Google releases Samsung Galaxy Nexus accessories to the Play Store

Unless you have been living under a rock lately, then you should be fully aware that Google recently added the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to the Play Store for purchase. Yes, the unlocked GSM model of the Nexus is available directly from Google for only $399.00. Not a bad price considering we have seen unlocked devices hitting $700 and $800. We personally didn’t notice the new tab on the left hand side of the online Play Store that says “Devices” until about a week ago. We are willing to bet that fills up shortly when the Nexus tablet and other manufacturer Nexus devices become available.

You aren’t hear to talk about the Gnex though. You are here because the title stated accessories are now being sold in the Play Store. They are, not that you would have noticed them unless you clicked through to devices though. As of right now you can order yourself a vehicle dock, HDMI Portrait desktop dock or desktop dock with pogo pin. Whats even better, these are the official ones from Samsung and cost much less. For instance, the Pogo dock is $89.99 from Samsung while through Google Play, it’s only $54.

Canadian Galaxy S III confirmed with 2GB of RAM, could this ring true in the States

A rumor was floating around that Samsung was going to up the RAM in the Galaxy S III for those locations that couldn’t use the quad-core Exynos chipset yet. Japan was first on the list in that rumor. We had hoped that it would pan out and give the LTE users something a little bit different in a good way. After all, we know they were coming with Qualcomm S4 processors so LTE would actually work. Now that the official press release has been… released, we see that the S4 in the north is set to 1.5GHz and it will also come rocking 2GB of RAM. Now we know it is possible and very plausible for the U.S. and Japanese versions to have the same added RAM.

While I know many of you really wanted to see that quad-core Exynos, we all knew in our hearts that it wouldn’t be happening with the S III. Does the extra RAM fill that gap for bragging rights in your book? Check out the full press release below -

Filpboard Beta available to all who wish to try It

You may or may not have already given Flipboard a try yet. The app was leaked out a little while ago from the Galax S III and made its rounds to various websites and forums. In a nut shell it is a magazine style news and RSS reader. It is pretty and different. Some loved it and some hated it. No matter which way you leaned, many of you never stop to think that the app was pulled from a completely different device and that it might just not be ready for us to toy with on other devices. That never seems to stop us though.

Flipboard has since seen how fast their application cruised around the web and thought they better get on the ball. Rather than being upset about the whole ordeal, they went ahead and made the application a public beta for anyone to test out. By launching a public beta they have the opportunity to get real feedback from users from all over the globe and with various devices. This gives them a chance to start making the application better for everyone. T-Mobile HTC One S getting minor OTA tomorrow, squashing some silly Issues

Those of you that have run out and picked up an HTC One S on T-Mobile‘s network, can expect a nice little (24.2MB) OTA hitting your device tomorrow. The update is rather small but does address a few minor, yet rather annoying, issues the device has been facing. The usual requirements of 50% or more battery life after download to install and being sure you are still stock and not rooted with a custom ROM installed. We find it pretty funny that they actually mention that in the prerequisites. Check out the full change log below.

Canada confirmed for Samsung Galaxy S III launch June 20th

We have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of Samsung Galaxy S III announcements rolling our way over the next few days. Today we catch wind of Canadian carriers posting up some news and new information about launch dates. Rogers has just added a nice little countdown timer that reflects when pre-orders for the device should go live and Videotron put a nice little banner with June 20th listed.

If the 20th is the launch date for some in Canada, then the leaked date for the T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy S III is starting to sound great. With Samsung telling the world not to long ago that the U.S. variants would be available in June – July, we can hardly sit still waiting for them to make the news official. Any of our frozen north companions counting down the days yet?

Samsung releases official ICS firmware for Galaxy S III and Galaxy S II

We are sure that many of you remember the leaked firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S III that landed just last weekend. It produced live wallpapers, static wallpapers and S-Voice, just to name a few things. Of course developers were hard at work picking it apart and pulling features and applications to other devices, mainly the Galaxy S II. It now looks like Samsung has opened up the flood gates and made the official firmware for the Galaxy S III, well, official. It is important to know that the SGSIII leaked version and the released version are in fact different. The leaked version was I9300XXALE8 and the officially released version is I9300XXALE9.

Update support page shows up for Verizon Galaxy Nexus, for real this Time

When people buy a Nexus device they expect a few things in return. For one, they expect timely updates to the latest released version of Android from Google. The trouble with that assumption is when a carrier gets mixed up in the middle of things. In this case, Verizon and the ever popular CDMA version of the Galaxy Nexus. Just the other day we heard of an update supposedly on the way, but personally I hate update rumors. I prefer hard facts, like it actually landing or the carrier pushing out a supporting document to back it up. That is what we now have. While we don’t have a date for the update to be unleashed on big red, it is at least officially on its way. They tend to push these things out shortly after the release of the documentation. You might even see it as early as tonight or tomorrow morning.

What is this update we speak of? Well it will be labeled as IMM76K, pretty catchy isn’t it? It will finally mover your CDMA Galaxy Nexus up to Android 4.0.4, just like the GSM version is running right now. It will fix many silly issues that some of you loyal nexus and Verizon customers have been experiencing. Such as preventing the display from freezing up, make calls without choppy audio and successfully access you voicemail without errors. At least they are saying they have fixed those issue. We will see what new issues arise after the update. Check out the other additions to the update below.

Google ASUS Nexus 7 Tablet Benchmark Outed. Jelly Bean might be Android 4.1

More and more details keep on emerging about the new Google Nexus Tablets coming out, and this one is pretty big. Seems that a benchmark result for a device named as the “Google ASUS Nexus 7″ has leaked out showing some pretty promising results. Big deal, right? A benchmark is hardly anything to get really excited about. We already knew it was going to be rocking a quad-core processor making the tablet experience all that we want it to be. more to it though of course.

The boys over at Android Police have done some digging and found out that this device is codenamed “grouper”. Google loves to codename their devices with fish names, but the big question mark is that the Nexus 7 seems to be running Android 4.1 that is labeled as JRN51B. Many are speculating that this very well could be Jelly Bean, even though we all figured it to be Android 5.0. Guess we will have to wait until Google I/O next month where this tablet will be revealed. What do you guys think? This getting you any more excited about the new Google tablets?
