Cricket always had been one of the most favorite sports in our country Nepal. Nepal pulled a six-wicket victory over Thailand in the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship Cricket Tournament on Friday to complete title hat-trick at Hubara Ground, Kuwait. Nepal had earlier lifted the title in 2008 and 2010.

Nepal is the only team to remain undefeated in all three editions of the tournament taking its winning streak to 19 matches in the ACC tournament.

Winning the toss Nepal invited Thailand to bat first on Friday and restricted them in just 74 runs off 22.4 overs. Nepal crossed the target after the completion of the 21st over with the loss of four wickets.

Player-of-the-match Nepali skipper Rubina Chhetri grabbed three wickets in her 4.4 overs conceding only seven runs. Sangeeta Gauchan grabbed two wickets in her five over spell conceding 16 runs.

Thailand skipper Nattakan Chantam, who was dominating Nepali, was back to the pavilion in the 12th over in spinner Gauchan’s bowling. Chantam scored 22 runs and also shared a-24 runs partnership for the third wicket with Phira-on Khamla.

Chasing the total of 75 runs, Nepal did not start well. Nepal lost its both openers — Anuradha Chaudhary and Droupati Kunwar — on ducks by the second over of the innings. Indu Barma and Kavita Gautam shared a-17 runs partnership for the third wicket. Gautam was out scoring three runs while Barma (6 runs) was caught behind in Phira-on Khamla bowling. Nepal had scored 19 runs in seven overs losing four wickets.

Skipper Chhetri and Mamata Chaudhary shared a 56-run partnership for the fifth wicket. They faced 89 balls to set the partnership. Chhetri was not out with 24 runs off 45 balls with two boundaries while Chaudhary remained unbeaten on 21 runs off 43 balls with a boundary.

Chhetri also received player-of-the-tournament award for her all-round performance in the championship. Chhetri took 13 wickets and scored 71 runs playing all the six matches that Nepal had played in the tournament

Sometime it’s really difficult to understand peoples mind and thinking. We go to different places meet different kinds of people. We can’t figure it out what they are up to, it’s quite complicated procedure. Sometime we may misjudge about them for e.g. they are just caring you as a friend but you may think they really take you as someone special in your life. Most of the people will just listen what they want to hear and make the illusionary world of their own. Some time we forget to read between lines. It’s our own confusion that leads to painful results. Some time some people can create the misunderstanding. Their facial expression, body language and their way of talking and caring may results in such misunderstanding. It’s our own responsibility to avoid such confusions, however it’s really difficult to judge people just by how they look, behave and sound. In my personal opinion, the best way to know people is to spend good quality of time instead of spending longer periods. Person’s feeling and their behavior can be somewhat known by looking into their eyes. It is said eyes are the mirror of the heart.
I am not sure if this saying is really true, because in this era of 21st century people’s perspective have changed a lot. Some of them choose money, career over their love. However, the most important thing in this life is to express the feeling of love. Never stop loving each other, nature and every living creature as this beautiful world is creation of love. I have a heard a phrase as its better to be love and left than never be loved. This is the month of February, month of romance, expressions and love. It is said this is the best month of the year. Obviously, to express your feeling there is no boundary of time but this month is chosen by many to do so. Please express your feeling and shine your light upon someone you admire as time and tides waits for none. I would like to dedicate you all the beautiful song by Rihana: We found Love. Enjoy the romantic month of February.

The Berlin International Film Festival is one of the top most prestigious film festivals in world. The Berlin International Film Festival well known as the Berlinale is an annual Film festivals celebrated to provide a common platform to World Cinema artistic and technical peoples for achieving excellence in their respective fields. The Berlin International Film Festival was established in the year of 1951. The first Berlin International Film Festival was held in Berlin, Germany. This world class film festivals generally takes place in the month of Feb at Berlin. The 2012 Berlin International Film Festival will be the 62nd edition of this premier world film festivals. The 2012 Berlin International Film Festival will be held from 9th Feb to 19th Feb, 2012 at Berlin, Germany.
I am so happy to know that “Highway” Nepali movie is nominated under the panorama fictional films section in 62nd Berlin Festival. It’s a milestone to Nepali Film Industry. The story goes like this: a man from Kathmandu and his wife have been trying unsuccessfully to have a child. The man travels to the mountains of eastern Nepal to seek help from a miracle healer. The healer indeed has a magic potion for him but tells the man he must get back to his wife within thirty-six hours for the medicine to work. The bus that winds its way through the narrow streets, hills and valleys of Nepal is full of people who all need to be somewhere else in a hurry – to meet an internet chat lover, bring someone some money for medicine, or to visit their parents. But the travellers are obliged to stop again and again on account of general strikes, traffic jams, breakdowns and angry villagers. Some of these obstacles are overcome by the passengers themselves, who get to know each other during the trip they even dress up as a wedding party in order to be allowed to keep moving. Meanwhile, at home, everything has changed.
Deepak Rauniyar’s first feature-length drama is a road movie that is full of surprises and passion; it is also an unflinching portrayal of life in Nepal today.
I had a chance to have short chitchat with him on Jan 23 Seoul South Korea. It was program organized by Mustang community to celebrate lunar New Year in Korea. It was not a formal interview but I was so happy to meet him in person I couldn’t stop writing about him.

His song always had been great and I really admired his voice. During this meeting I came to know not only his voice is good but also his personality is gentle. He expressed that he was too busy now-a-days in his tour concert that he barely has time for new album. His will to give best performance for the audience was admirable. Before his show he was planning hard to sing his songs and practicing too. That really touched my heart. Actually I was so excited I couldn’t talk too much. I took some pictures with him and bid farewell hoping to enjoy his performance. As per my expectations his performance was the best. Everyone who came to see his performance was overwhelmed by his god gifted voice. I wish him all the best and hope that he would release his new album soon.

Early July 2011 “Pyeongchang” won the bid to conduct the Winter Olympics. It was great news for not only to Koreans but also for all Asians. Of the 21 winter games held since 1924, 19 have been held in outside Asia and 2 games in Asia (Saporo and Nagano) and this will be first time that South Korea will host winter game in 2018. It’s great achievement for the future of Asia. Korean government believes that the 2018 winter games in Pyeongchang will leave a unique and lasting legacy for generations to come. It may be inspirations to young generations to flourish their dreams and hope. It may provide potential, opportunity, and hope to all Asians. Besides watching winter games beautiful places in around Pyeonchang can be explored. Some of the best places you can visit once you are in “Pyeongchang” can be

1) Daegwanryeong Ranch

2) Present and Future in Firs Road in Woljeong Temple

3) The Home of Herb Scents, Herbnara

For the detail information you can visit the site

Personally, I have attended the Ski camp for foreign students for promoting it for winter Olympics moreover; I have also visited to herbnara. I went there with one of my Korean friend who learnt Nepalese language with me. I must say herbnara is place for the naturalist, the person who loves flowers and nature. I was attracted by the tulip plantation over there. It was also one of the best experiences I had during my stay in South Korea. I would like to encourage you all for visiting the beautiful places nearby Pyeonchang.

Vision Korea Project 2011 was organized together by Asia exchange association, Ministry of public administration and security and KINSA on 2011 12.18-22 at Seoul “Olympic Parktel”. The main objective of this project was to share and exchange ideas about the problems Asian students who are pursuing their studies here in Korea.

This kind of program is usually very progressive for interaction between different people from different countries. It was good platform for exchanging culture, perspective and sharing problems with each other. It is said positive thinking will create your future. In my personal opinion, it is one of the best ways to create a better future. Mostly Asian, countries have similar custom and values; however, there are few cultural differences. It was nice experience to know about their culture, language and perspective on the problems that foreign students are facing in Korea. Despite, of all the cultural difference, problems we are facing seemed to be more or less similar. 12 teams were designated to develop the proposal on the problem students are facing and how can we solve it. 2 days were given to us to prepare both proposal and power point presentation on it.

Along with the project we also had different activities like cultural show, kite flying, talent show and games. Every team gave their best presentation on different topics (15 minutes). 4 judges from host organization evaluated the performance of each and every team. The best team was given first, second and third prizes. Our team 7 had 3 Korean students, 1 Chinese, 1 Indian and 1 Nepalese. We gave our presentation on housing problems foreign students are facing while residing in Korea during their study. We also proposed some suggestions, and solutions on how such problems can be solved. I am really happy to announce that our team “Team 7” was able to secure second position. I have also attached the culture performance representing Nepal. Further, in future I will update performances from different countries.

Lunar New Year

“Seollal” is one of the biggest festivals celebrated to mark lunar New Year in Korea. It falls at the end of January every year. This festival marks the harmony, peace and prosperity. It is typically a family holiday. Koreans celebrate this New Year with full enthusiasm. Mostly they pay respect (greetings) to their elders and ancestors. As a blessing they get money from their elders. They also prepare special kinds of Korean foods like, “Takguk” (Soup of rice cakes), “Manduguk” (soup of dumplings), “Jhan” (pancake with vegetables and meat), (“Takmanduguk”) mixture of “takguk” and “manduguk”.

To mark New Year many professor and teachers invite us for a New Year party where I could taste different kind of Korean traditional food. It was really nice experience to taste these foods. I liked “jhan” (Korean traditional pancake) and “manduguk”. However, “takguk” was not suitable for my taste. In this days all the family member gather together, make foods and enjoy the warm foods in cold weather. They also play different kinds of traditional games. Many Koreans dress up in colorful traditional dress known as “Hanbok” however, now-a-days they tend to wear other formal clothing instead of traditional ones.

I hope coming New Year are full of surprises, happiness and prosperity. Finally, I would like to wish you all happy “Seollal”.

Now -a -days K-pop is gaining popularity all over the world. Teenagers from Nepal are crazy about Korean music and movies. Music is god’s adorable creation. I love music and mostly all the people love it. It is said that music has no language. It’s one of the honest means in this materialistic world that touches our souls and makes us happy or sad. Some time I wonder what would happen if there were no music, how people would express their immense love, sorrow and care for each other. Korean wave concert organized by Korea Tourism organization was held in Yongpyong at Pyeongchang. It was held for 3 consecutive days (12.2-12.4) . Popular K pop bands like 2Am, U-Kiss, After School, Leader’s, BEAST, 4 minute, Kim Kyu Jong (SS501), My Name, G.NA, ZE:A, Davichi, Sistar and B1A4 gave their best performance.

I really enjoyed the SS501, G.NA and BEAST performances. I had seen some dramas and songs by Kim Kyu Jong and seeing them even closer was a wonderful. I wish all the bands and singers for their success.
