In an announcement published to its website, Apple confirmed that it is introducing a redesigned blood oxygen feature to "some" Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models on August 14.

The returning feature will be part of an iOS 18.6.1 and watchOS 11.6.1 update.

Apple hasn't said exactly what it has done to get around its patent dispute. It did say that the move was "enabled by a recent U.S. Customs ruling."

"Apple iPhone 17 Pro model milling aluminum body chassis has leaked," wrote yeux1122 on Chinese social media site Weibo (in translation). "The camera bump area shown by many renderings was confirmed to be a whole aluminum structure, not glass."

The new store opens just a week after Apple made the rare move of closing a store permanently. That was the Parkland Apple Store in Dalian, Liaoning, and the new one is opening in Shenzen — a region that already has Apple research labs and also manufacturing.

"We celebrate the opening of Apple's Qianhai Yifang City retail store [in Shenzen] with excitement," said Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice president of retail business and human resources, in a statement (in translation.) Google Chrome

The Department of Justice has repeatedly demanded for Google to sell off Chrome, after being deemed a monopolist in 2024. While little has actually happened to offload the browser so far, one company is keen to get its hands on the software.

According to the Wall Street Journal, AI startup Perplexity has made an offer to acquire Chrome from Google. That offer is said to be $34.5 billion in cash.

One of the problems with chip production is that manufacturers are usually locked into a few specific chip designs, due to the expense and difficulty of creating each one. However, using a new technique will potentially allow TSMC to provide Apple with far more flexibility than ever before.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on Tuesday, Eternal Materials has been named as an advanced packaging materials supplier to TSMC. Eternal will become the only supplier of the liquid molding compound (LMC) and molding underfill (MUF), used to encapsulate chips, for Apple's 2026 iPhone and Mac chip generations.

The iPhone 17 Air will be replacing the Plus model in the 2025 roster of iPhone 17 models. However, while the new version could prove a big success for Apple, it won't be the most powerful.

In a Tuesday post to Weibo, serial leaker Fixed Focus Digital posted that the iPhone 17 Air will have "almost all the configurations of the Pro," according to a machine translation.
