Hailo is a free app designed to make getting a Black Cab Taxi in London super easy. It’s all pretty straight forward but executed brilliantly. Launch the app let it use your current location and it will quickly estimate how quickly a cab could be with you in.

If you prefer you can manually choose a different location by dragging the map and booking a cab to pick you up there. You do need to register for the first time but once this is done getting a cab around London should be a doddle.

I had a chance to test Hailo out when visiting London recently and it worked as you would expect. Would be fantastic to see it expand and rolled out nationally.

oneSafe is a universal app for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad etc. It promises to keep your private information safe using 256 bit AES encryption. oneSafe is competing in an already overcrowded niche app market against some real heavyweights such as 1Password/LastPass/SplashID and many others etc.

When you first launch oneSafe you are offered to set up a pass code. I like how this is presented with various methods to choose from including a pin code to a unique swipe gesture. And if one method isn’t enough you can opt to have two login methods before anyone can get in.

Where oneSafe differentiates itself from its main competition is the inclusion of secure file storage for files, documents and photos.

One feature I wouldn’t use myself but could be useful to someone dealing with highly sensitive information is that after 3 failed login attempts you can have it ‘self destruct’ and delete all the info stored inside. I wouldn’t recommend using this to most people as it would be all to easy for a mischievous or just nosey friend/partner or even the owner if you have fat fingers/forgetful memory etc but it is optional.

overall oneSafe is a fairly intuitive app. The user interface is well thought out and easy to use. It’s free too download but is limited to adding only 5 items. This should be enough to give it a spin and decide whether its worth the $5.99 price tag to unlock.

Where oneSafe falls short imo is the way everything is displayed as a card. This is fine for a few logins and the backgrounds are customisable but for anyone with a large amount of data being stored you could quite quickly find yourself rummaging for the details you want. I would like to see more customisable layout options in a future update to address this.

There is also no Mac/Windows client for syncing between while this may not be a deal breaker to some I couldn’t live without having full sync capabilities across all my devices in my workflow.

Final thoughts: oneSafe shows a lot of potential and offers a strong contender to many of the already established apps in the same market. As long as the developers are committed and keep plugging away with updates and improvements it could potentially dethrone the heavyweights. So if you’re in the market for a fully featured password manager, file storage etc then you should definitely download and try oneSafe for free.

oneSafe allows you to:

• Easily create, view, edit items and keep them in order
• Take advantage of the ready-made templates to enter details
• Automatically log into websites
• Manage and safely store all your documents (Word, Excel, PDF)
• Perform a manual back-up to restore all your saved personal information
• Easily copy & paste complex usernames and passwords
• Modify the textures, materials and colors of each item
• Mark any item as a favorite for fast access
• Perform fast searches in the database with a simple to use, but powerful search capability
• Synchronize information between several devices (available soon)

Safe storage for:
• Credit card numbers and entry codes
• Social security numbers
• Bank accounts and tax numbers
• Usernames and passwords
• Create your own templates!
• Documents like PDF, Word, Excel
• Your secret pictures

Agenda Calendar 2.0 has just been released and with it brings a universal iOS app compatible with both iPhone and iPad’s. Agenda is a beautifully hand crafted calendar app. The app focuses on keeping it simple whilst managing to execute the balance of form and function extremely well.

If you just want a simple way to manage your events then Agenda has you covered. The layout is uncluttered and therefore really simple to follow.

But if you need more advanced calendar management Agenda still has you covered with the ability to sync effortlessly with Google, Exchange and MobileMe calendars.

One of the things I like most about Agenda Calendar is that pretty much everything can be achieved from the main screen using various swipe gestures for moving through the navigation.

It’s not often, in fact it’s incredibly rare I review and recommend an app that competes with one of Apples own default iOS apps and can actually do it better. I’m really pleased to say after having tested Agenda heavily for the last few days on an iPhone and iPad for managing my complete and hectic agenda for the next few months it’s now my go to calendar and sits proudly on my home screen.

Verdict: A must own calendar app 5/5

Ever wondered or been told you talk in your sleep? Partners and friends have been telling me for years I talk in my sleep but I have always doubted them. So when I came across this Sleep Recorder app recently it piqued my interest and at only $0.99/£0.69 it was worth trying to find out.

Its extremely simple you load the app set how long it should wait after being started before monitoring and it does the rest. I was surprised at just how well it works. On my iPhone 4 it doesn’t zap as much of my battery as I was expecting either.

It works in the background monitoring for noises. You can choose from three levels of sensitivity, as soon as it detects noise above the sensitivity chosen threshold it begins to record.

When you wake up you may have 14+ clips to go through a lot of these may just be rustling around etc.

For the first 3 nights I used Sleep Talk I didn’t talk at all and was beginning to think I didn’t, on the 4th night I finally captured something. And most nights since.

What have I discovered using this app? Well I do talk in my sleep but I also swear like a trooper. Some of the cursing has left me in stitches and cringing at the same.

There is also a feature to export and/or share your clips either to an email, twitter or the Sleep Talk website where others can listen in and rate your clips. Be careful though it seems a lot of people swear in their sleep so while its good fro a laugh its certainly not for work safe.

5/5

So we were pretty excited when we discovered not much more than a year after its original release the developers have followed up with a sequel.

Quell Reflect stays true to what made the original so great and manages to integrate several unique new additions that keep the game fresh and challenging.

If you haven’t played the original I would seriously suggest you get both and play it first as its a timeless classic. 5/5

Ever said to yourself those weather folk are rubbish at predicting the weather? Think you can do better? With Weddar for iPhone now you can.

Weddar offers an interesting twist on your usual weather app in that its powered purely by its users rather than machines. The social element is what makes it so interesting. People compete much like becoming a mayor of your favourite hang out spot on foursquare or gowalla etc.

One reviewer said:

I am coming for the top spot….. This is not weddar but.. WAR! …

The biggest down side to Weddar in the UK is the current lack of users. However as it grows in popularity this will change so if anything now an opportunity to cement yourself as the #1 Weddar reporter in the UK.

At the moment you can currently only register using either a twitter or facebook account. But the developers have announced an alternative independent registration service will be added soon.

We have all done it. Reformatted the computer without making a backup of our iTunes library file. Then the realisation dawns on you and you start searching the web for software that will extract your music from your iDevice back to your computer.

There are tons of applications that promise to do this free and paid they are however for the most part very hit and miss which can be a frustrating experience.

Enter SongExporter for iPhone/iPad and iPod Touches. The only thing SongExporter requires is that you have a wireless network at home. It works across all operating systems and is about as simple as it gets to use.

Open the device and individually select the music you wish to export or 1 click for all songs. Optionally set a password then connect to the local address in your browser and start downloading your music.

The advantages of SongExporter over other software is that its universal for all Operating Systems, Its simple and besides the app requires no additional software to be installed.

From our tests SongExporter worked flawlessly and hassle free making it well worth the purchase price. 5/5

Grazing – Web Browser

Grazing is a new universal web browsing app for iPad and iPhone’s. I haven’t tested it on the iPad yet so this review will be focused on the iPhone v2 of Grazing.

When I heard about grazing I was intrigued. You have to be confident in your product to go up against a native app such as Safari and most browsers I have tested have failed to live up to or provide a better experience than Safari for iPhone/iPad.

Grazing is about the closest to a full web browser experience I have come across in any browser app to date. That in itself is quite an achievement.

Here is an overview of some of the features included:

 Fullscreen: Drag the toolbar up or down to show your tabs or enter fullscreen mode.

 Thumb controls: Slide your thumb in to hit common commands on the Slidepad.

 Touch optimized: Just pan back and forth to switch tabs. Plus gestures, helpful overlays, and more.

 Save links with your favorite services, including Instapaper, ReadItLater, Delicious, PinBoard, and more.

 Sharing with Twitter and Facebook.

 Searching Multiple search engines, always open in a new tab, search based on selected text, find-on-page, and more.

 Ad Blocking, set your cookie preferences, and tell websites you don’t want to be tracked with Do Not Track.

 Custom user agents – tell specific sites you’re a desktop browser to avoid iPad blocking or redirecting.

Grazing has some very innovative features that include multiple ways to view tabs. My favorite by far is simply swiping left to right across the screen. This feature alone is worth the current price, it feels very natural and has certainly increased my productivity. You can also swipe up from the bottom menu bar to view current tabs with a screen shot or tap the tabs button for a view much like in safari.

Grazing even includes a flurry of screen gestures for quickly jumping between tabs, moving back and forward between pages and opening new tabs.

To enter full screen mode simply tap & swipe the address bar upwards and do the opposite to bring it back.

Another feature I thought was a nice touch is that Grazing shows the sites favicon in the address bar.

Its obvious a great amount of thought has been put into the main features as well as the small details and it shows.

The bad? At the moment Grazing doesn’t offer the most fluid of interactions. Currently some gestures and actions look and feel/look sluggish and clunky. I sincerely hope these can be addressed in a future version as I could this app becoming my default browser.

At its introduction price it really is a no brainer we’re confident you will love it’s features and innovative use of tab switching, gestures, search and more.

Panamp is an interesting audio player for you music library. They face some steep competition in that the music player from Apple does a pretty good job as it is and has the advantage of being native.

However saying that Panamp offers some interesting features that make a refreshing change from the usual way of managing your music and playlists.

One of the best features is the ability to create dynamic playlists or ‘Queues’ of tracks you choose with a swipe. This feels incredibly intuitive in use.

A swipe in the opposite direction will find all songs by that artist, their tracks and related albums.

The bottom bar displays the current playing song with scrobbler below and various shuffle options. Tapping the song will take you to it in the library view. Swiping to the left will start the next song and swiping to the right will play the previous song.

It has all the usual layout views you would expect from a robust music player from displaying all songs to albums which can be expanded with a touch as well as artists which again will expand to show their albums and again to show all songs within the selected album.

There is also an included demo which is well worth viewing to get to grips with all the features and to make the most out of Panamp.

They have even included support for iCloud, Airplay and control via the remote headset and it just works with your current music library there’s no need to add songs or import anything just sync as normal with iTunes.

Overview: Panamp offers an innovative way to seamlessly interact with your music. Highly reccomended for not just audiophiles but anyone who wants fast access to their music without sacrificing control.

War Girmoire is a tower defence game. The first thing you will notice when loading up War Girmoire for the first time is the level of detail and effort put into the sprites.

It looks stunning. You start with an intro which can feel fairly long winded at points but helps you understand the mechanics behind the game and it can be quite technical so it’s worth paying attention. War Girmoire includes tons of options and abilities that go above and beyond your average TD game.

For a start there are 60 types of weapons each of which can be upgraded in various ways depending on your play style. There are 30 Levels and a further 6 mini games that unlock further weapons!

War Girmoire may be the most technical and complete TD game ever created and that’s some feat. Any TD fans will not be disappointed.

Being a big TD fan myself WG has almost become an addiction where I often find myself losing hours while I perfect my strategy.

Overview: A beautiful and technical TD and a must own for anyone who likes this genre of game. 5/5

There are a lot of weather apps already on the appstore, so what’s different about shine, and why is it worth buying?

Lets start with the User Interface. Shine is no doubt a beautiful app to look at. A lot of effort has been put into the UI and it shows. They haven’t just cracked the looks though, the whole interface is extremely simple and intuitive to use.

At a glance you can view the current weather with an image that suggests what it may be like outside. A long with the current wind speed. Below this it shows a forecast for later in the day and then in the evening as well as the following day. With an horizontal slide of the finger you can view a brief forecast for the the rest of week.

You can also slide vertically to view an hourly breakdown of a forecast for the next 3 days. Which can really help if your planning something specific to time it for the perfect moment or get an idea how long the weather may last.

This is essence is what shine is all about. Giving you the weather quickly and effortlessly all wrapped up in a sleek finish.

My only criticism was the decision to omit the degrees symbol. Sure it looks cleaner and its obvious which number is the temperature but I would still like to see the symbol there as it’s just ingrained into me that one should be present. Hardly a deal breaker though.

Overall I have tried literally dozens of weather apps with all sorts of gimmicks and features. Of those I still have 5 installed (inc the default weather app). And Shine has already become my favorite of the bunch which really says a lot about it’s potential.
