Hey! Shim Here! I’m not sure if I can put this any better than Warez does, but “RL>MS”. The final straw for me was AVAN. That was the point where maple had stopped being a game for me. I cannot bring myself to play the game anymore, or even remotely touch the icon on my desktop, (partially because FURRY FANDOM has taken over my entire life.) and hasn’t been patched for at least 10 updates by this point..Though this isn’t about me.

Is amazing, that you all managed to stay faithful for us for so long, you put up with our constant delays, just to listen to half-baked information that you all heard months before the episode came out. You’d think we were Nintendo or something. You may be wondering why we decided to stop, of course, but all things have to come to an end someday. We decided that this end was the 6 month mark, and anything we could have possibly been covering back then, which was old news, would even be less relevant now.

I’m not as well spoken as Warez is, so this whole entire goodbye may come as a bit choppier than it normally is, but I want to give personal thanks to everybody who contributed, sent in their e-mails and v-mails to us, (We read them all on our own time, even if they never made it to the podcast), the guests, and especially Bag3l and Spazzcakes, for dealing with our unorganized mayhem all the time, and all of you listeners, for supporting us all the way, and continuing to be faithful to Aqua Road Radio, even when under new management by the end. And everybody who came to our parties, even if they weren’t much above “Cause chaos in the middle of henesys.”

Our time here was fun, and I really wish Warez, the man running this, could be the one to post this,

Episode 20 Wha?Who?…Huh?

Long awaited and already outdated!
I got a little overworked working on my part of the script; worrying about getting it just right. But Shim finally cajolled me into just recording. I figured I’d better just to shut him up. It actually turned out pretty well, winging it a lot like Shrav and I used to with special guest, Erin.

Like in the previous episode were struggles. I was very nasally and breathy through large parts of it as I was still fighting off a bad head cold. There is hiss from Shim’s end, but I still overpower him with outrageous ssssssssssssssibalence at times. Erin seems a bit shy at first but really gets going later. We’ll get this podcasting thing down yet. But in the meantime you all can make fun of us as we continue to learn.

Episode 19 – Windbreaking!

Delays for the Holidays,
Spazzy struggled with editing, I got sick….acute bacterial pnuemonia in the right lung. But with my antibiotics and yummy codeine cough syrup, I feel better, but it was besides the point as the episode had not uploaded so i couldnt have done anything anyway.

So heres our lastest long and rambly discourse with features old and new. Very new and interesting to many of you. We have as a guest one Chii, an entertaining young lady, so you’ll enjoy this. We get pretty loopy later on, so prepare yourselves to mock us. xD Stayed tuned for a special announcement after the playback finishes.

Like I said there are some quirks in this edit (a diff. one may upload at some point). Highlights of these quirks for you fans of minutae: From Minute 104 to 108 the show starts over in the background and it gets quite weird for 4 minutes! At Minute 140 Chii answers my question before I ask it. Shes a clever time traveller! During the vmail playback you can hear Shim and me laughing. I want to state clearly that this is at things we are typing to each other and not at the vmails. We’ve already listened to the vmails a dozen times by then and are thinking ahead to the next segment. I think this is obvious, but wanted to state it anyway.

So here it is warts and all….enjoy. And we hope your Holidays are going great and wish you a grand new year.

Yeah yeah I know we said we would never do this but……Well see many listeners have joined HS-Windia over the past months and while the attention was welcome by HS, there was a bit of friction. Not really negative, but HiddenStreet is a very purpose driven guild and listeners were joining just because they were listeners and not from any commitment to the HS mission. And life in HS really does require sticking to a strict Code of Honor. So to make life easier for all concerned….Shim (Shnoof) and I (MysticWarez) made an ARR guild (thanks to co-founders Spazz, Erin, sick and Winter.) We will still enforce legitness, but it should be a more relaxed atmosphere than HS. You are still free to apply to HS, but be prepared to meet and live up to the standards. The only requirement for the ARR guild is that you are a listener and post here on the blogsite once.

Upon a genius suggestion from IcyTheBandit, I am working on a Guild page here! Cleeeeck on the Guilds page……do it Nao!

Episode 18 – Good grief…Her again!

Happy Halloween. We were in the twilight Zone for this episode. You can tell because we’re kind of spacey and rambly in the beginning, but we get more coherent as it goes on. Spazzcakes did really well at the transition editing, but struggled with volume equalization. (Many people have told me that they notice the volume issues, but that it is acceptable as is. Therefore we will concentrate efforts on the upcoming episode, instead of trying to improve this one!)

This is another long episode. After I said we’d try to make them shorter. -_- We cover Singapore, then there is a lot of listener contributed features. Two Newbie Tips, a HotSpot, a Quest Corner, a Party Center, Bag3l’s newest Jukebox (ty Bag3l), another HotSpot, another Quest Corner and finally a ton of vmails and emails.

We need to make these things shorter….no really. xD

Hello Listeners! I finally struggled all the way up the editing learning curve and got episode 17 online. We record over 3 hours of audio which i edited down to 2 hour and 50-something minutes. my work isn’t as good as Shravan’s was, but it is listenable.

This is a double upped episode. We start out covering the new Masteria expansion (yes its been that long.) Then we have DOUBLE HotSpots, a Party Centers, AND Quest Corners in one episode! Bag3l is back with another ARR Jukebox. So enjoy~!!

I’m sorry to announce that Shravan is on permanent (likely) hiatus. He felt it was time to make the break. His schedule was so busy already that he hardly had time for MS. He will be concentrating on his last semester of college and getting his first job. It is likely to be a long time before we see him again, if ever.

I however am no where near quitting. I feel like I just got done with a break. Also I did what grieving I needed to last time I think. Maple is a lot like life. Things change. People come into your life and leave it again. Sadness and joy intertwined. Time to move on.

I’ve already lined up a co-host for the next ep. If you like him, let him know. If not……lets hear some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. The script is shaping up and recordings are trickling in. Let it be a flood! If you’ve been working on something; finish it and send it nao! I’m not stopping this time. Gonna hit the ground running.

Hey guys! ^_^ We’ve finally got episode 16 up and running. We say it’s short, but really it’s like 2.5 hours long. >_> I think we’re becoming numb to the length of these things.

Anyhooses, we’ve got quite an episode for you about all sorts of various things. There’s even a bit in there about private servers for those of you who are interested. We also have a Newbie Tip, a HotSpot, a Party Center, AND a Quest Corner all wrapped up in this episode. Bag3l came through as well and provided us with a 2nd installment of the ARR Jukebox, which, from what I’ve heard so far, you guys have enjoyed. There’s also a great explanation of the backstory of Masteria.

So we still like the T-shirt idea and we REALLY want to make it work, but so far, we haven’t gotten many responses from you guys. T_T So hurry up and get your vote to us if you haven’t yet! Hey guys! ^_^

First of all, let me apologize for all the delays incurred. We wanted to record on the 21st, but we had that whole Tespia thing we wanted to try out. In the end, it worked, so I guess it was a good thing, but due to scheduling conflicts, Warez and I weren’t able to record until this last Wednesday. I would have had this up by Saturday night, but Audacity decided to somehow change the name of the file and all the paths and not find the file when I only had another 1/2 hour left to edit.

So I gave up on Audacity and got/tried an new program called Amadeus Pro (yes, Amadeus is Mozart’s middle name) and it works BEAUTIFULLY. So I’ll definitely be dishing out some cash to get this (it’s not free, but it’s not like $599 like all those super professional applications).

Anyway, enough with my excuses.

This episode features…..surprise! Newbie Tips. Actually, that’s what it was supposed to feature, but the News took up like over half the time and by the time we got the the Newbie Tips we were pretty much like the living dead. We made a couple of predictions on Patch 0.57 (we recorded the night they were patching) and some of them came true. ^_^

Also, I ask you all to pay attention to the ending (somewhere around when I declare it’s time for the closing notes). We have a question for you guys that needs answering ASAP. =P

Hi everybody! ^_^

I really wanted to get this out by this morning, but the FTP software I use was acting up, so I actually had to upload it through a website, which took FOREVER. Also, the episode ended up being just over 2 hours and 24 minutes long. It took a total of 12 hours and 15 minutes to edit (5 PM to 10:15 PM one night and 10 PM to 5:30 AM last night >_>). I guess we were rusty or something. T_T

Anyway, we cover like 7 patches and Warez ended up writing like a 8 page Party Center segment, so we’ve got quite the episode for you. We also talked a bit about marketing in MapleStory and how to go about making and saving some money. This week’s Newbie Tip is about security: what you can do to prevent hackers from getting to your account.

So hope you guys enjoy our first episode back and we hope to hear from a lot of you. ^_^

To celebrate the 3rd year of MS, the return of the prodigal Shravan and new episodes of ARR I hereby announce our Second Listener Appreciation Party!!!! I’m thinking June 7, that easy to remember! It’s a Saturday and a new episode should be out a good while by then. Hopefully that will be enough time for the people who don’t come to this blog-site, but just listen to the podcast. It gives the loyal blog readers extra heads up; spread the word ok? I don’t want to wait longer.

It will be in the evening, 4:30 PST (7:30 EST) is equally inconvenient to a majority of our listeners. We need a better location; I am thinking that the bowman job place, where Athena Pierce is, would be awesome. It’s easy for a new character to get to. If you don’t know where it is, just go to the HPQ area and keep walking right. It is a nice big indoor area that’s almost always abandoned and lots of outside area where we can spill over. And I do believe that a person could spawn a MM there (subtle hint). We will officially welcome Shravan back and I will give away some door prizes (You have to chat me on location to register for the prizes.) Hope to see you there!

Man, Leva….get a grip please…. although you do have a small point. Sorry for going AWOL (absent w/o leave ..a military term) folks. I just got swamped in the start of this year. I had all good intentions to carry on and was totally sincere about tentative dates. I got overwhelmed at work (new promotion and responsibilities) and at home and even in MS….guild hack crisis amongst other things. So I do feel a bit bad about not updating the blog to let you guys in…..so thats what I’ll give to you Neva. ON THE OTHER HAND…..we never promised anyone a rose garden. In point of fact we have gone to great pains to tell all listeners NOT to count on us LOLS. Can I quote myself? “WE ARE UN – RE – LI – A – BLE !”

I can’t remember how many times we said things like this. Guess what Leva? Although we are starting it up again ………WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP PODCASTING AT ANY POINT AND WITHOUT WARNING!!!! You can bank on us having good reasons for it if it does happen, and we will inform you if possible, but we have to have priorities. As I have said to many people in game, mine go like this: Family>Career>Health>Happiness>MapleStory>Podcast. Sorry, I truly do value you listeners, but you guys are at the end of that priority chain. Simply HAS to be that way. Or else RL will get hosed for me and I COULDNT do a podcast if my life depended on it. If you are to be mentally healthy you must have a priority chain similar to that AND ………. NEVER count on something like a podcast to bring you happiness. You have no control over it. Don’t COUNT on what you don’t have control over and you chances for happiness are much better.

On nicer note…..my RL pressures are easing up lately and show signs that it will continue. This will free up time that can be used for podcasting purposes. xD Its an awesome sign that I can write this at work; my lunch break is often when I did research and wrote stuff for the show. This is the first week this year that I have had lunchtime open. Also I am reviewing the hodgepodge of material that I did work on in the interim and see much that can be used soon or in the future. I want to continue pushing for things started in the break. For example, much greater listener input and occasional guests and guest co-hosts to bring in much requested views from other worlds and jobs.

Looking back I think I was needing a break from it. Well I got one. We’ll try to set it up so that it can be a little smoother if we need breaks in the future, but remember don’t count on it………..we’re unreliable.

ARR lives!!

Hi ….Warez here,

I am going to carry on. For now I plan to solo. Maybe it’s grief speaking, but I can’t see replacing Shravan. It wouldn’t be right. However I can see the possibility of guests or even guest hosts at some point. A solo gig is going to be harder so…….

1. It will likely be shorter.

2. It will be harder to be funny. I mean that’s true; it doesnt’t matter who you are.

3. It will be less ambitious, at least at first.

4. The format could change a bit.

So….cut me some slack OK? There are some good things that might come of Shravan’s hiatus. There are people who want to contribute. There may be some more “communitiness”. For example a guildie of mine named Jinn is working on video elements. Check his work out (see link in comments).

Please give me feedback here and put comments about this change here and not under Ep.12 comments.

Episode 12 – Christmas Cactus

In Episode 12, we discuss patches of the past. Basically, we talk about pretty much everything that happened during the Christmas season. The News mainly centered around this and we had a few other discussions about things such as 4th Job!. ^_^ So I know all you guys are waiting around for this patch to finish up so that you can go play some MS. Good luck to you guys in 4th job and we hope you enjoy this episode.

I’d also like to announce that I (Shravan) am quitting MapleStory for a while, and therefore, quitting ARR. I’ve begun that there are other things I’d like to do with my time (eg: take guitar lessons), and the spring semester is just about to start so I figured it was a good time to call it quits. But MapleStory’s like super-addictive, so I doubt that I’ll be gone for good. I’m hoping to come back sometime around June (when Summer break starts again). Until then, take care guys. ^_^

Muhahahaha! Finally! This week was sooooooo chock full of homework, that although we recorded this episode last Saturday, I didn’t have time to edit it until today. Actually, if you notice, there’s a new addition to the sidebar. It’s an “Episode Timer” that gives you guys the status of the next episode. ^_^ Also, I know a couple of you guys have asked about getting some kind of chat box up on this site so you can talk to each other and/or us, and it’s a great idea, but we’re still trying to figure out how to work out some of the little details.

Hey guys! ^_^ So we were all ready to record and then, out of nowhere, we get this patch, and all of a sudden, we’re way behind on everything. This patch wasn’t even like a minor thing. It gave us two new cities to look through and explore. But in the end, we managed to record it relatively quickly, so here it is. ^_^

In News this episode, we discuss the new and upcoming MapleStory Anime, Giant Tomatoes, MapleThai, and, of course, Patch Ver. 0.41. It’s quite a bit to take in and this episode runs a little less than 1.5 hours. ^_^

This week, we brought around Newbie Tips for the 2nd time and even included a whole new section called Quest Corner. Hotspots also made its second appearance and we hope that all three are useful to you guys.

Episode 6 – VR Meets RL

Hey everyone! ^_^ It’s been quite a while since the last episode came out and I know you’re all itching to listen to it. I know you guys don’t want to listen to excuses, but Warez and I got this episode out as soon as we could. I’m in the last week of my summer internship (done in 2 days!) and, therefore, have been overrun with last minute work.

We would like to thank you guys for being patient and understanding.

Well…for those of you who are wondering about the title, VR = “Virtual Reality” and RL = “Real Life”, just to clear that up. ^_^ We’ve been getting a few questions about it.

In this episode, we ramble on and on about the most random things. However, we do touch a few important topics. For instance, we talk all about New Leaf City, along with Patch v.0.40. ^_^

The news items this week, in our opinion are some of the best we’ve had and I’m sure you guys will feel just as offended or horrified as we were at some of them. You can find the links to the news items below. ^_^

Hello everyone! ^_^

So here’s the thing. As most everyone knows, the last Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out this weekend. Now, being a crazed fan of the series, I’ve already finished the book. So anyway, because of my fanaticism, Warez and I have decided to postpone the 6th episode of Aqua Road Radio until the weekend of August 4th.

Sorry guys, but yeah…basically, we’re skipping out on this week. >_>

Hey everyone. Episode #5 of Aqua Road Radio is out and do we have a show for you! ^_^ Just to let you all know, there’s plenty of times in this episode where the subject matter kinda goes off-topic, but hopefully, you guys will like it and hopefully it doesn’t bore you to death. ^_^

As for the Rant thingy, which is apparently, becoming less and less of a rant as we go along….we talk about our best and worst experiences of our MapleStory lives. I’m sure that some of you guys can relate to some of what we mention.

We also asked about a quest section and if you guys would be interested on hearing some of our opinions on various quests. The first suggestion was that we pick a random quest each week and go through all the nitty-gritty stuff about it. The second suggestion consisted of having you guys e-mail us with quests you’d like to hear about and we pick one out of those to go over for the episode. If you guys have any other ideas on how to do this, let us know. =P

Also, one of the e-mails we received, the one from Robert, was about pets and how us Maplers are actually influencing which pets we get. ^_^ It’s a great find. Thanks Robert! For all of those interested in checking it out and hopefully, volunteering some pet suggestions, you can find the GM Blog post here.

Like I stated in the episode, the phone number for the Voicemail Box has changed. The number has been changed on the blog, as you can see, so please use this one from now on. Thanks. ^_^

Episode 4 – A New Patch! (v. 0.39)

Hey guys. Sorry this episode’s a couple of days late. I’ve been so busy with quite a few things, so I wasn’t even able to THINK about this episode until this last Monday. And I figured if I put it off for another couple weeks, everyone would be disappointed, so I worked as fast as I could to get this out as soon as possible.

Well…all that aside, A LOT has happened since the last episode. We had a new patch, which consisted of new places, new quests, and new Cash Shop items, so the News section is quite long. Because of this, the Rant is kinda cut short. But it’s about enjoyment outside training. ^_^

I received a few voicemails, which is amazing, and a MYRIAD of e-mails. I wasn’t able to read all the e-mails on the episode and I hope no one feels offended by it. It’s just that there’s not enough time in the world to go through them all. Also please realize that I don’t just read out the first few e-mails I get and that I attempt to respond to each and every e-mail I receive. =P

Well…oh…before I go, the Voicemail Box phone number will be changing after June 30th. I believe that if you call the new number before June 30th, you’ll get a busy/fax tone thing, so don’t call it and spare yourselves the pain. But…AFTER JUNE 30TH THE ORIGINAL VOICEMAIL BOX NUMBER WILL STOP WORKING!!!! So yeah…Both numbers will be in the sidebar on the blog, and the old number will be taken down after it stops serving its purpose.

Episode 3 – Uncouth Youth

Hey guys. ^_^

Before I say anything else, let me tell you….this episode is SUPER LONG. It’s been like 2 hours since I finished recording it, and I’m still trying to catch my breath. Well….I hope that the episodes continue to stay this long, but if I don’t get some MP3s instead of e-mails, I don’t know if I can keep it up. So if you can, please get me some MP3s. If not, I’d still love to have your text e-mails. ^_^

So….It’s been a busy couple weeks. My summer internship started and I’ve been working 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Then once I get back home, I’ve been helping my sister study for her finals which are this week, actually.

On a brighter note, I got 12 E-mails and 2 people commenting on the blog. ^_^ It was a mixture of suggestions, comments, rants, etc. I LOVE IT!!! Much love to all those who sent in e-mails or posted comments on the blog. Aqua Road Radio would be nothing without you guys, so keep ’em coming! ^_^

In News this week…..nothing happened. May is over, but the 2nd Anniverasry Event is still underway, though I believe that Double EXP and Double Drop have ended. Hopefully….there’ll be more to talk about next time.

The Rant this episode is about the arrogance of some of the higher level characters. Although it’s more serious than last episode’s rant, I hope you guys enjoy it. ^_^

Well…I promised a few links, so here we go. Finding the right places to train is one of the hardest things to do. If you train at the “conventional” spot for you job and level, there’s almost always too many people there. If you train elsewhere, you usually get less EXP than you could have gotten. Justin asked about places to train, so here’re some sites with guides that I hope will help ^_^.

As for the Maple Story DS trailer…..it is so horribly bad. It makes no sense to me. If someone gets it, please explain this to me. Also, there’s a gameplay video up on YouTube. It shows how the game is actually going to work, and in reality….it looks pretty bad…..

And finally, in response to what John said, Maroon 5’s Nothing Lasts Forever is AMAZING. And in fact, it reminds me of MapleStory every time I hear it. Click “Play” below to listen to it for yourself. ^_^

And now….the MOST IMPORTANT PART. If you look over to the right, under all the profile information, you should see an image that wasn’t there before. An image that says something about “MyChingo”. MyChingo is a site that lets you record yourself using a microphone through a java applet. Just click on the image. It’ll open up the Java applet. Type in your info, hit record, record a message, and click “Send Message” and I’ll get your message in an MP3 format. ^_^ Another way to get your voice up on Aqua Road Radio is through my newly created Voicemail Box. Just dial (641) 985-5999. Dial the extension (29728) and hit the # key. Go ahead and record your message and I’ll be able to download it as an MP3 and slip it right into the podcast. ^_^

Episode 2 – Death to Shumi

So I asked for e-mails of suggestions/comments and got two. -_- Oh well…I guess I can’t really expect much more, considering it was the first episode and just an introduction at that.

Anyway, to finish off some “official” business, it turns out that Aqua Road Radio is not the first MapleStory podcast. Other podcasts such as MapleCast were around long before this one came to be. My apologies to the creators of these other MS podcasts. Additionally, in the first episode, I stated that Aqua Road Radio is not affiliated with HiddenStreet. However, I failed to mention that I am also not affiliated with Nexon, Wiznet, AsiaSoft, or any other company for that matter.

In News, nothing new really happened. As I’m sure all of you are aware of, we are currently experiencing MapleStory Global’s 2nd Anniversary. Maple items and presents will continue to drop and cakes and candles will be seen until the end of the month. Double EXP is from 4 – 6 PM PST on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and from 10 – 12 PM PST on Saturdays and Sundays while double drop is from 4 – 6 PM PST on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Also, there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the banning of European IP addresses from MapleStory Global. First off, as a side note, Kartrider has had all European IP addresses blocked. Nexon states that it is currently only for the North American population. Sorry guys. T_T Regarding MapleStory Global, all current European players will be allowed to keep their accounts and characters on GMS. In the near future, Nexon states that a cut-off date will be announced, after which, Europeans can no longer create new accounts.

Today, we talked about a girl named Shumi and why she’s my (and most probably most others’) least favorite NPC. Also, I asked you guys to e-mail me with your least favorite non-Shumi NPC. In case you forgot, my e-mail is aquaroadradio@gmail.com.

Also, feel free to continue to e-mail me comments and/or suggestions. And in the future, feel free to respond to questions I’ve asked in previous episodes of Aqua Road Radio. Aqua Road Radio: Episode 2

Episode 1 – Welcome To Aqua Road Radio

Welcome to the first episode of Aqua Road Radio. My name is Shravan. You can read all about me to the right side of this page. I’ve been around playing MapleStory since the beta testing of Global MapleStory, but at the time didn’t realize that it was a beta. -_- In fact, I didn’t know until last summer (Summer ’06), when everyone was saying that Maple Global’s only been out for about a year and I knew that I played before that.

Anyway….this episode is more or less just an introduction to Aqua Road Radio. So I’m sure you’re all wondering what this podcast will be about. Well…of course we’ll have news of events, updates, and other such things, but mostly, I see this podcast as being more of me ranting on a subject and then asking you guys to e-mail me your opinions on it. If you have stories of amusing, funny, awkward, or weird moments, please send me an e-mail about it and I might read your story on the podcast. You can also record your own MP3 of your story, if you prefer, and e-mail me that instead. I can slip that right into the podcast and you could have your voice featured. I say “might” and “could” because I can’t guarantee that if you send me something, it’ll end up on Aqua Road Radio. Please keep in mind that it has nothing to do against you, but I can’t put up like 60 (I’m being optimistic…) or so responses in one podcast.

But Aqua Road Radio is more for you guys than me. I mean…you’re the ones listening to it. So let me know what you want to listen to. Give me suggestions and I’ll see if I can incorporate them into the podcast somehow. The first few podcasts are going to be more or less experimental anyway, to get it to the point where you guys actually want to listen to it. ^_^

As it stands, it looks like I’ll be posting a new episode about every 2 weeks. I’ll probably record them on a weekend and put it out early that week. Also, if you’re reading this, I’m sure you know by now, but the blog for the Aqua Road Radio is at http://aquaroadradio.blogspot.com. I’ve also talked quite a bit about e-mail.
