You can discover new fields in the sound world with the equalizer and the 3D feature. The app is around 3.5MB size, which shouldn’t be a problem, it is rated for everyone and it requires android 3.0 and up, you can find it under the Music & Audio category on Google Play with a price of $4.99.
Like most of the usual android music player app, this one offers sorting the existing songs by genre, album, artists, playlist, playback and songs.

Content originally created at AndroidCritics.com. Find the best reviews, apps, and tutorials.

Google Play Games leaks Before I/O, Brings Cloud Saves, Matchmaking, and Leaderboards Along with things like a unified messaging platform and an upgraded Nexus 7, Google has been rumored to be bringing a gaming service to Android with Android 4.3 similar to iOS’ Game Center or Windows Phone’s XBox Live, and now an updated Google Play Services app that is slowly streaming to Android devices has spilled out a slew of information regarding Google Play Games. The folks over at Android Police ripped open the APK file of the new Services app and were able to access things like the settings page for Play Games, all but confirming it is real and exists. Play Games is what the app will be called, and the files and code found inside the APK point at features like cloud-based saves for games, multiplayer matchmaking, player invitations, achievements and global leaderboards. The most needed feature everyone’s been asking for is syncing of saved games, and evidence of its existence has been found in the APK, though it’s currently not working. Actually, nothing but the ability to switch your Google account is working in the Play Games app at this point, but that isn’t surprising considering the service is yet to be made official and will probably take a few more weeks to be activated. It was only yesterday that I was checking I/O’s sessions list in the companion app and pondering over how Google has many gaming-related sessions planned, and now the leak of Play Games means Google is going to be making gaming an important part of its developer conference this year. There’s even a session by Epic Games, a company that has stayed away from Android in the past while making awesome games like Infinity Blade for iOS, so it looks like gaming on Android is going to take a huge turn this year. Fingers crossed.

The post Google Play Games leaks Before I/O, Brings Cloud Saves, Matchmaking, and Leaderboards appeared first on Android Critics.

Content originally created at AndroidCritics.com. Find the best reviews, apps, and tutorials.

Nexus 7 To Have Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 1080p display and Android 4.3 Google is expected to unveil a new improved Nexus 7 at its I/O event, and KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has let out some potential specs of the second-generation Nexus 7 in a research note, just a few days before I/O starts. According to Kuo, the 7-inch display will be upgraded to a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, and a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor (APQ8064) will replace the Tegra 3 chipset in the current Nexus 7, which is in line with what a previous report suggested. The tablet will be manufactured by ASUS again, and Google is aiming for the same $199 price yet again for the base model, losing from $5 to $10 with each device. Other specs that Kuo mentions include a 5-megapixel rear camera, HD front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity, and run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is almost confirmed to be the next version of Android. Interestingly, the 4,000mAh battery on the device supports Qi wireless charging, similar to the Nexus 4. While all of this might turn out to be true, it’s still best to take everything with a pinch of salt. After all, it’s not long before we get to see what Google pulls out of its magic hat at I/O, so it’s better to contain our excitement just a bit longer, instead of jumping to conclusions based on a report that could, at best, be speculative guessing.
