The LG Spectrum is an unassuming addition to Verizon’s growing 4G LTE smartphone line-up. While it doesn’t possess a lot of flair or flash, it’s a solid and reliable device that gets the job done. The Spectrum has a decent camera, decent battery life and a pretty decent display. In all, it’s pretty decent, but nothing more and not much less.

If you’re looking for a modestly-priced Android smartphone with LTE capabilities (compared to the $300 monsters being released these days), the $199.99 LG Spectrum fits the bill. I do have a few issues with it, however, such as the slippery casing and its sometimes slow UI, but it will be a great phone for many users. Or perhaps just good enough.

Good:

• 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM makes the user experience generally lag-free
• Very fast 4G LTE speeds
• Sharp, 4.5” HD display with great viewing angles

Bad:

• Slick and shiny casing makes the phone slippery, prone to fingerprints
• Call quality is a little tinny and inconsistent
• Touch response wasn’t always immediate and/or accurate

Following the trail of a particularly gruesome serial killer, Special Enquiry Detail: Engaged to Kill still finds the time to include some entertaining one-liners and a dose of black humor, just like CSI. Within the six chapters of gameplay, there’s plenty of variety too. Some investigation of crime scenes is required to find special items to proceed, as well as simple interviewing of witnesses and suspects.
