Is Clannad in my top 5 list?

Inspired by HappySoda post and after seeing some other blogs with the same reactions, I decided to post my top 5 anime shows at the moment just to give and idea to my readers what kind of anime shows I really like and I consider a must watch. It took me a while to make the post but here it is. They arent in order but anyway:

* Cowboy Bebop
Spike Spiegel bounty hunter life, fighting technique, his motivation and how he sees life really has an impact on me.

* Evangelion
First show to demostrate not everyone wants to be a hero but there is no option is you want to save the world.

* Card Captor Sakura
I felt in love with Sakura and Syaoran. Both were very cute as a couple.

* Full Metal Alchemist
Alchemy has its reason to be. Equivalent exchange, err I mean give something of equal value to gain something in return it is the world's one, and only truth.

* Fate/Stay Night
Saber. Should I say something more?

Now, what my top has to say about me? I consider there were some good quality shows excluded from the list, making basically a top 5 list not enough to post my all-time favorite shows (like Clannad for example). What is your top 5 anime?

Fall of the Berlin Wall Festivities photopost

The German Embassy Team from here invited all interested people to the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. I have some Deutsch friends so I went to see the activities and to take some pictures covering the event for the blog. Pictures after the jump:

The event was covered by local media. A cute girl was doing the interviews. I think she was talking in german. Almost everyone was speaking in german. Me? I only can speak in Spanish, English and some Portuguese. Actually Im self studying Japanese.

As part of Embassy activities, there was travel info for people who was interested in Deutschland culture and also info about the Fall of the Berlin Wall. I always have wondered, Its the same to refer to Deutschland as Germany?

There was plenty of security in the activities. When I saw this line I first thought there was free food or free donuts. Well, it was noon so I was hungry.

The food wasnt free. You had to pay for it. A lot of Sausages and beer but was local beer, too bad it wasnt German beer which I would like to try.

Also there was some commemorative painting exposition given by art students.

Kagami was curious about the acrylic used for the paintings and she decided to help a little in the art exposition.

Cute student girls doing some special dancing for the event. This was the best part of the festivities.

And finally music. Funny to see how the musicians were dressed. It was a cool detail.

As part of the festivities there was going to be a rock concert in the night but I left early in the afternoon.

Fall of the Berlin Wall Festivities

As Germany celebrates the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, German Embassy from here made yesterday a special event which I and Kagami had the opportunity to assist.

I will post later the pictures of the event. Im still selecting the best photos to upload.

For today, there will be a rock concert at Berlin Plaza.

Another hijack, this time from Homo Homini Lupus. Saw the pic and its hilarious. Google has everything:

* Chrome
and Notebook, a google app for your notes. In here, people usually say "San Google" (Saint Google) referring to the "Google it" action and the All praise to the Google.

Did I mention I would like to work for Google??

Google Adsense Earnings

I cant believe those adsense earnings!!

First, let me tell you, the previous pic is an example of a fake google adsense earnings screenshot. I know, this may be sound like old news, but you will be surprised how easy it is to create a fake Adsense earnings screenshot without any photoshopping skills and mislead unsuspecting readers.

There is in the cloud, a free online tool called Google Adsense Generator which can roll out a real-looking, but fake Google Adsense earnings screenshot, with all identifying details blacked out, based on the income you specify.

Too bad I dont have those numbers in my adsense account (yet). Lol!!

I hope that readers with adsense accounts do a really good job monetizing their sites and blogs. Im sure I dont entirely blog for money, but all extra income is well received. XD.

Giving animoe meishi cards

TCG-Con Cosplay - part2

Here is the second part of TCG Anime Convention review. You can visit Argos blogsite for a complete review of the convention and dcast063 youtube user for some videos of the event. More pictures after the jump.

Rin (from Fate/Stay Night) cosplay. She represented very well the character. There were another Rin cosplayers but she was better. Unfortunatelly there was no Saber cosplay, being Saber more difficult to cosplay.

The event also had computer games. Some Starcraft fans were playing in tournament mode.

Beware of Samurai girls.

Luigi and Wario? What are they doing here? Mario was around but couldnt take a picture of him.

Mr. Bobo (Mr. Popo in original dub) and what's the name of the othey guy? Not much of a Dragon Ball fan. I only watched the first season of the show.

Two cute cosplayers. Dont know for sure wat show they were cosplaying, but was good.

Kaonashi (from Spirited Away) and Sailor Mars.

Something new in the convention was this fun game: Reto Ramen. It was an eat as-fast-as-you can Ramen competition. The Ramen was very hot and spicy making it difficult to eat quickly. The contest reminded a similar competition from Samurai Champloo, but the organizator took the idea from Naruto show. Any guesses who won??

TCG-Con Cosplay - part1

Last weekend I went to TCG Argos Convention at Industry Park. I bring my camera and took some pictures of the event. I also was carrying with me animoe name cards to promote the blog. Pictures follows.

The event started this time at 9.30 am and there were some enthusiasts who arrived early - like me. ^^ I think this was the first time the Convention starts in the morning and lasts until the afternoon. (6pm).

The cosplay is the main reason pleople come to the convention. Here is a very good Death Note cosplay. Have you seen DN?? The girl surely looks like Misa Amane.

Do you recognize this cosplay? I think its from Rozen Maiden.

I really liked this cosplay, specially the Hokage girl.

animoe name cards

They're finally here!

Today, I picked up Animoe name/business cards. I used double sided Konata portrait design, which you helped me to choose in the meishi preview post. They were just in time for TCG Con.

I like the final result. The cost was something like US$ 30 for 100 which was done by a local printing company. I considered doing the print job in moo.com where the 100 mini-pack costs US$20 but because of delivery additional costs and timing I didnt do it.

Now I must say, Konata's side is a little more darker in real from what you see in the pic. That was due a little error of me when delivering the designs to printing. I gave the design files in RGB mode, which looked very good on screen, but when printing the real color format is CMYK that uses more dark tones. Not bad for being my first meishi. ^^

Anyway the cards are great and Im gonna use them to promote this site and to network with people with same interests.

This is a quick post of my current Windows 7 wallpaper desktop background. She is Subaru Nakajima from Nanoha Strikers show. What do you have as desktop background now?

You can find the original picture and a complete figure review of Subaru Nakajima in Meronpan's blog in here.

I like how Win7 has an option for auto change the picture every certain time and to shuffle all the images if you pick a source folder with all your background images.

Mostly all my desktop wallpapers are high figure quality photos. Do you think Subaru's wallpapers are safe for work?

meishi preview

I have two final designs for animoe name card. Both are double sided. I still have to pick one of them but here is a preview of the meishi designs before printing order:

Public Sleeping

I have seen in diferent blogs, the public sleeping (Danny Choo) and Slightly public sleeping (Tokyo Times) both from Japan where people are very exhausted and do a little napping in public.

Well, let me tell you, in a very early morning, I came across with this woman who decided to sleep a few minutes in public before heading to work.

I think sleeping in public areas is the result for a very stressing urban life.

Exchange 5.0

Do you remember Microsoft Exchange 5.0? Well if you didnt know about it or this is the first time you hear of it, prior Microsoft Office Outlook 97, people used Exchange 5.0 as e-mailing and contact application.

I found at work, this very, very old course manual book about to be dumped in the trash. I save it to view a little about the software history and to see what has changed since then.

Interesting to see how this program was enough back in those days. Very simple if you compare it now. I never used Exchange 5.0. In fact, My first mailing application that I used was Outlook 2003 in my first job.

Meishi design for animoe

"Meishi" [名刺] is the Japanese word for a name/business card and its the right time for me to choose a good design for animoe.net meishi.

Im planning to use name cards for next TCG-Con as a way to promote and network my blog. I have in mind to do a name card double sided, one side with an image and the other side with contact info.

Now here comes the hard part. Im trying to choose the best image side for the card from my figures photoshoot, but I cant decide for a favorite. This is where you all come in. I would like for all of my readers too pick their favorite pic from the following pictures. The winner image will be used for the name card design.

Should I pick a design with a different orientation?

Now, Im realizing that I havent done a Figma Kagami and Nendo Shana photoshoot using the leopard MacOs wallpaper as a background. ;)

Star Wars Convention Guatemala 2009

Last weekend was a Star Wars Contention and here is my photo review of the event. Collectible figures were in exposition for the convention. There was some figure sales and trading for interested people. Also some local shops offering new figures and t-shirts.

Extensive Star Wars figure collection. Very impressive, was a entire room filled with figurines.

Jedi young academy. Training the next Jedi generation. See the young padawan? I think The Force is strong in him.

Some Jedi swords exposition. Incredible how fans become real experts about Jedi and Sith weaponry.

Lego Star Wars at the convention are getting very popular lately for hobbyists.

Vader half fan half original costume. Too bad there wasnt troopers in the event.

Master Yoda picture. What is that clone doing?

Food court in the convention. Time was 11:30 am so still a little early to have lunch.

TCG-CON 2009

Next sunday 25th will be held the Trading Card Game Convention Guatemala at Industry Park. The activities in the convention will be Cosplay, anime karaoke, Jeopardy, TCG tournament and a new category: Chibi Cosplay or cosplay for the little kids

New Ipod Nano

New nano and I even like the colors!

Apple has released the new Ipod Nano now with a integrated camera and a FM radio turner. I dont want to explicitly say it but I told you!! This was the kind of missing features I expected in previous releases of Ipod Nano as you can read in a previous post or when I was comparing Ipod with Zune.

In my previous posts I was predicting Ipod should have FM and video capabilities now a reality.

The new Ipod Nano can now, shoot video, has a FM turner and record voice. Considerable capabilities I would like to see in Ipod nano would be: Bluetooth, custom or personalizable GUI themes, capabilities to read or to see certain documents (TXT,PDF,DOC) and now that has a camera, take photos perhaps??

What will Apple add in future releases of Ipod Nano?

Hall of fame

My employer has a wall in the lobby of the office featuring all the certifications in frames that trainers have won.

There is a lot of pressure for winning certifications in here, and both boss and supervisor expects at least one certification per month, like if that would be piece of cake.

For now there are two certifications won by me in the so called hall of fame. I recently has passed Exchange 2007 certification exam, but Im not the kind of person who likes or enjoys showing off my credentials just to get noticed.

I do like for example, to display credentials from different vendors, as a way to inspirate people and in sort way to show an example of what would you win if you decide for certain certification track.

Could you guess what frame its mine from the pic? There are Itil certs, office specialists, Linux and Microsoft certifications from all my coworkers.

My Windows 7 experience

A couple of weeks ago, I migrated to Windows 7 for Pre-launch day, and let me tell you, since then my Win7 experience has been superceeded. I was an XP power user and then used Vista in work but I only had Vista for 4 bare months until I decided to do a clean install of 7.

Now, comparing Vista with Windows 7 I better stick with 7 and forget about Vista. I think Vista will be considered exactly the same way like the Millenium Version was considered.

But not all is a bed of roses. I have seen some screenshots of what could be the blue screen of death or some other log on failures, so Win7 its not invulnerable nor perfect.

Things that I like about 7:
* the windows shake effect and the snap thing that lets you compare 2 windows.
* the new taskbar. I think I prefer just view the icons that reading the program name. Also now can be more organized programs at the same time.
* the Windows interface. I consider XP a totally hit for Microsoft history and Win7 design is very good.
* Win7 requirements are not exaggerated compared with Vista.
* Power user, hibernation and consumption for laptops works better in Win7 than in Vista.

Things I dont totally like from Win7:
* When running messenger there are more than just one thumbnail preview.
* Also the same with IE8. I have only one program running with various tabs so there is a thumbnail preview for every tab. Well, I use Mozilla Firefox more often.
* When copy more than one folder, there are multiple copy dialog boxes. I think I like the only one integrated copy dialog box in Panther.
* The new notification area has a fixed number of visible icons.

At home I still have XP, but I consider in change to Win7 in a couple of months. How has been your Win7 experience? What do you like more, XP, Vista, Win7?

Now I think I will setup a proper wallpaper for my otaku taste.
