Update dan Perbaikan penting AVG 8.0

Setelah mendapat berbagai keluhan dari penggunanya mengenai AVG 8.0, akhirnya AVG Antivirus merilis update program terbarunya, yaitu AVG 8.0.130 – SP1. Versi ini baru ada untuk versi profesional (~~AVG Free Edition masih belum, mungkin sebentar lagi~~). Di versi ini terdapat banyak perbaikan yang selama ini banyak dikeluhkan user.

Bagi yang sudah pernah menggunakan AVG 8.0 dan sebelumnya menggunakan AVG 7.5, pasti merasa perubahan yang cukup signifikan, dan mungkin merasa banyak kekurangan/kelemahan, disamping kelebihan yang ada. Nah, baru saja dirilis program update untuk versi 8.0 dengan berbagai perbaikan dan peningkatan. Apa saja ?

Perbaikan-perbaikan AVG 8.0.130 – SP1 (Rilis 20 Juni 2008)

Pembuatan ulang proses komunikasi internal program untuk menghilangkan tampilan status program ( hibernation, sleep mode, cold restart dan lainnya)
Menampilkan icon di system tray ketika menjalankan scan, dan bisa di pause atau di stop dan klik kanan
Opsi baru ditambahkan untuk mengabaikan status komponen melalui klik kanan di tampilan utama AVG, sehingga icon di system tray tidak menampilkan peringatan lagi
Penambahan tab (window) baru jika ditemukan rootkit hasil scan
System restore point dibuat sebelum melakukan update program
Menambahkan opsi baru untuk verifikasi koneksi server admin di Program advanced settings
Perbaikan pemrosesan file EML ( Outlook Express Email Message ) termasuk scanning mailbox user
Optimalisasi kebutuhan memori (RAM)
Peningkatan statistik hasil deteksi di Email Scanner dan Resident shield
Design baru pop-up window di system tray dan disediakan informasi tambahan
Untuk mencegah konflik dengan sistem operasi, hanya di install driver minimum dalam safe mode; kemudian dimungkinkan untuk menjalankan on-demmand scanning hanya dari command line, dan menu dialog tampilan baru disediakan untuk mempermudah konfigurasi scan
Penambahan opsi untuk mengembalikan file di virus vault ke folder aslinya, meski foldernya sudah di remove/dihapus
Penambahan opsi untuk menghapus History Email scanner dan Resident Shield
Peningkatan stabilitas dan design antarmuka (GUI)
Peningkatan akses tampilan dengan keyboard
Perbaikan bug yang tidak kompatibel dengan beberapa screenreader, seperti JAWS.

Setelah mencoba sendiri (versi Trial 30 hari) memang AVG versi ini lebih baik dari versi 8.0 rilis sebelumnya, baik penggunaan memori, CPU, status komponen yang dengan mudah diabaikan tanpa tanda/icon “warning”, antarmuka yang lebih cepat dan lainnya. Bagaimana dengan AVG 8.0 Free Edition ?

~~Untuk AVG Free Edition sepertinya harus menunggu beberapa waktu sebelum dirilis program update ini, seperti sebelumnya. Mendeteksi dan mematikan sumber virus secara manual

Beberapa waktu lalu komputer adik saya terkena virus yang cukup menjengkelkan. Antivirus yang terpasang tidak mampu mendeteksi, update pun gagal sampai install ulang Antivirus juga tidak berhasil. Akhirnya saya mencoba mematikan virus secara manual dengan bantuan programAutoruns.

Bagi yang belum punya program ini bisa download Autoruns.zip (576 KB), yang bisa dianggap program “wajib” bagi saya.

Cara berikut mungkin hanya salah satu dari berbagai metode yang ada dan yang biasa saya gunakan. Secara garis besar, saya membagi cara mematikan sumber virus secara manual tanpa antivirus ini kedalam dua langkah, yaitu : Mendeteksi sumber virus atau file yang mencurigakan (dianggap virus) dan Cara Mematikannya.

Langkah Pertama, Mendeteksi Virus

Sebagian besar komputer yang terinfeksi, bisa diketahui sumber virus yang aktif di komputer dengan program seperti Autoruns. Jalankan program autoruns.exe. Jika program tidak berjalan, coba rename file autoruns.exe dengan nama lainnya. Jika tetap gagal, bisa menggunakan program sejenis lainnya.

Setelah Autoruns dibuka, bagian yang terpenting disini dan akan digunakan adalah tab Logon, karena disinilah ditampilkan berbagai program (aplikasi) yang berjalan otomatis ketika kita menjalankan windows.

Adanya tanya cek menunjukkan bahwa program tersebut aktif dan otomatis dijalankan ketika Start Up Windows (Windows dijalankan). Jika tidak ada tanda cek, menunjukkan bahwa program tersebut sebenarnya ada dalam daftar start up, tetapi tidak otomatis berjalan ketika Start Up Windows.

Program Windows yang HARUS AKTIF

Ada beberapa program penting Windows di daftar Autorun yang harus aktif, jangan sampai tanda cek-nya dihilangkan atau bahkan dihapus. Biasanya letaknya ada di bagian paling atas, yaitu :

Alasan kenapa program tersebut jangan dihapus (perlu diaktifkan), bisa dibaca artikel Tips mendeteksi keberadaan Virus. Untuk memastikannya, yang perlu diperhatikan adalah “Autorun Entry” dan “Image Path”, terkadang virus menyerupakan dengan nama tersebut. Image Path adalah lokasi file-nya, jika namanya seperti diatas, tetapi lokasinya di folder lain, maka perlu di waspadai.

Mencari Sumber Virus

Berikut beberapa point yang bisa dilakukan untuk mencari sumber virus atau file mencurigakan yang dianggap sebagai virus :

Periksa akan adanya Autorun Entry (daftar program) yang kita merasa tidak pernah menginstallnya. Misalnya saya pernah melihat ada yang namanya ffdshow.exe dengan lokasi (Image Path) C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec Pack\, padahal di komputer tersebut tidak pernah di install program K-Lite Codec Pack. Maka kemungkinan itu salah satu sumber virus. Hal ini sering terjadi, misalnya ada aplikasi dengan folder Corel Draw, tetapi kita tidak pernah menginstall Corel Draw.
Hilangkan tanda cek dari Autorun Entry yang mencurigakan, kemudian klik icon Refresh (F5). Jika tanda cek tersebut kembali aktif atau muncul daftar entry baru yang sama dan disertai tanda cek, kemungkinan itu adalah sumber virus. Cara ini terkadang harus ditunggu beberapa saat, atau aplikasi Autoruns di tutup dulu, kemudian setelah beberapa lama dibuka lagi untuk memeriksanya.
Dari daftar Program Windows yang HARUS AKTIF sebelumnya, periksa akan adanya program lainnya di ketiga tempat yang saya beri garis merah. Pada Windows XP, seharusnya hanya ada 3 file diatas, yaitu rdpclip, userinit.exe dan explorer.exe dengan lokasi persis seperti Image Path diatas. Adanya tambahan lainnya menunjukkan kemungkinan sumber virus. Cek dengan point ke-2
Sumber virus biasanya tidak hanya satu, sehingga perlu dicari daftar Autorun lainnya yang mencurigakan, baik dengan cara seperti point 1 atau 2. Misalnya di lokasi :
- HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
- HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- Dan lainnya, yang berada di bawah dari daftar Program Windows yang HARUS AKTIF di atas.

Setelah diperoleh daftar-daftar file yang mencurigakan atau tidak dikenal, tulis nama dan lokasi filenya yang bisa dilihat dari keterangan Image Path (program Autoruns) di kertas atau file text (misalnya dengan Notepad). Bagi yang belum terbiasa mungkin dafarnya akan banyak sekali. Tetapi hal ini tidak masalah

Menghapus daftar dari Autoruns tersebut hanya menghapus referensinya saja, jadi filenya (lokasinya disebutkan di bagian “Image Path”) tidak akan terhapus

Mematikan Sumber Virus

Setelah didapat daftar file-file yang mencurigakan, langkah selanjutnya adalah me-rename ekstensi file tersebut (jangan dihapus terlebih dahulu). Me-rename dari windows biasanya tidak akan berhasil, atau kadang kita tidak tahu ekstensi file tersebut dan tidak bisa ditampilkan

Cara yang biasanya selalu berhasil adalah melalui media lain. Misalnya menjalankan sistem Operasi langsung dari CD,DVD, atau Flashdisk. Misalnya CD Linux, CD Windows MiniPE, UBCD4Win dan lainnya. Atau bisa juga kita melepas Hardisk kita dan dipasang di komputer lainnya (yang bebeas virus) sebagai Hardisk kedua (secondary). Intinya agar kita bisa mengakses (membuka) file dan folder dari daftar yang kita tulis tanpa mengaktifkan Windows yang ada di hardisk, sehingga virus tidak bisa aktif.

Setelah kita bisa booting komputer dari media lain atau memasang hardisk di komputer lainnya, selanjutnya kita mencari file-file dari daftar yang telah kita buat. Sebelumnya aktifkan opsi untuk menampilkan semua ekstensi file jika belum kelihatan. Setelah itu, rename semua ekstensi file yang kita dapatkan. Misalnya nama_file.exe menjadi nama_file.exe.vir, viruz.dll menjadiviruz.dll.vir.

Setelah selesai semua, saatnya dicoba komputer tersebut ( kembali mengaktifkan windows). Periksa lagi dengan program Autoruns. Jika daftar yang kita tulis kembali muncul dan disertai tanda cek, atau masih muncul tanda-tanda komputer terinfeksi virus, mungkin ada beberapa program lain yang terlewatkan. Kadang kita harus mencoba beberapa kali. Jika komputer tidak berjalan, kemungkinan ada dafar file yang salah yang kita sertakan. Coba rename kembali file tersebut ke asalnya (hilangkan ekstensi *.vir)

Setelah berhasil dan tidak ada tanda-tanda virus berjalan, perlu diingat bahwa kita hanya mematikan sumber-sumber virus dan kemungkinan masih banyak virus di komputer. Langkah selanjutnya bisa dilakukan dengan melakukan scan dengan antivirus + update terbaru untuk mencari virus-virus yang masih ada di komputer. Dan ini mungkin harus menunggu sampai antivirus mampu mendeteksi virus tersebut.

Cara diatas biasa saya gunakan ketika antivirus tidak mampu mendeteksi adanya virus dan biasanya berhasil. Dan pengalaman juga ikut membantu keberhasilan menemukan sumber virus ini. Test Antivirus Terbaik 2009 versi PC Security Labs

Satu lagi lembaga Independen mengetes berbagai produk antivirus. Setelah sebelumnya pernah di bahas hasil test berbagai antivirus oleh av-test.org dan av-comparatives, kali ini kita akan melihat antivirus terbaik berdasarkan tes dari PC Security Labs, yang berasal dari China.

Metode yang digunakan oleh PC Security Labs dalam pengetesan (Total Protection Testing), mencakup dua hal : Malware Defense Testing dan False Positive Testing.

Malware Defense Testing merupakan kombinasi static testing (test langsung dengan file virus, berdasarkan database virus) dan dinamic testing (berdasarkan tingkah laku virus, dengan menjalankan virus di komputer). Test ini menggunakan daftar malware ( virus, trojan, worm, rootkit, spyware dll ) bulanan yang berjumlah 2000-an lebih dan telah dipilih sesuai dengan kategori masing-masing.

Sedangkan False positive Testing merupakan test untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kesalahan antivirus mendeteksi file yang bersih ( bebas virus, kadang dianggap sebagai virus atau mengandung virus). Disini disediakan sample sekitar 1000 file yang merupakan file yang “bersih”, bukan virus.

PC Security Labs mengadakan test antivirus setiap bulan, dan karena terbilang baru, maka produk yang di test belum selengkap lembaga pengetes lainnya. Pengetesan dilakukan dengan “mengundang” vendor-vendor antivirus untuk bergabung. Jika mereka setuju atau bersedia produknya ditest, maka antivirus tersebut akan disertakan.

Test I PC Security Labs : Januari 2009

Test pertama Tahun 2009 ini dilakukan pada 2 Januari 2009 dan ada 12 vendor antivirus yang diikutisertakan dalam test. Dengan jumlah sample malware 2255 yang berbeda ( meliputi : Trojan, virus, backdoor, worm dan Rootkit) juga 1000 “clean files”. Hasilnya sebagai berikut :

Test II PC Security Labs : Februari 2009

Test Kedua dilakukan pada 10 Februari 2009, ada tambahan satu vendor, yaitu TrustPort PC Security 2009. Test ini menyertakan 2022 sample malware yang berbeda. Hasilnya sebagai berikut :

Memang terlihat beberapa vendor Antivirus belum ikut serta dalam test tersebut, seperti AVG, Avast, Norton, Eset NOD32, McAfee dan lainnya. Semoga test berikutnya semakin banyak yang ikut serta, sehingga bisa menjadi informasi tambahan untuk memilih antivirus yang akan digunakan.

Show Hidden Files and Folders

Show Hidden Files and Folders not working?..... If we selecte the radio button “Show hidden files and folders” and then press Ok.. the changes would just disappear upon opening the dialog again. It was probably some virus attack after which the Windows registry was not being updated properly. So here is what methods to restore it back. There are so many methods to restore back the registry. If one method is not working, please try another one.

Method 1:

Go to registry editor by running regedit in the run box.
Go to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

In the right hand area, double click hidden and change the value to 1.

Now you’re all set to go. Check it in your tools menu if the changes have taken effect.
Method 2:

1. Click “Start” -> “Run…” (or press Windows key + R)
2. Type “regedit” and click “Ok”.
3. Find the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
4. Look at the “CheckedValue” key… This should be a DWORD key. If it isn’t, delete the key.
5. Create a new key called “CheckedValue” as a DWORD (hexadecimal) with a value of 1.
6. The “Show hidden files & folders” check box should now work normally. Enjoy!
Method 3:

1- Click Start –> Run –> regsvr32 /i browseui.dll –> enter

A confirmation message will appear like given below

2- Click Start –> Run –> regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Wait for the confirmation and click OK.

To complete the various test results by drowning, AV-Test.org before, this time we see the test results from AV-Comparatives (independent institution that is also a test antivirus) recently. Av-Comparatives a test form: on-demand detection (test with a direct sample virus scan), False Alarm, Speed Test and Proactive test.

5. Be on guard!

Safeguard your personal information, receipts, car keys and your purse/wallet, during any face-to-face meetings to avoid thievery, tampering, identity theft or credit card fraud. Never share any of your passwords: for email, social networking sites or the online dating service. Make sure your passwords have nothing to do with real words, your name or date of birth, or could otherwise be guessed from someone who knows you.

There’s also a scam to be aware of: it doesn’t happen too often, but sometimes members of these services get matched with other members who are essentially con men or con women. These unscrupulous people usually tell a tale of being on an overseas business trip and being stranded. They request that money be sent to them to help them get home. Don’t fall for it! And be sure to report it to the service you are using.

6. Use a wing-man or wing-woman.

Tell someone what you are doing. When you are ready for a face-to-face meeting, make sure you let someone you know where you are going and who you are meeting. You can also set up a "safety call". This is when you ask a good, reliable friend to call your cell phone about 30-45 minutes into the date. Establish a special codeword with your buddy that allows you to create a reason or conversation that makes it sound like you need to end the date for an emergency or urgent matter. Make sure your “situation” isn’t one the date might offer to help you with (such as your dog got out of the yard, or the friend has a flat tire. A work-related problem, like a conference call that has just been set up, might work for you!) And since no one likes a liar, let’s save these “escape” plans for a real problem meeting you need to escape from, not just a dull evening or boring conversation.

7. Guard your phone and phone number!

When you first contact someone from the dating site, use a payphone or a disposable, pre-paid cell phone or block your telephone's caller ID (by dialing *67 before dialing). Find ways to prevent sharing your real phone number with a new contact until you are feeling comfortable and confident they won't abuse the privilege. 8. Just say “NO!”

Block anyone who seems "off", creepy or abusive. Dating is supposed to be fun and potentially romantic! There should be plenty of people around. Make sure you park in a very public, well lit area in the event that they want to walk you to your car.

9. Keep a copy.

Just like in your regular life, you need to keep records. Keep copies of emails, and other messages from the people you meet. Don’t count on the service you are using to know who you are meeting and what they are saying. If a conflict comes up, you need to be looking out for you!

10. Online security still counts.

When you are online dating, your computer is suddenly the gatekeeper to your social life. You want to make sure your computer stays in tip-top shape, protected no matter what new websites you are visiting, or the new people you are coming into contact with. Some of the most common online threats are spread through email and instant messaging. Make sure you don't let your guard down and fall for a phishing attack in spam email or click a link in either email or an instant message. Don't download files - even if an alert comes up on the site - without double-checking to see if it is real. Use internet security software (and keep it updated) so you are protected whenever you are online.

Pendahuluan
Suatu saat kita pernah mendengar tentang sepak terjang virus, virus computer jangan
dianalogikan seperti layaknya kuman atau bakteri yang hidup, namun virus adalah suatu kode
tertentu yagn dibuat dengan suatu metode bahasa pemrograman (umumnya C). kode program
ini biasa disebut Kode Jahat/Perusak (Malicious Codes).
Kode jahat/perusak (malicious codes atau disingkat malcodes) didefinisikan sebagai semua
macam program, makro atau script yang dapat diesekusi dan dibuat dengan tujuan untuk
merusak sistem komputer. Oleh karena itu bug yang dibuat secara tidak sengaja oleh
programer, tidak termasuk dalam kategori ini. Tetapi untuk bug yang benar-benar mengganggu,
banyak orang mengkategorikannya sebagai malcode.
Malcodes ini memang dibuat untuk menjangkiti atau menulari suatu computer dengan
mempelajari suatu metode di system computer, tujuannya untuk menggangu system tersebut.
Setelah berhasil menulari system virus akan berusahan untuk menempel pada bagian yang
terinfeksi saat ini banyak sekali virus yang dapat mengelabui anti virus dan virus dapat seakan-
akan berpikiri sendiri.
Menurut informasi dari Symantech sampai saat ini telah ditemukan sebanyak 60.0000 an virus,
worm dan code jahat. Makanya dalam perkembangannya sampai pada akhirnya Malcodes ini
disebut sebagai virus yang kerjanya membuat hidup orang tidak nyaman…
Varian
Dalam perkembangannya virus sangat cepat sekali, Kode perusak ini dapat digolongkan dalam 3
macam golongan: virus, worm dan Trojan Horses, serta beberapa program yang memiliki bug.
•
Virus, Virus memiliki kemampuan jahat untuk mereproduksi diri mereka sendiri dan terdiri
dari kumpulan kode yang dapat memodifikasi target kode yang sedang berjalan, atau dapat
pula memodifikasi struktur internal target kode, sehingga target kode sebelum berjalan
dipaksa menjalankan virus.
•Virus sering menampilkan pesan yang tidak disukai, merusak tampilan display, menghapus
memory C-MOS, merusak informasi dalam hard disk dll. Efek yang ditimbulkan virus
mengalami perkembangan yang cukup serius akhir-akhir ini. Contoh virus: Brain, Ohe half,
Die hard, XM/Laroux, Win95/CIH ,
•Worm, Worm ditujukan kepada program yang mengkopi dirinya sendiri ke HANYA memory
komputer. Perbedaan mendasar dari worm dan virus adalah, apakah menginfeksi target
code atau tidak. Virus menginfeksi target code, tetapi worm tidak. Worm hanya tinggal di
memory.
•Worm dapat dengan cepat memperbanyak diri dan biasanya dilakukan pada media LAN atau
Internet, resources jaringan yang terinfeksi akan habis bandwidthnya dibanjiri oleh worm
yang akan mengakibatkan melambatnya aliran data. Contoh worm: I-Worm/Happy99(Ska),
I-Worm/ExploreZIP, Sobig, Nimda, Code Red, Sircam.

2•Worm umumnya berbentuk file executable (berekstensi .EXE atau .SCR), yang terlampir
(attach) pada email. Namun demikian, ada beberapa jenis worm yang berbentuk script
yang ditulis dalam bahasa Visual Basic (VBScript).
•Trojan Horse diproduksi dengan tujuan jahat. Konsep yang digunakan seperti pada zaman
romawi kuno, Berbeda dengan virus, Trojan Horse tidak dapat memproduksi diri sendiri.
Pada umumnya, mereka dibawa oleh utility program lainnya. Utility program tersebut
mengandung dirinya, atau Trojan Horse itu sendiri ber"lagak" sebagai utility program.

Kasus Virus
Ada banyak sekali cerita dan kasus yang disebabkan oleh virus, worm ataupun Trojan.
Contohnya kasus virus macro yang menjangkiti doc Microsoft word. Virus CIH yang dibuat untuk
merusak system BIOS, virus ini diperkirakan telah merusak ribuan computer didunia.
Virus Mail My Love yang menggegerkan dunia Kasus Worm tercatat yang paling banyak
ditemukan, contoh kasus terbesar yaitu Worm Nimda, Sircam dan Code Red dengan variannya
yang membuat macem situs dan jaringan LAN perusahaan didunia, dimana worm tersebut
melakukan komunikasi palsu yang menyebabkan jaringan tersendat. Nimda merupakan
kebalikan dari Admin.
Di awal 2003 ini, virus worm Slammer hanya membutuhkan waktu 10 menit untuk membuat
chaos pengguna internet. Dalam menit pertama penyebarannya, jumlah virus Slammer berlipat
dua kali setiap 8,5 detik. Kecepatannya jauh di atas worm Code Red - yang menyebar 18 bulan
lalu - yang berlipat dua setiap 37 menit.
Sobig dengan variannya yang telah membuat beberapa ISP dunia macet karena banjirnya
badwidth yang anomaly, dimana worm tersebut melakukan pengiriman code secara simultan
lewat email dengan membaca semua alamat email kita yang ada di outlook express.
Seperti juga penyakit yang kita kenal, pastilah virus computer ini mempunyai cara untuk
menulari computer ?
Yap benar sekali, sebelumnya saya ingin mengambarkan cara kerja Worm. Cerdik karena ia
mampu mengelabui scanning heuristic antivirus dan tidak terlalu ganas.Worm biasanya
Menyebar melalui Email, Menyebar melaui network, dan Menyebar melalui IIS seperti BlueCode
/ Code Red.
Ada banyak cara sebuah MalCodes ini menginfeksi computer korban, diantaranya
•Disk, media satu ini yang sering menularkan virus, kita memindahkan file-file dari computer
lain tanpa kita lakukan scanning dulu. Mungkin saja file dari luar sudah terinfeksi.
•Email, dengan metode attachement sebuah virus dapat menulari computer setelah
attachment email kita buka, biasanya virus disusupkan dengan file lain layaknya sebuah file
biasa atau gambar
•Download, biasanya kita mendownload software-software dari internet, apalagi
mendownload dari situs yang tidak terkanal, kemungkinan sangat besar kita dapat terkena
jenis virus worm atau Trojan
Ciri-ciri terinfeksi Virus
Wah ada banyak sih gejala-gejalanya, biasanya jika virus sudah menginfeksi dampak
langsungnya adalah file kita yang rusak atau hilang entah kemana, virus dapat mengatur
computer kita atau menggangu system operasi misalnya melakukan restart, sering terjadi crash
atau hang, kinerja atau performa pc yang sangat lambat.
