Welcome to AOL's brand-new iPad site! We've optimized the entire experience to make it super tablet-friendly. Check it out by going to aol.com on your iPad and then tell us what you think.

This new design provides an easy and fun way to browse through more of AOL's best content including top news, local and entertainment headlines.

WHAT'S NEW:

Touch-Enabled Gestures - Content on the page is now enabled for tapping (to open or play) and swiping (to see more). Try this out with the main featured stories section at the top of the page - you can swipe through images and headlines, then simply tap to read full article.

AOL Mail - Tap on the Mail icon at the top of the page to quickly go to your AOL Mail account. Or, sign in to the page itself to get a dedicated mail preview section so that you can see up to 20 previews of your latest unread messages. You can swipe to review your mail, tap on previews to open messages, tap on the compose icon to open compose view, and tap on the header to open your inbox.

Games - Tap on the Games icon at the top of the page to go to our Mobile Games Channel, or try out one of the featured games in the AOL Games section at the bottom of the page. You can tap the Play button to open the featured game to start playing it or view games news headlines.

Apps - Tap on the Apps icon at the top of the page to visit our Mobile Desktop Tablets page and view all available AOL Apps and Mobile Web channels. You'll also find AOL Apps promoted further down the page as well.

A-Z - Tap on the A-Z "More" icon at the top of the page to open the AOL Directory page and get quick access to all of your favorite AOL sites.

Weather - Set your location to view today's forecast. Tap today's weather forecast to get more detailed information from AOL Weather. You can swipe to view the 3-day forecast and also tap to get the 7-day forecast. You can also tap on "edit" to change your location. Tap the blue button to have your iPad pinpoint your location or enter in your ZIP or city, state.

Top News - View top news headlines with images. Swipe to see all headlines, tap an item to read the full article, and tap on the header to open Huffington Post Front Page to see all articles.

Video - Swipe to see featured videos and tap to to play selected videos. Once the video experience is open, you can play that video or tap on additional featured videos below.

Slideshows - Check out featured slideshows with the swipe of a finger. Tap on an image to open a Slideshow Gallery view, then swipe through gallery to see images. There are also options to share on Facebook, Twitter and via email, and you can tap on the "Read Article" link to view the full article.

AOL Music MP3 of the Day - Swipe this section to preview the latest 20 days of AOL Music's MP3 of the Day. Tap play to listen to selection. It will play in-line with continuous play of all 20 MP3s.

Local News - Upon setting your location, you'll be able to view news headlines for your area. Swipe to see all headlines and tap on headlines to read the full article.

Entertainment - Swipe to view the latest entertainment news headlines or tap headlines to read full articles.

Horoscopes - Preview today's horoscopes (all twelve signs). Tap on a horoscope to open Huffington Post Horoscopes. You can also tap the link at the bottom to set or change your sign.

Moviefone - Swipe see all listings of movies now playing in theaters. If location is set, you will see movie times for nearest theater and movie trailer.

FAQs:

Q: Can I get back to the old AOL iPad site?
A: Yes, you can go back at any time by tapping on "Back to Desktop Version" at the very bottom of the page. The old page will come up for you each time unless you clear your cookies. If you decide to change back, just look for the "Back to Tablet Version" link at the top of the page.

Q: How do I change my location?
A: You can tap on "edit" in the weather section, or tap on the "Change Location" link at the very bottom of the site.

A Homepage for Your Hometown

One of the most popular sections on AOL.com is Local News and Weather. We've heard feedback from many of you that you'd like to see more of this type of information that's relevant to where you live. We agreed and found that there's so much great local information that we can provide to you, that it deserves its own page.

AOL.com/local is designed to cover every single city across the U.S. It doesn't matter if you live in the heart of the city or in a rural area, we should have you covered. And if for some reason you aren't able to get information for your ZIP Code, let us know in the comments section below.

If you already have a location set on your AOL homepage, we'll remember that and show you content for that ZIP Code. You can always change your location by simply clicklng the "Change Location" link located at the top of the page and entering in a city and state or ZIP Code.

The AOL.com/local page has 5 main sections:

Weather

We all know that weather impacts us every day so we wanted to provide today's forecast as well as a snapshot for what the rest of the week is looking like. You can click on any of the links to go to AOL Weather for even more detailed information like hourly details and satellite maps.

Latest News

The Latest News section scours local sources to find and display news stories specific to your area. If you live in an area covered by one of AOL's Patch sites, you'll get Patch's great local news coverage. Clicking on the "More Stories from Your Area" link at the bottom of the headlines will load additional stories for you on the page so you can keep up with everything happening in your neighborhood.

Movies

Now that you have your news and weather, it's time for something fun. Movies! The Movies section on the right side of the page will display the closest theaters to your location as well as the movies currently playing, including showtimes and (where available) links to purchase tickets. You can click on the theater name to go to the theater page or any movie title to get reviews, trailers and more. If the link to a showtime is blue, that means you can click to purchase tickets. How great is that?!

Traffic

Another useful piece of local information is having up-to-the-minute traffic at your fingertips. The AOL.com local page gives you a large interactive map that displays the current traffic conditions. (Green means clear sailing, yellow means slow going and red means major headaches.) The map will also show you where there are accidents and roadwork happening. Just hover over any of the triangular icons and more info will be displayed. It's a great resource to check before your morning and afternoon commute.

(Aren't you glad you if you don't have to drive in New York City?!)

Yellow Pages

Lastly, we have an area to search the Yellow Pages for your local area. Here you'll be able to find any business you need. Just enter the type of business (locksmith, restaurant, etc.) and click Search. We'll put your current city, state in for you but if you'd like to search in a different location, just type it into the location ("in") box. Note that searching in a different location won't change your default location for the AOL.com/local page or your AOL.com homepage.

If you are looking to get back to AOL.com to see all the latest national news and video content you love, simply click on the AOL logo in the upper left of the page, or just type AOL.com in your browser bar.

Exporting Your AOL Favorites

Important Notice: The My AOL Favorites site will be going away on November 16, 2011.

If you have used this site to store favorite bookmarks or feeds, you will have until this date to export them. You can then import the file(s) to your web browser, alternate favorites product or feed reader of choice.

STEPS FOR PC USERS:

Follow These Steps for Exporting Your Bookmarks:
1. Access Favorites by going to http://favorites.aol.com and select Bookmarks
(You will need to sign in first in order to export your bookmarks)
2. In the left pane, click Export Bookmarks at the bottom. An html file will begin to download
3. Click Save, and navigate to the location in which you want the file to be saved
4. Click Save to complete the download
5. To import the file into another bookmark experience, navigate to its Import Bookmarks option and select the file to be imported (Note: If you are importing into a browser like IE, the browser's Help section will have directions that guide you through this process)

Follow These Steps for Exporting Your Feeds:
1. Access Favorites by going to http://favorites.aol.com and select Feeds
(You will need to sign in first in order to export your feeds)
2. In the left pane, click Export Feeds at the bottom. An xml file will begin to download
3. Click Save, and navigate to the location in which you want the file to be saved
4. Click Save to complete the download
5. To import the file into another feeds experience, navigate to its Import Feeds option and select the file to be imported (Note: Most feed readers have an easy-to-use feed import option in their settings area)

The navigation to AOL sites now sits over top of today's lead stories and featured videos:

Hovering on an item like "News" with a drop-down arrow next to it will provide you a listing of all of our news sites. You can move your cursor down to select exact AOL site you are looking for. Or, simply click right on "News" at the top to go to our main news page.

What Moms Want for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is this weekend and families across America are scratching their heads trying to think of the perfect gift to honor their mom. So to help out in that effort, we asked over 7,000 moms on AOL.com to pick from a list of different gift items that appealed to them for Mother's Day.

Before we reveal the results, let's just make it clear that there are two things we know about moms:
1) The thing most moms really want most is a happy and healthy family, and
2) Moms would be happy with pretty much anything you give them!

That said, here are the final results of our poll:

As you can see, the race was a close one! This is further proof that moms are going to be
happy with whatever way you choose to honor them.

The top answer was a tasty meal prepared for them, not by them. Here are some ideas to making it a meal to remember:

* Consider treating her to breakfast in bed
* Honor her with afternoon tea with a yummy dessert at home
* Grill out while she sits back relaxes
* Make a reservation for her favorite restaurant

Coming in a close 2nd was a gift card to her favorite store or spa. Don't worry about offending her by not having a wrapped gift -- she'll be thrilled with the opportunity to spoil herself with a shopping trip for a new outfit, something special she's had her eye on, or to schedule a much-needed massage.

Tieing for 3rd place is an afternoon of peace and quiet and a handmade card or gift. If you have younger children, the latter is always a safe bet to win Mom's heart. If you want to go with the afternoon of peace option, consider giving Mom a gift of bubble bath and an aromatherapy candle and then treat the kids out to a movie so she can relax for a few hours.

Back by Demand - AOL Mail Preview

You asked, we listened!

One of the features many of you told us that you missed on the new AOL.com was an AOL Mail preview. Well good news, AOL Mail Preview is back by popular demand!!!

Here's where to find it and how it works:

1) Sign in to AOL.com using the link in the upper right corner of the page (HINT: If you already signed in, this link will say Sign Out instead)

2) Notice that the mail envelope icon next to the search button has your mail count showing up over top of it (unless your mailbox is squeaky clean)

3) Hover over the mail icon for just a second or two and POOF, a preview will drop down!

That's it!

You'll be able to see the four most recent mail items from your mailbox, along with links taking you to see all of your mail or to compose a new message to send. And you can always quickly get to mail with one click on the envelope.

We're Putting the Super in Super Bowl

The hours are counting down to Super Sunday, and AOL.com is where you'll want to spend your Super Bowl weekend.

From pre-game to kickoff to the morning after, we've planned a great set of stories and videos to keep you informed and entertained all weekend. You'll also be able to find extensive pre-game on FanHouse.

On Saturday, there'll be no better place to get an early start on your party plans -- and to keep up-to-date with late-breaking pre-game news.

Wake up on Super Sunday with "You've Got the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders." And take a timeout to brush up on your history with the best Super Bowl commercials, football movies, and TV shows.

The party really gets going at 2PM EST with player predictions, Super Superstitions and exclusive videos and performances from the Maxim Super Bowl party.
