    I won!

    Saturday I got a chance to go to the LQS (The Quilt Hut) because I was in the area.  Didn’t you just know that gift certificate was burning a hole in my poketbook?!?!?!

    I bought 21 batik 1/4 yard cuts and one 1/2 yard cut of the lime green.

    This quilt that I have been wanting to make since I first saw it at Kaimuki Dry Goods in the store the first time I went there over two years ago:

    It is called “Sunshine Pineapples” by Vicki Stratton and Barbara Jones.   My hope is to finish it before we leave the island.

    ]]>     http://peachquilting.com/2009/10/shared-items-october-26-2009/feed/ 0 http://peachquilting.com/2009/10/shared-items-october-26-2009/     Catching Up http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/apeachinstitches/~3/7bc1GeRqTk0/ http://peachquilting.com/2009/10/catching-up-2/#comments Sun, 25 Oct 2009 17:29:23 +0000 Kim http://peachquilting.com/?p=2838 My laptop has been on the fritz for a while.  Back and forth to the repair center twice.  The first time, the LCD screen went out.  If I didn’t have an extended warranty on it, it would have been at least $500 to fix it.  It came home, things were running fine, and about two weeks after it came home from the LCD incident, the hard drive failed so much it had to be replaced entirely.  Another trip to the repair center and that time it would have been $300 to fix it.  In total, almost $800, almost the cost of the laptop.  That extra $100 for the extended warranty sure paid off this time.  Sometimes, they don’t though, but I always get one on computers and expensive electronics.

    I have been doing a lot quilting.  I got the quilt for my father done.  I will take photos at guild tomorrow and post them afterwards.  I also got a cute wall-hanging top done for Halloween, but it won’t be quilted in time.

    I look at what I need to work on, what I have in my stash and get overwhelmed at the projects.  My block-of-the months are SO far behind that I don’t even want to think about them.

    I have been going to water aerobics three times a week again and have made a  conscious effort to cook at home every day for lunch and dinner.  Last week, I only slipped once on Friday.  The kids were out of school for “Furlough Friday” and after water aerobics, I had to go get the key for the community center for today’s fabric postcard workshop through the guild.  Well, they moved the location where you have to pick up keys and I had to go to a few different offices to get the key.  By the time I drove all over the area, I was starving (I skipped breakfast) and the kids were hungry, so I stopped and grabbed us lunch (I was craving Chinese food anyway).  But one meal out of a week isn’t horrible.  A lot better than I was doing before.

    I am also trying hard to cut down on my soda intake.  I did really well until yesterday – only having one large McDonald’s diet coke a day – but we were at the commissary and they had these twin packs of 50 oz diet cokes for like $2.50 and it was cheaper than buying two 20 oz bottles.   Well, I ended up drinking one whole bottle yesterday.

    I have been making my beach bags a lot too.  I have an ok stream of sales going on, and have been trying to get the website up for them.  I was going to sell on etsy, but I figured that I could save the fees from them and just have my own site up.  Yea… it is a lot more work that I have not had time to do yet.  Once I get past today’s workshop and tomorrow night’s guild meeting, that is what I am going to be working on.

    Well, I should be getting my stuff packed up for the workshop that begins in a few hours – I will be taking the entire sewing room it seems like – much more stuff than I take for a normal bee.   I will be tired tonight.
