Sometimes a chimney cover is just a chimney cover and sometimes it is something dramatic to look at. Look up!

The thrushes have come back from wherever they spend the winter. This bird has been digging in the earth, there must be something quite tasty under the layer of mulch.

Die Singdrosseln sind seit ein paar Wochen von ihrem Winterquartier zurückgekehrt . Unter der Mulchdecke stecken besondere Leckerbissen.

The surroundings are rather stark in the winter. Come spring the pond in front of this impressive church is filled with water to provide a mirror for the building. I have to go back for that.

A nice surprise when a broken branch put in a vase produces a lovely, if somewhat unusual, blossom.

‘Flip side’ because these leaves come from the same tree, silvery white underneath, yellow on top. Makes for quite a show in a breeze. This picture was taken along old railroad tracks.

This little wildflower is quite common in northern Austria where I live now, a seemingly non-stop bloomer during the summer months it attracts a variety of butterflies and insects, and besides being quite attractive it has the added advantage that slugs and snails are not fond of it. Sounds like a definite addition to my garden next year
