Jeesh, I know that the question didn't quite fit their question types (Lost Keys, or how to Install Keys), but I was directed to that form by their phone supoprt. Some support. They could at least have re-directed it.

Ok, bit of a mix up, apperantly it was my posts in the forums that were removed. Why? No free speech? Don't want other customers to back me up?

Anyhow, the support reply is as follows:

Apple welcomes and appreciates your comments. Customer feedback is vital to Apple's goal of improving Apple products and services. Your comments will be forwarded to the appropriate Apple division.

What appropriate division is that? Email recycling program? If they even respond, I wouldn't be surprised if it follows up as:

Thank you, your feedback was extremely valuable. Get stuffed.

Still waiting for their final answer.

The following is an email I sent to Apple's support. They promise to respond within 24hrs. I'll post their reply when it comes.

Dear Sirs,

I am somewhat disappointed with your Quicktime upgrade system. I have 6.5 PRO key and am forced to make it useless if I upgrade to your Quicktime 7 version that is required to watch all the new content on the Internet such as trailers. I should not be required to purchase another key (because I still want to be able to use Pro features), just to watch movies in a player that is FREE for everyone. I believe to be entitled to the features I paid for AND the ability to watch QT7 content.

I suggest two solutions:
1) Provide free upgrades for all your Pro customers.
2) Make Free and PRO versions separate (maybe make PRO a plugin), allowing customers to retain their PRO keys when upgrading to new versions.

If this issue is not resolved satisfactorily, we regret to inform you that we’ll have to resort to desperate measures. We are planning a strong community response. There will be an official Apple denunciation day on Dec. 26th, in Sooke, British Columbia, Canada, when everyone will be encouraged to gather in the town square and fuel the bonfire with Apple products and/or produce. We shall also be holding an obscene limerick contest about Steve Jobs. The local band Dirty Rotten Apple Eaters will perform their favorites This Apple is Rotten and Even Bill Gates Is Better, Sort Of. The local employment center will be preparing a conference "Better No Jobs then Steve Jobs".
This shall go out all over the web and blogs including Digg.com. You can follow our progress through a blog we’ve set up for this purpose: applestinks.blogspot.com. I will also take the time to file a complaint with FTC.gov.

If you would like to contribute to our campaign, don't hesitate to do so. We can always use Apple merchandise for our bonfire.

Here's why me and others are angry, why I created this blog, and why you should support and spread it:

I buy QT Pro 6.5 in March ('05) and a little later Apple releases QT 7, an upgrade to a FREE player that everyone technically has a right to, even those with previous Pro licences. Yet those (like me) with a purchased license of any earlier version cannot upgrade their player without making their purchased licence useless. Now we can't watch any of the new material (such as trailers...this video requires QT7!!!)... something we would have if we decided not to pay up for a so called "pro" version. I call that bad business. I shouldn't have to be forced to pay for what others get FREE.

What should be if Apple wasn't so greedy (haven't they made enough with the iPod to last them through retirement?) is that I upgrade my FREE player andstill use the features I paid for I repeat... I shouldn't have to be forced to pay for what others get FREE. Am I the only one that sees it that way?

Is this how Apple hopes to make satisfied customers? And they expect me to dump Windows and get an Mac... ya right.

Summary: I want to keep my 6.5 Key AND get my QT7 player. I should not be forced to give up my Pro Key to watch new content on the web. Too much to ask?

Here are the options I have for Apple: Either provide free upgrades for all your Pro customers, or draw a line between the Free and PRO, allowing users to retain their PRO keys when upgrading to new versions.
