A stealthy first-person action game with up-close combat and light 3D platforming, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a sequel to Starbreeze Studio's acclaimed Xbox action-adventure, Escape from Butcher Bay. Players resume the role of the nocturnally ocular Richard B. Riddick, first portrayed by Vin Diesel in the sci-fi movie Pitch Black, and then in 2004's Escape from Butcher Bay and the concurrently released Chronicles of Riddick feature film. Riddick's ability to see in the dark gives him advantages in the shadows, where he can often pass undetected. When his cover is blown, his martial arts mastery and ruthless fighting style make it difficult to beat him to the punch, and gunfights are more common in Assault on Dark Athena than in the earlier game.

The Assault on Dark Athena single-player story begins with Riddick and his current companion, the bounty hunter William Johns, in cryostatsis aboard their small ship, adrift in space. Riddick's "deep sleep" dreams (which serve as the game's tutorial stage) are interrupted as the vessel is boarded by pirates, who carry Johns off as Riddick hides in the shadows. As he explores the pirate's massive ship, called The Dark Athena, Riddick uncovers an injustice he can't abide and sets out to shut the entire operation down. In addition to the new sequel story, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena includes the complete Escape from Butcher Bay game, updated for play on the high-def generation consoles.

Mature players explore the seven deadly sins as they seek fame and fortune in this Sims-style game of relationships from Monte Cristo. Raven Software presents an adventure for the ages in Singularity, a first-person action game that puts players in control of time itself. Set in the present day, the game's plot revolves around a science-fiction piece of equipment called the "Time Manipulation Device," or "TMD." It allows its user to send a single object (or person) forward or backward through time, relative to the world around it. The powerful device is central to both the game's puzzle-solving and combat. It could be used to age a strong iron gate blocking a path into crumbling rust, for example, or to revert an enemy soldier to a devolved, mindless, monstrous state. Players take the role of a top Air Force pilot named Nate Renko, who is sent to investigate the mysterious island known as Katorga-12, a source of powerful, identified radiation. It appears that the island was once home to a Cold War skunk works for the Russians, and the ground zero location of a time-space disaster that occurred 60 years earlier. Time itself is now unstable on the island, as it seems to fluctuate between 1950 and 2010. Nate faces Russian soldier enemies from both time periods, as well as ferocious animals and plants that have been mutated by the radiation and unstable time-scape. Combat in the game plays out as in a first-person shooter, with conventional firearms, and later using the TMD as a ranged weapon, as well. Nate obtains the TMD early in his explorations of the island, and discovers the device's full powers as he experiments throughout his mission. In addition to quickly aging or reverting targets, the device can freeze an object in space and time, and later in the adventure, Nate learns to fire an impulse of energy that blasts enemies and object away from him.

The World of WarCraft changes forever with the coming of Cataclysm. The earth quakes, oceans burst forth, and well-known landscapes crack and crumble, as the ancient dragon aspect Deathwing makes his destructive return to the mortal realms. Unlike earlier WoW expansions, which add new continents for players to explore, Cataclysm reshapes the game's original world of Azeroth, permanently altering many familiar locations across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Some world regions become more dangerous, some are made more accessible, and some reveal forgotten treasures to challenge the game's most powerful heroes.

With this worldwide upheaval come new areas to explore, additional playable character races, and battlefields and dungeons of unprecedented danger and reward. At the expansion's December 2010 launch, this widespread transformation of Azeroth is experienced by all World of WarCraft players, but the new areas, abilities, quests, and character types are available only to those with the Cataclysm add-on. Like earlier expansion sets, Cataclysm requires full installations of the main World of WarCraft game and the previous add-on packages, Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King.

Higher-level player characters now can train to use their flying mounts in the reshaped world of Azeroth, and some of the most challenging areas introduced in the expansion can only be reached on-the-wing. Cataclysm raises the character level cap to 85 and emphasizes end-game content, with extensive quest lines, heroic instances, and raids designed for top-level characters. Class abilities are refined and the talent tree systems are revamped. The expansion also adds two 15-level starting areas, one for each of the new playable races.

The wolf-like worgen of Gilneas, released from their self-imposed isolation by the destruction of the Greymane Wall, join the Alliance. A faction of goblins, forced to flee volcanic eruptions at their remote island homeland, joins the Horde. Previously unavailable combinations of existing character races and classes, such as human hunters and troll druids, also become playable in the expansion. A new secondary profession, Archeology, allows characters to uncover lore from the ancient days of Azeroth, and to earn useful rewards as they learn the skill. High-level resources and recipes are added for all the main professions, as well.

Metro 2033 is a first-person adventure of fast-paced shooter combat, with a strong narrative. Based on the same-titled sci-fi novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, the game is set in the subway systems beneath Moscow, in the aftermath of World War III. Toxic atmosphere and mutant monstrosities have forced the world's few known human survivors underground, where each subway station has come to serve as a sort of sovereign city-state. Players take the role of Artyom, who was born before the apocalypse but has lived his entire life underground. His unique insight on a terrible truth forces Artyom from the relative safety of the underground station that has been the only home he has known, to deliver a fateful warning to the other survivors who are rumored to live throughout the vast, subterranean rail network. As he follows his mission to a far-distant subway station, Artyom encounters constant challenges to his combat skills and equipment, as well as to his fundamental belief in the inherent good of the human species and his convictions for its survival.

Blur is an exaggerated-action driving game for high-def generation consoles and home computers, featuring kart-style racing in realistic, urban settings.
