What example of 'The Chicago Way' are we on now? Since the emergence of Barack Obama on the national political scene, there have been countless instances.

Here is just the latest installment. Chicago's "Mayor for Life", Richard Daley, has announced that he will not seek re-election for a seventh term.

No sooner did this story break that the news that the frontrunner to succeed Daley is Obama's chief-of-staff, Rahm Emanuel. Given the sorry state that Chicago is in these days, wouldn't voters concede that 'The Chicago Way' is in need of a makeover?

Speaking of makeovers, I'm sure that Emanuel see this as his lifeboat off the foundering S.S. Obama; not a bad exit strategy.

Even if Rahmbo lost in a mayoral bid, he would be far from the vortex created by an Obama loss in 2012.</itunes:summary>

Who is the dog in this picture? Bo or 'O'?

I would say the Portuguese Water Dog but the President thinks it's him.

At yesterday's Laborfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Barack Obama said that his critics 'talk about me like a dog.' I say that is insulting to dogs.

I never said the President was a dog, of any species - I just think he's incompetent. My liberal friends think he's the brightest president to ever hold the office. I would have to question that logic considering on the weekend the Administration announced this year's deficit would be $50 billion higher than last year's budget-buster.

Speaking of $50 billion, that ironically is the same amount of the President's business stimulus plan that's disguised as a union payback for rebuilding infrastructure.

If that sounds familiar, you'd be right. Obama sold the $862 billion porkulus a year and a half ago for the SAME thing - "shovel ready" infrastructure jobs. Yep, the same, tired, failed policies.

Mr. Obama may compare himself to a dog, but I feel there is no comparison. Unlike the President, Bo CAN be taught new tricks.</itunes:summary>

I'm really surprised that the Politico is taking a page from the shopworn MSM playbook: report the condition of the GOP exactly opposite of the facts.

In this case, it was today's report of the GOP gender gap. Politico laments the loss of Lisa Murkowski in the Senate, leaving only Kay Bailey Huchinson, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.

First, they had to presume that Murkowski would win re-election. Secondly, they completely gloss over the emerging GOP hopefuls in all different races around the country, most notably, Nikki Haley in South Carolina and Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina in California. No small potatoes.

Just as the Endangered Media is doing its best to smear Sarah Palin, the women of the GOP are certainly on the rise and will carry us for the next two months.</itunes:summary>

Why is 'Sheriff' Joe Smiling?

Is it because the economic Recovery Summer is showing an actual recovery?

...or, because he's not President?

...or, because his popularity is higher since Election Eay 2008?

Witty, but no.

Joe may have found out that the makers of Botox will be fined $600 million for alleging that their product can be used as cure for headaches, among other ailments.

Biden may have shown early concerns, but they were quickly allayed once he was assured that Botox could still be used for cosmetic treatments - something he vehemently denies.

I'm sure that many in Hollywood can also breath a sigh of relief too.</itunes:summary>

Who knew when you toasted 'to your health' how correct you'd be.

It seems that the more we know about drinking alcoholic beverages - in moderation - the more good they are for us.

In a recent Time article, NOT drinking may prove worse. Those who abstained from alcohol tend to die earlier than their counterparts.
"Moderate drinking, which is defined as one to three drinks per day, is associated with the lowest mortality rates in alcohol studies. Moderate alcohol use (especially when the beverage of choice is red wine) is thought to improve heart health, circulation and sociability, which can be important because people who are isolated don't have as many family members and friends who can notice and help treat health problems."
As a person of Italian heritage, I can attest first-hand that red wine is the cure of all ills.

Personally, I am also hoping that beer is proven to be the next Fountain of Youth!</itunes:summary>

While huddled around the TV last night during 'My Summer of (TV) Discontent', my youngest made a comment on Christina Hendricks' - um - figure. If you are a fan of Mad Men, the Emmy grabbing series, you know the hourglass body of her Joan Holloway character.

The discussion turned to Christina's frame and if she was suitable for TV.

My question is: why not?

After years of bombarding us with waifs and passing them off as 'regular women', the real regular woman has emerged. And for those who didn't get the memo, they are 3-dimensional and do have curves. The editors of Esquire recently named her 'Sexiest Woman Alive'. Good choice.

By accepting women of all sizes and statures, one can only guess how many millions of hours and billions of dollars have been saved on future therapy.

While some in the lamestream media would rather bash Glenn Beck or under-report the size of the 'Restoring Honor' rally he hosted this past weekend, there is no doubt that this guy is on fire!

Without droning on, Beck's rally was a tad droll for my taste but there were neither racial nor offensive. Even Mediaite's Glynnis MacNichol's take on the event was surprisingly fair.

It's amazing what you can learn when you tone down the rhetoric for a minute.

Beck, for all his faults and foibles, is just a guy who expects our representatives in government to be above reproach. He didn't "steal" Martin Luther King's dream - he was looking to advance it. If this were academia, it's comparable with a student repeating the words of the professor.

So, in the whole scheme of things, whether the crowd was 87,000 or 870,000, the message was abundantly clear: Beck's mojo can more than fill a room.

As it turns out, she never smoked the stuff. Ms. Parker reveals in Vanity Fair that she never lit up and the rest of the interview was 'Like, dude, you're harshing my mellow'.

Seeing that premium channels like Showtime and HBO are more about their home-grown series content, it's harder to find a decent movie younger than 5 years.

In fact, now that the economy is in the tank, more people are turning to cable and FiOS to get their entertainment and information than ever before. Stinks for cinemas, print media and libraries.

Speaking of media, here is today's podcast. At the end, I have a special announcement about The Armchair Energist Show - so please listen.

Or watch the Livestream replay.

Or wait for my next post.

Have a great weekend!

Are you a fan of the President but want your own 'Obama stimulus package'?

**WARNING - clicking on external links may produce images not suitable for all viewers

Just head to the Asia Adult Expo being held in China and you can have your own Obama sex doll as reported by The Huffington Post. If you screwed people over using the Obama condom, or conversely, just felt screwed over by the Obama sex toy, this is just the kind of item that you can get your arms around.

Personally, this is a companion that I can do without - I feel that the government has invaded too much of my personal space for comfort.

Now, the show must go on...

I hope Real Housewife of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice, didn't see today's news. Sales of existing homes fell sharply by 27% in July to their lowest level in four decades, according to the National Association of Realtors.

Add another couple of nails to the coffin like June's numbers were adjusted downward by 5% and the sales of new homes dropped over 12% have sellers quaking in their boots.

The bankrupt reality star and her "juicy" husband Joe are fighting to keep their $1.7 $5 million dollar mansion while facing $11 million in debts. I'm sure her creditors are stewing as the price they can get for the Giudice's hillbilly mansion falls into the toilet.

But I suppose Tre won't put the blame on neither the Obama Administration or her shopping addiction - not while she has Bravo to blame.

Anytime I want to take a break from reality shows, like RHONJ, I just tune into DC politics for a while.

As for the Recovery Bummer, news like this is not welcome; it only makes Sheriff Joe's b.s. harder to swallow.
