In the last post I hinted at something new. Ī Dü Creative Group is a new Fort Wayne-based business that unites the talents of area photographers, HD videographers, graphic artists and production specialists to provide creative multimedia-related services for weddings throughout the Midwest and beyond. While I have certainly enjoyed my career as a freelance, independent photographer, it has been a dream of mine for years to be a part of something larger. The mission of Ī Dü will be to provide shared resources that will allow creative people to do what they do best — create! Be it photography, HD video, wedding album design and production, DVD/Blu-Ray presentaions — Ī Dü wants to be the connection between artists and couples.

How does this affect you? If I am scheduled to be your photographer, or if I have photographed your event in the past, it will only mean that you may see a new logo and look in our correspondence (the “View Your Photos” link on this site is an example). My current email, phone and shipping address will stay active, and this website will continue to exist. For the time being much of the content here will be duplicated on our new website, www.iduweddings.com as well, along with contributions from other group members. At some point in the future this site might become dedicated to my non-wedding endeavors, while my wedding work will displayed exclusively on the Ī Dü site.

If you came by this site looking for a photographer for a future event, let me encourage you to visit the new site.  It is still under construction at the moment, but there you will be able to view my portfolio and recent work, as well as that of other Ī Dü artists.  All future weddings will be scheduled exclusively through Ī Dü Creative Group, and information regarding coverage options and prices are available by filling out the contact form on the site, or emailing info@iduweddings.com.

This is a very exciting announcement for me.  Stay tuned for more Ī Dü news!

I also shot some DSLR [...]]]> Finally getting caught up on blog entries! Meghan and Bill were married at New Haven United Methodist Church and celebrated at the Fort Wayne Country Club.  Flowers by Lillian Rose, hair and makeup by 5 Elements, programs by the Monogram Shoppe, music by Paradise, Inc..  Photos by Kim Hartman and myself.

I also shot some DSLR video with Mark Lahey and Mark Lee, as part of our new venture, Ī Dü Creative Group. I will be announcing more news soon, but in short we are forming a cooperative group of artists to provide photography, HD videography, graphic design and production services specifically for weddings. I am very excited about working with this team!  Here is our video from Meghan and Bill’s wedding:

They held both their ceremony and their recpeption at the historic Embassy Theater in downtown Ft. Wayne. Their reheasral dinner was around the corner at Pint and Slice. What a fun weekend!

“(T)he photographer [...]]]> Britian’s Jeff Ascough is perhaps my favorite contemporary wedding photographer, because he does such a wonderful job of bringing the aesthetic and tradition of classic photojournalism to the wedding event without compromising either. His response in praise of a recent British TV program featuring the work and words of Helmut Newton strikes a chord:

“(T)he photographer who tries to direct the photograph is often producing something that isn’t ‘true’.”

I am most often moved by images that say more about the subject and the moment than they do about the photographer and his or her technique. Don’t get me wrong, technique needs to be a given (even in this day of auto-everything cameras), but after employing all the cool ways to make creative images at wedding, it would be a shame if you learned more about photography (and Photoshop!) by looking through a wedding album than you did about the bride and groom and their wedding.  A photographer is a messenger, but it is the message that is important. Thank you, Mr. Ascough, for the reminder!
