On the left hand menu at the bottom look for the “Documentation” section. Each reference page gives you a drop down list which then takes you off to the details page about that tag/function. What I find handy is that its good way to quickly refresh yourself with some functionality that you hardly use or even to find ones you didn’t know existed like CFForward

When it comes to getting rid of the amazing amount of whitespace CF can generate in your page there are quite for tricks to getting around this from multiple tags to server filters that you can use.

With Railo its a little more simplier. Log in to your admin panel, go to “Output” in the left hand side and check “Whitespace management: Removes all white spaces in the output that follow a white space”.

Bug description:

Running standalone CF Builder on OS X 10.6.1.After a short time, the whole system slows down, especially when switching between applications (I have 10GB RAM).Activity Monitor shows that the WindowServer process is fluctuating wildly, often right up to 100% CPU.Quitting CF Builder stops the process misbehaving, and computer performance returns to normal.

My directories went like this

/parent
/parent/subfolder1/file.1
/parent/subfolder1/file.2
/parent/subfolder1/file.3
/parent/subfolder2/file.1
/parent/subfolder2/file.2
and so on …. in reality each subfolder had 20 files in it.

So to copy the files out was easy:

cp -r ./* ../

Swap the cp for mv to move them

The fix is simple.

$git repack remote/origin/master

After a quick mention on twitter I found out @sebduggan was also having the same issue.

For the record I have gotten around the issue by installing CFBuilder as a Pluggin to a fresh copy of Eclipse

I was catching up on an old CFHour() podcast while driving on my commute to the office and back today when one of the Q&A sessions asked whether a ColdFusion’er should blog (they should!). It did make me think about myself and why I don’t blog as much recently.

I’ve been blogging in some form or another for some years now but over the last couple of years my posts have dwindled. Not because I have lost interest, since Railo went open source I now host my own server, but because I’ve been busy with my main work either doing development which is trivial or stuff that’s has been blogged about elsewhere. That is not to say I don’t come across new issues & fixes but when I do I’m on Twitter talking about them nowadays.

I do plan to pick up the blogging as I have quite a few little sidelines projects which I hope to bring up at some point but till then make sure follow me at www.twitter.com/andyj

ColdFusion 9 has made it out of the labs in to the wild, while CFBuilder has made it to beta 2. Get ‘em while they’re hot!
