I’ve shot weddings of all different shapes, cultures and sizes.  From cozy weddings with 40 guests to large weddings with 400 guests.  But this wedding was perhaps the most smallest and most intimate yet.  It was just the couple, me and the officiant.  It was so small that the officiant said I had to sign the certificate since I was the only witness present.  Isn’t that something?  This sweet darling couple flew in from out of state to get married at the beautiful El Matador beach in Malibu.  The ceremony lasted only ten minutes and I was only hired for one hour of photos.  Even though the ceremony was short and sweet … I still cried.  Their handwritten vows were so heartfelt, touching and personal.  They were married at sunset right on a stretch of sandy beach with the sound of waves crashing at their feet.  It was glorious to be present at that very moment because I realized just how special it was for me to be there.  I was there to witness their union.  Not only that — but I was responsible for capturing and preserving these moments!  They were going to take these photos home to share with their parents, friends and family who could not be there to witness it.  And that’s when I realized just how much I love my job as a wedding photographer.  This couple will share these photos with their future children … and grandchildren.  I was there to capture the start of their beautiful new life together … and I just felt so small … so unworthy and just completely … honored.  Words can’t describe it.  Here are just a few photos to show you how deeply special this wedding was.

Monique is such a sweetheart!  She booked me without ever meeting me in person so I was thrilled to finally meet her and Daniel at the engagement session.  Monique and Daniel are doing the long distance thing at the moment because he’s out of state for med school.  In fact, he went straight to the airport immediately after our session!  It was a race against the clock but he made it just in time to board his flight.  I loved watching these two during our time together.  She hugged him just a little bit tighter and he snuggled into hair just a little but longer.  Long-distance makes you appreciate your partner more and that’s what these two are — totally appreciative and supportive of one another.  Looking forward to their wedding this summer!

Pokey and Luis are so wonderful together.  I figured this out at their awesome engagement session where they brought fun props and cute outfits.  I loved learning more about them as a couple and about their incredible faith in Christ and how He is the center of their relationship.  The first thing they told me at their e-session was that they had decided to refrain from kissing and were saving it for their wedding day!  I loved the gesture and thought it was so special.  I also thought the theme for their marriage was perfect for them both.  He is the “lion” and she is the “lamb”.  Isn’t that cute?  They were married at the Messiah Lutheran Church followed by a lovely reception at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda.  It was a beautiful wedding ceremony full of worship and praise, and I love looking at these precious moments from their splendid day.

Oh this sweet, sweet couple.  There are so many good things to say about them – I don’t even know where to start!  I just know they truly adore each other.  They are planning a destination wedding and Hilary is a super planner.  She is organized and detail oriented — and Gavin is just as involved and supportive of everything she does.  There was a cute moment during their session where Hilary got a cut on her foot and he patiently helped her hold her shoe and wrapped her heel in a bandaid.  I thought that was so sweet and tender.  I love these photos from their session because they’re so playful and whimsical.  Can’t wait to see them again at their destination wedding in Palm Springs this Fall!

I’m super excited about blogging this maternity session I recently did because it was soooo cool!  In addition to photographing Jennifer’s baby shower – I also did her maternity photos!  Jennifer is so creative.  She wanted her photos to be different from the traditional maternity photos I normally do so she went all out and developed a vintage themed / Angelina & Brad inspired photo shoot!  Jennifer was absolutely glowing and looked so gorgeous in all of her photos.  I loved her choices of outfits and the variety of looks she pulled off.  From soft and feminine to bold and colorful — this session was truly a photographer’s dream to photograph.

Jennifer was so kind and graciously allowed me to share a few photos from her intimate session.  Again, she looks so stunning and ethereal in these photos but I’ve placed the remaining images under a cut (because they might be NSFW) so you’ll have to click to read more.

I recently photographed a sweet baby shower at Royal-T Cafe in Culver City and wanted to share the photos with you all.  Jennifer’s sister did an awesome job putting together the event.  I loved the  blue and green decor and fun games she organized.  Isn’t the event space amazing?  The restaurant is especially unique because it’s an art gallery/restaurant/cafe and bookstore!  If you’re ever in the West side — be sure to check it out!  The food looked absolutely decadent as well.  In the meantime, take a peek inside this adorable baby shower.

Nancy and Steve brought their dog to their engagement session!  OMG, I just about died when I saw how adorable and tiny he was.  Not only that but they also agreed to get cupcakes to snack on during the session.  Red velvet cupcakes and a cute little dog?  My idea of the perfect photo shoot.  :)
