For players who have completed all the levels in the original version and the two spin-offs and have been waiting for something new, we have some good news for you. Proving that the game has nowhere to continue to go but up, Rovio will release Angry Birds Space on March 22^nd. A 20-second teaser video was also unveiled (see below). The company has not yet announced what platforms the game will be available on.

The company says the release will be a “completely new game with innovative new gameplay, but with some of the familiar Angry Birds elements that fans already know and love.” The new game is expected to have new outer-space related features, like differences in gravity and slow-motion play.

The makers are planning a large release with none other than NASA and National Geographic rumored to be launch partners. Stay tuned.

Rovio will follow the successful model that Zynga has created, and the new version of Angry Birds will have many similarities to existing Facebook games. The new version will emphasize the social aspect of the game, allowing players to compete with their friends, post and boast about their scores and gift each other power-ups.  Like other games, players will be allowed the option to purchase additional boosts during their game play.

There will be launch activities in Bangkok, Jakarta and Mumbai to celebrate the release on February 14, as Rovio tries to expand their global reach.

So the next time someone tells you that you are wasting your time playing Angry Birds, show them this article and tell them you are busy keeping your brain healthy!

Many of these banners are deceitful, others are complete scams. There have been reports of some banners very innocently enticing users to unwittingly download programs that make their phones subscribe to expensive premium monthly SMS subscriptions. Be very careful what you click on when you play.

Judging from the video below, it looks like the birds and pigs have become super deformed.  I really like the new look of the characters and the animated backgrounds.

Judging from the last sentence, we are in store for some group/social play on Facebook!  The social features coupled with the huge Facebook user base, may make this one of the most important releases of Angry Birds to date.
