I think, instead of bookmark import feature on Sharein.Com, if this product is going agile

My random Brain interrupted and forced me to say a.k.a thanks for these reasons

(1) I saw its progress that run pretty quickly,

(2) Clear concept although I physically can only guess from outside Malaysia, These brain pool paragraphs must be from non-techie guys (business people) as well betcha and

(3) So worth it to an active continuous learner like me,

I’d rather have a wishlist for ability to synchronize Sharein.Com with Delicious.Com. Not automatically as of course that would be an expensive resource. Just give a user a trigger to synchronize it, this idea came from Firefox Delicious.Com Addons usability, for the first time, it would synchronize local Firefox browser bookmarks to my online Delicious.Com bookmarks.

Why would I dream of this wish is because :

(1) I got my link trimmed in Sharein.Com automatically, AND

(2) I can Tweet it directly to my Twitter, AND

(3) I got a precious dashboard with important graphics. Although the dashboard still needs improvement, but I like it since the first time I saw it!

These reasons could switch me back to Delicious.Com if it kills these two Sharein.Com’s features or vice versa, I might kill Delicious.Com and use Sharein.Com for good, besides, it’s made by Ruby fellows in Malaysia!

OK, anyways, regarding dashboard, from user’s prespective like me, I think it’s necessary to have filtered by date range, like only show today, last bi weekly, I won’t need to see current most viewed by *all* records over and over, that feature is for Sharein statictics research guy I guess. Oh well, special about this data analysis, I think this topic can grow unlimited ;-) and it’s also good for business, so I guess I’ll shut my mouth here.

Alright, I guess that’s it for today, I might want to add other wishlists for other ruby products all around the world, especially that came from my ruby fellows around the globe.

(1) I’m wondering what Magnolia people are doing there, I hope it would result in best product.

(2) Meh I wish Sharein could give WordPress bloggers special widgets because javascript is not allowed on my right sidebar so that I can show Sharein Widget there

(3) I wish Sharein fellows would implement alert, I would be more than happy to welcome this feature if it’s implemented! As a side effect, It will not only be Delicious killer, but also Google Alert Killer!

Have you ever wondered if you can search a piece of ruby codes inside all your gigantic macbook pro storage?

For example, you might want to search one of your codes that contains this code module AdpointDir

How would you do that? From a command line? Yes, that’s one option. Another option is: Ruby Importer

What I do to search that code on my 13″ Macbook Pro is just press Apple Command + Space to invoke Spotlight on the top right of my Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard Desktop. Then just type there module AdpointDir.

That’s one way to reach the file. Another way is using mdfind “module AdpointDir”.

This spotlight is really a must for a Serious Rubyist on Leopard! As we know since Leopard, we really rely on Spotlight, I even don’t need to have “QuickSilver” anymore to call my apps quickly because it’s been already indexed well on spotlight, anyway.

What I did to have this was after downloading the plugin from here I placed RubyImporter.mdimporter file to my ~/Library/Spotlight, there wasn’t Spotlight directory over there, I just created it by myself.

Then I opened my Terminal, go to that directory ~/Library/Sportlight/ and typed mdimport -L | grep Ruby and I saw RubyImporter on the list!

So what I did after that was tell my mac to re-index all Ruby files with this command:

mdimport -r ~/Library/Spotlight/RubyImporter.mdimporter

Then, welcome to the heaven! So whenever I need to search my ruby codes, Apple Command + Space + “class Twitter” for example, et voila! ;-)

Notes: I wrote this blog post intentionally because I wasn’t clear enough of README from RubyImporter. I hope this write-up makes me (and my ruby fellows around me) more clear. When I need to search my piece of codes in a smaller, more reasonable environments, for example inside one of Rails or Ruby projects, {1} I can just enter ViM, then type :vimgrep /regexp/ . to get what I want. Or, {2} do Apple Command + Shift + F to search my piece of code in my whole ruby projects that I opened using my Textmate.
