It's been 58 years she had her independence, yet her freedom is still fictitious. Like a child weaned before her time, Nigeria’s institutions have been ineptly formed. President Nelson Mandela declared to the world that freedom is a long walk. Unfortunately, Nigeria isn’t walking; she’s crawling and, perhaps, heavily derailed at the moment. The nation of Israel had 40 years long walk from the wilderness of independence, however, slavery mentality and attitudinal deficit had to be completely got rid of before they entered into their freedom. Similarly, 58 years of wandering in the wilderness of independence, Nigeria is still not free. Her precarious situations beg for working solutions. They require urgent and concrete attention, as her future looks nebulous.

Almost every generation from independence has looked up to United States, Canada, Australia or United Kingdom for education, exposure, equity or aids in order to sustain vitality; and young people do in order to protect the great potentials they carry from suffering miscarriage. Nigerians, the truth remains that, leadership is critical in the transformation of any nation. Leadership is the most important factor in piloting human society. Everything rises and falls on leadership. In my extensive research into human society and civilization, I discovered that humanity had cried more as a result of leadership than all natural disasters put together. Whenever people wept bitterly or rejoiced exceedingly in history, leadership was probably implicated. Quick example is abolition of slavery by Abraham Lincoln through the Emancipation Proclamation, and orchestration of World War II by Adolf Hitler and other brutalities through the Malicious Practices Act 1933 in Nazi Germany.

There's no substitute for compassionate, competent and visionary leadership in bringing Nigeria to her Canaan Land. Leadership determines the destiny of a nation. Yet, our leaders seem to be more concerned about next positions than next generation. It was the iconic leadership coach, Dr. Myles Munroe, who said, "Nations of the world do not lack people in leadership. What they lack is leadership in the people who are in leadership. Government is only as effective as the leaders in it. No government is better than the people in it." We have been swindled over the years with the lies of the so called leaders. They come subtly through our weaknesses: our attitude, habit and stomach. I have been writing for years that the problem of Nigeria is not the geographical location because we are pleasantly situated. The problem of Nigeria is Nigerians and their attitude. There's hope for Nigeria to be a better country if there's hope for Nigerians to be better citizens. Over the years we have cultivated habit of gullible acceptance and tolerance of incompetency, inefficiency and averageness in government. Excellence seems to be far from our personal or nation culture. Our habits have made us captives, and we’re being preyed both from within and outside our country. "The world is ruled by habit." Said Wallace D. Wattles "Kings, tyrants, masters, and plutocrats hold their positions solely because the people have come to habitually accept them. Things are as they are only because people have formed the habit of accepting them as they are. When the people change their habitual thought about governmental, social, and industrial institutions, they will change the institutions," he concluded.

"We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them", said a world-renown genius. Fellow citizens, it's becoming sin accepting our leaders as they are, just because they are from our ethnic or religious background. It's time Nigeria takes bold step in creating a national curriculum for Intentional Leadership Training and Development for next generation who would cause a wave of next national transformation. We urgently need proactive and competent situational leaders who would take command of the situations, apply right leadership style, form best leadership team, employ finest leadership skills, offer their deepest leadership insights, utilize their most profound leadership training and exposure to lead an inclusive government.

7 Principles and Benefits of Planning in Effective Living

Early in April this year, I joined a team for an outreach in Oyo State. We were at the place on a Thursday till Sunday. On the last day of the exercise, a friend made a comment that sparked a train of thoughts in me on how people sometimes allow time to be wasted without a plan, and consequently, purpose is helplessly unpreserved. She said, “We were here on Thursday but it was just like an hour gone.”
Life runs in similar way: We were here some years ago and we will soon leave this planet. There are two irrevocable gifts of life that one has to be wise in handling: Time and opportunity. This is because what we do or don’t do with opportunity when time lasts invariably becomes the net worth of life.
While pondering on her words, my mind was inundated with hundreds of thoughts. I observed we were on a mission and we had a purpose to accomplish; we encountered unforeseen circumstances such as rainfall; we had reasons to make adjustment such as change venue, time or method; and despite the fact that the circumstances were not lenient on us, the time didn’t stop. If we had not planned our time, it would have just kept burning for nothing. Time waits for no persons, no matter their status.
Dr Mike Murdock wrote, “Planning is the starting point for any dream or goal that you possess.” He defined a plan as “a written list of arranged actions necessary to achieve your desired goal.” Planning becomes the highest form of faith in God. Failure to plan in the name of spirituality is foolishness. Such a deception is born out of lack of understanding of how God works. God is the planner of ages who never does anything without planning. Evidently, God never starts anything He has not finished. God stands in eternity and says, “Only my plan shall prevail.” Therefore, any visions or dreams that aren’t documented are mere wishes or hopes.
Follow me closely as I earmark the seven (7) principles and benefits of planning I learnt from our outreach.

Principle #1
Planning Preserves Purpose
On the second day of the outreach, we were heavily disturbed by rain. Nevertheless, we were able to accomplish our purpose for the hour because we had a guiding plan. Planning preserves purpose even though procedure may change.
Every man is here on earth to fulfill a purpose. However, discouragements will sediment at the bottom of our hearts from time to time. We will keep having discouraging thoughts, moments and circumstances to fight. But it is relieving to know that when we have a guiding plan for our lives, our purpose for each moment of our lives shall be preserved.

Principle #2
Planning Regulates Time
The greatest commodity in our life is time. Time is the only thing that is unambiguously equivalent to life. Our life end up becoming what we exchange our time for. Therefore, time should be made accountable. It should be monitored and effectively spent
Time drips continually like the eastern earthen roof: sixty drops of the measure of time make one hour. When we have twenty-four hours, it makes one day. It doesn’t take long for time to accumulate. However, planning is the strategy by which time is prolifically captured.
Planning is the most effective time management strategy and a sure way of living effectively. Success is accomplishment and accomplishment is in doing. However, work will be uncoordinated or simply unregulated without adequate planning.
At the outreach, our time was regulated by planning. Everybody knew what to do, how to do, when to do, for what reason to do and when to do any items in our agenda of program. Our order of programme outlined when to sleep, when to eat, when to pray and when to work. So our time was well managed. Not only does planning regulate time, it also redeems time.

Principle #3
Planning Gives Value to Time
You probably have heard the saying: “How time flies!” Time is volatile; it vapourizes readily where there’s no planning. Our time out for the outreach from Thursday to Sunday was just like a few hours gone. On the last day, we could not believe we had spent about 3 days already for the program. Nonetheless, what counted at the end of the day was what we were able to accomplish according to our planning, even though time itself had flown away.
The best judge of our effectiveness in life is time. The quality of life is measured in domination or donation, not in duration. It is in what we have been able to do between the first life cry and the final breath.

Principle #4
Planning Helps to Accomplish Much within Short Time
A dream or goal with not deadline can last till eternity. An academic program that’s supposed to last for 3 years can be run for 7 years if there is no solid plan for it. For instance, you may be a PhD student and goes to the laboratory any day you feel like. However, having a plan can make a difference. This is because planning makes you to be disciplined.
Planning will dictate what kind of friend you choose, what number of hours you spend on TV, and what kind of book you read. In a nutshell, planning will help you to accomplish much within a short time.
Planning also monitors the progress of purpose. One can monitor one’s progress in business, academic, or ministry with a plan. During our outreach, we simply confirmed our progress by checking what agenda we had accomplished compared with what we set out to accomplish. So in short time, we made a great impact in the community.

Principle #5
Planning Helps to Shun Distractions
It is natural for discouragements to come. Many circumstances cannot be figured out at the beginning. But they will surface somewhere in the middle of the way. Both expected and unexpected distractions are best handle by having a solid plan.
The wisdom needed for the moment will come if there is a plan. Of course, you can’t adjust a plan you don’t have. When we were distracted by rain at our outreach, we changed the venue. In fact, some of us quickly came up with an alternative program that somewhat fulfilled the initial plan. A person who works with a plan is not readily distracted by little challenges.

Principle #6
Planning Checks Procrastination
A Planned Life is a Captured Destiny. You see, life can be funny. One may be at the realm of profession of what one would love to accomplish in life for the whole first half of one’s life. John Mason rightly said, “Some people spend half their lives telling what they are going to do, and the other half explaining why they didn’t do it.”
What you ought to do today may be postponed till tomorrow because nothing is planned for tomorrow. That of tomorrow too can be postponed till next tomorrow because every new day is always an unoccupied, unplanned day.
A loosed destiny is the one that is not planned. It can stray at will following the dictate of societal happenings. An unplanned life can be stopped by economic hardship but the mind of a planned one will devise a surviving mechanism no matter how difficult is it.
For our outreach, we never allowed our time to be dictated for by harsh circumstances we met on ground. We never procrastinate what we ought to do per time. Procrastination is not only a thief of time but also a thief of life because time is life.

Principle #7
Planning Helps in Maintaining Priority and Focus
There are one thousand and one things that will demand one’s attention in life. You cannot do or become everything. You don’t have to be everywhere; however, you can be somewhere and affects everywhere. This is the nature of light. Light only stays at the lamp-stand and gives illumination to everyone that comes in or goes out.
There are many good things that may demand for your time but not all good are right. A little deviation from what your priority should be may lead you where you should not be. Therefore, the key to effective living is priority. Planning is important in setting right priority. It will help you focus on few but glorious things you’ve carefully selected among other important things. By this, planning gives meaning to life.

My colleagues 've achieved far better than me in academics....

My friends are now employed in big parastatals both within and outside the country....

My mates are now known globally for what they do, many now hold big positions in the country....

My friends are now getting married and having children....

Yes you are right! Your friends are 'these' and 'that'..., however 've you forgotten that not all of your so called friends you started your primary education with are still alive till now?

You are right to some extent... if you think critically well, you 'll know that there are many of your age group/(mates) that are presently in the mortuary waiting for their families to claim their bodies....

When last did you visit the the Prison? Just try to pay the inmates a visit one day, you 'll see different age range including those you can categorise as "age mates".

Yes there are many of your colleagues that 've ended their sojourn on earth before you, just try to go to the cemetery and see the lists of names engraved on the each tombstones at the cemetery that are not even up to your age but are having eternal rest in their various graves.

I might not be where I want to be for now but I give glory to God for what, where I'm, and where He is taking me to. We should stop grumbling but show our gratitude to our maker. There are ways we can lay our petition to HIm without grumbling and comparing ourselves to others.

As I enter into another new year of birth, I give all the Glory and adoration to Him for the new age. It has been Him all these while. I decree and declare in this 5th Month of the year, and 5th day of the Month:

5 stands for Grace.
Grace has 5 letters
Mercy has 5 letters
Favor is 5 letters!
Peace has 5 letters
Water has 5 letters
Bread has 5 letters

I receive the GRACE of God, enjoy the MERCY of God, live a life of FAVOUR throughout the days of my life.
The PEACE of God that surpasses man understanding is with me and my household. There shall be peace into everything and everyone around me.
The Lord will WATER my life with great testimonies.
I will not lack BREAD, I will not beg for bread.
I will begin to open heaven and showers of blessing.

However, Death has 5 letters,
Grave has 5 letters,
Shame is 5 letters.

I prophesy into my life and family, I will not share in the DEATH that goes about in this new year and throughout the days of my life.

Managing Vision with Attitude

Vision is the ability to think about or plan the future with great imagination or wisdom. It is also an ideal or goal toward which one aspires. There has now been subject of comparison between Vision and Ambition; the former is God’s design while the latter is an inordinate desire to achieve a particular aim or objective. An ambition that is not in line with God’s design (Vision) for your life will lead to problem for your destiny. Vision is the mental picture of a better future.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” (Proverbs 29 verse 18 KJV). The phrase “Keep the Law” has to do with your attitude. Attitude is a ‘mental set’ held by an individual which affect the way the person respond to events and organizes his/her cognition(thought process). The extent to which the person is prepared to act on the attitude that he or she holds is the Behaviour. How you behave when you are left alone or when there is nobody with you defines your attitude. Your attitude determines your Altitude – the height or level of your attainable dreams for a better future.

Vision and anointing are not enough without a good character. When a man loses character, then he has lost all. May you not lose your character. How positive or negative is my character? Is my attitude helping or damaging my vision? How disobedient, cheatable or stubborn am I? How godly or deadly is my character? In what areas are people complaining about my character? These are the questions you need to ask yourself and make corrections where necessary.

A king once instructed the head of his loyal servants to select children who are potent in skills, knowledge, and worthy in characters. He wanted them to be trained in new skills in other for other generations to learn from them too. Your skill and knowledge can take you to a very high position, however it takes a good character to sustain you and keep you there. Among the children selected, a particular person distinguished himself from others. Apart from possessing all the above required credentials, he consolidated it with good attitude.

One of the attribute you need to manage your vision aright is SELF DISCIPLINE. You must possess the willpower or ability to control yourself. While others engaged in all sorts of activities that can distract them from achieving the major purpose they were chosen, the boy remained focused and didn’t join the multitude. Do not let what you see or any environmental activities distract you from making your vision come into reality. You have to “cost your opportunities”; set priorities and disregard every other engagements that are not of serious importance to you. Discipline requires sacrifice, you have to let go of many things so as to reach your potential. Although discipline might not be an easy task but it is a ladder you have to climb for your vision to manifest.

Discipline is just choosing between "What you want NOW and What you want MOST". - Abraham Lincoln

Another attribute you need to have in other to properly manage your vision is DILIGENCE. You must be diligent in your pursue to lead a good life. It is very important you add an extra output in other to get a bogus return. When others are crawling, that is the time for you to stand on your feet and walk. When your colleagues are walking, I expect you to run. When your counterparts are running, try as much as possible to outrun them at a higher speed and if possible take a flight at a very high attitude. A discipline and diligent person should not be idle when it is expected of him to work harder. Diligence is an important catalyst in achieving a better future. After the trainings and teachings, the young boy spent more time to put all the skills learned into practice, no wonder the common saying “practice done in a right way makes perfect”. The more time he spent on studying, the more he became an expert; this made him to stand out among his peers. He achieved greater feat than the others.

Never underestimate God’s Factor! That should be your foundation. This is very important because there is nothing that can be achieved without God, we are nothing without Him. Consolidate the DISCIPLINE and DILIGENCE with PRAYER. Let God be the Alpha and Omega of any journey you want to embark on. With God you can do the impossible. The boy was able to achieve the impossible because he placed God in a very high esteem in his heart and ways. Because of his achievement in the training, the young boy joined the team of scholars and wise men in the kingdom. In the course of his new attainment, a great challenge came on his way, the king required someone that could tell him his dream, the dream he himself couldn't even remember. The king threatened to kill all the scholars and wise men in the land if they were unable to find a way of telling the dreams. When people think a situation is over, God always looks for a way to take over it, we only need to trust Him. The boy neither relied on his wisdom, nor his understanding but instead decided to seek for the face of God. If indeed you trust in God with all your heart, and at the same time you are discipline, diligent in your dealings, and communicate with Him in prayers, He will answer you.

The boy called the name of his God in prayer, tendered his supplication to God, and in return, He answered him and showed him greater and mighty things, things he had never seen or heard before. He was showed mysterious thing that was beyond his wisdom; or what should we say in a situation where you are asked to relay a dream dreamt by someone that couldn’t even remember his own dream? He was not only able to relay the dream correctly, he was able to interpret the meaning of the king’s dream, achievement the king’s wizards couldn’t achieve. As a result of his attitude, the boy was speedily promoted to the position of the head of king’s counsel in a strange land. The boy in this story was Daniel at Kingdom of Babylon in the Holy Bible.

When you plan your future with great imagination and control it with the ideal attitude, your future will be as bright as the sun. Remember that when you have nothing to pursue, something will be pursuing you and you might end up not having anything to possess in the process. Therefore I besiege you to locate your vision and manage it with good attitude.

7 SMART WAYS TO START THE NEW YEAR

Happy New Year.

Wow. Like the freshness of the dawn comes a newness of season! It's like sun regally coming out of its chamber in the morning time fresh, bright and pleasant ready for a great day. I have here 7 guides to help you plan the new year so as to have bountiful harvest when it runs quickly to an ebb.

1. Gratitude, Celebration and Reflection.
No better way to start new year but to be thankful for who you are, what you have and where you are. You've go to use what you have to get what you want. Celebrate and be grateful to those who have been part of your life, business and success. Never forget to say thank you to myriad of disappointments, No, Yes and testimonies you got last year. Reflect on how last year was spent and how to make new year a more productive one. Last year disappointment will make you do it this year reflectively, novelly, diligently, and more enthusiastically. Never keep gratitude in your luggage, it's not yours.

2. Total Commitment to Creative Goals or Visions.
Goal is like roadmap; it gives direction all the way. Those beautiful dreams of your heart become goals when you write them down with set time. Then do something everyday (or every week) that will move you closer to your goals.
To desire or wish for great things in new year is inherently human but to achieve great things is not spontaneous. Dreams are better lived than told. As beautiful as your aspirations are they cannot achieve themselves. Successful people set goals and give themselves wholly to their goals. If you have a vision which seems not working; stick to it, it will work. That's characteristic of visions especially at the beginning.

3. Build Healthy Relationships.
The best memories in our lives may not necessarily be in our aloneness. Life is designed to be lived in association not isolation. In new year, make some adjustment in your personal life such as dressing, habits and character. Be determined to be a better friend, husband, wife, father, mother and citizen. Share yourself and build values into others.

4. Networking and Partnership.
One simple principle that have been proven effective in almost all fields of endeavour is networking. The principle says: Iron sharpens iron. Look for people who share common convictions. Look for people you can complement whether in business, ministry, education, entertainment or sports. You will always see people who will help you or those you will help. Networking gives you opportunity to expand your coast and see with other people's view.

5. Search and Prepare for Opportunities.
One of the saddest moments in our lives is that awkward one when an unexpected opportunity springs up but you don't have the required criteria which you should have. It is usually good to always wash the pot in case it rains over the night. Some opportunities may decide to stay in a distance. You have to build a bridge when opportunities stand aloof.

6. Intentional Personal Growth
You have to let go of comfortability and security if you really want to grow. Nobody is too old to learn. In fact, one of the closet companions of great people is learning. Anybody can easily find excuses for being a dwarf since learning on its own is not palatable. But understanding that life itself is serious, as Jim Rohn observed, will make you take responsibility for your life. I personally keep a Growth Journal. In new year, learn new things, read great books, go for workshops or seminars, volunteer at NGOs, go for internships or find a mentor.

Pain of the Heart

I remember spending few years at home after my secondary school education. Gaining admission into the University was not a problem then but a challenge. I had a very close friend; in short my best friend then was privileged to gain admission before me. After few weeks on campus, she developed strange attitude towards me. She became another person entirely, she was no longer a friend I used to know. She no longer visit me at my house unlike before despite the fact that I visit her regularly . I asked her what the problem was, she opened up and told me she was no longer comfortable associating with me since we were no longer on the "same page". Ayokunmi, how will you expect me to mingle with you when you are still at home, struggling to gain admission! she said.

Honestly I was pained with her actions but decided to take heart.

A year later, I gained admission in that same school, and eventually graduated before her.

Some of us are equally guilty of this. Don't ever look down on anybody if you can't lift them up.

Life is dynamic and not static. Many times things aren't the way we see them, they might move and change within a twinkle of an eye. No condition is permanent. When you condemn a situation along with the person in the situation, you are only playing "god" in a condition you don't have power over.

There is this common Yoruba adage that says "A masquerade that dances first will become a spectator before the end of the contest". He who laugh last laugh best.

NB: This Story isn't fictional but my true life personal experience.

Restructure Nigerians, not Nigeria!

Many have come out to boldly call out for the restructuring of the country. They claim its a way out of the myriads of problems confronting us as a Nation. Lot of notable names have lent their voices to the regionalizing of the country so as to give each part full control of its natural resource especially the Niger Delta Region. Many have stood up to claim that the country as it is now has derailed from its past glory when we had it regionalized. Nigeria doesn't need to be fragmented further or restructured in order to live up to our status as the giant of Africa. This article is all about how we can achieve greatness without further compartmentalization, but by addressing some common issues which we haven't paid closer attention to as a Nation.

Tribalism in Nigeria now is at a very saddening high. We see different parts of the country label those of other tribes with derogatory names. The youths are worst hit by this tribalism epidemic. We are ever ready to conjure a plethora of inhumane appellations for our brothers and sisters from tribes that are not ours especially on various platforms of the social media.

Another issue to be addressed is lack of the spirit of Nationalism amongst the Nigerian polity. Majority of Nigerians are only Nigerians by nomenclature and not by the heart. Nigerians do no longer believe in the Nigerian project. I bet most Nigerians would readily change their nationality to any country with better prospects who offers such opportunity. This is partly why Nigerians prefer to patronize foreign goods and emphasize all the bad things about made in Nigerian merchandise. The death of Nationalism gave birth to and is responsible for the growth of tribalism.

I love Nigeria

This is why a Nigerian would first identify himself as an Igbo, a Yoruba or Hausa man including the over 250 ethnic nationalities before identifying as a Nigerian. The death of Nationalism also took another casualty and that is, the spirit of patriotism. Very few Nigerians are patriots. Most Nigerians wouldn't go the extra mile for the country if there's nothing in it for them. This is further shown in how Nigerians treat government property and even how politicians treat government infrastructure and institutions e.g. dilapidated schools, stadiums and poorly equipped hospitals and death trap roads that abound in the country.

This is also responsible for the wanton destruction of oil and power installations especially in the South south because they do not feel as part of the Nigerian project . Government at all levels should embark on a major campaign to eschew away the spirit of tribalism and ethnic sentiment and for all to embrace nationalism . Government should also introduce the history of Nigeria into the curriculum of schools in the country.

Nigerians need to know the story of the independence and how the dreams of our founding fathers can be actualized. Nigerians need to know the story of the Civil War. We need to know the sacrifices made from all divides for our unity and what lessons we can learn from the war. Nigerians need to know the great political icons that have made positive and meaningful contributions for our sustained growth and how the upcoming generation can draw strength from their determination .

Nigeria Flag

Nigeria can be better if it conquers corruption. If the current crop of our greedy, selfish, wicked and uncreative leaders were at the helm of affairs when we had the regions, I bet we would not have anything to say about those past glorious days. Fellow Nigerians rather than restructuring our nation, we need to restructure our values. We need to evaluate what's important and what's not and this must start from the very foundation of every society-the family. It should be of note that leaders during the regional times in which Nigeria flourished were a product of a balanced family system which promoted the right values and virtues of hard work, honesty, creativity and selflessness.

I've heard many a Nigerian youth complain bitterly about how we've been short-changed by the older generation in our social contract. The older generation deem us unfit to handle Nigerian affairs aright. There are more than 30 million of us roaming the streets jobless and hopeless. When it comes to election times, we shy away from doing the needful or even accept to short-change ourselves by taking peanuts from the older generation to install their crook friends in power instead of we taking charge. Dear Nigerian youths, the older generation would never give us a chance if we do not SPEAK TO BE HEARD.

We speak to be heard when we do the needful during electioneering-vote credible people and defend your votes. We speak to be heard when we say no to stomach infrastructure and request for developmental governance. We speak to be heard when we submit ourselves to serve our fellow compatriots. Most Nigerian youths are ignorant of the fact that we are truly the leaders of tomorrow. when the older generation is gone, we have to take the lead but the truth is we are not ready and we don't really care and with that fact, the future of Nigeria still looks gloomy. If we do not collectively desire and work towards a new Nigeria, we have no future to look up to. The youths of today are the Nigeria of tomorrow just like our inept leaders of today were once irresponsible youths of yesterday.

Nigeria belongs to we all whether we like it or not . What ever we make of it will be borne by we all whether we like it or not . Let us all eschew tribalism. Let us show love to and support our brothers in the north east and donate towards the young ones starving and dying off there . Let us plead with our brothers in the Niger Delta region to quit bombing oil and power installations and sheath their swords because the use of violence will destroy more than the good we can ever achieve. Let us all demand for accountability on behalf of our Niger Delta brothers from the political elite in the region to tell us how the billions invested there has been spent.

Let us demand for justice from our political class that cannot pay pensioners and salary earners but can still afford to live in stupendous wealth. Let us demand for a new Nigeria brothers and sisters. Nigerian youths obey the clarion call and seize your own future. Nigerians, old and young let us restructure our mind-set, eschew tribalism and embrace nationalism, shun corruption and start believing in the Nigerian project because without restructuring Nigerians, restructuring Nigeria will only be an exercise in futility.

Will you marry Me?

The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favour from the LORD. Proverbs 18:20.

1. The process and method of the finding determine how 'treasurable' she will be.

There is a difference between finding a wife and finding a 'Girlfriend' and then making the 'girlfriend' a 'wife'.
A wife (in terms of materials and qualities) is a 'wife' even while she is singles.

Here is why:
'In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use'. 1st Tim. 2:20.

A Marriage Proposal

2. Your Wife is a treasure unto you. Why? Because she is a manifestation of God's favour on you.

3. That you propose and she said 'Yes' is a favour from God, and that you as a sister was purposefully convinced to say Yes is God's grace.
There are other brothers that even laboured more than you to get her, and there are other Sisters that have gone on Vigils and taken his name to Pastors, just to get him. But here you are; Grace and favour from God made it happen for you.
As someone that has gotten a 'No' before, an understandable 'No' (Lol), the last part of that passage makes so much sense to me.

Am recently studying on Grace, and I can see how Men have taken for granted God's grace.

You see, until we begin to understand that marriage is a partnership unto destiny, may be we can then appreciate the Grace of God or pray for the grace of God as regard making marital choice.

When you marry someone, you are not just choosing one person; you are through him/her choosing who your father In-Law will be, your Mother In-law, brother In-law, Sister In-law, extended family relatives, friends In-law (lol), etc.

You can fast and pray for seven days on Mont Kilimanjaro or Mount Everest, and be very sure that she is your wife. (I believe you that she is your wife), after several attempts of proposing and she is not taking you serious, you decide to wait for ten years for her to say Yes; Buy gift for her, take her to Mr. Biggs, and spend all you can on her. Bro, if you are yet to obtain the grace and favour from God for her to be your wife, You are only taking care of another man's wife.
(I remember Prof. Sunday Isehunwa once advising us to pray on early mercy as regard marriage. He told us a story of a friend that the wife said Yes after ten years of proposal. That my bro, is waste of time. Do you know what they could have accomplish as a Team in ten years? Some waiting can be wasting).

4. So, what is it with obtaining the favour?

I happen to be blessed with four elder brothers. As the last born in my family, I have learnt a lot about marital choice, relationship, and marriage as a destiny, from them.
Almost all of them have stylishly or practically being in a relationship before the sister they eventually marry.
But the process of they obtaining God's favour about their choice tells me more about the fact that the favour for finding a treasurable wife is based on Purpose and destiny.

You may not understand the depth of God's will and purpose for you and your marriage when you propose to her, She may not understand you completely when she accepted your proposal; but God gave you the favour of she accepting your proposal because He (God) has in stock for the union between both what eyes have not seen, what ears have not heard and even mind is yet to imagine. Something great that God wants to do through you and your seeds.
And he can't afford that the ignorance of you too about the depth of His will for your union will be a set back to the manifestation of His plan for your marriage.
God's favour is attached to a responsibility.
It's a favour from God that she said Yes, because she is the ordained mother that will nurse your seed and build your home.

5. Every marriage according to God's design is a product of God's favour.

That you as a lady was convinced to say Yes to him, not minding his stature, his 'Six-packlessness', his Oily face, his financial status and social class, his 'leggedesbenz', his 'three -shirtness' and 'four-trouserness'; that, despite all of these attributes that can justify your refusal of his proposal, you became so convinced in the purpose and plan of God for the union of both of you; that my sister, is God's grace at work.

Understanding that all we've been given and blessed with is all by the grace of God, will strengthen our heart to appreciate the purpose of God's design for marriage and the family unit, especially your marriage.

Fulani Herdsman Holding Riffle Gun to protect his Cattle

The Fulani ethnic group (also known as Bororo'en, fellaata, fellah, fulfude, Fula and peul) are people that live in an area that stretches from Ouadai(chad) to far away Ethiopia, they are mainly found in twenty Nations in wide swath of Africa from Mauritania and Senegal to Sudan. They are grouped into The settlers and the Nomads. They are estimated to be about 25million people. They are mainly Muslims and rears cattle.

History says that the arrival of the Fulani In Nigeria Coincides with the Rise of Uthman Dan fodi and since then the Fulanis have been a Core member of the Entity called Nigeria. the Settlers are found in states like Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Taraba, and Adamawa. The nomads can be found in almost every state in Nigeria. The Nomads don't stay in a place for a long time because their Cattle need Fresh Forages which is very scarce in the dry season so they move the Cattle in search of Greener pastures. This search for Fresh forages causes Conflict between the Nomads and the Farmers with the latter claiming that the Farm produce in millions are being destroyed due to Grazing of Cattle on their farms. They (the farmers ) also claimed that their lands were being degraded on a daily basis and any attempt at complaint were met violence from the Fulanis then comes retaliation by the citizens. This incessant Conflicts in 2002 prompted the then Governor of Oyo State, Lam Adesina to place an embargo on the Nomads activities in the state. This decision was highly criticized by the Arewa forums and other concern citizens especially from the North and in order to find a lasting solution to the Violence, the then Vice President Atiku Abubakar together with former President Muhammad Buhari held a meeting with the Governor, traditional leaders and other stakeholders in which at the end of the day, the embargo was lifted but Violence did not stop.

Recently, the violent activities of the Fulani Nomads has become very rampant, they steal, they rape, maim, and destroy properties at slightest provocation. Their activities are mostly felt in almost every state with States like Benue and plateau bearing the brunt of the menace. But more recently, the Nomads have step up their game, they have abandoned archaic arms and ammunitions like Club, Dane guns, matchets and daggers. They now carry sophisticated weapon like Ak47, RPGs and grenades. They have been committing crime against innocent farmers and settlers for over five years now but the straw that broke the camel back came when they kidnapped a Yoruba in Akure. This Latest action sparked a lot of angry reactions from eminent Nigerians. Some even suggested that the Fulani nomads should be pursued from the south. The activities of this group has increased ever since President Buhari was sworn in.

A faceless Terrorist

Last week, the Fulani nomads heavily armed with sophisticated weapons reportedly killed over 500 people in Agatu village in Benue and just yesterday, they reportedly killed over 200 people in the same Benue state. This is not some fulani nomads-farmers conflict, this is a full scale terrorism. This is a bitter pill Nigerians can't swallow. The Yorubas, the Agatus, the igedes and other ethnic groups are being maimed everyday.

People can't sleep with their two eyes closed, people are being terrorized on there own land. The United State recently named the Nomads as the fourth deadliest group in the world. Something needs to be done.

Nigeria need to Nick this menace in bud, the President as Grand commander of Federal Republic should address this madness, maybe he should go on live radio especially BBC Hausa to speak with his people, our boarder patrols need to be strengthened, we need to deploy men of The JTF to the most affected place, NEMA should provide abode for the refugees. Lastly we need to pray for protection against this uncircumcised savage.

JUMOKE ORISAGUNWA V. AYODELE DANIEL DADA : A JUXTAPOSITION

This post by one of my Facebook friends spurred me on to finally write something extensive on the whole Jumoke affair- the bread seller cum super model.
Some have so much criticised the the idea of idolizing Jumoke that it looks as if they envy her or have 'beefs' for her. While some think she is worth the whole hype. The rest are either indifferent or ignorant of the whole affair. I was almost publicly indifferent until someone compared the Unilag Graduate, Ayodele Dade who graduated with a CGPA of 5.0, the highest possible. It made me have interest to give voice to my opinion.
To me, all the issues, arguments and contentions so far is based on our 'value system'. I mean our erroneous and junky value system.
Some believe that companies and government pay too much attention to useless endeavors as beauty pageants and modelling at the expense of education, I mean school education.
From my perspective, personally I don't value school education as much as life education. I value talent and skill more than academic qualifications and achievements. The school qualifications MAY not have real value in real life, in the field. I appreciate an artist who can draw a beautiful image more than a first-class Engineering Graduate. I prefer the shoe-maker who makes nice footwears to the graduate of Sociology anytime, until that graduate can exhibit some skills he acquired in University to affect the society positively. Sir, your certificate won't rise up and make the society better, it is about you and what you have inside of you.

As we are all different as humans, we have different value system, but the thing is that some have a rather atrocious value-system. Personally, I value practical more than theory. Nowadays, our Universities are just mere instruction grounds. He who knows how to carry out instructions more, makes the highest grades not necessarily the most intelligent student. There is ZERO regard for Creativity and Innovation, and unfortunately those are the things that move greater countries ahead, not the mere 'paper qualifications'. In fact, go and check the most innovative (and richest) people in the world today, they are drop-outs. Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard , Mark Zuckerberg (Harvard) , Steve Jobs (Reeds College) , Frank Lloyd Wright, America's most successful Architect, James Cameron (Fullerton College) Nikolai Tesla (Austrian Polytechnic, Graz), many more examples abound. Note, most they didn't drop out because they are dullards but because of financial incapabilities and extreme divergence, insurgence. These are the ones I call, 'Too cool for school'.
Some would say are they Nigerians? Yes they are not. We have A few Nigerian examples of drop-out to glory anyway, Wizkid, Tu face, etc. But even if we don't, it is because of our flawed value-system.
My own problem with the whole Jumoke and endorsement issue is the fact that those banks and other companies will only use her nakedness to divert attention to themselves. In fact, to me, she is not exceptionally beautiful. As someone said sarcastically, "She is just there". Anyway beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It is not her seeming beauty that appeals to prospective companies but her willingness to display it in nudity and depravity. She is from a humble background, she would be more than willing to do anything 'noble' to make it big. At least she is not sleeping around with anybody, or at least, not yet.
TY Bello is an opportunist, she just took advantage of the poor lady and her ordinary story to make both of them rich, her richer. We have many bread seller who are more beautiful than Jumoke, we have many bread sellers or pure water-seller who have photo-bombed. She was not lucky to have photo-bombed, we all do. She was not lucky to have photo-bombed TY Bello's photos, many have done that. She was JUST lucky to have done so when the already unpopular photographer needed to rise to fame again, all of these still coming back to an Orchestration of TY Bello. It is a cycle. A facade created by the photographer herself. She is smart. Like Linda and gossips.

Nothing spectacular about her story naturally, until TY BELLO made it spectacular. She brought it to this point of awe. She was just a smart photographer. And trust me, Social Media should get a medal in this game of the minds.

All na PR.

It is high time we restructured our value system and understand the dynamics of value and development. We should pay more attention to talents, skills and innovation rather than mere paper qualifications and certificate. If your certificate is not backed with skills, intelligence, sense of innovation and creativity, please take the back seat. Your laudable CGPA won't make that car move, the road-side mechanic would....

A MOTION IN EMOTION

It was a Valentine evening, Ayo and Tolu were lovers that have been together for some time. As a usual trend on every 14th of February, gift are always being exchanged by Spouses, Lovers, and friends who are dear to the individual's heart.

Ayo was so eager to meet with his lover in other for him to share a token of his heart with her. He took out his phone to get a call across to her so that they could fix a place to meet.

On that faithful evening, he drove his newly acquired Range Rover jeep while Tolu was at his right side of the driver's seat tightening her seat belt before selecting a cool blues music from the genres of music selections inside the Car. They both went on a picnic at a reserved garden a few kilometer from Ayo's office place. They later branched at a shopping mall where they branched to get some gift items for each other as they both agreed to do.

"After getting some gifts items at the mall what's next?” that was the question from their both thoughts!!! Ayo's house should be next.

Immediately both step into Ayo's apartment, showers of sweet words started rushing out like a busted pipe from Ayo's mouth.

"I love you. I know you also do, you mean so much to me. The more I get closer to you the happier I am. I'm ready to spend the rest of my life with you, your love and attention is what I needed most. I give myself to you and also expect that from you also. Please let me love you more ... I love you!!! ".

"Kunmi, (as Ayo is fondly called), you know I love you and will always do but ..." Ayo grasp her hands and moved closer to her with a closer eye contact between the two.

Hmm, are you imagining the action that took place after the eye contact? EMOTION!!!

It is a person's internal state of being and involuntary physiological response to an object or a situation, based on or tied to physical state and sensory data. It is a natural biological drive with a cognitive evaluation that responds to the inward or outward stimulus. For instance, the Stimuli that elicit the emotional response between the two ‘‘lovers” is the closer contact between the two, the sweet words from Ayo’s, and the event that occurred in the environment at that period (Val Celebration).

Valentine day is meant to be like other days in the Calendar to celebrate Love.

Love has been defined by many scholar but let me make a reference to the book of life that defines love as God "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." 1 John 4:7-8. Love should be an attitude we should all imbibe but we can't claim to love without first knowing LOVE (GOD). The primary qualification for celebrating love is the ability to control our emotion. Anyone who cannot controls his/her own emotion has no business celebrating love with other people.

The question now is ‘‘how can I control my Emotion?’’. Emotion are Natural biological traits that has been indebted in us for us to subdue. It is our own responsibility to take control of emotion. Many a person finds his/herself in a position in which it is the emotion that takes control of he/she instead of otherwise. You might say ‘‘after all I am so anointed/holy to be carried away by Emotion’’, yes you might be right but sometimes your emotion is not a respecter of your anointing. The bible even stated it clearly in the book of Life:

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 KJV “18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”. The bible didn’t say walk away from fornication (which is control by Emotion) but says flee; ‘‘flee’’ is not to walk away from something but to take a fast race away from the thing. The best way to ensure your emotion does not override you is to run away from it. The action of moving away from an object is known as MOTION.

Get me clearly, I am not saying Emotion is negative or devilish. We all have emotion, and moreover aspect of emotion does not always relate to sexual drive alone but my main focus on this write up is on sexual immorality which is caused mainly by inability to control our thirst for pleasure. As we celebrate the season of love together, whenever emotion want to override you, change to MOTION. Rom 6:12 says ‘‘Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.’’ NKJV. Do not lust after the flesh but live a life that will glorifies God (1 John 4: 7-8). There is no relationship after God. Any love relationship after the body of Christ is lust (the strong physical desire to have sex with somebody, usually without associated feelings of love or affection). As I drop my pen for now let me quote apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 5:9 “I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators.

The little gift I have for you is this black on a white paper “Whenever Emotion want to override you, change to Motion”.

FOR OUR MEN:

Let us take a Selfie my sweatheart

Carry your wife to the bed when she sleeps off in the sitting room, make her feel like a baby at times. The truth is, every woman wants to be treated like a 2yrs old girl at times, that's why women behave childish or silly at times.

You may have an argument with your wife and the next thing is that you will see her putting her bags outside the house, it doesn't mean she is asking for a divorce, she is just being childish, she simply wants you to hold her, look her in the eyes and say "I am sorry for the argument".

That's women for you. Every brother needs to study in the university of women before getting married, read books about them, learn what the Bible says about them and you will hardly have a problem with them.

I love you

Though there may still be some challenges, because you're both from different background and your imperfections are bound to stand.

So, read books about marriage, an ideal home, child upbringing, importance of marriage and the likes. Don't just jump into marriage with an empty head about matrimony, you will have problems.

How many men can tolerate their wives nagging let alone shouting? It's said that, you should be quiet when your spouse is angry, when one person is fire, the other person should be water.

Brothers, when your wife steps on your feet intentionally or mistakenly, don't let your eyes turn red, just smile at her, if she did it intentionally, she is just playing with you, if she did it mistakenly, its not her fault. So why shout at her over every small mistake?

As a man learn to ignore some things, don't be petty. Some men are feminist; Do "hide and seek" with your wife, sing poems for your wife in the garden or inside the house, even if she is teasing you.

A romantic bite

Assist her in the house chores, pound yam, fetch water, don't make her look like your maid. Bathe together, wake her up for prayers, swim with her if it's available, cook together, teach her how to cook if she doesn't know how to cook. Cooking is not the ticket to Paradise. It's not only a feminine duty.

Use blind folds to cover her eyes and tickle her, scare her at times, call her from work/ school, text her, write "I love you" in a small note and put it under her pillow or in her purse or in her bathroom or in her cosmetics box or inside her cupboard. Kiss her always, cuddle her, pamper her and play with her hair. Always tell her, she's beautiful and that you're happy to have her as your partner.

All these are part of being romantic...When a woman tells you that you are not romantic. It means you are not doing all these things, its not the romance in the bedroom she is talking about. That's why, you brothers have to study "women's language" it's a 10 year course.

FOR LADIES:

It is part of your duty to be romantic too. Your shyness shouldn't get to your marital life and that doesn't mean you should be shy to express your love to your husband.

Send sweet text messages to your husband at work, sometimes even if you are in the room discussing with your husband, still be chatting with him on social media (Facebook, Whatsapp, Viber, Imo, bbm etc) even though he is right in front of you, it's fun and romantic! Discuss how lovely he is on your facebook timeline, this will trip him a lot.

You should be chatting with your husband, not other men on social media networks.

Buy flowers for him. When eating, give him the biggest meat. At times, bake cake for him to surprise him. Ladies, use your soft voice to sing for him, be creative, a poem like (twinkle, twinkle lovely spouse, how I wonder what you are, up above my world so high, like a diamond in my heart).

Sing poems for him, no shyness is allowed. Don't just be welcoming your husband with an angry face because there is no money in the house, God is our provider. Don't welcome your husband with your body smelling maggi, don't only play with your husband when he receives his salary.

Welcome him with a warm hug always, and when he is going to work, pray to God to keep him safe and for him to be successful. Support him, advise him, wipe his tears, be grateful to him, it's not easy to be a man, when you see his faith waxing cold, encourage him, don't threaten him that you will seek for divorce, don't compare him with other men, buy him gifts, wash his clothes, sing for him, praise him in a way that he wouldn't think of an alternative, be the best cook, wash his car if u have the time, dress him up, pamper him when he is sick.

Wake him with a peck and don't complain about his snoring habit.

Let kiss be the messenger between you. Read books on intimacy, don't learn it from what you see in movies..

Most of what you see there are not real. Call your husband pet names. Though you can also call him by his name even if he is 30yrs older than you, as far as he is comfortable with it.

Remember that, God said, men are the protectors and maintainers of women. So respect him and honour him even if he is younger than you. Marriage isn't a bed of roses but a bed of sacrifice. It's said that, there is nothing better for two people who love each other than marriage.

To fall in love is a disease and its cure is to marry the person one is in love with. Love is when you take away the feeling, the passion and the romance and you find out you still care for that person.

Finally, married men, divide your nights into 3: one for yourself (sleeping), one for your wife and one for your Lord.... That's the best night one can ever have.

Enjoy this season of Love together with your spouse.

WATCHOUT FOR "MOTION IN EMOTION".

WHY AM I LIKE THIS

First Isaac had to accept that there was a problem and that was the first step to solving it. After Rebekah conceived, in Genesis 25 v 22, we are told the children struggled together within her. Now she knew and accepted that this was abnormal and asked God “Why am I like this?” Accepting you have a problem is the first step to solving it. The scriptures tell us that Isaac entreated the Lord for his wife because she was barren and the Lord was entreated of him and Rebekah his wife conceived (Genesis 25 v 21).

When we ask “Why am I like this?” we are inspired to think and handle the challenge from the roots. Just like a farmer who is weeding his farm, the best weeding technique is to uproot the weeds from the roots. In trying to answer the question “Why am I like this?” or “Why is my life like this?” we must make sure we are not comparing ourselves with others. If you are improving but not as fast as others and you are asking “Why is my life like this?” then you are foolish. The scriptures say those who compare themselves with others are foolish.

Why am I like this?

I am not saying it is wrong to imitate good things. After all the scriptures in 3John 1v 2a says we should follow that which is good. We must however be careful about what we imitate because a photocopy at its best remains a photocopy. Why then would you prefer to remain a second fiddle in the name of trying to copy another person?

Whenever you are opportune to learn an idea from someone, your plan should not be how to copy that person. Instead it would be more appropriate to think about how to develop the idea and make it better than the former.

God gave us the instruction to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1v 28). He has instructed us to introduce and establish new ideas to het new results and not to copy other people’s ideas.

In conclusion, the scriptures say we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139 v14). We are God’s masterpiece, original and beautiful. So when next you feel “This is not supposed to be” not out of jealousy or comparison with others, ask yourself “why am I like this?” or “why is this like this?” and allow God teach you what steps to take.

Divine Healing

A portion of the biography of Jesus Christ by Dr Luke (13:10-17) was suggestive of the present state of the church setting. The hard and soft components of the church include:
             1. the building
               2. officiating minister
               3. Jesus the invited minister
               4. audience
               5. the surroundings
At a particular Sabbath, a sister bent by Satan for 18 years was under the teaching of Jesus Christ; He saw her and healed her. But surprisingly, the officiating minister felt the church service perhaps was interrupted. Especially to him, healing- enablement - isn't meant to be received on the Sabbath day by humans. However, animals in danger can be helped. Isn't that dumb? But courteous Jesus called it hypocrisy.

Hmmm! I can see the difference between Brother Jesus and brother officiating minister; one regards the welfare of humans while the other one prefer animals. One is the shepherd of the flock of God- God's goodwill; the other is the shepherd of his own flock- animalistic urges.

Secondly, Jesus was a grown up spiritual brother, while this officiating minister was hypocritical thus a babe (1pet 2:1). Jesus was flourishing in His youth 'like a well-nurtured plant' (Ps 144:12a) and therefore He could bring the sister to taste of the goodness of the Lord as against the wickedness of Satan who bent her in the first place. She became someone that can stand erect, stand tall and upright 'like a graceful pillar carved to beautify the palace' (Ps 144:12b). Our officiating brother was full of law and order! I wish all male-children understand the order of life. As long as we are raked dry by youthful lust, cravings other than spiritual meal and excuses and as such bereft of the knowledge of God, the sisters pay dearly.

And like the officiating brother, some brothers are full of principles here and there yet all we can see is animalistic urges. They are dating several sisters in their hearts yet doing like a monk. I think we yet have Deborah in the land. Oh! Deborah, please call up and pray for brothers to blow the whistle of war against fleshly lust that has reduced them to naive officiating ministers full of temple history, rule and order but strangers to the cross. Else, even the temple service will soon cease! The wicked laws, policies, enacts, conventions, decrees, resolutions etc. that holds in the place of authorities, can't upright women like Esther influence it for the good of human family? The crumbling homes, isn't it the absence of the pillars?

Lord! Heal us! I confess on behalf of all male-children of the kingdom that we need you to heal us. You are our elder brother, help us. Don’t bypass us to heal the sisters alone, heal us all.

It's distressing to hear your nation's stand on marriage; marry two wives or choose life imprisonment. We are aware of how 'Aitophelic' the policy is but we are assured you aren't Absalomic. You are Davids in the land and so you have to chose to walk barefooted (chose life imprisonment) for the sake of the throne.

We know He God is faithful to reverse the policy! He will return you back to the throne safely.

Without Jesus you can never be sure!

You will only continue with gambling and getting jilted. How I wish you made up your mind right now and offer up your life to Christ. Even as you read this article, open up your heart and Jesus will hear you and come in for your deliverance.

So many times, I marvel at sisters or ladies who begin to base their trust on a fiancé on the premise of his goodwill, actions, words and sense of commitment displayed so far. Dear reader, even if Bro. is a senior pastor; that has nothing to do with the issue of a desperately wicked heart. The God who made man said that his heart is desperately wicked but that ONLY HIM CAN KNOW IT. Not you! Only God can guarantee.

There is no point hanging on his words because he may not mean it, neither his actions because, it may not reflect his heart.

Rather than trust him why don’t you just trust God for him. These two are very different issues. Trusting a man is not the same thing as trusting God for him. Trusting God for a man will make you rely on what God told you about him and not what he told you.

It will make divine conviction and continuous heartfelt prayers the bedrock of your relationship and not the sea of love letters and cards with which he physically expressed himself. Trusting God for a man will make you continuously receive the answer to the ringing question from the Lord himself and stop struggling to convince yourself that he loves you. It will make you have a constant answer irrespective of his actions, whether encouraging or discouraging.

Have you ever wondered why some women will go to the extent of asking a babalawo (traditional spiritualist) to tie their husband’s heart to them?

They eat concoctions, make incisions on their body, take the guy’s name or photograph to an herbalist; in fact, some would constantly have sex with him, just for him to stick to them. Is it not the “Are you sure…” matter? The bible says that the people of this world are in their own generation wiser than the children of light. I don’t blame their intention, I only query their evil means.

Are you Sure?

But while an ungodly girl will do all in her capacity to secure the heart of her intending husband in this highly competitive world, a godly believer would simply relax in praise worship once she is sure that God brought them together. She stops all the serious tear-dropping prayers of “Give me my husband” and she expects God to work everything out automatically from that point forward. She sits down there idly saying, “My fiancé is born again; he knows what is right and wrong, he cannot misbehave!”

Dear sister, that brother can misbehave! As long as he is human, he can turn back on his words! Even if he is the personal assistant to the bishop. Remember Jesus said “While men slept, an enemy came and sowed tares…” this is a very great evil many holy Christian sisters should repent of: Sleeping at watch hour. Wake up from your slumber and cry to God regularly for this brother not to fall into temptation.

As strong as Uriah was, he fell down dead when Israel left him alone to fight in a battle. You need to tighten up your prayer belts if the enemy won’t succeed with you. Know that, that brother has a lot to combat if he will stay true to you, especially if he is the kind of brother any sister would like to marry. Seduction has found a seat in the church talk less of the streets; some desperate sisters are ready to cook with the anointing oil for him to choose them. Of course, you are not the only one seeing that he is responsible and appropriate for a husband. As a child of God, you cannot go to the Babalawo, you dare not offer him sex, if you would be true to Jesus. So how can you be careless in praying about him and for him seeing that this is the only powerful and righteous thing that you can do.

Heart

My heart breaks each time I hear the news that a Bro. and sis. In courtship have concluded that it is now the will of God for them to break up as for me, I don’t always believe that they were initially wrong. Though most of the time, such relationships were not appointed by God but it is not always the case! Sometimes, it’s just a case of “While men slept, an enemy came and sowed tares…” In a world where 7 women shall lay hold on the skirt of one correct man (Isa.4), it takes the same level of prayer it took you to get a fiancé to maintain one till wedding day and even after. These are the days of working out your own salvation with fear and trembling. If you ever make a mistake of going to sleep like several sisters have done already, you will only wake up one day to shout, “An enemy has done this…!”

Herein lies the call for a new generation of vigilant sisters who would not only listen carefully to the voice of the Holy Spirit to know who Bro. Godswill is; but will also keep listening to His voice (in the relationship) to keep knowing who he is at present.

Dear reader, this is the only way you can be really sure, not because he promised you. NO! Not because he expresses deep love for you, NO! But because God, the Alpha, the all- knowing keeps assuring you. The one who sees the hearts of men and looks straight into their deep intentions.

He is the best anchor for a sure relationship. He is the answer to the ringing questions. So I challenge you, the next time the deep question rings, “Are you sure…?” Turn to God and take your answers from him and stop answering it by grading his actions. Let God assure you as you daily commit it into His hands. And if the Lord answers you in the negative, then cry out to Him for help. He’ll surely tell you what to do.

A broken courtship is better than a broken marriage. So let me ask you again, “Are you sure…?”

Hello readers, this an inspirational and educating article we all have to read. Many a time we take decisions without first thinking of the consequence that will follow, dont you think we need to ask ourselves the question " Are you sure". I could remember few months ago, after a long wait of 11 month ... Yes! I know you must have been thinking of what made me to wait patiently for 11 month, hmm... that is a long story for another day, but if you are very good in guessing, you should be able to give a correct prediction. She called me and fixed for a meeting in a popular eatery in Ibadan. In anticipation we met at the eatery the following day, though very tired, in my native regalia I managed to grace the meeting to hear the final verdict from the judge(her). Was I disapointed from her eventual decision? A soldier man is trained to always manage every situations that come his way, however it is always difficult when it comes to EMOTION!

Final verdict

Till now, I hope she will be able to give a right answer to the question I quoted from Solape Coker's(today is her birthday) piece "Are You Sure". Perhaps I will get a right answer to the question after reading this:

Tunde and Bisi have broken up! After 2 years? Biodun and Bose just broke up last week! He came back from service year and that was it: 3 years courtship, torn to shreds! Kunle finally wrote from the US, only for him to declare that he was no longer interested. I’m sure you’re familiar with these stories. They seem to be happening every day and if you are in courtship right now with a brother, you would agree with me that there’s a good reason for the question: Are you sure?

Gone are the days when a lady can relax once she’s found a Christian brother on fire for the Lord. She could be rest assured that a blissful marriage is already sure and secured.

Many have placed their entire confidence on the spirituality and trustworthiness of a highly respected brother. I’m sure you’ve heard stories of how disastrous and shocking their disappointments have been? So many ladies have had their emotions completely crashed, some others have cried heavy tears that refuse to dry and some are still crying, even now!

Are you sure of that Man?

Quietly, in the heart of every lady, she wants to know if truly, she’s the one this guy loves or she’s just one of the multitudes of loved ladies around him. She really wants to be sure she’s not being deceived.

Coupled with the fact that ladies out there, are so desperate to get any good guy to marry, she’s not sure of her stand. Anytime the Mr or Bro. fails to fulfil a promise or meet up with an appointment, the deep question rings again, “Are you sure???” Sincerely, a lady in the heat of a relationship cannot really count how many times she asks that question. This is a major cause of her several hours of deep thoughts (an example of what men can never return/reconcile when they break a relationship).

Dear reader, can I ask you? Are you sure of that brother? Will he be true to you? Will e keep faith with you in the toughest of times? What of when unavoidable circumstances put some distance in-between you (e.g. NYSC, job transfer, etc.): Now that he’s abroad, would he actually come back for you? Would he in the face of desperate lovers in his far away location; still reserve your place for months? Or for few years? Will he wait for you? Or will he later change his mind? Can you give an answer? Are you sure…

If you will be sincere, you would agree with me that you are not in any proper position at all to answer any of the above questions. As a matter of fact if you supplied any answers to the above, I’m afraid, you are just guessing. The truth is ONLY

DIVINITY CAN SUPPLY YOU WITH THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS. It takes divinity to know what will happen that has not happened. Or can you by any means ever see the desperately wicked heart of a man.

Sorry Ma, only god has that equipment, you don’t. The God who made man said that his heart is desperately wicked and that no one can know it. Not even you, my dear sister. Only God! Only God, I repeat, can guarantee a relationship between a brother and a sister. He alone can make the brother “ZIP UP” when another lady “ZIPS DOWN” on him. This is the crux of this article.

Since only the Lord can guarantee a man for marriage; it will be like playing pool with your life to go ahead into a relationship with a man when you possess a dysfunctional and unhealthy relationship with the Lord Himself. Just imagine the kind of uncertainty of heart with which you will go into and through courtship and into marriage if you ever survive to that point at all? Dear Reader, why don’t you reconcile with Jesus and let Him be your guarantor.

Note on Orphanage Home Visit

He trusted in God with whom "nothing shall be impossible," and in His beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord who said "I go unto My Father, and whatsoever ye shall ask in My name that will I do that the Father, may be glorified in the Son."

And in His inspired word which declares that "All things are possible to Him that believeth."

And God fulfilled these declarations in the experience of His servant by enabling him to provide and care for about ten thousand orphans.

Dear reader, George Muller apparently did many things aside caring for orphans but I guess they are weightless on the scale!

Perhaps you may need to check his biography out for details but my educated opinion tells me that those weightless deeds are in by no means worthless! Only that the Omnipotent God placed His finger on Only this care for the 'worthless orphans' as weighty, worthy and recognised course!

As far as I know, God was equivocal on this scale of preference:

"Pure and undefiled RELIGION before me is this: to visit ORPHANS...in their trouble...." (James 1:27 KJV).

God demanded for visitation to them but George Muller was wise to have accomodated them so his visit will be regular and full; I mean meeting their need because he is ever present to see them in their trouble!

It is about visiting them and meeting their need, will you?

I have seen tombs with no inscription than the name of the deceased, what shall be written on yours?

Orphans can give you one should you visit them in their trouble!

An African Woman

The sex of the woman, remains one of the most complex aspects of her sexuality and life as a human. Perhaps, the particular location of her sexual organ may have contributed largely to this. Located in the crevice, embedded within her body and protected by her thighs from general view, the vagina is already en shrouded in secrecy by biological and physiological composition.

Unlike its male partner, located outside the body, the vagina is more private compared with the man’s. This may have added to the special status and respect, responsibility bestowed on the vagina while also making it the most sought after part of her anatomy. Naturally, anything hidden becomes an enigma, it becomes a treasure to be unravelled, discovered, investigated, experimented with, and most likely acquired.

The delicate, yet multifunction of the vagina adds to its beauty and honour, thus, its special place in societies. It is a channel of physical relief of sexual desires just as it is also a channel of life, procreation and assurance of the continuity of mankind. A woman’s vagina can make or mar her depending on how she puts it to use within the society.

Used ‘wisely’ and she is accorded a respectable position, otherwise, she may become stigmatised. Yet, not all that happens to the vagina is the responsibility of the woman and within her control.

As an endangered specie right from conception, she is discriminated against simply for the reason that she is what she is, a being with a vagina. The joy that greets her birth, determines how much she is desired by her family. This was aptly captured in a popular advertisement “mama, na boy oh!” which depicted the great joy and excitement of a mother on the announcement that her child had delivered a male child in the city.

Wide spread criticism that it was discriminatory against the girl child contributed to its scrapping by the advertisers. And so, those who simply have no use for her, abort her at pregnancy, terminating her life even before she gets a chance to take her first breath in the world. India and China are high on the list of countries where female foetuses are aborted. Most of those who take her home because she is human and deserves to live, already have stereo-typed ideas and plans on how she should and must live her life.

So, she is allowed to flourish only as much as the men she would come in contact with in the course of her life are willing to allow her, depending on who these men are. Providence, luck, hard work, focus, dedication, wit and determination are some of the things that will also take her a long way, where necessary.

A woman in Agony

Yet, the vagina has been a necessary companion to achieving her divine and earthly roles, rather than a best friend, as men generally view their manhood. Ask the young woman plagued with Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) or Dysmennorhea and you will know that menstruation is not something she looks forward to every month. It’s same for a woman who fervently desires conception, even though the disappearance of a menstruation without conception is bad news.

A male friend once shared an experience with me of how his friend was forced to slap his wife while they were making love one night. According to the gist, the couple had been married for a considerable number of years without conception. One night as they were making love and she was in the thralls of passion, he got angry and dealt her a severe blow. His reason was that she was busy enjoying herself instead of concentrating on praying that God should answer their prayers that night!

A woman falls victim of rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence simply because of her precious vagina. Thus, her father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother, friend, boss, neighbour, co-worker, husband and son who ought to love and protect her and her interest turn out to be her tormentors, sometimes taking advantage of her and her situation. Falling prey to a total stranger is easier to forgive than when the perpetrators are people you once held in high esteem and would probably have to see after the evil act has been accomplished. That is double jeopardy by all means.

If a man fails to hook her down, she is too ambitious, too wayward, too choosy. And if she fails to keep a man down, she is not submissive, she is not wise and virtuous or persevering enough. If another woman wrecks her home and takes her man, she is naive, a witch, not a good wife or mother, while the other woman is smart, intelligent beautiful and cosmopolitan. To make matters worse, rather than team up against their common enemy, the man, they each devise their plans to win him to themselves, declaring war on each other. The man is never blamed for compromising the trust and responsibilities bestowed on him by God and the relationship, simply because he is the man, the one who screws women up!

A married Couple

When the children turn out successful, it is because the man supported her or they are truly his biological children, the other way around and it becomes her fault for not paying enough attention or bringing bastards into the family. It is only the mother who knows where bad, unsuccessful children come from!

Whether the sex is good or bad, pleasurable or painful, she must lie down and ‘enjoy’ it. She is the one that gets criticised if she is not a virgin, no one queries the man, he is simply sowing his wild oats. She is ruined; a disgrace to womanhood, yet, someone must marry these women that the man is permitted by society to bed at will. When he strays out of his matrimonial bed, it’s because he needs the variety to maintain his manliness.

It is natural for the men, they are programmed to be polygamous. A woman caught cheating is a disgrace and must be stripped of her wifely and motherly roles as punishment for her sin against nature and society. After all, how dare she desire another man when one is already doing her a favour by providing food, shelter and welfare for her andher bunch?

A man is perfectly built, no matter the shape, size or length of his staff of office, it is the woman that has to adjust her port to accommodate him. After all, it is what a man has that he will use to sleep with his wife, it is impossible for him to borrow another man’s. So, it becomes her business to find a way to reduce or elongate and tighten or relax herself, depending on her circumstance. As the number of children increases, his size does not need to increase, yet, he expects the woman’s own to fit perfectly, wear and tear of child birthing and motherhood makes no sense to him. So, the poor woman has to go through all sorts of inconveniences, including insertions of dangerous objects, ridiculous exercises and even surgery to make her acceptable, a constant offering for the gods, the side effects of these objects and procedures notwithstanding. A man is permitted to drop his seeds till he drops dead as long as he has what it takes to win the attention of the opposite sex. A man of 90 years can bed a young maiden in her teens, it is his right as a man. After child bearing, menopause or a certain age, a woman is no longer expected to have or exhibit sexual desires.

Adore your Woman

Menopause is a disease that can harm, injure or kill her and her husband should they continue to have sex. So, she is expected to close shop, which ever condition comes first. So, she turns a blind eye as her still very active husband plays the exotic sugar daddy to all the young girls that catch his fancy. The woman becomes a “mama ke!” A ferocious man eater!

However, many women have become wiser and better managers of their God- given gifts, turning them into successful havens and business enterprises. Many have had to make untold sacrifices, fought silent battles with indefinable weapons, and engaged in activities suitable only under the covers of darkness to acquire societal respect and dignity for their asserts, just as there are a few lucky ones, who have not had to lift a finger to protect theirs simply because they have been blessed with grace by the Almighty. And for them, it’s been stories of benevolence love and support all of their lives. It is to these men that I doff my hat in salute. Men who recognise and acknowledge the significant differences between a man and a woman and are willing and never tired of bridging these differences.

The story of the woman and her vagina is not likely to change for the better anytime soon, because it is the story of the world and what makes it turn around.

Right from the onset, just after creation, man began earning profound influence from its environment (either negative or positive). Our first parents (Adam and Eve) are today remembered to be the premier "Mumu’s" who fell to the negative influence of the environment due to cowardice as they fell prey to the antics of an external stimulus presented by the serpent at the expense of their joy, fulfilment and everlasting life.

Unfortunately, our today's society has systematically evolved and improvised on the Garden of Eden's stimulus, thereby institutionalizing millions of innocent individuals to its corrupting influence.

For example, there are noticeable evolving changes in the dressing and grooming of individuals for decades now. As a matter of fact, today, the essence of wearing dresses has been thrown into the mud as a handful of individuals are obsessed with what the majority are putting on or what’s trending. Dresses are now worn to exhibit nakedness instead of covering it.

An elderly man was strolling down the street one cool evening as he wanted to keep fit. But unfortunately, his fitness turned to sadness. Why? Just few minutes of his stroll, he started seeing some sort of season film as if he was hallucinating; young girls were dressed and groomed just like an unfeathered hen, as young boys couldn't be differentiated from touts.

At a point, 'Baba' halted one of the girls and asked; "Did your parents see you before you left home?" The young girl felt embarrassed as she kept quiet, facing downwards. The elderly man continued; "You better go back and appear responsible." The girl thereafter turned back in shame.

Moreover, it would not be out of place to state that this young girl is a robot in the control of her environment; she dressed just like some other girls or perhaps followed the fashion trend.

Just like this young girl, very many individual have ignored the consequences of dressing to environmental influence. Sad to say, due to improper dressing and grooming, many became victims of rape, sexual harassments and molestation. Some others had lost golden opportunities.

The society seems to be depreciating in its values system. Peers now see you to be an odd one out. We now normalise abnormalities, the abnormal becomes normal while the normal becomes abnormal all in the name fashion.

The beauty of your body is not in your ability to flaunt your Nakedness; Beauty is something that is within you. Ladies, there is nothing wrong in using a make-up, after all makeups add to your natural beauty when it is used moderately but it becomes abnormal when you use it to the extreme. Adding too much of makeups will only make you to age untimely or what is the essence of cosmetics that couldn’t differentiate you from masquerades?

Flaunting your boobs, cleavage, thighs or your knickers devalues your worth, this might be appealing to some men but the fact is that a real man will appreciate you more when you appreciate your body. This starts from within, when you fail to appreciate what you have; you give room for people to downgrade your self-esteem.

Paul Tarsus in his letters to the Corinthians church in 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 tells us how valuable our body is:

“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's” (KJV.)

How you treat your body matters and can affect your spiritual growth. You can look nice, presentable and godly without being naked or partly naked all in the craziness of fashion!

It’s amazing when you go to boutiques/shops to purchase clothes that reveal half of your body when there are nice cloths in the same boutique that even cost less. I wonder how a normal person pays more to devalue his/her body and pay less to present his/her body appropriately.

You can defer with me on this, but would it be proper to be lost in unnecessary want of the world by following every available fashion trend? This is not limited to some ladies alone; there are many men that also display the above characteristics. They (ladies and gentlemen) anxiously go to the shops and through magazine and Internet to see what is in vogue and the latest trend in town. Not that it is bad to be fashionable, in fact it dignifies you and makes you look good, however it becomes abnormal when your dressing becomes a tool for other people's downfall or sin.

The fact that you reveal your body or you cover up a lot does not draw the right man, your body is not a sale product in which you use all markets strategies to entice consumers in other to get the highest bidders. It’s what you carry inside and your desires for God’s will that will eventually bring the right Man that is God's chosen for you.

Our values system has deteriorated to the extent that it is very difficult these days to distinguish between a church gathering and a club house. I give kudos to the churches that do not join the society to “legalise the illegality”. Houses of God shouldn’t drop their morale standards; it should be a place where such devilish act shouldn’t be condoned. I am not saying you should dress as if you are mourning in God's presence but you must be conscious of what you wear always. Remember your body is the living temple of God and so must not be put in the mud.

Some guys (ladies not exempted) measure the degree at which they are fashionable with the rate at which they can sag (to wear one’s trousers so that the top is well below the waist). A very observant person can easily see the lines that separate their buttocks into a pair. How I wish they could trace the history of sagging and the kind of people that started the act. I wonder if that is fashion or madness!

Do not use your body as an instrument of destruction or backsliding to others.

You are beautiful no matter what people say. Your beauty is hidden deep inside you, it is not till you front them. It should show the uniqueness in you (God’s glory) and not the other way round. Do not let your body be an element of abnormalities in the name of crazy fashion trend. If you were to stand before God in that clothe, will He welcome you?

Dress responsibly! Don’t join in the anomalies.

In the beginning God created all living things including plants and animals; he created sun for the day and moon for the night. He created man and commanded man to be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth and subdue it” (Genesis 1: 28).

To be fruitful you must possess your possession, and set a target. Life is like a football tournament in which each teams has a particular aim and objective. This target is what is called GOAL!!! According to Brian Tracy, Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement.

What are the goals you set for your future? I want you to realize that a life that fails to perform his responsibility will end up being ridiculed. What are your wishes and potentials?

Life is made up of three wishes, “the dream of yesterday, “the reality of today”, and “the hope of tomorrow”. Out of the 3 wishes, the one you have control on is the reality of today. The ways you utilize your present determine your later life. Plan your life as if you will live for additional two hundred years but live your life as if you will die tomorrow. If you plan and live your lives daily in that way, you will find this life simple as “ABC”. For a testimony to occur in your career, academics, finance, family, marital, spiritual and other areas of your life, you must be ready to pay the price and undergo the test ahead. Do not tie your fate to luck but work harder to reach your goals.

Make use of any opportunity at your door. Some opportunities come but once, when you fail to make the right use of them, you might not be able to come close to them again throughout your lifetime. Don’t underestimate the talent in you, utilise them! Hope you know that just a talent can make a different. No talent is too small; the way you utilise yours determines the magnitude of your talent.

The parable of the Talents in the book of Matthew 25: 14-30 tells us of a servant that failed to utilise the talent his lord gave to him. His lord expected him to utilise the talent positively to gain additional one. He underestimated the talent given to him; you know what ended the parable? The talent was taken away from him and was given to a diligent and hardworking person. The thought of the lazy servant was that the one talent given to him by his master was too small for him to target a goal.

“For unto every one that has shall more be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that has not shall be taken away even that which he has” – Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:29). May our talents not be taken away from us.

We are expected to utilise our talents and use them for things that will glorify the name of God and not otherwise.

You will not know the true value of the 1 kobo in your bank account until you are unable to withdraw your #999.99 in an ATM that can only dispense a minimum of #1,000.

You think 0.1 is surely insignificant? Then go to the University of Ibadan and ask, what differentiate an Upper Class Student with a CGPA of 5.9 and a First Class Student with that of 6.0? I’m sure you will get the right answer.

You think 1 mark isn't such a big deal? Then go and ask a final-year student who scored 39 in a compulsory course. Did your mind just whisper an extra year/ semester?

You think 1 second doesn't count? Then, how long does it take for death to perform his duty? Millisecond!

You think 1 goal is nothing spectacular? Then you will have to do research on many heartbroken matches/games that have separated a champion from the runner up with just a goal difference.

Then go and ask a person facing murder trial in a court but just narrowly escaped execution judgement by a single jury vote.

Segun had been on my case for at least 2 years.

I met him one hot Saturday as I was waiting for a taxi on Grogner Street in Iwaya, Onike. He pulled over and asked where I was headed. I don’t ever talk to people on the road but this day, the look of the mist on the window of his air conditioned car made it difficult to ignore him given the extreme heat I was exposed to.

I stepped into his car, grateful for the ride, yet determined to let him know I was no cheap girl that jumps into available cars.

“Thank you so much, Sir, for the ride. I normally wouldn’t do this but I have been standing outside in the sun for at least 30 minutes. The cabs come in trickles and are either taken or too expensive. No one is interested in going my way”.

“Where might that be?” He asked, totally ignoring every other thing I had said. “I’m going to Ikota but I’ll drop off once we get to any major road where I can find a cab”. “You’re in luck. I’m actually going to VGC but I need to get to Surulere first. So I can either drop you off at a taxi park or you accompany me to Surulere and then I drop you off at your doorstep.”

In as much as I was so eager not to overuse help being rendered, I opted for the latter option. I was in no hurry whatsoever to go my empty home. Mom and dad were on their way to Ikene for a week long engagement and my younger siblings were all in school. My best friend, Mololu had kindly volunteered to spend the week with me but she would not be getting to mine until Sunday night so that meant I’d be spending Saturday night by myself with only Larry, the dog and Mustafa, the gate man, for company.

I looked at my wristwatch, with its recently cracked screen and declared,

“Well, it’s just 1.00 and I’m not in a hurry so I’ll go with you”.

I got to meet him properly. His name is Segun, a businessman who was into the oil and gas sector. He had been working for himself in Libya before moving to Nigeria earlier that year. The Nigerian side of his business was only just growing and was already facing major challenges but a meeting he had in Abuja two weeks from our meeting would determine if a major stumbling block would be removed and his license would be granted. He saw an RCCG band on my wrist and asked me to pray along with him. I promised to.

As he dropped me off at about 4pm that Saturday evening, I felt like I knew him already. Segun was very chatty, divulging a lot so quickly. During those hours we spent together, I also found out that he has a 5 year old daughter by a white French girl he dated all through his university years in France. The lady had gone on to marry another Nigerian and they lived in Port Harcourt with his daughter, Amélie. His dad was long gone and his mom had raised him and his siblings by herself. I did what I do not ever do. I gave him my phone numbers and my pin and from there, we became friends.

The problem with Segun was with his way of showing

concern and love.

My primary love language is Quality Time

and I’m not really the type to get all mushy too early. So it

came as a bit of a rude shock to me when I received my first

“love you baby”, 2 weeks from the day we met. I really

didn’t know what to make of the message and it abruptly

ended our chat as I did not respond. To be fair to him, I

assumed he was simply overjoyed as he was granted all

necessary permits we prayed for, that he spoke out of turn.

About four hours after, at 1 am, I got another message from

him telling me how much he’s so into me and how he feels

like he has finally found what he had been looking for and if

I would be okay being a second mom to his daughter and

how he wants me to meet his mom. I read it and responded

with a “BRB”. Later in the day, we met up for a meal and

then I explained how, though I appreciate his feelings, it

was all too soon for me and I would appreciate if I am given

a bit more time to be on that kind of level with him. In the

meanwhile, I suggested that we remain friends. He looked a

bit disappointed but accepted and declared that he was in

no hurry and would wait for me however long it took me to

realise my feelings for him or develop them.

Segun was extremely generous to me, almost worryingly so.

Once he travelled and brought me an orange Hermès’ Birkin

40cm bag which retails for about $2000. I was shocked and

despite loving nice stuff, I didn’t want to take it from him

initially but I eventually did mentioning it to him that he

really didn’t need to spend that much on me and he should

focus more on growing his business.

Mololu usually saw one Harrods or Neiman Marcus

shopping bag or the other and was always encouraging me

to “stop fronting and say yes to Segun before a sharp girl

does”. I guess because of the manner in which he

approached me, it made me a bit overly cautious since this

his asking out was more like a proposal and he seemed so

sure of his feelings for me. I slowed things down a lot and

outrightly refused to meet his mom for the first three

months. I didn’t want to get carried away at all and kept

praying and taking things slow. Despite our living so close

to each other, I hardly went to his and since I come from a

relatively strict home, his visits were sparing as well (of my

doing).

About six months after we met, work commitments took him

away from Nigeria for a long while. During that period, he

would come to Nigeria at least once a month, bombarding

me with all manners of gifts. Even when he was not around,

he’d randomly have flowers delivered to my office.

He would send handwritten letters by DHL and whenever

anyone was travelling to Nigeria, he would have them

deliver something to me, however small. There was a time

he sent me a bottle of Lucozade because I had lamented

that the Nigerian one tasted different. When it came to

giving, Segun was without fault. But in my opinion, there

was more to consider than how generous a man is.

Sometime, five months ago, Mololu was sent to England for

a training to last 3 weeks and she used the opportunity to

shop and ended up having 2 extra boxes. She complained

over the phone to me telling me the airline was

overcharging her and then, partly because I felt it right to

help and partly because I had ordered something’s which

she was bringing for me, I decided to ask Segun if he could

help out since I know he always travelled light and never

uses the extra allowance granted to him. He accepted to

help bring the extra boxes and I gave her his hotel address

to drop them off a day before her flight. He was due in

Nigeria a week and half after.

My suspicion was first roused when, upon his arrival, he

took the bags to Mololu’s in Ogudu, instead of as I

expected, bringing it to me and having us sort ourselves

out. I asked for the favour. I mentioned to him that my stuff

was included in the box so it came as a surprise to me

when he drove all the way to hers the next day to drop the

boxes off. When I asked him why he did that, he said the

boxes were quite heavy and that he was going that way and

decided to drop them off. I had more questions but felt since

I was not his girlfriend, there is a limit to the questions I

can pose without looking funny. My pride got in the way and

I decided not to mention it anymore.

The calls reduced. The texts were shorter. The usual “love

you” closing went missing. ‘Mololu too reduced her

communication with me. Then one day, she drove to mine

and after lunch asked the most random question, ‘Are you

and Segun in a relationship?”. She looked like she had

struggled to ask that question but at the same time, as

though that was her aim for coming to mine.

“Why do you ask?”

“Nothing at all o. Just wondering ’cause you have known

him for a while and you said you were praying a while back

for direction and was wondering if maybe God said no since

you are not dating him”, she mumbled.

“Omololu, did I say we are not dating?”

“Oh sorry. But I kinda know you are not”

At this stage, I know she and Segun must have spoken

about our relationship status and so I decided to cut to the

chase.

“Did Segun mention it to you himself?”

She looked down and playing with her perfectly manicured

nails, said yes. I had noticed she brought a brand new car

to mine with a new plate number. She had the black of my

Hermes bag too. Wow! I didn’t want to believe what I know

just had to be the truth. It was written all over her face. I

don’t know where I got the strength but I said not a word

after that. Awkwardly, she picked up her bag and car keys. I

noticed then it was a Hyundai. It must be the Sonata she

always wanted ever since it was released last year. She

would always point at every 2011 Sonata she saw on the

road and say she’d one day, get it.

To cut the very long tale short, my best friend Omololu and

my 2 year old toaster are now together. Segun drove to

mine 2 weeks after Omololu did and said somethings to me.

He first of all apologised. He said he was not sorry for

moving on but sorry that it had to be someone I knew

simply because of the sake of his consideration of my

feelings and not because it was wrong. He said, as I never

for once, declared any form of feelings for him during our

almost 2 year friendship, he does not feel he had wronged

me in any way. He said he would always be grateful for

meeting me as, through me, a door of everlasting joy had

been opened to him and he would like my blessing as he

walks into it. I was weak.

To be honest, I’m not hundred percent certain which hurts

more, the fact that I’m losing a really nice and eligible

suitor, that I lost him to a ‘friend’, the sneaky way it

happened or the fact that I almost executed the deed for

them by creating an enabling environment.

I really wanted to know how it all happened and so I

demanded the tale, not from Mololu, but from Segun

himself. He told me that the week before he travelled, when

he saw her at mine, they had got talking whilst I was in the

bathroom and she had mentioned she would be off on

training and that she would be doing crazy shopping for her

new apartment. They had a few ‘moments’ that day but they

did not exchange numbers. It was the day she brought the

bags to his hotel that the sparks went flying. She had gotten

to his hotel at about 12 noon and they went to out together

and he dropped her off at her hotel at about 9pm. Early the

next morning, at about 5 am, he drove down to her hotel to

take her to the airport himself and from their journey, they

got even closer. According to him, he knew that morning

that he was ‘home’. That conversation sounded painfully

familiar and I couldn’t help my grimace. At that juncture, I

held up my hands and told him I was satisfied with the

information he furnished and that they both have my

blessing. He hugged me and left.

That evening, Omololu updated her status with these words

“Those that wait on the Lord will rejoice. I rejoice. Behold,

my Boaz!”. His picture was her DP. I remember that picture.

I took it with his iPhone whilst trying out an app. Each day,

a new picture of him would be put on display. There was

even one of herself, Segun and his daughter. She had firmly

ingrained herself in his life.

Due to how serious I know Segun is, it came as no shock to

me when she told me they were getting married and she

really wanted me to be her chief bridesmaid though if I felt I

could not do it, she would understand. According to her,

she was doing that for the friendship we once shared which

she hoped we could revive. I refused. But not before letting

her know that I could be counted on if she needed any

assistance.

At about 12 midnight, I got this email from her,

“Sweetheart, I love you. God knows I do. I apologise for

how I might have hurt you but despite all, I would be a liar

to say I would or could elect to do things differently if given

a second chance.

Oluwasegun has brought me the type of joy I thought was

only for the fairy tales. But through him, I have my very own

fairy tale. I love him with all my being. I know I might come

across as insensitive and selfish. I am sorry. But please, try

and find a place in your kind heart to let go of any hurt you

might be experiencing and enter into a place of happiness

for me, Omololu, your sister and best friend since our

Corona days. It should not be heard that we are fighting

over a man and remember, my darling, you never were in a

relationship with Segun.

You never took the plunge, you shielded your heart from

hurt and refused to commit to anything. I know you babes.

When you truly love a man, you have no time for such long

due diligence exercises. If you want to be sincere with

yourself, you would admit that Segun never did anything to

your heart. Your heart did not skip beats with the sound of

his voice. Your body never quivered with the touch of his

hands. I understand you two never even kissed. You clearly

never felt love for him.

However, I cannot discount the friendship you shared. Till

date, he still goes on and on about how you are the only

friend whose loss moved him to his core. I can testify too of

your level of regard of your friendship and respect for him.

But my dear, friendship and respect are not solid foundation

enough upon which to construct a marriage. You knew this

and this is why you stalled. What did not grow in 2 years

would most likely never grow.

I hope you understand that the aim of this email is not to

throw in your face the fact that Oluwasegun and yourself

never had anything concrete but to let you take a proper,

honest and dispassionate look at goings on. If you do,

forgiving me would come, naturally.

I can’t stop loving you dear. I am sad that the vow we made

to each other 16 years ago to be each other’s maids of

honour even if one got married first would not be fulfilled.

Please, re-examine your heart and find a place in it to

forgive me.

Yours now and always,

‘Mololu.”

The tears came pouring down. I couldn’t say exactly why

and they were not asking. I felt sorry for myself. I felt sad

because I really wasn’t crazy about Segun but we could

have made it work, I guess. Omololu now was benefitting

from all the prayers I invested in Segun, all the fasting.

That, more than anything hurt me. I would have married

Segun. I just needed him to pass one more test and voila,

I’d have said yes to him. I never thought he’d stop loving

me. I never thought I’d lose him and certainly not to my

friend, my supposed best friend.

I eventually decided to be her Chief Bridesmaid and muster

strength to be happy for her. There was no faking the look of

intense joy on her face when I told her I changed my mind.

She jumped on me in her usual boisterous fashion, laughing

and crying at the same time.

God has been helping me. It has been hard. Especially

when I see the look on Segun’s face as he looks at her. He

never looked at me that way, I must confess.

His business has been doing greatly and he is sparing

nothing for his wedding. His daughter, upon Omololu’s

request, will be both the little bride and the flower girl.

Omololu’s nephew will be the ringbearer. Her Eli Saab

dress is absolutely beautiful. Segun flew us both to England

to get it. She asked for a size bigger and I suspect she is

pregnant.

With each day, the feeling of hurt and betrayal gets slowly

taken over by happiness for her and hope for my own

future. I still haven’t met anyone worth reporting on and

despite this, I have joy. Not happiness, but joy; joy that all

will turn out well. But for now, I still can’t help from asking

myself each time I look at Omololu, “How could she?!”

Who would you blame?

-Would you accuse Omololu of being a conniving, scheming friend? Or would you blame the writer for being a slow person who forgot that time waits for no man and who possibly had started taking Segun for granted? Or should we lay the blame at Segun’s feet, the slimy bastard who had the nerve to move from one girl to her best friend? Or is there really anyone to blame? Could it not be argued, and successfully too, that when love takes over, restraint is hard, if not impossible, to practise and maybe, as Omololu stated in her letter, Segun was never destined to be with her friend?

-Do you support long periods of ‘fronting’ or as some term it, due diligence/waiting on God’s approval? How long is too long for a girl to keep a guy hanging?

-Also, the issue is raised on the appropriateness or not of a guy coming on strong and speaking of marriage early on thereby making a girl overly careful and scared to say yes.

-I also see the matter of getting your friend close to your man or potential man. How close is too close? Was the writer silly in giving them that opportunity to start something or would it have happened anyway?

-There is also the issue of being a good nice girl who would not accept anything (gifts etc.) from a guy as you want to build things together and do not want to appear to be using him and then along comes ‘Sisi Nene’ who takes whatever she is offered, sometimes even demanding, and dude keeps loving her deeper and deeper.

These are a few of the issues I identified. Do you see more? What are your thoughts?

Two weeks later, he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner and that match gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie, ROCKY. He wrote the script for 20 hours! He tried to sell it and got an offer for $125,000 for the script. But he had just
ONE REQUEST. He wanted to STAR in the movie. He wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR. Rocky himself. But the studio said NO. They wanted a REAL STAR.

They said he "Looked funny and talked funny". He left with his script. A few weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script. He refused. They even offered
$350,000. He still refused. They wanted his movie. But NOT him. He said NO. He had to be IN THAT MOVIE.
After a while, the studio agreed, gave him $35,000 for the script and let him star in it! The rest is history! The movie won Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Film Editing at the prestigious Oscar Awards. He was even nominated for
BEST ACTOR! The Movie ROCKY was even inducted into the
American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!
And do You know the first thing he bought with the $35,000? THE DOG HE SOLD. Yes, Stallone LOVED HIS DOG SO MUCH that he stood at the liquor store for 3 days waiting for the man he sold his dog to. And on the 3rd day, he saw the man coming with the dog. Stallone explained why he sold the do and begged for the dog back. The man refused. Stallone offered him $100. The man refused. He offered him $500. And the guy refused. Yes, he refused even $1000. And, Believe it or Not, Stallone had to pay $15,000 for the same, same dog he sold at $25 only! And he finally got his dog back! And today,the same Stallone who slept in the streets and sold his dog JUST BECAUSE he couldn't even feed it anymore, is one of the GREATEST Movie Stars who ever walked the Earth!
Being broke is BAD. Really BAD. Have You ever had a dream? A wonderful dream? But You are too broke to implement it? Too tiny to do it? Too small to accomplish it?
Damn! I've been there too many times!

Life is tough. Opportunities will pass you by, just because you are a NOBODY. People will want your products but NOT YOU. Its a tough world. If you ain't already famous, or rich
or "connected", You will find it rough. Doors will be shut on You. People will steal your glory and crash your hopes. You will push and push. And yet NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.
And then your hopes will be crashed. You will be broke. Damn broke. You will do odd jobs for survival. You will be unable to feed yourself. And Yes, you may end up sleeping in the streets.
It happens. Yes, it does. BUT NEVER LET THEM CRUSH THAT DREAM. Whatever happens to You, Keep Dreaming. Even when they crush your hopes, Keep Dreaming. Even when they turn you away, Keep Dreaming.

Even when they shut you down, Keep Dreaming. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF EXCEPT YOURSELF! People will judge You by HOW you look. And by WHAT You have.
But please, Fight on! Fight for Your place in history. Fight for your glory. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!
Even if it means selling all your clothes and sleeping with the dogs, ITS OKAY! But AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL ALIVE, your STORY IS NOT OVER. TRUST ME.

WHAT YOU CANNOT EAT AS BREAKFAST

If I may ask you this, "do you think you can eat both your Lunch and Dinner as your breakfast"?

Situation can cause you to eat anything as your breakfast even when you do not feel like eating that particular meal but you dare not eat your lunch and dinner as your breakfast meal.
Do you think it is literally possible to eat your lunch and dinner as breakfast?

Now let us be practical about this, some have tried to eat their lunch as breakfast but the eventual result ended up as a disaster. A case study is Esau who because of his haste to gratify his hunger sold his birth right just because of a plate of porridge. He thought then that his birth right wasn't really a major priority but preferred to fill up his tommy instead.

Patience is an important tool in delaying immediate gratification. If you are the type of person that has been seeking for admission into University for a number of time and you have been experiencing set back in form of failure but you think the best way to overcome the misfortune is to look for a crook ( cheating and all sort of corruptible act) way. You might eventually gain the admission but there is always a repercussion that follows. It may not happen immediately but when it occurs it will be very disastrous. It will eventually tell in the future of the person.

A lady that was so desperate to get marry by all means eventually got a man that pretended to be there for her but she eventually regretted embarking on a marital journey with the husband because she never experienced a day happiness in her matrimony. She was eventually brutally murdered by her husband. If she had waited and seek for God's face more, she wouldn't have fallen into the hands of the murderer.

A middle age man that has been predestined to prosper but due to his present predicament, he eventually embarked on a money ritual. The ritual was successful but he never enjoyed the prosperity for more than a year before he eventually turns mad. Even throughout the one year he couldn't sleep comfortably because he had to sleep with some deity that has been possessed with evil spirit and power every night. If he hadn't eaten his lunch as breakfast, he would have become a prosperous person and enjoyed it with longer years.

The moral lesson here is that no matter the situation we find ourselves, we should be PATIENT. Don't ever try to help God out in your present predicament. God's time is always the best. A big testimony always takes patience to manifest. Look at how many years it took Abraham and Sarah to give birth to Isaac (a promise child). It also took Isaac and Rebekah many years before the prophecy of giving birth to two great nations which finally came to past. It took Zechariah and Elizabeth many years before the front runner of Christ (John the Baptist) was born.
If Absalom had been patient, he would have succeeded his father’s (David) throne but he was in haste to overthrow his father and to become the next king even though David was still alive. The kingship was however given to Solomon due to Absalom lack of patience.
Patience is the ability to bear or suffer. Are you ready to bear your present situation?
Be patience, trust God, and have the faith that God will grant you a total recovery of your lost time in your course of waiting and compensate you with uncommon Grace.
