Mrs. Camille Manzanero-Chua, the Anihan Guest Alumna, shared her success story to inspire the graduates and everybody present in the event. She talked about the challenges she had while still a student, but it was not a reason to stop pursuing. As she graduated from Anihan on 2007, she was immediately employed at The Palms Country Club as an employee in Pastry until 2010. She transferred to Marriott Hotel Manila and for less than a year she became the Commis Chef in Pastry. In 2015, she was given a higher position as Commis 1 in Pastry, and recently she was promoted as the Demi Chef in Pastry. She reminded the graduates to dream big and have a good attitude in every aspect of their journey.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
She added, "I think the right tool to gain trust and respect from your boss and co-leagues is having good attitude. Because for me, if you do not have any skills, you can learn it even if you are a beginner. Without experience you can still be taught. There is no learning to having a good attitude."&lt;/div&gt;

Anihan opened its doors to a total of 214 Female Grade 10 students from different schools. The students went on a school tour with the assistance of Anihan Grade 11 students. Aside from the school tour, the prospective students witnessed baking, cooking, and Food and Beverage Services demonstrations. Lastly, the students participated to parlor games and received freebies.&lt;br /&gt;

The Anihan students and staff, together with the Anihan graduates, mentors, and patrons are united in fondly remembering "Ms. Odgie". Though we will miss her very much, we are also comforted by the fact that she was lovingly accompanied by family and friends especially in her last days and that she was spiritually prepared and at peace when it was time for her to go.&lt;/div&gt;

Every year, Anihan gives out full-tuition scholarship grants to young women from lower-income families to enable them to study and then be immediately employed after graduation. With this new facility, Anihan can increase its number of beneficiaries from 120 to 270 every year.&lt;/div&gt;

For her and for the whole Anihan family, the words of St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei, rang true once more: Dream and your dreams will fall short.&lt;br /&gt;

It was the 4th Family Conference on Mental Health with the theme, “Creating a Vision of Recovery for Families: Paghilom sa Bawat Pamilya.”&lt;br /&gt;

The seminar highlighted topics on mental health and illnesses such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, as well as handling emotions, healing and recovery, psycho-social rehabilitation for recovering patients, and empowering stories of people who recovered or are able to manage these disorders. The Philippine Mental Health Law (RA 11036) was also accentuated in the conference. The gathering aimed to enlighten everyone about the misconceptions about Mental Health and Mental Health Disorders.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
The highlight of the program was Vice President Leni Robredo's message. She recounted how she initiated to push for the Mental Health Law. VP Robredo stated, "&lt;i&gt;I consulted many of my psychiatrist friends. I was asking them what was wrong with our mental health program and that was only when I realized we did not have an existing mental health policy for the country. So, I started pushing it… Mahirap talagang i-push sa congress… I have to be very honest with you. Kulang sa interes sa mental health. Talagang marginalized na topic. And it is contributing more to the stigma because there is too much misinformation, there’s no real policy, and because there is very little interest in the illness&lt;/i&gt;.”&lt;/div&gt;

VP Robredo added, “&lt;i&gt;I am really very happy that more attention was given to it in the congress. So nakapasa siya. And I think lahat tayo should be vigilant in making sure that the implementation is done in accordance with how we envisioned the implementation would be&lt;/i&gt;.”&lt;br /&gt;

The talks were full of eye-opening information about various students' behaviors that can help teachers understand students' situations and help them. One of these four scholars is Faith Fraylin I. Garcia, a Grade 11 student of Anihan. And when the examination result came out, I was one who passed. I was very excited because I really like to be able to go to school and graduate. And now, I’m currently studying at Anihan Technical School. I learned a lot of things not only about cooking, but Values Education as well. Incorporated within the learning is the holistic formation of an individual. Former Vice President and Managing Director at McCann World Group Philippines Miss Cecile G. Velez conducted a two-part values-based branding workshop for Anihan Technical School. The first part of the branding workshop was held on May 4, 2018 at the NDN Grand Hotel in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The second part took place at Anihan on September 5. All the Anihan staff actively took part in reviewing and visualizing Anihan's identity as part of its branding activity.&lt;br /&gt;

Based on the participants' ideas on Anihan's vision, mission, values, programs, and services, Miss Velez facilitated crafting the Anihan purpose:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
“To help women find in themselves the emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual courage to make a positive change in their own lives and help those around them improve their lives as well.”&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
With this purpose explicitly stated, the whole Anihan school community can more strongly live out its vision, mission, and core values at the service of helping women develop and empower themselves.&lt;/div&gt;

The Anihan Technical School, its faculty and administrators, had a professional development training titled: “&lt;i&gt;Whole Brain Development and Demystifying Goals and Aspirations&lt;/i&gt;”, last August 7, 2018. The objective of this workshop was to improve teaching strategies, as well as illuminate queries and challenges that each of the faculty members is facing. The guest speakers gave special attention to the strategies, challenges and possible advantages one can acquire with the help of the Whole Brain Thinking Theory.&lt;br /&gt;

The training-workshop was conducted by Mr. Olwen Abergas, Master Teacher from the New York City Board of Education. This is the third year that Mr. Abergas has been sharing his professional expertise to the Anihan faculty as part of his personal commitment to social responsibility.&lt;/div&gt;

Principles of the Whole Brain Thinking Theory were imparted by Mr. Chip de Guzman, University of the Philippines-Baguio Faculty. The model of Whole Brain Thinking was developed by Ned Herrmann. Whole Brain® Thinking is a methodology designed to help thinkers, teams and organizations better benefit from all of the thinking available to them. It acknowledges that while different tasks require different mental processes, and different people prefer different kinds of thinking, organizations will get better results when they can strategically leverage the full spectrum of thinking available (Herrmann 2015).&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;

Overall, the workshop was an eye-opening experience to all. Teaching problems and challenges of the faculty were answered. It was demonstrated how mistakes, when well-accepted, are the key to correction: it allows both teachers and students to explore the process of learning.&lt;/div&gt;

While working, she took the Hotel and Restaurant Management course of Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), ETEAP (Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program) and graduated in 2015. “When I graduated from Anihan, I worked at the Anihan Livelihood Center for about three years. Then I moved to the Laguna Hills Study Camp and became a Dining Attendant for almost two months. Because of my family's inadequate income I decided to work at Panasonic as a Production Operator for about half a year. I then took a diploma course in Information Technology course at STI in 2008. Because of limited finances, I decided to be a working student. I applied again at the Anihan Livelihood Center and I was fortunate that I was taken in again. After my contract with them, I moved to the PNCC (Philippine National Construction Corporation) as a Toll Teller for almost five months. There, I met my husband - Lawrence who is currently working at Allegro Microsystem Company. As of now, we have one child”&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
&amp;nbsp;“Because of Anihan, I was able to help my parents with their daily expenses at home. My two younger sisters also graduated from Anihan, and are currently working in well-known establishments. As an eldest daughter, it was not easy to pursue my collegiate studies because of financial limitations, but I did not give up because I knew God always helps and guides me”&lt;/div&gt;

Anihan Sports Fest: March, 2018&lt;/h2&gt;

Anihan students, staff and some mentors joined together to celebrate Sports Fest 2018. Everyone was ready to compete and show their talents and skills in sports. The students really do have different talents aside from cooking and baking. Some are gifted with a talent in singing, while others in dancing and choreography. Sports like volleyball, badminton, tug of war and obstacle course and the cheering competition completed the sports day. Sportsmanship and camaraderie were promoted during this annual event.&lt;/div&gt;

The program started with the opening remarks from Ms. Pamela Bermejo, followed by Ms. Chris Leron to introduce the set of judges for the cheering competition: Ms. Joyce Yulo, a UP graduate; Ms. Susan Encarnacion, a part time nutritionist of St Andrews Hospital in Talisay Batangas; Ms. Linda Tuazon, present Philosophy teacher of Grade 12 students.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
Each team showed their creativity and eagerness to win. In the volleyball game, Ms. Nadie Balutabot sat as the referee. In this game, Blue Team (Grade 12 students) wiped out the Green and Yellow Team. In badminton, Yellow Team (Anise) smashed the chance of the remaining team to win the championship. At the end of the competition, Blue Team was declared as the over-all champion.&lt;/div&gt;

“The best that we can take in sports fest is UNITY.&amp;nbsp; If you work in UNITY, you will say, we did our BEST” Ms Minnie said in her closing remarks. Smiles and fun memories from the Sportsfest has become one of the greatest moments of the students in their entire stay in Anihan. It’s more FUN in Anihan. It’s more fun in SPORTS.&lt;/div&gt;

Anihan joined in Incontro Romano National Congress 2018 at PTCC&lt;/h2&gt;

This year, the Incontro Romano National Congress was held at the Philippine Trade Training Center on Saturday March 3. The event started at 10 am and ended at 3:30 pm. Foundation for Professional Training, Incorporated (FPTI) schools (Anihan Technical School, Manila Institute for Culinary Arts and Residential Services, Punlaan School and Habihan School) and other Opus Dei Centers like Pandan, Tawili, Dalayrayan, Linang Center participated in the event. UP Iloilo, De La Salle University and STI Batangas also joined in the congress.&lt;br /&gt;

Incontro Romano is an initiative that was started in 1990, thanks to Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, in order to spread the reality expressed by St. Josemaria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei: “All work has a dimension of service when it is carried out thinking about the people to whom it is directed”.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;
The program started with opening remarks given by Ms. Pinky Castro the National Coordinator of Incontro Romano Philippines. She explained that the event creates spaces for reflection, and promotes an activity which puts the person as the center focus. It fosters interdisciplinary research, training with excellence, and international initiatives. With these activities we seek to respond to the urgent challenge of protecting and improving our “shared home,” planet Earth. It is a platform of professionals and students who aim to highlight jobs where the direct care of the person is the principal focus, because they have the transforming power to make the social environment more human.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;

After that, Ms Cherrie Atilano gave an inspirational talk about the theme “Sustainability and Sustainable Development.” Ms Cherrie is the present CEO of AGREA which aim to educate the farmers in modern ways of farming.
