Have to admit…I was NOT expecting this to be this good.

Another day, another new anime to watch. Well, I actually watched this last night and didn’t particularly feel like writing about it until today.

Anyway, Senhime (or Senki, as I have seen it advertised in some places) Zesshou Symphogear is about 2 girls who fight evil beings called the “Noise” with the power of music.

Now, when I first saw this synopsis, I was like “What the crap? This sounds so stupid”. Somehow, I ended up watching it, thinking that I somehow let myself be fooled into watching something thats going to go the same way as Rio: Rainbow Gate (that god awful pile of trash that shouldn’t even be considered anime).

And I have to say it’s a little bit of awesome. I mean….they even display the name of their moves on the screen in epic fashion! And it’s not put there just to cover up the lameness of the move. The move itself actually DOES look awesome. The name card for it just that’s extra little bit of awesome.

And then there’s the transformation sequence. Again, a very awesome scene to watch. But then, I’m a sucker for magical girl-style transformation scenes (Sailor Moon, Nanoha…I love it all…)

I’d say its 3B Ratio is actually pretty balanced at the moment, which is nice. (I might actually make a page explaining the 3B ratio, because I think it’s a little awesome and deserves recognition)

If Only A Stadium Like This Existed...

So yeah, overall I’m liking this series. There isn’t really much of a story to it yet, but there’s more than enough time for all that, if they continue with the awesome fight scenes.

That’s all I’m saying about this one.

Off to go play some games. Cosmic Break, anyone?

I can’t decide whether or not this series is going to be amazing or just downright stupid.

So, after watching New Prince of Tennis and getting overly excited about it as well as contemplating WHY they are still in middle school when they should have graduated at the end of the Nationals, I decided to take a look at High School DxD.

A brief summary: Boy joins new Co-Ed school and is on the hunt for a girlfriend. Boy finds “girlfriend”, who subsequently proceeds to stab him to death after their first date. Boy is brought back to life by a devil chick who goes to the same school as him and is now made her slave. Boy gets attacked AGAIN, but this time ends up being saved by his new master and they wake up together in boy’s room.

Now then, the amount of tits that were thrown around in this one episode slighty reminds me of one Queen’s Blade/Sekirei/Maken-ki. And I’m slightly pissed off with it all. There is NO direct correlation with the amount of tits displayed in a series and the likeability of a series! Now, whenever I see excessive skin exposure without good cause, I feel that the studio have just thrown it in to try and cover up what would originally be a rather bland series.

Because Boobies Do Not Make For A Better Series

And that’s how I feel this series will turn out. Just another simple anime with lots of fanservice to keep people wanting to watch it. This episode did have a couple of redeeming factors, however. Two of my favourite things in anime. Battles and Blood. So I think it might actually come down to how much of these two things we see, compared to the level of Boobs we get. (For the sake of calling it the “3B Ratio” – That’s trademarked to me by the way…I will sue your ass if you even think of using it without my permission!)

If I was actually one of those type of anime watchers that dropped anime, this MIGHT be one of the series that got the chop. But I have a higher tolerance level for stupidity than most normal anime watchers, so I’m going to persevere through this and see it through to it.

On to the next series….

As many of you might know, Disqus is a great platform which you can use for people to comment using a number of different accounts, such as Google, Twitter, Facebook and many more.

I installed it because I saw it on another site and thought it looked quite cool, so I wanted it too. That’s about all.

To be honest, I had it installed ages ago, but never switched it on because I wanted to roll it out with the new layout I was supposed to design, but the designing is taking its sweet time due to real life commitments, so I’ve put it on hold for now and decided to just go with the new comments plugin.

One more thing, I decided to have a blog name change, yet again. This time, I think it will be the last (although knowing my flimsy attitude, I’ll want another change 6 months down the line). I’ll probably reveal it when I finally get to revealing the new layout.

So, stay tuned for that.

Here’s Your Happy New Year Gift. My Boobs In Your Face. Appreciate It!

First of all, I would just like to say Happy New Year to all of you readers and I wish you all the best for 2012.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business.

I’m just gonna quickly review all the Fall 2011 Anime real quick, because I feel like I’ve been neglecting my blogging duties for a while.

So let’s go!

Hunter x Hunter

It’s a fun series. For me, it had its moments of epic and then moments of unfulfilment. But overall, I’m enjoying it. According to my reliable sources, things are going to be getting a lot more darker and interesting from now on.

C3: Cube x Cursed x Curious

Well, this series was alright, I suppose. It’s another one of those series where the door is open for a second series, I think. Although I probably don’t think we’ll get one, so it’ll be left to the viewer’s imagination as to what happens next (or you can just read the manga, I guess). I personally hate series that do that, but meh.
I’d like to thank UTW for subbing this series.

Guilty Crown

I like this series. I like it a lot! I’m not sure why I do. But I just do. It might have something to do with the songs. The story itself isn’t all that bad though, I have to say and the action scenes are great, so definitely give it a watch if you haven’t done so already.

Gundam AGE

I think the first big mistake they made with Gundam AGE was to make the main character a little kid. It just doesn’t work. Fine, his family may have been the people who invented the famous Gundam and he lost his parents in the UE invasion, but come on. His voice hasn’t even broken yet and he’s talking like he’s a veteran of war? It just doesn’t sit right with me.
Still, the Gundam itself does look awesome and I like the whole interchangeable body thing. But it still doesn’t come close to some of the other Gundams I’ve seen, like Wing Zero!

Digimon Xros Wars: The Boy Hunters Who Leap Through Time

For those of you that watched the first series, there were a few things that bugged me out about it.

• Lots of Digimon that I remember from my old Digimon watching days were to be seen.
• As interesting as DigiXrossing is…it still din’t beat good old Digivolution. And the DigiXrossing got a little bit ridiculous towards the end of the series.
• Digivolution did eventually come to the series, but it still wasn’t the same as they only evolved once and even then, they had to rely on DigiXrossing to get stronger.

Well, the second season is more of the same only this time:

• The Digimon can freely digivolve whenever they like.
• The humans can relatively freely travel between the Digital World and the real world via Time Shift.
• You have to “capture” Digimon. (I still don’t know the purpose of this fact, yet)
• You can only DigiXros with one Digimon at a time (effectively ruling out some of Taiki’s more powerful combos, unless he does what he did with Yuu and does a Double DigiXros, but then that only allowed him up to X4)

So, yeah. I’m not enjoying the series at the moment, but it’s still early days for this series, so I’m sure things will come to light eventually.

• Mirai Nikki – The show just gets better each episode I watch.
• Hunter x Hunter – A bit of an annoyingly slow start in my opinion, but now I’m enjoying the build up.
• C3 or Guilty Crown – It’s a toss up between the two of these. I can’t decide which one I like more. I think C3 might get the nod though.

To be honest, I haven’t even started watching Shakugan no Shana Final yet (yes, I know. I’m sorry) and I’m fairly sure that will be a great series when I do eventually sit down and take the time to watch it.

Don't be fooled by this cutesy appearance...

So, I decided that I needed to take some time out and catch up on some of the anime that I hadn’t watched for the past week and a half due to me pretty much out every night after work. To start with, I watched C3 and powered through all the episodes I had downloaded. As the caption in the above picture says….do NOT be fooled.

This is more like it...

C3 is pretty similar to “Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka?” if I had to compare it to anything.

The story revolves around a cursed weapon named Fear-in-Cube who has been sent to a young boy’s house named Haruaki (pretty sure it was his grandfather who sent Fear there but I can’t remember) in order for him to help her remove the curse.

Of course, removing the “curse” won’t be easy because there are people after her head. Just like the crazy bitch in my image above (she got taken care of in the latest episode by the way..). So, as heroes do, Haruaki, with the help of a female cursed sword and a bondage freak do battle in a bid to protect Fear and eventually lift her curse.

I’m loving this anime so far because it’s a nice balance of all the related genres; action, comedy and drama. Plus, I mentioned before that it was a lot like Kore wa Zombie and that series was brilliant.

This was just a quick post really. I know it doesn’t have much substance but I had an urge to talk about something and so I did! I really should get back into my episodic review style of posting, but I first need to race through all my anime backlog, which I’m doing, slowly but surely.

I think I just crapped myself...

Ladies and Gentlemen, I believe we have a winner for the best anime of the Fall season…..and it’s only been 3 – 4 weeks.

Yes folks, Mirai Nikki is absolutely amazing. Again, dragging myself away from Prince of Tennis, I decided to watch episode 3 of this gem of a series…and god, is it awesome!!

For those of you that don’t watch it, our protagonist, Yukiteru Amano has been thrown into a subspace by the “God of Time and Space” (who started off being an imaginary friend in Yukiteru’s mind, until it was revealed that he is actually real) and is forced to participate in a twisted game of “Last Man Standing”, equipped with a mobile phone that can tell you the future, each one unique to its owner and it seems as though Yukiteru is the one everyone is going after…..poor guy.

Luckily, he has allies in the form of a old-timer police officer, whose motives we still don’t actually know (that’s if he has any. He could just be a generally nice guy…he is a cop after all?) and  slightly twisted pink haired chick who has stalked our protagonist from the day they met.

"Peek-a-Boo...I see you..." she says as she appears from the shadows....

Throw in a now one-eyed terrorist chick and a now-deceased mass murderer and eight other still to be revealed participants and we have ourselves the recipe for AWESOME. Yukiteru must now try and survive with the help of his future diary and his allies (and I use that term VERY loosely) and be the last one standing at the end of this game.

So far, I am loving it! But you probably might have been able to tell that from the above talk…

I definitely advise you to check it out if you have some spare time. If you don’t….make some spare time and watch it…the God of Time and Space orders you to do so. If you don’t, someone will be paying your home a visit…

"Aren't you gonna let me in...?"

The crazy gang from Wagnaria are back for a second season of fun and laughter.

What started off as excitement eventually turned into unfulfilment. Ihave no idea why but this season so far hasn’t lived up to its predecessor.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s funny. At times, it’s very funny. But it’s not enough for me. At least, it’s not enough for me right now.

What are everyone else’s thoughts on the show so far?

I finally managed to drag myself away from Prince of Tennis to watch some new stuff. >.<

Don’t ask me why. But for some reason, I was expecting to be disappointed after watching Guilty Crown.

It turns out, I was wrong. Guilty Crown turned out to be pretty good.

The setting kinda reminds me of Code Geass. Japan is pretty much oppressed by outside nations, although in Guilty Crown, they needed the help of other countries due to a pandemic and there seems to be that there’s an organisation out there that’s still in charge and doing as they please, under the guise of “keeping the country safe”.

Our main character, Shu Ouma, looks to be a big pushover, until he meets Inori, the lead vocalist for the band EGOIST (he was listening their song at the start of the episode).

After Inori gets taken away by the authorities, Shu takes it upon himself to deliver a package to a person named Gai at a location given to him by Inori’s robot whose name I do not care to remember.

Shortly after arriving at the designated location, he is met by hostile thugs who want him to hand over the robot.

Fortunately for Shu, he is saved by the very man he is looking for. After effortlessly taking care of the bad guys and sending them running with their tails between their legs, he and his team are alerted of enemy presence nearby and are forced into battle.

Gai leaves Shu to look after the package as he takes off with his team.

Shu, with his new courage, races off to protect what has been entrusted to him and spots Inori climbing out of a turned over van and into the waiting guns of the enemy mecha. In a desperate attempt to rescue her, Gai dashes at her and throws himself at her, allowing  the mecha to shoot the tube he was carrying in his pocket.

This triggered the awakening of the Guilty Crown, formed from the link between people’s hearts. Shu accepts his newfound power and uses it effectively dispatch the enemy mecha in front of him.

Well, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I am definitely looking forward  to watching more. I’m really wondering why the hell I thought this was going to be bad at first, but I’m so glad it wasn’t.

Now, back to Prince of Tennis…
