Preparation:
It is expected that as a participant in this course, you have knowledge on Basic Photography (parts of the camera, how your camera works, basic composition and elements of exposure – aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, metering, etc) as indicated in the course invitation.

In preparation for the workshop, make sure you are familiar with basic photography terminologies and their respective functions, specifically aperture, shutter speed, ISO, metering. We strongly recommend you review these elements as it is essential that you clearly understand how they function and work together in bringing out correct exposure, in order for the workshop to be effective.

I feel that I will be doing more of this kind of post processing every now and then, I really like the feel and the mood it gives to the image.

Our model was Ona whom we met during the day of the shoot and who welcomed us to her home. Ona is an artist and an animal lover (she has 5 cats), with paintings, tattoos and piercings being forms of self-expression. Hmm… quite the opposite of the concept prepared by stylist Valerie which was preppy, girly and sexy. And she knew it. But she still pulled it off beautifully.

Here’s the first set “Preppy”, with her cat Tommy. Bart was supposedly the one to join the shoot but he decided to join the third set instead. Used two lights, both on 28″ Westcott Apollo soft box camera left for key and rim.

“Goddess” is the second set, taken at the hallway. One light on a 28″ Apollo softbox.

“Naughty and Nice.” The third set was taken in their living room.  Two lights both on a 28″ Apollo soft box camera right front of subject for the key and another one camera left for rim.

The fourth and last set, “Caramel”.  Just one light on a 28″ Apollo soft box.

Thanks to Ona and her Mom for welcoming us in their home.

South African born Faheema K. has a Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion design. She has done wardrobe design and styling for South African television and dressed local celebrities. She has taken part in the bridal Africa showcasing her debut range of bridal wear. Faheema designs for the modern person male or female, anyone in need of styling and design assistance. Designs are for the daring and expressive. Playing with textures and silhouettes is her passion and also loves to showcase Avant-garde outfits.

Past few years she has been a fashion buyer for a large retail group in Saudi Arabia and been designing part time but wants to return to fashion design full time and hopes to launch her label internationally at the Dubai fashion week 2011. - www.lamodadubai.com
