RIP Bobby Hebb: Music Legend Passes Away

I am proud to say that Bobby Hebb was a friend of mine and saddened when I heard that he recently died. Bobby was one of the nicest and certainly one of the sharpest men I've ever known. I met him as a teenager, he lived above the cafe I worked at and over the years we had some great conversations about music, life, women, all with some the best home-spun charm you've ever heard.

I'll never forget my 21st birthday - Bobby comes bouncing down his stairs picking on a very nice Fender acoustic guitar. He says to me: "Let's hear it" as he hands me the guitar. I play a bit and told him how sweet a guitar it was, and if I could borrow it sometime. Bobby replies: "borrow? man, that's your guitar, happy birthday!"

Bobby...thank you for times I'll never forget!

The hounds are on the trail of Lance Armstrong's life lying and doping. All I can say is: Hahahahaha! Fuck that lying one-balled piece of sanctamonious shit. And fuck all his followers who wear those stupid yellow bracelets!

As the sports world reveals more and more how rampant Performance Enhancing Drugs are, the less I care. If that is what sports have become, then so be it. However what I can't stand is the lying and the holier-than-thou attitude of guys like Lance Armstrong.

I can't stand his whole Live Strong gimmick and especially the wanna-be's who latch on to anything he says. I especially hate all those spandex wearing Lance worshipers who clog my streets on sunny days. What happened to riding your ten speed while wearing cut off jean shorts (jorts)? Why does everyone who rides a bike now has to dress like they are participating in the two-man luge?

I love to see guys like this fall - the ones who hold themselves up as a shining example of humanity but in reality are just assholes like the rest of us. Your days in the sun are numbered yellow-boy!

Fed Will Finally Investigate Gulf Oil Spill

It's about fucking time! It is disgusting how the government has been dragging its heels about the gulf oil spill. Meanwhile that same organization that is supposes to oversee these offshore rigs (NOAA)has been virtually invisible during all this. Of course, NOAA chief Jane Lubchenco is too busy pushing her agenda of 'Agribusiness of the seas' and wiping out the family fisherman.

A New England fisherman can loose his entire livlihood for a single fish over quota. These assholes at BP/Haliburton have potentially ruined the Gulf for decades and NOW they are looking into criminal charges? Fishermen from Gloucester can be boarded at any time by NOAA agents weilding M4s to check for fishing violations...Where is that level of scrutiny for the oil rigs?

It's sickening and I'm fucking pissed. There is corruption on every single level and nobody cares so long as it does not affect them. There was a time...long ago when Americans cared for the greater good.

Those days are gone and will never come back. It's not immigrants, terrorists, liberals, conservatives etc that are the problem...THE PROBLEM IS WITH ALL OF US - LOOK NO FURTHER THAN YOUR OWN COUCH - WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?

She is a control-freak, especially when it come to spin. Not only does this charade get her future son-in-law to toe the line (and on the company payroll), it also ties up a 'free-radical' that could have hurt her presidential hopes.

Think about it: Kind of hard to get your core voters to believe in you when you spout traditional conservative values - but have an unwed daughter with a child. Now, right before the November elections (where the GOP plans to take back the house) the Palins have sewn up their loose ends and can now start an all-out campaign blitz.

Oil Spill: NOAA Well Aware of Illegal Drilling

Reports show NOAA knew Gulf of Mexico drilling operations were illegal

Read the news article listed above and then tell me NOAA does NOT have a double standard. NOAA requests permits for such drilling as the BP rig that is now dumping who knows how much oil into the Gulf of Mexico. BP and other rig operators were doing this with little more than a wink from the commerce dept. NOAA knew these firms did not have the proper authority to drill and still let them.

Now compare that to all I've been telling you guys about how NOAA is treating fishermen. With catch shares in place, NOAA will shut down the enitre New England fishery once certain 'choke species' reach their limit - which could happen within one month or less from now. Fishermen who violate laws, such as discarding legal size fish will be hit with fines that put them out of business.

But what does the same government organization do when an oil giant drills without permission, and the illegal well pollutes American waters? Nothing! In fact they do less than nothing! You have heard me rant about NOAA chief Jane Lubchenco on fishing - has any of my readers heard a peep out of her or NOAA about the actual oil spill? Where are the investigations and SWAT tactics. I've seen more government agents board fishing boats at port than they have investigating the spill and its cleanup.

Seems like NOAA has no problem picking on the little guys, but knows better than to bite the hand that feeds (funds) them. You and I both know said hand is covered in crude oil.

Fishermen Fight NOAA's Eminent Domain of Fish Stocks

They admit to using flawed science to come up with biomass/stock assesments. They admit to using inaccurate catch data to allocate fish quotas for the remaining fleet. Yet NOAA did nothing to change the timetable for their implementation of the catch share system here in the Northeast fishery. What these measures have done is to finally galvanize the entire fishing fleet (excluding the recreational 'fishermen' and the poorly named Cape Cod Hookers) into a cohesive force that will now take NOAA to court.

The approach was modeled by the Cape Cod fishermen, but they fished primarily for a single species, cod, whereas the system rolled out for New England 10 days ago covers the 19 stocks in the groundfish complex.

The use of 10-year catch histories for the bulk of the commercial fleet meant inevitably that one or multiple species would have little history, and thus put the boat at risk of overfishing quickly. Also, the hard catch limits came with deterrence, and no allowance for bycatch — fish that are accidentally hauled up in the nets of fishermen who are seeking other species.

So the oil spill is Obama's Katrina? Last I checked nobody on the mainland has died from the oil, nobody is homeless and living in a FEMA trailer from the oil. Also this is still happening - Katrina was a one time event that was over in a day or two, the problem with Katrina was the aftermath - which by the way is still an issue for some.

Although you all know how I feel about what the oil will do to the local fishing industry and the larger economy, I see no conspiracy like the one Mr. Browne claims. I see Obama being bought by Big Oil and then getting bitten in the ass by his change of mind.

However, it does make you wonder why the survivors that worked on the rig are not being plastered all over the cable news shows....What are they not telling us?

So far I see the spill as a spill - no need to plan it, they happen enough on their own. It is what happens after they cap this leak that makes me think of some sort of cover-up.

I feel like BP and the US government are dragging their heels when it comes to cleaning up the Gulf oil spill. And it makes me wonder if it is in their best interests to let the oil hit the shore, declare it all an enviro disaster, and then the Powers the Be can start taking over.

Up here in New England the regulations are killing the fishermen, but in the Gulf states, this oil spill may do the job faster. Just think, on the advise of one of the enviro groups, NOAA could put in a complete fishing moratorium while the oil is cleaned up. What if the moratorium lasts a few years? Who will be left to fish?

Conspiracy? Not when NOAA is so blatant in wanting fishermen out of business. Trust me NOAA and Jane Lubchenco would kill for an oil spill in New England - they then could stop all fishing until there is nobody left to challenge them.

Don't be surprise if the catch share system arrives in wake of this oil spill. That is, if is not implemented already.

Ah drill baby drill - remember when we all laughed at Sarah Palin when that was her response to America's energy woes? Remember when Obama was against 'drill baby drill'? Remember when Obama forgot that he was against it and began a new drilling program? Well all that political rhetoric actually came true - we now have that big pollution problem they were worried about. So now all the pseudo-green people are going to rally for the cause of the sea turtles.

Umm, do you Greenpeace, Sierra Club, EDF, and PEW cronies understand who funds your causes? The same people who cause these problems, companies like BP. Remember when BP was trying convice us that they were 'beyond petroleum'? The sea turtles is just the soft and fuzzy part of this story - which they hope will stop you from thinking about some real issues.

And what about the local fishing industry? BP will pay for the clean up with a bunch of hippies wiping off rocks and marsh with paper towels, but what about those who depend upon clean water to make a living? You all already know I think they are trying to wipe out the family fisherman. So what will happen to them in the aftermath of this spill. Once it's cleaned up, the eco-terrorists have even more say in how the area will be managed.

Just last week fishermen in Alabama were threatened with arrest if they tried to even ask questions about the spill at a local town meeting. Keep your eye out for this stuff - nothing clears the playing field like an environmental disaster.

Talk about throwing stones in glass houses - Viacom is guilty of doing exactly what they accused YouTube of doing: Stealing copy protected work. I know this video is long but the guy from Jeepers Media gives ample evidence of this multi-billion dollar corporation stealing content.

Not only do they steal the content, they change the titles, embed all sorts of advertisements and in some cases even use a YouTube player! So much for them taking the high road - a very powerful company with a team of lawyers is guilty of the same thing they attacked YouTube video makers of doing.

But yet we still hinder our large corporations with too much regulation (sarcasm)...

How quick we are to forget about how crooked Goldman Sachs is. Don't you remember the trouble they got into a few years back? So why is everyone shocked when they lined themselves up to make some money on those "Toxic Assets" leftover from the housing collapse?

I've never trusted Goldman, I knew things were not on the up and up for years. How did I know? A friend of mine was a VP during their last controversy and nothing changed then...so why would I be shocked now?

And now the internal emails are being leaked - it shows the insiders knew they were building upon a house of cards. What do they care? These masters of the finance universe are virtually untouchable. Fines? They've made millions, they can pay off fines. Job loss? Big deal, these guys change teams every couple of years anyway. Jail time? Not likely for most with the high priced lawyers and I would hardly call ClubFed, jail anyway.

For over 400 years the fishermen of Gloucester have kept on fishing. Sail was replaced by diesel, hooks replaced with nets, but the men of Gloucester still plied the world's most dangerous job right up until today. Even the dark days of the 1980's when the fish were gone did not end the industry. But today, with most local fish stocks rebuilt to unprescedented levels, it is now the regulators, the bureaucrats, enviromental fronts, and eventually Wall Street that will kill America's oldest port.

Scientist decries catch shares decision

I know I've been on this for a while but think about it: Organizations like NOAA, NMFS, PEW and other Government or environmental groups are implementing a plan that has nothing to do with sustainability. Right now the remaining individual fishermen in New England cannot even catch the ammount of fish NMFS allows them. They are not overfishing, they are underfishing meanwhile low daily catch quotas for cod ensure that hundreds of pounds often get thrown back dead. And then there are days at sea rules - could you make a living working 60 days a year?

Well May 1st begins the change to catch shares, which means that our rebuilt stocks are open to the highest bidder. How does a fishing family compete against a multi-national when it comes to buying the right to fish? There are no more 'free' fish - every single commercial fish in American waters will be considered a commodity.

In the late 1970's the huge foreign factory trawlers were finally kicked off of our local grounds. They were the main culprits in the stock collapses and we have made huge strides in correcting this. But with Jane Lubchenco's go-ahead with catch shares, what is stopping a company like Nippon Suisan Kaisha, the Japanese concern that owns Gortons, from creating a monster fleet of factory trawlers to suck Georges Bank dry once again? What if Tyson Chicken wants to get back into fishing?

The answer...nothing.

Earth Day Is Coming: Where Is All The Hype?

The last few years has seen Earth Day here in the US become a media blowout. A week-long guilt trip for running your faucet and not recycling brought to you by multi-national corporatons like GE. You know, the companies responsible for polluting our world on an industrial scale want you to feel bad about not using reuseable grocery bags.

Well this year I noticed that the outcry is not as loud for some reason. I mean, tomorrow is Earth Day and I haven't noticed being bludgeoned by the Green Folk. Ironic that I'm noticing this at a time when the Enviro-terrorists, in cahoots with NOAA and the National Marine Fisheries Service are backtracking due to obvious corruption and persecution of our nation's fishermen.

I think PEW, the EDF and all their lackeys are too busy with damage controll and the implementation of the catch-share system (you've heard me rant on this yesterday) to really focus on the earthy-crunch stuff.

Don't get me wrong, tomorrow the world will take time out to respect the Earth, but it looks like it's back to Earth Day and not Earth Week.

Remember last year when NBC's Today Show flew all their hosts across the globe? Maybe that didn't have the desired effect or the fact that having a studio turn off a few lights does not mean a thing.

And of course having a huge volcano spewing ash greenhouse gasses all over European airspace does make you realize just how much bullshit is behind concepts like a 'carbon footprint'. Has anyone asked that volcano in Iceland if it has bought enough carbon credits?

The reason I see nothing happening is the fact that right at the same time, Goldman Sachs is going to get off scott free from fucking over their customers. Wall Street and Washington don't care as long as money is being made and party contributions come in.

If you ever wondered just how uptight the American public is, watch this video. This guy was arrested by cops with guns drawn because a woman saw him naked through the window of his house. It took a jury trial to prove his innocence.

Now I admit pouring a cup of hot coffee while naked is not the brightest thing to do, but an arrestible offence? I'm glad the jury held up our right to privacy. The guys not a creep, he didn't intend to have sausages displayed in the window.

My favorite part - the lady who called the cops gave him the finger while shielding her son from seeing something he already posseses...a dick.

I get alot of questions about what is actually happening to the fishermen in my area and if the long held belief that the fish are gone is true. By all accounts the general public believe that we are overfishing even today and that the men are struggling due to a lack of fish.

That is not why the New England fishermen are having a hard time surviving - learn the truth by the men who have had to deal with bad science and draconian enforcement measures.

And learn what is planned for the future of New England fisheries...catch shares.

The sacrifices these guys made to stay in the business will be rewarded by giving every commerical fish in the ocean to the highest bidder. Pretty soon the same guys that fucked our economy with bad housing loans and derivitives on Wall Street will be able to buy up entire fish quotas just like pork bellies or frozen orange juice. According to NOAA/NMFS there will be no wild fish, just wild commodities.

GloucesterTimes.com: NOAA Admits to Faulty Skate Data

If you read or watch the national media, the discovery channel or PBS, or if you visit a major aquarium, you are forgiven if you have a skewed view of the state of the oceans. NOAA is finally admitting that the peer-reviewed scare tactics that have been published in the last 10-15 years have used bad science. They scared all of us a few years back claiming jellyfish will rule the seas in a few decades. I seen this report regurgitated just this week online, even though the writers of the report are now distancing themselves from their ludicrous findings.

Problem is this bad science is still being touted, even though NOAA is finding no evidence of the claims made by groups like the Environmental Defence Fund. The latest is for the Barndoor Skate, a commercially viable species found in the North Atlantic that some pseudoenviromentalists tried to list as an endagered species. Problem was they didn't have enough data on this species to make a declaration. What did they do? They used data from another skate species. Is it me or is that an attempt to find data that matches you conclusions? How the hell is that science?

These guys play games with the numbers - they tell the public that there are no codfish or Atlantic wolffish (catfish) based upon landings data. Well of course codfish landings will be down if you force fishermen into a low daily quota. It has nothing to do with how many they actually catch, it just how many they are allowed to bring in. And the wolffish? Once again claiming it is near endagered status based on the landings - except the landings are down because the area where they used to be caught is closed to fishing.

Our little part of the ocean is a success story, which is bad for the regulatory business. NOAA and the environmentals treat the entire ocean as a whole, expecting every species to rebound at the same time. Everyone in the business knows this is unrealistic, but the public does not. Keeping regulations tight keeps fisheries management people in well-paying jobs. Rebuilt stocks are a victory for fishermen, which will lead in theory to less need for NOAA/NMFS bureaucracy, which leads to job losses for them.

Funny how Jane Lubchenco admits consolodation of the fleets will lead to unemployment of fishermen and is fine with that. She knows that if regulations ease and fishermen are allowed to fish without catch shares that the shoe would be on the other foot.

A Tea Party Revolution? Not Bloody Likely!

Yeah I know the tea baggers get alot of airtime, but will the movement ever coagulate into an actual revolutionary movement? My opinion is no. This video shows why...

No coherent structure, hardly even a statement of beliefs, let alone a manifesto. No the Tea Party is not revolutionary, but they still can be dangerous if there are others waiting in the wings.

The Bolsheviks would never have gotten to power without Russia's other revolutionary groups forcing the Tsar to abdicate. The Bolsheviks were a minority (although their names means majority), they couldn't do it themselves. But once the Provisional government was established they took over mainly through force of arms mixed with fear and promises.

I have no fear of the Tea Party taking over, what I fear is the Tea Party causing enough instability for another, more sinister group to take over before anyone else realizes what is happening.

Too many examples to list: From the War of the Roses, To the October Revolution, to even Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith.

Notice how the Right calls Obama Socialist, and yet I often use Russian Revolution terms to describe the Tea Party? A Classic Lenin tactic was to villify your enemy while usurping their own terminology. The Bolsheviks stole the term 'majority' when they had none.
