Ian Provo, in collaboration with this brother Neil, is embarking on a mission to AK this spring in search of some of the best skiing and fishing in the world. Here’s what Ian had to say about the project:

Just over a decade ago, my brother Neil and I began a new life in Utah and started down a path that we knew would someday lead us to places like British Columbia and Alaska. This spring we have a plan to travel further north on the path than we’ve ever been before, to experience the greatest big mountain riding and steelhead fishing the world has to offer, in one journey.

Sometime in March we will begin our long drive to the mountainous spine riding capitol of the world, Haines, AK. Our goal here is to make our first turns down an Alaskan mountain, while participating in an expedition with six others who are also on the same path (more on this expedition later…)

After what is hopefully a successful ski trip, we’ll begin part two of the quest and hopefully bring another lifelong dream to reality. This part involves taking a ferry from Haines down through the North Coast of B.C, eventually arriving in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. It is here where we enter the most fabled steelheading waters on the planet. We will explore the Skeena and its tributaries, and our timing should be perfect for the spring return of the wild steelhead.

I’m really hopeful that this will evolve into our greatest film project yet, but with any self supported project there will certainly be obstacles along the way. We’re going to need all the help we can get! feel free to contact me (ijprovo at hotmail.com) for more information…

After bailing on her first two runs, Devin was in dead last in the women’s slope style finals in Aspen, CO. In run 3, she dropped in, tried her run for the third time, stomped every trick, and found herself with the silver medal at the end of the day. Judging from this photo, she was pretty stoked with the outcome and couldn’t be happier with her first medal in Winter X Slope!

Trick: Dub flat 9 mute

While other athletes take mellow warm up laps, Torin drops in and boosts consistent 10 – 20ft airs on his first practice lap. Maybe it’s the home court advantage, or the fact that he has been riding this particular pipe since age 8, but whatever it is, there’s no denying Torin’s unparalleled comfort in practice and competition. On Saturday, Torin put down an incredible run and won the bronze medal in skiing superpipe, locking down his third X-Games medal and continuing his domination as the youngest competitor in Winter X history.

This week marks our annual pilgrimage to Retallack Lodge, BC to shoot imagery for SIA, test new products, and collaborate with a few athletes on new product ideas. More so than other cat skiing operations, Retallack generates season after season of quality snow, astounding images, and an incredible platform to get lost in the BC wilderness, unplug, and enjoy the mountains. Despite being a relatively mild season, Retallack and other parts of BC have great snow in the high country and we cannot wait to see what this year has to offer.

Above, Tanner enjoys a classic hit over a stump from winter 08.
