This panel was inspired by Postopolis and the disenfranchisement of the Emerging Green Builder track at GB08 in chicago, where Cameron was the keynote speaker, but the sessions were all off site on the Navy Pier, not in McCormick Place.

Our panel is pioneering the use of webcams to bring together the panelists from 4 different locations: San Diego, Portland, New York, and Liverpool in an almost carbon neutral presentation. (Gotta figure the webservers and our computers have a small footprint).

A huge thanks to Joel McKeller for stepping up at the last minute to be our anchor and host in Phoenix.

association of architecture organizations aao

The Association of Architecture Organizations (AAO) is a member-based network that supports the many organizations around the world that are dedicated to interpreting architecture and the built environment to the general public. AAO nurtures innovation and best practices by facilitating knowledge sharing between members, partner organizations, and others. We organize conferences and workshops, provide professional development opportunities, support the creation of new architecture centers, and serve as a communication network for our members. Acting as the hub of this vast network of organizations, AAO strengthens and supports the unique role architecture organizations play in improving the quality of public engagement with the built environment. AAO members include architectural organizations, architecture and design schools, historical preservation trusts, urban planning organizations, and museums with architecture collections.

Finding a home for the South Pole Dome

A small group of polar veterans is trying to preserve the dome (which sheltered scientists and support workers at the South Pole for three decades) that is slated for demolition in the next few months. The group argues the dome is a signature feature of the United States Antarctic program. NYT
