One thing I noted was that Southerners look at firearms carry as something natural and not a &quot;gift&quot; from politicians. A couple from Georgia told me they couldn't believe that a basic right was so heavily legislated in some states. One thing I did note was that people are not terribly worried about &quot;printing&quot; or others being aware their &quot;carrying&quot;. In Florida I spotted people making little attempt to seriously conceal their handguns. A loose shirt over a T-shirt was about it. I didn't go in one restaraunt /bar where you couldn't spot shoulder, hip, and pocket carry. It's possible my safari type vest was a give a way too. I did notice more politeness at gas pumps and parking lot's than you find in say Northern Illinois. I wonder why?</div> <br /> <div style="padding:6px"> <fieldset class="fieldset"> <legend>Attached Images</legend> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" border="0"> <tr> <td><img class="inlineimg" src="http://armslocker.com/images/attach/jpg.gif" alt="File Type: jpg" width="16" height="16" border="0" style="vertical-align:baseline" /></td> <td><a href="http://armslocker.com/attachments/gun-talk/10539d1329666443-ccw-southern-style-holster-2.jpg" target="_blank">holster 2.jpg</a> (46.2 KB)</td> </tr> </table> </fieldset> </div>

It turns out I'll be spending quite a bit of time south of the Mason-Dixon line, and it's just too hard trying to conceal a second gun the size of an E.G. Makarov along with a primary. So I bought a Ruger LCP six shooter in .380. After cleaning it, I loaded up two magazines (Yeah, I had to put out $30.00 for the second one) one with ball and one with HP. Functioned perfect mand shot just where I wanted it to at 25 feet I fired up a box of eachammunition with no malfunctions. Very good accuracy for a tiny gun, but it kick's hard. I wanted to break it in, but I won't be firing 100 rounds at one time with it again. Not cheap at $345.00 w/second magazine, but it gives that extra bit of peace of mind.</div>

Took out my .338 and discovered my scope had mysteriously died. The internals were scrambled. I don't know when or how this happened. Anyway was a good excuse to pick up one of the new Leupold VR-x scopes with the fire dot. I got the 2-7 x 33, which is more than adequate for elk. This is a surprisingly bright scope, as bright as scopes with larger Objectives from even three or four years ago. Got the scope mounted and off to the range. I'm putting 225gr Barnes bullets 2.5&quot; high at 100yds into a .75&quot; group. I think I'm ready.<br /> <br />
Now, it will be the next few months getting back into shape (been sitting on my butt since I broke some bones in my foot - karate sparring incident), followed by a number of scouting trips.<br /> <br />
fun days ahead!:)</div>
