It is a natural defense that prevents you from causing further damage to an affected area. After surgery the pain prevents you from doing things that could damage the surgical area. People who suffer from arthritis will often experience joint pain and stiffness to the affected joint. There are two types of arthritis pain; acute pain which temporary in nature and chronic pain which is either recurring or permanent.

Acute arthritis pain can flare up and last for a few hours or a few days. This type of pain becomes less intense as an area heals. Chronic arthritis pain is often severe and never goes away permanently. Chronic pain can often be controlled but is never cured. It is this type of pain that will often limit a person’s activities. With time and age, people who suffer from arthritis pain will probably see an increase in the pain as well as a decrease in daily activities.

The degree of arthritis pain will vary from one individual to the other. Some will only experience inflammation of the joints while other will also have inflammation of the tendons, which is known as tendonitis. People who develop tendonitis will experience more pain than those who only have joint pain. Often the amount of daily activity will affect the amount of pain one experiences.

Preparing For A Visit To The Doctor

People who have been diagnosed with arthritis will need to stay under the care of their doctor to help them control their symptoms. The more information you can provide your doctor the better he will be able to help you. Before your visit you need to keep a diary of your activities. This diary should include when you felt pain and the degree of that pain. Most doctors will ask you to rate your pain on a scale of 1 to 10. They will also ask you to describe you pain such as aching, stinging, burning, etc. Keep up with the times of day when your pain is worse. Also keep up with your diet and the foods you have eaten since some foods will trigger arthritis pain.

Your doctor will also want to know if anything helped ease the pain. Things such as ice packs, heat packs, or over the counter analgesics may help with pain reduction. By providing your doctor with a full picture of when and how the pain is occurring will help him understand what is going on and how best to treat it. Early treatment will provide you with the best chance of arthritis pain control as well as preventing joint damage.

With a proper arthritis diet, there is a better than even chance that you can keep yourself from becoming a victim of severe arthritis pain. Taking a diet that promotes arthritis is something that is an absolute no-no, though it is something that many people still continue taking. They should take care and avoid certain diets that are known to promote and even aggravate the arthritis condition.

Low Fiber Content Will Do You Good

If you persist with a diet that contains red meat, white flour as also dairy products and you also cannot refrain from eating junk food, don’t be surprised that your arthritis condition gets worse. An arthritis diet would generally have low fiber content and good examples of such an arthritis diet food include commercially produced red meat, sugar as also milk. Taking such an arthritis diet will ensure that such low fiber content does not flow through your digestive tract and thus will not aggravate the arthritis condition.

However, if you insist on eating saturated fats, you can expect more arthritis pain and worsening of your condition. Such saturated fats should not form part of an arthritis diet and are typically found in animal foods and are a known cause behind increased joint inflammation, and is known to cause stiffness and swelling of the joints. In addition, your diet should not have much acidic content as high levels of acidity are known to be a major reason why a person has arthritis.

Any arthritis diet should preferably contain fruits of alkaline nature as also vegetables, raw seeds, peas, nuts, grain and finally, fish. Taking these foods and incorporating them in your arthritis diet should help reduce the acidic condition and ease the pain and anguish that arthritis would otherwise cause.

That is not to say that there are not many detractors of the benefits of arthritis diet and many doctors doubt the positive effects of such a course of action on alleviating the problematic condition. Still, there is no denying the fact that diet can contribute positively to a person’s health and so, one would not be doing any harm in converting to an arthritis diet in a bid to improve one’s arthritic condition because weight as well as nutrition is important factors in arthritis.

So, a diet of vitamins, minerals, supplements, and also herbal applications may, in the end, prove to be successful in treating an arthritic condition and could well be incorporated in a good arthritis diet.

Persistent, aggrivating, and excruciating, arthritis is capable of reducing the quality of your life by hindering your everyday movements.

Arthritis prevention is reliant on an early diagnosis. Once you are diagnosed with arthritis, you should take steps towards arthritis prevention immediately to ensure that no further joint damage occurs. What basic habits can you change to prevent arthritis? It’s not as difficult as you might think.

Changing Your Life Style

Arthritis prevention requires changing certain aspects of your lifestyle. By simply adjusting your diet and amount of exercise, you can make a major leap toward preventing arthritis.

You diet is one aspect of your life that you should consider changing if you are trying to prevent arthritis. In studies completed by the University of Manchester, it was determined that those people who had a low intake of fruits and vegetables, predominantly those fruits and vegetables containing Vitamin C, had an increased risk of developing arthritis.

Even swapping out your usual can of Coke for a healthy dose of green tea can help with arthritis prevention. Studies have shown that the catechins found in green tea, which are also full of antioxidants, both slow down the breakdown of cartilage and reduce inflammation of the joints.

Another important lifestyle change you can make is increasing the amount of regular exercise you complete. Not only does regular exercise work to prevent arthritis by building and maintaining strong and healthy joints, but it can also help to decrease the pain and fatigue which are often associated with the disease.

Both increased exercise and a better diet will help with weight maintenance, which is another method of arthritis prevention. Maintaining a healthy weight can reduce the stress on your joints and can help to prevent arthritis from developing in your hips, hands, and knees.

Last Resort

Some people choose medical options in order to prevent arthritis. One such option is estrogen replacement therapy, which is proven to increase bone density and reduce bone loss. Some medicines commonly used to replace estrogen include Alendronate and Raloxifene.

Living Life To The Fullest

The prevention of arthritis might not be of concern you now. However, you never know if, ten years from now, you might be faced with the severe challenges and disappointments that accompany the disease. Don’t wait for that time to come; take the first steps towards arthritis prevention now!

Low level laser therapy has been shown to be effective in treating sprains and strains, carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, bursitis and a host of other problems. But just how does this space-age technology actually work? How do lasers heal?

Light has been used as a healing modality for centuries. The ancient Indians and Chinese used color to heal and it is an important part of Aurvedic healing. Sunlight has long been regarded as playing an important role in healing. Some cultures even worshiped the sun as a healer.

Lasers and sunlight are both forms of electromagnetic energy. Lasers produce what is known as monochromatic light. The first laser was developed by Theodore Maiman in the year 1960. Maiman was able to produce a red light that contained one frequency. Sunlight contains many frequencies of light. You can see the various frequencies of light by sending sunlight through a prism and observing the rainbow of colors. The colors correspond to the different frequencies.

Later in the 1960’s Dr. Endre Mester thought that malignant tumors in rats would not grow if they were exposed to low level laser light. To his disappointment the laser had no effect on the tumors and they continued to grow. However, all was not lost because he made an important observation. The skin incisions made in the rats healed faster. Like sunlight, tissue healing was stimulated with lower exposures while damage occurred with higher exposures. Mester’s work laid the foundation for the low level healing lasers we see today.

Lasers heal on a cellular level. The mechanism has similarities to photosynthesis in plants. Plants take energy in the form of sunlight and store it in a molecule called adenosine triphosphate or ATP. Lasers stimulate tiny structures inside cells to also produce ATP. The result is an increase in the cell’s function which can include facilitating healing systems such as decreasing inflammation and assembling components for repair.

If we look at healing with lasers and photosynthesis in terms of information exchanges we see more similarities. Plants use the information in light in order to maintain their complexity. In other words plants take sunlight and use it to build larger more organized molecules from simpler less organized molecules. If we see damaged cells as more disorganized than normal cells then lasers work by the same mechanism. Laser light is taken in by the disorganized damaged cell and helps the cell to become more organized. As cells increase their level of organization they heal. Light then can be seen as a source of healing information.

The future is bright for low level laser therapy as studies are underway investigating its effects on a variety of problems. Perhaps lasers can become finely tuned information sources that promote healing for many conditions. Maybe even someday they will be available as over the counter devices.

It can be very helpful to look for small satisfactions during the course of your working day, achieving small goals and giving your self a pat on the back in the process can really change your day and have the effect of easing the workload, rather than just hoping that at the end of your day that there will be one large one.

Setting small achievable goals, such as, dealing with a set number of emails or telephone calls can have the effect of really brightening your day because you actually feel as though you are making some serious progress. Each one of these smaller goals in turn rolls up to help you to achieve the greater goal, which is total completion of your allocated tasks. This can be an excellent source of great satisfaction for you and leaves you feeling as though your days labor has been very worthwhile and productive.

Stop dwelling on what you should have accomplished yesterday, yesterday is gone and you can’t bring it back no matter how much you might wish you could, concentrate on today, because whatever you do today shapes the course of your tomorrow.

Always be entirely true to yourself, don’t assume that you are perfect, but at the same time there is no benefit in being over harsh with yourself. Acknowledge that you are less than perfect, as are we all, but don’t punish yourself.

Look to someone you admire and if you look closely enough you will see that they also have their weaknesses and imperfections. No one is perfect, so don’t beat yourself up over it. Concentrate on what you do well and you will feel and be more successful in all your endeavors.

Using your time efficiently is the most effective way of dispelling any feelings of wastefulness you may have at the end of the day. Carefully plan your time, don’t waste it, it’s the most valuable asset you posses.

Allocate realistic deadlines for each task you have to carry out. Above all try not to under estimate the time required to complete a task as this is one of the major causes of work place stress and if not nipped in the bud early on can lead to serious bouts of depression.

Keeping a stress diary is a very good idea, keep a log of each days stressful encounters and go over it at the end of each day, analyze it and look at alternative ways to accomplish stressful tasks.

If certain duties appear too stressful for your comfort, break them down into smaller and more manageable tasks and you will be surprised at the speed with which you accomplish even the most unpleasant of jobs.

Be totally and completely honest with yourself in your diary, it’s only you that is going to see it, so there is no need to dress it up in any way. Don’t forget it’s for your eyes only, that is unless you wish to discuss it with your partner or a close friend. If you do decide to discuss your problems ensure that the person you choose is a trusted confidant, otherwise you may only serve to unnecessarily exasperate your situation.

Forward planning is the key to alleviating stress in the workplace, always put aside some quiet time to plan your next day in advance ensuring that you definitely allow yourself adequate time to accomplish all that you have to.

You will soon realize that what at first caused your stress levels to rise is in fact simply down to bad time planning and as you become more accustomed to keeping and dealing with your stress diary you will find that previously stressful situations can now easily be taken in your stride.

Continual daily stress can have devastating effects on both your work life and your home life. Remember it pays to divide the two. Where ever possible don’t take your work home, if this is unavoidable ensure that your family and friends are aware that you need to spend some time working and ask for their consideration so that you an complete the tasks more quickly.

Co-operation and not conflict is the key to handling stress, and setting aside some time for simple planning will allow you to achieve much more in the same amount of time, and your stress levels as well as your mental fatigue levels will be much lower, and you and all around you will be all the happier for it.

Water has wonderful restorative properties. It is a natural, fat free appetite suppressant that contains no calories and no cholesterol. It is low in sodium, helps the body metabolize fat, helps maintain skin and muscle tone, and improves energy levels.

Every physiological function depends on water. Water helps regulate body temperature, transports oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and antibodies; helps eliminate toxins and other wastes from the body; and lubricates your joints as well as your hair, skin, mouth, nose, and eyes.

Water protects organs and tissues; increases the efficiency of proteins and enzymes essential to metabolism; and relieves water retention (though it may seem counterintuitive, when you are retaining water, the best course of action is to drink more water, not less).

If you allow yourself to get dehydrated, every part of your body suffers. Dehydration has been linked to asthma and allergies, constipation and heartburn, hypertension and headaches, poor muscle tone, and inefficiencies in digestion, metabolism, and organ function.

Warning signs of dehydration include mental confusion, pain in the joints, stomach, and back, and low energy.

Keep your energy levels up, particularly after a workout, by making sure you get enough.

How much is enough?

Here is a good rule of thumb: drink one half of an ounce of water for each pound of body weight. So if you weigh 140 pounds, you need 70 ounces per day.

Keep in mind that your body needs 16 ounces of water before, 4 to 8 ounces every 20 minutes during, and 24 ounces following your workout.

As with most major lifestyle changes, check with your doctor before significantly changing your water intake. Certain medical conditions call for restricted or increased water consumption.

When you first begin to re hydrate, you may feel like you are spending all of your time in the bathroom. But within a few weeks, your body will adjust and you will urinate less frequently. Just avoid heavy water intake right before bed to avoid midnight trips to the bathroom, which can interfere with sleep patterns.

Here are some common excuses for not getting enough water:

1. “I am not thirsty.” You may notice that, when you drink more water, you find yourself thirsty, but when you live on caffeinated soda, you are not thirsty at all.

The truth is, thirst is not a good indicator of water deprivation. A lack of thirst may actually signal dehydration, and “dry mouth” thirst is a sign of extreme dehydration. When your body is deprived of water, it adjusts by disabling the body’s thirst sensor. Once you start hydrating yourself, thirst kicks in again.

2, “I do not like water.” Here are some tips for downing the day’s water:

Make it readily available. Keep a water bottle in your car and at your desk. Stash another bottle in your bag and carry it with you.

Liven up ordinary water with a squirt of lime or lemon juice. Sometimes, I add a splash of fruit juice to the water. Try to go easy on the juice, though. Most juices are high in sugar, which adds calories and stimulates the pancreas.

Purchase an inexpensive water filter, such as the Brita water filter. For about $30, you can enjoy great tasting water all the time. Plus, when you have cold, refreshing water ready in the fridge, you will be more likely to pour yourself a glass.

Find an elegant container. Every drink looks more refreshing in an elegant crystal goblet.

Know thyself. How is water made most appealing to you? Do you prefer an ice cold glass with fresh lemon slices? Then make sure it is easy to prepare.

Experiment. Put a glass mug in the freezer before bed or freeze a half filled water bottle, and fill it with water before you go out for the day. Then enjoy the cold water as the ice thaws.

When you are properly hydrated, you will experience an energy boost and you may find that you eat less, too.

These are serious illnesses that can lead to irreparable damage to different organs in your body and can even result in death in some extreme cases.

Those at risk to contract them are generally those who have a weakened immune system, small children, the elderly, and anyone whose body is weak, such as a person who is undergoing chemotherapy or is recovering from a recent surgery. Mold contaminated surgical instruments can also transmit these diseases if they are not properly sterilized

Most of the diseases that are caused by mold begin with some flu-like symptoms like coughing, pain in the joints and muscles, fever, and chills. The medications used to treat these conditions can cause the very same symptoms that the disease does and can also end up causing some kidney, liver, skin, and eye damage if their usage is not monitored.

Any doctor that prescribes such antifungal medication will probably require frequent lab work to be done on the patient to catch these side effects before they get out of hand.

Aspergillosis is a disease that are caused by molds belonging to the genus of Aspergillus and these molds are typically found not only outdoors, but can also be found indoors, as well. They have been known to produce what are called aspergilloma in any pre-existing cavity in the body such as those arising from cancer, cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, or similar conditions.

Aspergilloma often have no symptoms for quite a while, but when they do finally show themselves, they can include coughing up blood, weight loss, fever, and shortness of breath.

Another condition that commonly affects our pets (but can also affect humans) is called Blastomycosis. This disease can cause pneumonia and other kinds of respiratory infections in humans and animals and can spread to the rest of the body.

When the mold spores enter the body, they become yeast and since yeast itself is not contagious, you should not worry about your pet giving it to you if they are showing signs of it. The cutaneous form of the disease shows itself as lesions on the skin of the body and if they are left moist and untreated, it can cause much damage to the surrounding bone and tissue.

These are only two of the diseases that can be caused by mold. There are others that are just as serious. If you suspect a mold infestation in your home, perform some do-it-yourself mold tests and have the results determined by a laboratory specializing in mold.

They are a fact of life, but not everyone is anxious to be referred to as looking distinguished. In fact, the battle against the signs of aging consumes a large portion of each day for many people. There are remedies abound, and it seems as though every expert has a different opinion about how to deal with this threat to our once youthful appearance that we would like desperately to maintain. As in any conflict, to gain an upper hand you have to have the right weapons.

In recent years modern science and technology may have finally caught up with Father Time, as we have more ways than ever to combat the advent of wrinkles. Wrinkles can occur for a number of reasons, and they come in different varieties.

For the most part we can define wrinkles by placing them into two categories; Static wrinkles or dynamic wrinkles. Static wrinkles are always there. They are truly the result of the passage of time, and often deepen as we get older. Dynamic wrinkles are the result of facial movements, which would include smiling, frowning, moving our brow, or squinting our eyes.

Different problems require different solutions, and fortunately there are now a variety of options at hand to help deal with wrinkles. One of the most popular solutions for fine lines and wrinkles is Botox.

Botox is a pharmaceutical product manufactured by Allergan, Inc. that is injected into the facial muscles by a physician or medical professional. The purpose of Botox is to serve as a neuron-toxin to interrupt the signals sent through the nervous system to indicate to a muscle that it should contract. If the muscle does not receive the message, then the muscle does not move.

Less movement means fewer wrinkles. Botox presents a temporary resolution to the problem, and follow-up or maintenance treatments are required about every four to six months on average.

Static lines or wrinkles are a different story. Static lines do not move, and are typically the result of a decreased density of collagen in the skin. Collagen is what makes the skin soft, supple and elastic. If there is not enough collagen in an area, we can simply put more in.

This procedure is known as the introduction of a dermal filler. A dermal filler is either a natural or, more often, a synthetic product that is injected into the skin to fill a void. Products used as dermal fillers include natural or synthetic collagen and hyaluronic acids, such as the brand name products Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and more.

Some people, however, flat out do not like the idea of needles or the sound of the word neuron-toxin, which can be a bit intimidating. Fortunately there are alternatives. Traditional skin care products that are designed to rejuvenate the skin are commonplace and have been around for years. These products can certainly be helpful, but they are not going to offer the same impact or effect as more significant services or procedures.

Topical skin care products are, however, always a great way to maintain the health and appearance of the skin. If you are seeking a significant cosmetic enhancement without the use of needles or surgery, then an energy based technology treatment, such as a laser, is the way to go.

There are emerging laser technologies that now allow skin care professionals the opportunity to actually stimulate the growth of your own natural collagen to increase the overall collagen density, thus resulting in the elimination of wrinkles and a substantial rejuvenation effect. These services are commonly offered by many of your local medical spas, so visit a medspa directory today to find one near you. The future is here, so lets get rid of the signs of the past.

However, is a penis enlargement surgery necessary is the surgery safe?

Penis enlargement surgery is also known as penis augmentation or penile enhancement surgery. Almost all men, if not all, will have experienced some anxiety about the size or appearance of their penises. For most men, these feelings will pass and fade away, however for others, they can be persistent and even be downright distressing. This is because men with small penises perceive that their manhood is compromised.

Concerns about the look of a man’s penis can lead to avoidance of sexual relationships and activities which other people might see him in nude. Such men are not only embarrassed by the apparent smallness of their penis, but frequently also feel ashamed about their anxiety too. This is why many men will look for ways to enlarge their penis.

Penis enlargement surgeries consist of two surgical procedures. It done to either increase the girth of the penis or to increase the length of the penis. It is common for patients to have both penis enlargement surgeries done at the same time.

Increasing the girth of the penis relies on fat cells being transplanted or injected around the penis. However it is unlike a liposuction procedure where fat cells are being sucked out. This surgical procedure is known as fat transfer so as to bulk up the penis.

The problem is that the transplanted fat cells will feel soft. Furthermore, increases in the girth size of the penis achieved in this procedure can often be reversed as the fat cells can be re-absorbed into the body. To some penis enlargement patients, the re-absorption of the injected fat is uneven and the penis is left looking out of shape and lumpy.

However, by using the dermal transfer, fat re-absorption problem can be circumvented. Dermal transfer uses strips of skin and fat together in the transplant surgery. The skin stops the fat from being re-absorbed into the body. As dermal transfer procedure requires strips of skin and fat to be grafted onto the penis, it is more complicated and the risk of disfigurement is even higher.

The tissue in the penis that fills with blood, especially during an erection is called the corpora cavernosa. This tissue normally extends from the penis back into the body. In some cases, as much as up to 50% of the corpora cavernosa may be inside the body and thus cannot be visibly seen.

Penis lengthening surgery will render the release the concealed tissue which has the effect of increasing the length of the penis. Releasing the concealed part of the penis is done by cutting the suspensory ligaments that keep the corpora cavernosa anchored within the body.

This will release the hidden in the body part of the penis forward so achieving additional penis length outside the body that is visible. This penis lengthening surgery can result in substantial flaccid penis size lengthening although sometimes only achieving only a small increase in length of the penis during an erection.

The side effect of this penis lengthening surgery is that the ligament is no longer anchored to the pubic bone and so the penis can be said to be in a floating and loose condition. If the penis is flaccid then there will usually not be any problems. However if the penis is erect then several complications may happen.

Since the penis is floating loose from the pubic bone, the erect penis can slip and shift around during sex. Without the ligament to hold it, erections can actually point downwards or sideways. Today, through more sophisticated surgical techniques, this condition can be minimized.

Although penis enlargement surgery technique has improved, many surgeons will not recommend penis enlargement surgery to their patients because of the inherent risks it carries.

Most allergy symptoms can be seen from spring to the late fall because the majority of allergies can be attributed to grasses, pollens, and different kinds of mold. Most grasses, flowers, and molds cannot grow during the winter time.

Even though some types of mold can withstand cold temperatures, most cannot continue to live in temperatures that are below freezing, though they can lie dormant for quite a long time. If they are allowed to thaw, they can be just as live and dangerous as before they were frozen.

Unfortunately, not all places in the world are touched by freezing temperatures and so mold often grows year round, affecting not only the allergies, but also the general health of the people who live in a building infected by it.

The allergy symptoms caused by mold can be anything from sneezing to runny noses to skin rashes. Perennial allergic rhinitis can also be brought about by the presence of mold, however mold usually causes allergy symptoms only when it is present in a fairly high amount.

Mold allergy symptoms are often made worse by the consumption of any kind of food that has been made with a fungus such as mushrooms or even foods like bread and beer. Cheese made with mold, particularly bleu cheese, can also bring about the occurrence of these symptoms.

Compared to the number of species of mold on the planet, there are not too many kinds of it that are highly allergenic, but there are a few dozen. Cladosporium, Alternaria, and Penicillium are three kinds of molds that tend to cause many allergic reactions. Penicillium is the only genus that has both a medicine and a disease named after it, however.

If you have allergies, something that you probably do on a regular basis is watch for the grass, pollen, and mold spore counts that appear on the news every day.

These are important to pay attention to because if you are elderly or have a small child who is allergic, going out into a day when there is a high count of anything you may be allergic to could be either an irritating day or end up aggravating your allergy until you need to go to the hospital. Severe allergic reactions are rare, but they can happen.
