[VIDEO] HumanIK , Paint Effects, Motion Capture and messing around with Maya visor presets and hamburgers

Ah well nothing exciting really, just a very short clip of using this HumanIK rig within maya 2013 and the basketball player character from the visor.
Found this Motion capture data on the web and attached it to the HumanIK rig. Added some paint effects and used some substance shaders to texture the scene.
Nothing special, also just rendered it with hardware render 2.0, its quick. :)

[3D] Energy-saving bulb character concept created with Maya

Just a very quickly modeled character concept of an energy-saving bulb and a light bulb, I created last year. Didn´t spend much time on that, thats why the elbows don´t bend properly due to poor paint weighting and very rough modeling.

Was only a WIP model.

The Automobile club of Munich ( ACM ) held its annual meeting beneath the Bavaria statue in Munich, Germany. Unfortunately the weather wasn´t that great, but still a lot of car owners showed up.

Well created this 3d Erotic font, which was modeled in Maya. It was for a price comparison site, where also Erotic products could be evaluated.

Only uploaded the interesting part, with the 3d font itself :) The rest is anyway just this guy talking.

[AD] Maya ncloth simulation and paint effects fur for fluffy towel

Created some ncloth simulation for this product film for a Siemens spot. Its actually already quite an old project. We worked on that last year, so nothing new to be honest.

And here some test renders of some ncloth cloth and Maya paint effects with some hair brush, in order to achieve some fluffy effect. I think I first tried the fuzz paint effect, which didnt look convincing, so in the end I used some bunny fur paint effect, as far as I remember.

Those test renders then were used in another clip about stain removal ( 0:55 - 0:58 ) Quite short appearance and nothing exciting :)

It is basically a combination of displacement map, Maya paint effects fur and hair and some animated stains textures. Here some screenshots of the final footage and some closeup shots of the towel :

Just a small selection of photos I took during my holiday visit in India. Was mostly traveling the North.

All in all I took 4000 photos, but I had to pick a small selection to be able to upload to picasa. Well in the gallery there are still 1000 photos :)

Was a project with quite a time limit. Used Maya and the craft-4-wheeler plugin that comes with it.

Worked quite well, although sometimes it looks like as if the cars would crash. :)

[VIDEO] Maya toon car driving test and some proxy renders with substance shaders

just a quick test of a toon shader rendered with mental ray outlines. Also created a parking lot and rendered it with mi render proxies to be able to handle all the geometry. All in all it was about 20 Million polygons, since I also used Maya fur for the grass.
The plants were downloaded from Autodesk seek and the ivy created with the ivy creator.

All textures were created with the substance shaders in Maya 2012.

It was just a test to implement a toon car into an environment, so its nothing final, just a test.
Also tested the capabilities of craft animation plugin for Maya.
Just messing about with it :)

We later used it in a project at Fiction Films.

[AD] Cardboard character design created with Maya

Designed this cardboard character for commercial purposes. Did the modelling, texturing , rigging and animation.

[RIG] Crazy train ride - Maya railway rigging test

created a very rough and sketchy train rig with Maya. This is just a test and the train behaviour is far from realistic.
Also the scaling isnt correct and the speed of the train isnt correct either, especially in curves. But then it was just for fun and a test. Nothing else.

Its more of a rollercoaster ride to be honest. :D

Did the CAD cleaning , modelling and the rigging as well as the final compositing.

[3D] Thames Barrier model for Siemens ad

Created this model of the Thames Barrier back in September 2009. it was created for a Siemens ad.
Spent some time adding some details, unfortunately the model is only briefly visible in the background and blurry as well. :-) But still enjoyed modeling it. Only worked with photo reference from Google, so its not an accurate model.

Helped to realize 11 different HEXAL clips for Expopharm 2009, a medical fair in Germany.
Those were finished in September.

Created during my internship at Fiction Films GMBH.

[3D] Dittschberger Bier ad - testing shaders

Well just added some textures and shaders to the bottle and the Pils glass for the custom made Dittschberger beer ad.

Well here is just a render with the shaders. The glass, bottle and beer are just simple dielectric shaders with just some textures attached to it via layered shader.
The foam is just a fast simple SSS shader with a little bump. Im rather happy with the result. Foam isnt very easy. Once animated I probably need a different method for the closeups.

Here I just added some particles with dynamics in order to get some fizzy beer:

Well in order to get the CGI beer a little refreshing I added some condensation water droplets. However I think I added too many. The droplets are just Maya paint effects and I didnt change the shader for it. Those are just basic Phong shaders, probably will change them once.

Didnt do any caustic or occlusion pass yet, its just WIP.

Well created a few props for my animated short Im planning. Well its only some fairly basic stuff. In fact I only created a beer glas and a beer bottle. Nothing fancy.

My idea is using my snail character in a custom made commercial. You may think, snail and beer does that fit together? :-)
Well I think so. My main inspiration comes from this old Guinness ad about snail racing as well as the reactions of a drunken snail .
Somehow found it hilarious.

Well my beer campaign will advertise a beer company that doesnt really exist. Dont want to offend anyone of course. I am actually using a fictive beer brand that is used in a German comedy called "Dittsche". ( imdb or Wiki)
Dittsche was created by comedian Olli Dittrich for the WDR, who plays an unemployed visiting his favourite chip chop. There he philosophizes about everydays life , while drinking his favourite beer called "Dittschberger Pilsener".

Well to make things short. Created some beer bottle, bottle cap and glas. Still needs some little work as well as shaders. Creating the beer foam will be interesting:

( since its comedy they actually wrote on the label that the beer comes without cadmium )

Just edited the shaders for the 3d snail character. Now it also got a specular map and reflection map, giving the slug some more moist look.
