Tred Avon House – the modern architecture by the river

The Tred Avon House is built in Easton, a town in the state of Maryland (USA) with less than 20 000 inhabitants. This beautiful building ” is named after the river that runs nearby, and it is situated on a peninsula (Diamond Point), which gives a wonderful view from different angles. The structure is elevated one meter in order to protect the house against flooding.
Although it is a house with two floors, it is a building which is predominantly horizontal, organized into three pavilions and connected by glass galleries. The central volume is the one that marks the entrance. The living room, kitchen and storage space are located on the lower level while the upper floor houses two suites.

Impressive new subway station in Saudi Arabia

The capital of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) will have another subway station, designed by an international group of architects. This time the name of the genius is Architeckten Gerber, and the new station will add extra value to the piece, designed by Zaha Hadid. This building will be located at the intersection of Olaya Street, King Fahd, and King Abdullah Highway. This are has recently undergone many infrastructure changes, and it’s designated to become a focal point of the city.
The Metro station is a project of more than 68.000m2. It will house a parking area for 750 vehicles and four arcade levels in a ring, but it will be mostly distinguished by the gardens with swaying palm trees on their decks, forming a real urban oasis high. There also are water fountains, picnic areas, amphitheaters, and Wi-Fi throughout the area.
This station has a projected cost of 20 million USD.

Vola 060: a circular shower for your relaxing day

The brand VOLA has released a circular shower (model 060). The brand adheres to the style which it has been following for decades. The brand new product plays with existing lines to create a simple, but elegant design. Perhaps this is the reason why it has been nominated for the German Design Award 2014.
Instead of the perforated disc in its entire surface, model 060 has its holes arranged in a radial sequence. It is a shower that is supposed to also save the water consumption, because it has three different flows. Vola 060 is definitely eco-friendly.
Vola 060 is available in 16 colors, and the material can be brushed copper, or brushed stainless steel. It is designed to be mounted on the bathroom’s ceiling or wall.

Park House: a home in Tokyo

The Park House is located in a residential neighborhood of Tokyo. This is a home that responds to one of those home projects between borders of Japan. Those homes are not close to each other, and there is some space between neighboring constructions. The biggest architect’s challenge was to satisfy customer’s needs and create a new home on a plot of just 46m2.
Despite these limitations, the architecture studio has been able to develop a good plan for the housing, a multifunctional room (kitchen-dining-living room) and a small bedroom on the upper floor. The ground floor has a front space to park the vehicle, a full bathroom, and two storage rooms.
Especially interesting is the wooden staircase in the house. It has steel elements coated with some wood. This design allows the light from the front to flow everywhere in the house.
We particularly like the sliding doors which are used to access the bedroom and the storage room. The living space is illuminated by the large glass surface of the façade.

432 Park Avenue – a skyscraper designed by Rafael Vinoly

With about 425 meters height, the skyscraper 432 Park Avenue (New York) will be the highest residential building in the Western Hemisphere. Rafael Viñoly has designed a simple tower with a square base and, as hard as it seems, it completely breaks with the current structure of the skyscraper. This is a complicated skyscraper with its own personality. One need only take a look at the projects in Manhattan, or some of the future towers in Seoul in order to understand this phenomenon.
432 Park Avenue will feature 96 floors and a very homogeneous glass façade with large windows, offering spectacular views of the city. The homes will have a private elevator, kitchen, several suites, and a lot of luxury finishes. The building company has already signed contracts to receive more than a billion dollars in sales, mainly from international buyers who want to invest in these apartments, which prices range from 7 to 95 million dollars.

Wissioming Residence: a luxury home office

Wissioming Residence is located in Glen Echo (Maryland, USA) and it was built on the spot of an old building with the intention of altering the site as little as possible. This luxury also features a comfortable office space.
The internal organization responds to an orthogonal scheme with a great balance in the dimensions of the rooms. The master bedroom has a study room, a bathroom with a bathtub next to a large window, and a large closet. The ground floor is a great space that comprises of the kitchen, the dining and living room. The basement is a large game room.
The entire facade is glazed, overlooking the swimming pool and the terrace. It perfectly fits into the lush forest surrounding the house. With the choice of a glass facade, the privacy and light in the house are controlled by a interior roller blinds.
Wood coatings are combined with elements of stainless steel and black steel carpentry, offering a very elegant color palette throughout the house. Inside we can see the wooden and aluminum elements, used on the floors and on the cabinets.

Wye / Eike Becker Architekten – unusual shape to impress

Imagine a site plan that lacks what we generally call “historical context”. Sometimes we have a choice of authentic architecture which involves constructing a building that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This approach was designed for the administrative building built for Stadtwerke Neuss. The building is located in the commercial area, south of the center of Neuss. It has a northwest-southeast orientation among other buildings which tend to resemble shapeless boxes, as well as flat structures.
The unusual shape of the building makes it stand out among these other buildings. It depicts a large “Y”, it is not quite symmetrical and it is largely built of straight lines. All sides are coated with aluminum panels and the building with 4 floors is accessed by a large southeastern entrance area with an overhanging roof. A cafe and a restaurant are available behind the lobby. Most striking, however, are the two steps leading from the ground floor to the second floor and the second floor to the third.
What makes this so special is available under the large form of “V” and how they operate the formal contrasts between white and positive on one side and black, and negative on the other. While the architects have chosen to adhere to a simple design in which there is a sequence of lines in the offices, the administrative building is a sophisticated adaptation of the overall idea. The three-corridor system has the appearance of streets that are shaped from three different directions in the square. There are open kitchens and bar tables in the hallways.
Offices are single, double and triple, all based on a grid of 1.35 meters. The rooms have glass walls from floor to ceiling. One can feel the fresh air in the building which stands out from all other buildings owing to its unusual, impressive shape and idea.

Blockhouse: a modern house in the China International Architectural Expo

The Blockhouse is located in the forest of Laoshan, near the city of Nanjing (China). It is a part of the CIPEA (China International Architectural Expo), where a group of internationally renowned architects were invited to build four public buildings and 20 homes. This project is also known as the house number 4.
The building has a rather rotund volumes, because it is a prism of four floors with the presence of a giant white furniture within this impressive landscape. Actually, what we see from outside is a terrace on each floor, leaving a narrow horizontal strip to the next. This geometry works as a second skin that provides more protection for the house.
The house has an open space on the ground floor, which serves as living room, kitchen and dining room. Then we find the bathroom and the elevator on the other side of the house. On the upper floors there are two bedrooms. The roof features a swimming pool and jacuzzi, which make this home a truly relaxing place.

Elektra: contemporary kitchens by Ernestomeda

Elektra is a collection of integrated kitchens created by the designer Pietro Arosio who has made them for the Italian manufacturer, Ernestomeda, a manufacturer who has been offering kitchen furniture since 1996. Their Italian kitchens are distinguished by the elegance, quality, and their eco-friendly nature. The designs in this collection are distinguished by their simplicity, simple shapes, and five horizontal functional layers.
We selected pictures of the furniture which has combined the stainless steel with the material Corian. Yet, there are models that have opted for the marble and walnut as well. 29 different colors are available and one can choose between seven variants of the countertop.

Chic WBP offices in Bratislava

These photos and drawings present the Online WBP offices in Bratislava (Slovakia). This is an interesting interior design work which has met the requirements to blend the regulation of the natural light and the glass facade of the building.
Being largely a sunny space, this can cause overheating problems in summer, and this is definitely issue for people who are working in front of their PC. The solution was to develop a system of rotating panels of 60 and 80 cm wide.
Each side panel has a different color and finish, which further maximizes the control and the type of environment that everybody will always want. The motion of this modern system is operated remotely.
