As I had recently acquired a pair of angel wings during my visit to KL for WPPM, I wanted to have a shoot with it, and my wish was granted faster than expected. Now let’s have a look at the fruits of our labour.

It was a cosy little gathering of photographers with some nice cocktail and light entertainment. I had the honor to meet Charlie Lim the light painter for the first time at the party, it was a nice and sweet party to kick off WPPM!

WPPM day 1 was exciting, a conference full of pros here to share their knowledge and experiences, the first class I went for was Grant Coban’s class which touched on Customer Service. Grant was very gracious in sharing alot of his experiences however there simply wasn’t enough time for him. A shame as he just had so much to share with us, any chance for a one to one session Grant?

Next up was Jon Low’s class where he went through his workflow and how he goes from shoot to slideshow just in time for the wedding reception in the evening, I would still like to know where to find good music though Jon.

Next up was Stuart Taylor’s class on post processing. Stuart being an Aperture user briefly introduced Aperture’s workflow from importing photos to outputting them to print. Maybe I should give Aperture another shot.

Following that was Teng Wei’s class on Digital Workflow where he showed us some more interesting things that Aperture could do. Sorry but I did not take any photos of this session. The last session was by Kid Chan, who talked about creating ripples to brand your business. With that concludes the first day of WPPM.

Day 2 was interesting as we had several big names showing their stuff to us, Lito Sy from Philipines, showed us the art of veil ‘throwing’, Charlie Lim demonstrated how he painted with light, Jim Liaw spoke to us about his experience with a Hasselblad which was just mind blowing what this dream machine could do. Patrick Low also shared with us his past experience and some of his wonderful work. The last speaker was none other than Jerry Ghionis who showed us some very inspirational photos. After the speakers had their go it was award presentation time, sadly when I found out how to submit an entry it was past the closing date, shall try my luck next year.

That concludes my WPPM Experience, it was well worth the money to meet all these professionals, I’m looking forward to next year’s conference already. Those who missed it this year should consider investing in it in 2011!

It’s Scott Kelby’s annual World Wide Photowalk, and this year I had the honor of leading one in Penang. Turn out rate was pretty good, 30 odd out of the registered 50 showed up.  My route was from Weld Quay to Chew Jetty, then towards Kuan Yin Temple and back.

It was a new experience for me and I found that leading a walk by yourself is quite difficult, especially with the different pace of the participants, the group kind of dispersed half way through and only a handful of the participants were still staying together. I will definitely need a friend or two the next time I lead a walk, thanks to the participants for showing up and supporting my walk. I apologize for the shortcomings this time round and hope to lead a better walk next year, if I have the chance.
