Its COBC-LSD part 3!! Yes we hear ya.. To make this year better than last and to achieve this year's New Year resolution that we fix for our recruits (at here) with at least 10 races for season COBC runners and 6 races for COBC virgin runners, we began every Sunday with a Long Slow Distance running training. To make it more exciting and hip, we invited celebrity runner Ilyanna Aylin Ayob to plan the running route with our COBC Admin Rose Emini Pahamin. For those that do not know Ilyanna Aylin, do read about her at here.

Now we are into our 3rd LSD.. and since I was in Penang officiating the Convent Green Lane School Re-union and alumni, I can only envy those runners from far while reading about it on Facebook. There were more than 3 dozens recruits that ran the running training. Click on pictures to enlarge.

and while I was in Penang and three dozens of us were running, Affiq Zakie and Shazni Az went and conquered 3 mountains namely Gunung Datuk, Gunung Rembau and Gunung Gagak in a Climbathon challenge.

and it was only recently that Maslina Ahmad Ismail, Shazni Az, Affiq Zakie conquered Mount Kinabalu!!

I am both overwhelmed and proud to see them all in COBC GREY TSHIRT on the highest peak in South East Asia!!

Whether it is a mountain or a tough running-route or running-distance that we conquered on every weekend, we do it together!! That's what the CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP is all about.. a community!! Its all about you!! Let us be a champion and achieve something every week!

PENANG 3rd GRADUATION PARTY

If there was a most supportive platoon award.. then Penang platoon would proudly won. When the CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP (COBC) held a roadshow at the Hard Rock Hotel in conjunction with the Convent Green Lane School re-union and alumni at HERE, many of them came to support in Grey COBC Tee. Naturally, we invite them for a buffet lunch worth RM85 ++ per head at Hard Rock Hotel.

The former Asia best Karate Champion, Sarge (COBC) Boon arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel as early as 9am to set-up the display booth at the Hall of Fame. He was assisted by his lovely assistant Christina. They displayed some equipments that are frequently used to ~~whip and whack~~ get the best results out of any recruits. They even had the Hollywood's voted most preferred shoe in 2011, the Vibram Five Fingered on display. Have it the Sarge's way, he wants to five fingered everyone in the Hall.

After the display booth, COBC Penang celebrated its Third Graduation party at JT Western Restaurant opposite Copthorne Orchid Hotel and beside a kopitiam. Click on Pictures to enlarge. Of course after the certificate presentation, we celebrated the Birthday babies.. The cake was specially made by recruit Siti Hajar!! It taste as good as it look!!! Super yummilicious!!!

But then.. there was no birthday to celebrate and as such.. Sarge (COBC) Boon, Corporal (COBC) Kenny and me was asked to hold the cake on squat hold!!!! as we... as sporty as always.. NO PROBLEM!!!

Sarge (COBC) Boon, Corp (COBC) Kenny and me went on squat hold but the SOBs cut the cake.. how fair... Should have had the SOB on squat hold :-D

Shortly later.. Staff Sarge (COBC) Dann arrived with Ody Nurfuadi and it was Ody's birthday!!! Ody's Birthday!! But the cake was all eaten except for 2 slices?!!! But enough to get Ody on squat hold while the recruits sang for Ody very very slowly ........

CONVENT GREEN LANE ALUMNI AND RE-UNION 2012

I was invited by the Organising Committee Chairman Dr Azlina Ahmad to grace and officiate SMK Convent Green Lane re-union and alumni that was held on 11 February 2012 at the Hard Rock Hotel, Penang. I first befriended Dr Azlina Ahmad when she invited me to eat Daging Kuda (Horse Meat) many years ago!! The attempt was almost successful until I discovered that she wanted to feed me with daging KUDA PENCEN??!! too much information... Needless to say, it did not work out.

To make sure that this re-union function did not suffer the same fate without me, Dr Azlina Ahmad (BBA., MBA, PhD. International Marketing) whom is also a lecturer at the University Science Malaysia consistently reminded me of the event since November last year until my arrival at the Hotel this morning at 9:00am. I hereby award her to be the most persistent and consistent friend in circle.

The gorgeous invitation card were sent out to all CGL school leavers. Convent Green Lane School was established 51 years ago in 1961. SMK CGL celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2001 and in the same year, Pn Balkish Mohd Isa, the former headmistress bid the school farewell. Between the year 2002 to 2005, Pn Sharifah Hamidah bt Syed Mohd Al- Habshi was the school headmistress and Pn Patimah bt Othman in 2005 and retired shortly later 2006. Since then, Puan Lim Yen Lee, the then Penolong Kanan Ko-Kurikulum was promoted as the new principle of SMK CGL.

The theme for the re-union and alumni was Rock & Roll and because of the theme, Hard Rock Hotel was chosen. Especially for the night, I dug into my oldest wardrobe and chose my most Rock'est t'shirt and Jeans.

Before the event started, my team from the CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP had open a booth in the Hall to promote a healthy living to the members, guests and sponsors of the re-union.

I was escorted into the Hall of Fame by Dr Azlina Ahmad and Former Head Mistress Puan Balkish Mohd Isa. Every personnel-on-duty were all former students of SMK CGL... the Emcee was Sunita from Class 1995. After a short introduction by Sunita and a speech by the Organising Committee Chairman Dr Azlina Ahmad (Class 1997), I spoke for 15 minutes without a written text. My nicely prepared speech disappeared when the document crashed shortly before I could print it. So here I am, recalling what I spoke to record it on blog... (This is why I do not like to speak without text haiiih.. its double work in the end). The summary was as follows:

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah hiwabarakatuh, Salam Sejahtera and good afternoon.

When I first heard that Former Head Mistress Puan Balkish will attend the re-union.. I was abit excited to see a former head Mistress in tight torn jeans... because during school days.. I was always picked by the teachers and head master for wearing the green school pants abit too tight. Cikgu.. it was really tight.. and it took us almost 10 minutes just to wear the pants... seluaq tu sangkut kat kaki, payah nak celuih... Rock punya pasal. Unfortunately, Cikgu tak pakai dressing rock... tapi tak pa. Cikgu mai pun kami semua dah rasa cukup sempurna. I am pleased to see former students, especially Dr Azlina and the organising committee still have not forgotten the teachers. My mother too was a teacher and I am proud of it. We should never forget jasa seorang Cikgu, they have done wonders to educate us into what we are today.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am both very proud and honored to be here with you, to grace and officiate this special occasion.. The re-union of students from Class 1993 to Class 2004 in one gathering is a history in itself. It is important that classmates and schoolmates do not lose contact but the agony of gathering everyone together is really a nobble but a very difficult task. 10 years of students... celuih masuk hall ni na? Sepatutnya kena ada stadium kot noh. But this is Penang state dilemma. When I met with Dato' Boonler from the Penang Skill and Develeopment Centre (PSDC) recently, Dato Boonler too communicated the same. Infact, according to Dato' Boonler, Penang State had formed a task-force to study on how to get current Youth to stay in Penang rather than migrating out of Penang but this is the state government's issue... Our issue is .. this re-union.

I am pleased to learn that today, SMK CGL made school-history to gather former students from Class 1993 to Class 2004.. Today, I also charted my history. I had officiate various functions from Annual General Meetings, Annual Dinner, opening of shops and other re-unions, but this is the first time that I graced and officiated an all Girl School Alumni gathering..... All Girl School!! Of course, I did not mind.

Usually, a re-union and alumni gatherings are all about 'Walking Down Memory Lane".... That includes... sharing old stories of crushes... infatuation..... love....... hatred........ sometimes mengumpat about teachers pun ada... (maaf ya Puan Balkish.. gurau je). I mean this would be what the boys would speak at re-unions... beside some self-bragging about some fights etc. I wonder what does girls topic of conversation would be...

Most of us went through various life cycle at school and post-high school.. teenage kan! Cycles..in personal life, financial, health, love life and also in career. Personally, I also went through various cycles... almost a roller coaster ride.. up and down the corridors of life. I even went through various emotional cycles in sickness and health being diagnosed with a terminal cancer Leukemia. Having battled through leukemia at school, I went and pursued further my studies and only to be diagnosed again with a relapse. After two painful battles, I began my working career and went through two economic recessions that had affected my business. I drove through various relationships and passed through various phases of friendship with different batches of people but what it all taught me, was the true meaning of friendship, associates, business partners, family values and the importance of health and love.

I was privilege to speak to a few people in this room before the function began and am happy and proud to see everyone is successful in their own right. I see many of you being successful in your career and are now enjoying the fruits of your hard work. I see most if not all of you, are very successful in marriage and was blessed with beautiful children. I see everyone here so cheerful and happy. In life, there is nothing more important than to be happy and to be successful in relationship and family. Family values stand beyond and above any other material and monetary.

I hope the Chairman Dr Azlina would call upon some former students to come forward and share their past experiences at school and also some updates of their life post-CGL. This sharing of true experiences can be an aspiration to others.

I look forward to listen to your stories!!

I was surprise to meet my high-school buddy (or more like partners-in-crime) Zarir Salleh's wife She Musa. She Musa was former student at SMK CGL.

While they cat-walk modelling their atttire.. or maybe themselves, we... dug into the food has been smiling for us since we stepped into the Hall.

My friends from the Chief's Original Bootcamp were very hungry.. they all came to support our booth that was displayed at the re-union gathering.

There were a few former students that came forward to share their experiences. Among them were Past CGL Alumni President Stella (no pictures.. Aiseyman) and the current President below (cant remember the name)... She was from class 1976!! Class 1976!!!! 1976!!!!

We were also entertained by the Rock band Dead Mushroom (I think?)..

While everyone was busy being entertained by the bands and models, I went to the COBC booth and err.. camwhore with our loyal and supportive recruits.. whom were there for nothing else but to support us.

SHELL MALAYSIA ADOPTED HEALTH AS A RESOLUTION!!

Where can you find a Chairman of a big conglomerate that is so concern over its employee's weight and health that it engaged CHIEF's Original Bootcamp (COBC) to make sure their employee does not take any medical leaves and maintain their health fitness and err sexy-ness..? Yes.. none other than SHELL Malaysia Berhad. Shell Chairman Mohd Anuar Taib was very concern of SHELL employees fitness that is apparently above national benchmark for obesity. For a start, through our strong recruit Nor Sabrina Mohd Nor, we began our session on Friday, 10 February 2012.

If SHELL HELIX is the viagra for cars, then COBC is the Viagra for fitness and health!! SHELL is the best and engaged only the best!

The session was held 'indoor' (INDOOR!!) and our former national Taekwondo gold medalist and COBC lead instructor Staff-Sarge (COBC) Dann was the platoon commander assisted by Sarge Tom, Corporal (COBC) Resh, Corporal (COBC) Ridz) and coordinated by Admin Farhanah Bamadhaj. COBC JANUARY 2012 ACERS!!

ACE or 100% Attendance, Commitment and Effort certificate was created to recognize those recruits with discipline to complete the full 12 sessions of training.... without giving up! Although the one hour per session is on alternate days, but we know and understand for whatever reason, it is not easy to consistently attend all the 12 session in a month. For that, we award those with the discipline and imprint their name into the COBC Book of Achievers. Trust me, this sort of discipline and commitment can bring you very far in life. So you should be proud... We are very proud of you.

Its our party again!! Yes, if there is one date that we should always diarise every month, then it is the CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP (COBC) monthly party!!! and no it is not restricted to only COBC recruits but it is open to every friends, bruder & sista of the recruits.. Heck.. it is open to everyone whom wants to be part of the most passionate circle of people in health and fitness. Every month, there will be a theme chosen for the day. The theme for January 2012 party was ... err.. Italian!!!! It was abit tough to dress at first.. but with a little bit of Google'ing I came out with er... Antonio Banderas??!! but then.. he was not handsome enough and had to google for more optiond.. The next name that came out was err.... Luciano Pavarotti? but then.. I am too lean to be Pavarotti.. so... google some more.. google and google.. finally, I decided to be ArminO BaniazO!!!

We held our party at the Italiannies at the Empire, Subang Jaya to commemorate the Italian theme at our much awaited monthly party. The Italiannies was located at HERE and for the first time, the party was held in Subang Jaya. We had a decent 100 ++ recruits from almost every COBC locations. Even from Penang. Sarge (COBC) Boon @ Cheah Boon Chong led the batallion from Penang. There were Ong Kai Li, Heng Lee Lee, Christina Cheah, Kevin Chew, Lau Phaik San and Micheal Ong. It was also the first time that we had the function at noon!! Usually, it was always in the evening.

COBC: HARTAMAS LSD 2

Yes we hear ya!!! You want a running-orgy.. we give you COBC-Weekend Running Long Slow Distance (LSD)!! This is the second weekend that we ran with celebrity runner cum COBC team-mate Ilyanna Aylin Ayob.. for those that still dont know her, click and read HERE. The first LSD was held last week at Bukit Aman (click HERE to read) and this week, was at Sri Hartamas with a slight increase in level of running difficulty via a hilly route. Gathering time was at 6:15am and we started running at 6:30am... err after a group camwhore!!

Rienna Choo, Amy Ho and Freda started earlier and missed the group photo. Running this morning were Advance Tan, Ali Rahimi Ferdosinezhad, Tan Wee Liam, Kym Wishnowski, Helmi Ruzaimi, Mohamad Fazli, Syamala Pillay, Jadite Liew, May Lyn Wong, Fairuz, Rose Emini Pahamin, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Armin Baniaz Pahamin, Rizal, Azim and a few others (err knocking my head on the wall-cannot remember).

We began our run at 6:31am with a slow jog as warming up. We were split into three groups.. the fastest were pacing with Abduladzim Zaharudin, Ilyanna Aylin Ayob slowly paced with the intermediate and Rose Emini Pahamin stayed back with the beginners. You do not have to worry about not being fit enough to join our group because there will always be someone waiting for you. The mid-point was at a Nasi Kandaq restaurant!!! Oh my god.. I can only imagine Tan Wee Liam's face when he saw the Nasi Kandaq.. We had to hold Ali Rahimi Ferdosinezhad from re-routing to the restaurant!

After the mid-point, we continued our run and completed it in approximately 1minutes 10 seconds.

GONG XI FA CHAI WITH YUEN AND LC TAN

There is no other Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration that serves Japanese food but at the Yuen Choong Lai and LC Tan's Gong Xi Fa Chai open house. Last year it was at the Kin Shui Teh, Tropicana Golf and Country Club and this year the venue was changed to Nagomi at the Jaya 33. We befriended both Yuen and LC a few year s back when our sons are best friend since year 1 at the Garden International School GIS). Both Yuen and LC were recruits at the Chief's original Bootcamp but they retired when their fitness was at its prime....It was our first visit to the Nagomi. It was a different concept to the Kin Shui Teh and is a more weight-watcher diet friendly. Its shabu shabu base (aka steamboat base). Every year, Yuen and LC never fail to invite the parents of GIS for their CNY open house and every year, we never fail to err... over-eat our invitation.

How can we possibly behave when there were generous amount of food being served. Yuen, being the President for Hadrons Capital, a venture capitalist co-owned a fleet of fine-dining restaurants and we from the eating department performed our tasks beyond our KPI (Key Performance Index).. we simply bedal licin! But its okay to over-eat because most in the menu were vegetable in nature with a generous portion of lean beef.

Last year, I over-dressed by being more Chinese than Yuen in my shocking red colour shirt (which I thought the Chinese symbolizes as prosperity) ( See: HERE) but they.. especially Yuen were not. This year, I came in traditional modern java batik and Yuen.. thinking I would be in red, wore his red Chinese shirt..

COBC- BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT

Benchmark assessment!!! Yes.. The first and the 13th session of every month will always be the COBC Benchmark assessment. Whether you are in Malaysia or Australia or any other part of the world, you will be doing the same benchmark assessment!! The same form, the same circuit and the same distance. Why? because of various reason but primarily because wherever you are, when you have reach a certain fitness level, you would want to pace yourself against other better recruits within the COBC network worldwide. That is one of the primary characteristics of a Delta. Twice a year, this elite Delta will be given a special invitation to participate in the network's toughest challenge codename: Hell Week!! Some Deltas were even invited to try out for the Red Tee... Yes, we encourage and recommend potential Deltas to be in red tee for one main reason.. Instructors that was born from a recruit knew best the needs and wants of a recruit and is able to fulfill that better than someone from outside whom would have to first understand COBC military-inspired's firm, assertive and yet friendly nature as well as COBC recruit's culture and camaraderie.

The best Benchmark Assessment record in Malaysia was held for more than a year by James Fong whom recorded both Circuit-1 and 1-mile run below 8 minutes. Since then, there were many recruits whom did chart a better time but it was for either the Circuit-1 or the 1-Mile run but never for both until 13 months later (after James Fong's) in July 2011, Jin Chong Hee became the second recruit that recorded both Circuit-1 and 1-Mile run below 8 minutes with a timing of 7:36 and 7:53 accordingly and held the best record since then. In October 2011, that record was broken by Tan Wee Liam with a Circuit-1 and 1-Mile run timing of 7:16 and 7:23. That timing became the best held record until Tuesday 31 January 2012, when Tan Wee Liam again broke his own record with both timing below 7 minutes at 6:53 and 6:47 in Subang Jaya USJ1. This became a new COBC Best Benchmark Assessment record.

The recent benchmark Assessment saw many strong and improved recruits in the COBC network. So far there are only 5 recruits that had recorded the timing for both Circuit-1 and 1-Mile run assessments below eight minutes. There were James Fong in December 2010 and January 2011, Tan Wee Liam in October 2011, November 2011, January 2012 and February 2012; Ellya Masriq Ahmad Sani in December 2011 and January 2012; Jin Chong Hee in August 2011, November 2011, and January 2012 and David Wishnowski in September 2011 and November 2011.

Among other good timing recorded as well as best improved were Affiq Zakie with a time of 8:05 and 7:59, Firdaus Ruslan 7:50/9:31, Ryan Wong 7:27/8:30, Helmi Ruzaimi Haron 7:57/9:37, Umesh Narasimhaiah 7:37/8:13, Abdul Fattah Mohd Mokhtar 7:50/8:37 and Evan Cheah 8:33/7:56. I might have missed a few more names but in a nutshell, these are the timing that we should target to achieve.... one day.

Timing is important for those in Deltas to remain in Delta as they should always improve themselves to be the best and it is equally important for those in Seal to pace themselves well and target to be in the elite group Delta. Only those that wants to be in Delta, would give their best during assessment to be in Delta! Those in Rangers, please remember there were a few of these Delta that started as a ranger themselves but their stamina had improved multifold when they never give up and gave their best effort in every session.

When Jin Chong Hee first did his Benchmark Assessment, his timing was an average 10:06 and 8:34. Seven assessments later, he obtained his Personal Best (PB) with 7:21 and 7:41. Similarly, when COBC most-voted-SOB record-holder Joe Liew first did the Benchmark Assessment, his time was 11:35 and 10:10. Joe Liew's latest timing was 7:55 and 8:01. Remember this year Group's resolution at HERE ?

1 month down, 11 more months to go!! Lets make this year, the most productive year!!

COBC: A FUNTABULOUS COMMUNITY

What makes the Chief's Original Bootcamp (COBC) so different? Yes.. the people.. its community!! Since establishment 18 months ago, there are now more than 3,000 registered members. While there are a whole bunch of recruits that have never run and became an avid runners after working out at the COBC, there are also recruits that was a couch potato but became a serious mountain climbers and hikers. This outdoor activities are fast becoming a trend. Another bunch are going to Diving at Mabul, Kapala and Sipadan which are world top 10 best dive spots. Yesterday, a bunch of these recruit attack the Camp 5 Wall Climbing and had the best moment! When you are healthy and fit, you can do anything you want.

I blog this because I fell in love with the pictures above (which reads COBC) that was made from COBC hardcore Sheikh Hisham, Micaela Soyza, Heather Goh, Angela Loo, Avril Chan and Shazni Az.

PROTON EDAR Dealers Association Malaysia (PEDA) made its first trip to Southern region for a healthy meeting and discussion. PEDA Committee was represented by the President Armin Baniaz Pahamin, Deputy President Dato Nik Izani, Vice President SB Siaw, Hon Treasurer Dato Yahya Jaafar, Secretary-General Malkeet Singh, Assistant Secretary-General Mohd Nor Azan, Committee member Dato Isa Indot. The meeting was help at New York Hotel, Johor Bharu.

Except for 2 dealers, the gathering was attended by all of Southern Region 1 PROTON dealers' directors and managers. GIS PINK DAY!!

31 January 2012 was Pink Day at the Garden International School (GIS) in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and everyone at GIS men, women and students were all in PINK!!! and so was I. The Pink T' shirt is on sale around school on 30th and 31st January 2012. The Pink Day was organised in conjunction with World Cancer Day on 4th February.

In support to the GIS Pink Day, Aaraf Armin, Nawal Aini and me was in the PINK Tee bearing the pink-day logo that was designed by GIS talented students for two consecutive days.

We will also wear the Pink Tee on 12th February 2012 at TTDI for the Pink Walk ‘Arielle’s Walk’. This walk is in memory of a member of the GIS community who sadly lost her fight with Breast Cancer last year. The walk will begin at 8:30am and everybody are invited to participate, be healthy and show your support at this family event (Stay Tuned for more details).

MAKAN SUTRA @ SUNGAI PENCHALA: EWA FOOD CHINESE CUISINE!!

MAKANSUTRA at Sungai Penchala!!! Believe it or not.... Sungai Penchala is the in-thing now!!... err for makan!! used to be famous for religious gathering Al Arqam as a Malay kampung but now it has evolved as a upper class residents and more importantly a centre for Makan!!!

The latest makan-pot at Sungai Penchala is a popular Chinese Cuisine called EWA Food!! Ewa food was only recently open and its specialty is in Steam Fish, Asam Pedas, Curry Fish Head and Sweet sour (Tilapia). The Tilapia are alive and fresh procured fresh from Temenggor, Kelantan where a Norwegian Company breeds on large scale of Black Tilapia (Genoma) farm. The restaurant is open daily except on Monday from 12:00pm to 3:00pmn and 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

Although that is not their specialty but we ordered ala carte the Cantonese Bihun and true enough we were not dissappointed!!! It was so good and so yummilicious!! Coincidentally, my friend and neighbour Haji Aref Puteh and his wife Hajjah Maznah was at the next table bedalling (eating without fear) Curry Fish Head and they both gave a two thumbs up for the food there too!! Nawal Aini Zulkifli said..... err.. this shall be our new luncheon place!! and I totally agree!

COBC RUNNERS: TRAINING FOR RUNNING

Its the best weekend to end the month of January 2012! In January, we completed at least 12 COBC training session, at least one running (more for some) event (Mizuno Wave) and one LSD (Long Slow Distance) to achieve our new year resolution. What is our New Year resolution again? Yes for the season runners, at least ten races including at least 1 full 42km marathons. For beginners, 10 races with at least one 21km races. Why the runs? Yes!! it act as an injection to our motivation and focus for us to train harder at our regular COBC training. Almost 30 of us gathered at Bukit Aman car park..

Spotted Wai Yee Chan, a Pilates instructor at the Fitness First and was a recruit at COBC where Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Rose Emini Pahamin, Luyen Ow, Ryan Wong and me used to train together. Now Wai-Yee is with the 'Auntie Hottie' runners?

With a lot of new runners, the objective of today's run is to learn to pace! As a rule of thumb, a good long distance running pace is a speed that we are able to comfortably chat and talk without panting or losing breath. Many runners that did not know how to pace, would end up over speeding beyond their heart & lung capacity and muscle endurance. As a result, they end up walking half of the total targeted distance or give-up half way before the end or continued running in pain with muscle ache and crams. Speed for long distance requires a slow progression and this is what the weekend run is all about.
There are two type of agony when we run.. First, our muscles & joint pain!! where we know our breathing and stamina are still good and we can run faster but our part of our body either the shin/calves/glut/knees/neck/spine or our overall muscle just give way which would slowed us down.

Second, our stamina where before those body cram or aching, muscle or joint pain kicked in, our heart beating worst than a tsunami tune and our stamina gave way.. Our breathing was too heavy and our heart rate was bombing high.

The weekend runs is to address exactly just this. The two major issues which can be attain through practice, slow build up of stamina and most importantly via good running form. During our first practice today, we expose to runners their first 10km distance, then talk and chat with them while running (to ensure their comfortable running pace). All this was organized by our celebrity runner Ilyanna Aylin Ayob whom had attended various running clinics and ran alot of marathons and races.

We gathered at 6:15am and began with a short briefing before we start to walk as a warm-up to the starting position. We began running at 6:35am. With us today were Ali Rahimi Ferdosinezhad, Micaela Soyza, Maslina Ahmad Ismail, Dalyn Nunis, Shazni Az, Surani Binti Mohamad, Stella Baake, Stephanie Choong, Angela Loo, Heather Goh, Caleb Lian Yoong Lau, Sheikh Hisham, Affik Zakie, Rose Emini Pahamin, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Ryan Wong, Raymond, Luyen Ow, Thomas Baake, Ilyanna Aylin Ayob, Umesh Narasimhaiah, Abdul Adzim Zaharudin (and another 8 more which I cant recall - help!) The weekend run was not restricted to Chief's Original Bootcamp (COBC) recruits but its those COBC recruits that wants to take a step further into running. Friends of recruits and other runners are welcome to join us. At COBC, it is all about motivating each other, the more... the merrier. Running is a passion. Anyone keen and is interested, are all welcome to participate. Ilyanna Aylin and Rose Emini Pahamin with the help of some COBC instructors are preparing a weekly route to slowly increase in mileage and target to complete a full marathon by year end (or 21km for new runners).

Last but not least, congratulation to Micaela Soyza.. she ran her longest distance 10km today!! For all runners, please do not forget to put ice on any aching body part (except for heart-ache), drink lotsa water and very importantly... do alot of stretching!!! otherwise.. err.. you will soon find out in 2 days.

28 January 2012. Proton Edar dealer in Batu Caves celebrated the Chinese New Year at the showroom No 571, Jalan Samudra Utara 1, Taman Samudra, Batu Caves and was graced by Yg Bhg Dato Zainal Abidin bin A'Ala, President Selayang Town Municipal Council. The dealership under Salient Progress Sdn Bhd was appointed PROTON EDAR authorised sales dealer in 2002. The local residence as well as orphans from Selayang orphanage house namely Pertubuhan Penyayang Raudah was also invited and 30 orphans were given t'shirts, ang paw and hampers.

The event that was hosted by Salient Progress Sdn Bhd Managing Director Susan Chew, its Board of Directors Mr Ronnie and Mr Chiam invited the Selayang Town Municipal Council President Yg Bhg Dato' Zainal Abidin bin A'Ala, its Council members En A. Rahim Ahmad Kasdi, En Ruslin Mohd Rosli, Puan Mastura and Pn Hajjah Khatifah Zamani Binti Sulong and me, Armin Baniaz Pahamin as the President for Proton Edar Dealers Association Malaysia (PEDA)

After more than a year of retirement from running, this year I did the unthinkable.. I took up running again... still with a damaged knees and have registered for a full 42km marathon (still cant believe). Why..? Yes... The super influenced of some super kiasu COBC Damansara Heights Otaiis.. How and who can turn down the dozens of invitations from friends whom are as enthusiastic as how I was. Birds of a feather, flock together.. In fact our COBC runner's fraternity has grown and recruits whom were once only a 'walker' are now becoming a runner. Those that had never imagine or even think of running.. are now running.. and I am so proud of them.

To keep the momentum high (err especially for me whom can still dream of running a full marathon with a damage knee), Ilyanna Aylin Ayob, had agree to train with us from COBC.. Ilyanna Aylin Ayob or more fondly known as Nana was previously our COBC Seal Pup instructors whom went on a long leave to pursue her dream to run around the world in various running marathons. Nana is also a blogger at HERE. Forget all the textbook and theories about running, the best way to learn is to share the experience from someone of our own 'species'.. someone who was never born an athlete, someone normal, someone whom had never run in her entire life and had only recently.. just a few years ago, started running.

Ilyanna Aylin, now a famous celebrity runner was a gym-goer!! Ilyanna Aylin attends the gym and an occasional futsal game to tone-up her physique and to maintain the sexy look. She began running in 2008 with Rose Emini Pahamin and first participated in races at the inaugural Singapore Sundown marathon with me, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Nyna Mohsen, Hani Muhaini and Rose Emini Pahamin. Since then.. from a commoner she became the Royal of runners. After the Singapore Sundown, Nana participated in the Adidas King of the Road race in Shah Alam but went to retire for a year after being diagnosed with Spondylosis L5 - a general degeneration of the spine.

In 2009, Nana began running again and ran the Men's Health/Shape 11.5km Night Run, 21km Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and 12km Malakoff Run.

When Nana realized she had overcome her medical restriction, she began running with a vengeance in year 2010 by running 14 races!! Nana ran one 30km race, 5 half-marathons, two 15km runs and one 25km challenge before running her maiden marathon in Melbourne with me, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Rose Emini Pahamin, Sandy Roberts and Yum Kin Kok. After Melbourne, Nana race another 12km race and one half-marathon.

1. Nana's birthday was on the same date as the Paris Marathon in April and Nana completed the marathon within her targeted sub-5 hour timing even though she had an abscess growing underneath her skin near her stomach area and she ran in pain with it!

2. Nana completed her first World Marathon Majors, the ING New York City marathon in November 2011 with a personal best (PB) timing sub-4:30 hour. Nana achieved the timing with 3 months of proper training.

3. Dressing up for races here in KL. If there was one princess in fancy dress running all over town.. then that is Nana. While we at COBC would be on fancy dress at Grad party, Nana would dress up and run marathons.

Recently in 2012, Nana completed the Mizuno Wave Run (yes.. also with me, Nawal Aini Zulkifli and Rose Emini) at UPM with a timing of 58 mins 21 seconds for 10km and was placed at #36 out of 615 in Women's Open category.

Nana have completed 5 marathons worldwide namely Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, Australia, New York USA but had never run any marathons in Malaysia. This year, beside the hectic lifestyle being a Marketing Manager, Nana envisioned to break her personal best timing (PB) and to run a full marathon in our motherland. Her biggest dream is to run the Boston Marathon!

Having kept her self lean, fit, happy and most importantly sexy.. Nana is still single and is in the hunt for err.... a companion! So whether you are training for your first 10km run.. or 21km race, a full marathon or to beat your own PB,.. or simply to run in search for a soul mate, Nana is preparing a route for everyone of different fitness level. ADIBAH MOHAMAD.. WAR AGAINST CANCER

ADIBAH MOHAMAD, a Seal at COBC, an IT Specialist, a single mother, a wonderful daughter, a sincere friend and a cancer patient was even more cheerful yesterday when we met her at her residence in Bandar Utama. Adibah is always cheerful and was always cheering us while training at BU Alpha barely two months ago before she was diagnosed with a stage 2 breast cancer in November 2011. I blogged about Adibah Mohamad at HERE when I discovered her diagnosis in November last year.

Recalling the moment when Adibah first broke the news to us... we could not believe and Farhanah Bamadhaj almost freak out when we learn that Adibah came and train with us in the morning at BU-Alpha when she was due for a surgery in the same afternoon but that is Adibah.. when she is committed, she is determined and nothing could stop her. Adibah had only recently completed her second surgery to remove all cancer tissues but that did not stopped her from giving us the sincerest smile and almost jumping when she saw us at her house entrance... although she was still in pain from the recent surgery.

We were greeted straight to the dining table even after I had earlier told Adibah not to prepare anything because we only want to visit to see how she is coping and recovering but then.. yes, thats Adibah again.. always so hospitable.

Although we were all initially very shy, but it did not stop us from staring straight to whats being served on the table!!! Home-Made Bubur DURIAN!!! Home-Made Lai chi Kang and Chocolate cake!!! Mangosteen, CNY Oranges and laichee waaaaaa... So we helped ourselves with the food.

Adibah spends most of her time at home after her two surgeries. She occupies herself with err.. Korean television series!! If anyone needs any recommendation of a good Korean series to watch... message Adibah, she can also be a story teller having memorised every scene. Hamizah, Adibah's young princess was by Adibah's side most of the time. Although still young but Hamizah is Adibah's strength and the young girl is emotionally strong. While sharing some emotional moment, Hamizah said, she would stood by her mother and stay in Malaysia (instead of going back to Singapore) even after her mother's departure. Hamizah was prepared for the worst. Adibah is expected to start her chemotherapy in February next month.

We were also introduced to Adibah's parent whom were as nice and kind. I think Adibah is an exact replica of her mother but Farhanah said she look more like the father. Adibah's family were Singaporean whom migrated out of Singapore to stay in Malaysia. The father spoke highly on how prosperous Malaysia is and how Malaysia is far better than Singapore. He also did a comparison of our government hospital versus Singapore government hospital and on his rating, our government hospital fetched far better compared to Singapore government hospital in term of equipments, hospitality and pricing!! A man of strong background and experience, we shared many views. After a 2 rounds of of bubur durian.. we err.. excused ourselves before we continue eating more ala 6 sets of TABATA with the bubur.

We were overwhelmed by Adibah's strong family bond. In crisis or in joy, it is the family that will stood by us through thick and think. Choices give friends and they come and go but our parent, our family will pick us up when we fall, sleep with us when we are lonely and feed us when we are bed-ridden. When they grew old, especially our parent, we must do the same. Family values and family relationship are the most important thing in life. All the best Adibah for your chemotherapy and thank you for having us at your house. Our prayer will always be with you. Amin

MAKANSUTRA: NASI LEMAK DEDA @ AJIDON!

We seldom break our diet unless it is for some food that is worth eating and the moment we discovered one of COBC recruit has a Nasi Lemak stall daytime cum Waffle at night, we could not resist but to lend our ~~stomach~~ support. The stall owner is none other than Chief's Original Bootcamp BU-Alpha recruit Rashidah Rdzwani @ Deda Ridzwani. Her stall was located at quite a popular spot in Plaza Damas at Ajidon Alley. Address at E-O-16, Block E, Plaza Damas, Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur.

Ajidon Alley was once our favourite eating-pot for my favourite Mee Rebus Tulang which is only available every Friday!! My bil Azhar Sulaiman and Mohamed Rhiza Ghazi whose office are both located ad different block in the same area were regulars there too. Azhar Sulaiman once, had a stall at Ajidon Alley selling.. err.. keropok lekor I think? My fellow Proton Edar dealer Rashid's wife too once has a murtabak stall there!! Now that we know Deda's stall is also at Ajidon Alley, we would frequent the place even more often.

Excited, after a good run at TTDI Lake on Tuesday morning, Nawal Aini Zulkifli, Rose Emini Pahamin and me headed straight to Plaza Damas with evil intention to spoil our diet with Deda's Nasi Lemak. Our evil thought backfired when Deda's stall is only open at 10am... and we weere there at 9am. Unperturbed, together with Dr Malek Aziz, Farhanah Bamadhaj, Shamsul Adnan, Nawal Aini Zulkifli and Rose Emini Pahamin, we attacked Ajidon again at 1pm and ...... we committed the worst sin.. we had Nasi Lemak ayam Goreng!! The Nasi Lemak.. is not so lemak.. on brown rice (feel-good-factor) and it taste so wonderful and the sambal.. Woww.. I can salivate just thinking of it... the Ayam Goreng was hot and spicy.. very berempah and it was served almost instantly.. good customer service.

Whether you are a hawker or stall owner like Deda Ridzwani and Kenny Lock Heng Weng or a lawyer like Jeffery Lim, a Pub and restaurant owner like Viki Lim, celebrities like Daren or Ruzana Ibrahim, Boutique owner like Pooi Ching Khiew, company secretary Norliza Mohd Khaled or a biker like Raja Affandi Jamaludin.. Once you are with COBC, you have the whole battalion behind you!! Now.. where else are we dining?

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH LANCE CORPORAL (COBC) RESH

Lance Corporal (COBC) (P) Resh or Suresh Kumar has been with the fitness industry as an instructor since 2004 and has worked as a Personal Trainer with Fitness First, California fitness and Sportathlon prior to being a Sales Advisor with UMW Toyota Motors sdn Bhd. As a Personal Trainer, LC Resh had acquire various knowledge in CPR certification, First Aid and Level 1 certificate in Personal Training as well as basic nutrition. As a Sales Advisor for TOYOTA, LC Resh learned the importance of extending a good customer service andprofessinoally advising clients. His mix exposure in fitness and customer service made him a good candidaye for the Chief's Original Bootcamp.

LC Resh is currently a State basketball team player and had in the past represented Labuan, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in various Basketball competitions. Beside being a team player and the best in his field, LC Resh's passion in fitness and training brought him to the CHIEF'S Original Bootcamp (COBC). LC Resh first attended the COBC as a recruit in August 2011 and on 31 October 2011 trained to be a COBC's instructor at our in-house training training academy at HERE. After completing the in-house training and clocking more than 20 hours in grey, LC Resh became a Lance Corporal on probation at the COBC. Despite the hectic schedule waking up at 4 in the morning to prepare circuits, LC Resh's passion in sports and fitness does not stopped him from continuously compete in various basketball competition.

In 2011, LC Resh competed in two major basketball competitions namely the MABA Cup and Agong Cup and won 2nd placing and 6th placing respectively. LC Resh had competed in 7 major competitions including the Petronas Cup since his involvement in Basbetball in 2004. LC Resh is self-motivated, reliable and pleasant and dynamic personality with high enthusiasm and desire to keep learning.

The mix Chinese and Indian blood heritage is able to converse in 7 languages namely English, Bahasa Malaysia, Hokkien, Cantonese, Hakka and Tamil. LC Resh is both an asset to the COBC team and to COBC community. LC Resh is attached to Bandar Utama, Damansara Heights and Subang Jaya USJ1.

MORNING WORKOUT AT COBC AMPANG

The CHIEF'S ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP (COBC) at Ampang basecamp is only 2 months old but it has gathered a strong spirited recruits that only have one main target in mind! and that is HEALTH!! I had the liberty to speak to one of them whom almost shared the similar upbringing as me.. being through sick teenage life-hood. Maria Zunita had always struggled through her life with athma and had never exercise in her lifetime. Only when she turned 30 that she began to explore some strenuous activities which includes diving (you hear that Doc Malek.. another diving into our COBC diving-community) and recently, when we open COBC-Ampang, she became our Ampang hardcore. She said, prior to joining COBC, her short term goal was only to walk for 30 continuous minutes which she was once only a dream.After joining the COBC, she was able to do it comfortably.

I also had the luxury to get close to Ampang big name cum Otai and the most happening figure Suzana Borhan @ Suzie whom is targetting to complete her maiden 21km at the Brooks. Mohamad Satia on the other hand does not envision himself to be a runner (we shall see) but lead a healthy and fit lifestyle. He joined COBC when he first saw us running with Rifle (recruits on training) on his way to work and was excited and immediately google and enrolled himself online with COBC.

Sarge (COBC) Nawal & Lance Corporal (COBC) Moji: AMPANG instructors!!

The two instructors at the Ampang Alpha this morning were Sarge (COBC) Nawal and LC Moji. The duo made a good team to motivate while get the best out of every recruits including me on Chinese New Year!! While every shops and every offices were closed on CNY, it is business as usual at COBC. be it Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali or any festivals or public holiday, COBC training is ongoing as usual!! Health and exercise is a commitment and does not take any holiday... So on public Holiday.. Sarge (COBC) Nawal and LC Moji were on full force to began training!!

Being on holiday, I had the luxury to choose and deliberated to attend either Bandar Utama, Shah Alam or Ampang.. so many choices to pick! but... decided to attend Ampang instead and I was not at disappointed when I was the only men in a platoon full of women! Waaa... Felt like Superman!! but before the session began, another male recruit Mohamad Satia arrived. There were more than thirty recruits that registered for Ampang alpha and another 30 plus for Ampang bravo but along the way... many disappeared due to work and family commitment but I must say, to achieve our target in physique, stamina and even speed in running, we must be consistent and maintain the momentum.

After the session... typically, we err.. end it with some camwhoring!! and here goes...

Kenny's stall is located at Jalan SS2/4A, Taman Megah, near station LRT Taman Bahagia. For Direction, click HERE. There are varieties in the menu but mine and Nawal's personal best is the Seafood Porridge!! Simply irresistable!! and of course being part of the Chief's Original Bootcamp community, Kenny's stall was ambushed, attacked and serbu by all recruits.. over and over again!!

MORNING EXERCISE AT CYBERJAYA

CYBERJAYA.. There is no better place to be than to wake up in the morning and workout at the Cyberjaya!! Why? because the people there are just so accomodative.. friendly and very welcoming. Rose Emini Pahamin and me arrived at Chief's Original Bootcamp, Cyberjaya at HERE, 10 minutes before the session began at 7:00am. Sarge Tom was the Platoon Commander and assisted by Muay Thai fighter Lance Corporal Ridz. Both instructors were on the list of most eligible instructors at the COBC.

Cyberjaya was only 30 minutes drive from Penchala and there are five platoons available as follows:
Charlie (MC12): 0545-0645; Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Echo (MC12): 0700-0800; Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Tango (MC8): 0545-0645; Tuesday, Thursday
Foxtrot (MC8): 0700-0800; Tuesday, Thursday
Yankee (MC8): 1845-1945; Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Having been working out daily, today's workout seemed abit exhaustive! Somehow.. I just hate leg workout but leg workout is inevitable and necessary!!! and Sarge Tom's eye was too sharp that he would picked on every recruits that had compromised in workout forms.. as in, no one was sparred. It was great to meet the fantastic people of Cyberjaya.

This one is Mohd Khairul Nizam.. he is back!! After a disappearance act, he is back!! But maybe will disappear again?
